“A goal cannot be scored by an attacking player who kicks a puck that deflects into the
net off any player, goalkeeper or official.
(i) A kicked puck that deflects off the body of any player of either team (including the goalkeeper) shall be ruled no goal.
(ii) A kicked puck that deflects off the stick of any player (excluding goalkeeper) shall be ruled a good goal
Pretty black and white in the rules. NHL not following their own rules does not surprise me one bit lol
I didn’t realize the stars only won by 1.
Jets looked so slow as the Stars glazed past them.
Jets need to figure out how to play a road game or what are we even talking about, it will be over. I'm a Jets fan and not impressed at all so far.
To me this game only happened the way it did because Dallas coach had last line change, so Winnipeg wasn’t able to make the line matches it wanted plus the refereeing in this game was abysmal and it really gave Dallas the ability to come out in the favourable position because of the early power-play goal they got, how do I know this well the jets shut them out in the last game so that’s pretty obvious that there’s something that was working against the Jets that wasn’t just how the Jets played. It was more to do with how the game was conditioned in Dallas’s favour, that goal being allowed really threw off the Jets and gave Dallas all the momentum and I don’t think it would be much different for any other team in that situation, to be honest with you
The key to Winnipeg doing well on the road in Dallas is to take the fans out of it early, Dallas is a different team when they feed off their fans, second score goals on the pp, if you take the momentum out of their game, Dallas is pretty mediocre
I personally don't have a favorite in this series, however, the amount of time it took for the League to rule on the play is ridiculous. I literally turned over to the Blue Jays during the ruling and they had enough time to play an entire inning. I went back to the game and they still hadn't ruled. At that point, I went back to the Jays game and didn't watch the rest. Just stupid!
I'm wondering if Marchment actually contacted the ref, or if it was the commentary and camera angle. The ref had absolutely no reaction, and the league didn't respond.
What is with Winnipeg and playing bad games that are on a holidays or special occasion like Mother’s Day?
jets are washed.
hellefraud is real.
The Winnipeg Jets getting any further in the playoffs is an American TV ratings nightmare..which makes it the NHL's nightnare.
Any call or decision that helps tilt the outcome towards the Jets losing is win-win
Why did you fail to mention in game 2 when the jets scored a literal soccer goal
This might be THG worst take to date… sheeeesh
His left foot is literally as close to the goal line as possible. And he kicks it towards his stick. He’s a right handed shot with his left foot right near the goal line. I’m no physicist but that would be a kick in the opposite direction of the goal. The only reason it didn’t get on his stick, is because his stick was lifted, so the puck goes rogue. Which means his intention was skate to stick. In the opposite direction. As the puck flails around, it is on a trajectory that would completely miss the net. The scorekeepers wouldn’t have been able to count a shot on goal if it were shot because it was going wide. Connor then intentionally swings at the puck. So it’s not an accidental deflection it’s an intentional effort to move the puck. Because of his effort, the puck is struck and then redirected into his own net. Should have never been reviewed. It’s a good goal. And yes I know the rule book says it can hit a goalies stick and still be no goal, but this is intentionally knocked into by Connor. No accidental deflection.
No one questioned when the guy from Colorado fell. Cause we all knew that yea, although it was a kicking motion, there’s no way he could have intended that. So we accepted it. And yet here somehow people think it’s different? No intention. Opposite direction. His stick is interfered with (legally) and then Connor changes the direction of the puck. GOOD GOAL ALL DAY LONG
That should be a good goal all day long.
Helle man, he’s either Swiss cheese or an absolute wall. Poor guy.
Fans and YouTube channel fans for that matter can whine all they want about goals and none of that matters, the only thing that matters is the decisions made on the ice by the officiating crew and in this case the NHL Situation Room in Toronto. Also, for those of you that actually think you know the rules better than the officials and how to apply them in all situations on the ice, well… guess again. You don't.
Refs or whoever made this decision needs to be suspended. The rule book says a kick cannot be deflected in including off the goalie's stick. It does not say "unless the goalie moves".
Good thing this wasn’t a series deciding game , Dallas already has an ice skate in the books #99 #bretthull
Like Gretzky said in his ‘84 video “Hockey My Way”, “If you know how to use them, your feet can be like another pair of hands.” Obviously any puck kicked in directly isn’t a goal but if deflected in any way it is.
Good call.
Idk man, shit happens in hockey and people are saying that ONE goal was the reason Winnipeg lost this game and this shit is rigged. Its on you to change the momentum after shit happens and you still have a period left to play with 1 goal deficit, you don´t go around saying after a 5-2 loss that the reason you lost the game was because of ONE goal no matter how the goal happened. And the thing that makes this even worse is that the goal is more favored to good goal than no goal and people make this out to be the whole storyline of the game even tho Stars played great the whole game.
I was going to save this for kyper and bourn, but here it is. The kicked goal is no goal. The goaltender will always try to stop the puck. So it may seem like he directed it into his own net, but that's not how the rule is meant to work. The reason is that a goaltender will always try and stop the puck. So, if the pucks kiked and the goaltender doesn't know it was kiked and deflects the puck into the net, is that a goal? No, it was a kiked puck. It applies the same whether he sees it kiked or doesn't it's a kiked puck. No Goal. Peace ✌️ 😎.
There you go. Peace ✌️ 😎. Opinion.
I agree with THG. It was clearly KICKED and Helle did NOT play the puck. The GWG was GARBAGE. I have reviewed the Rules and Toronto's justification is BOGUS. The Rules do not include "propelled" the puck.
I am not an expert in hockey rules, but wasnt it an attempt to not kick puck on goal (which is not allowed), but an attempt to adjust the puck for a shot with stick? It was not the position and not the foot angle that could send puck into the net..
that review in the arena where I was sitting no one had no idea what they were even reviewing until everyone near my browsed reddit.
When it got to 5-2 with 2 Minutes left I was like "Where have I seen this before" and then Of course Winnipeg is not the Comeback merchants that Vancouver is HAHAHAHAHA
NHL Should have put out a statement on the Kicked Goal in Game 7 of Round 1 of 1989 :p
Has anyone else noticed, that in almost every highlight reel there is Dallas player number 55 involved in most goals?
I felt like it was a clear kick, and then a clear play by Hellebuyck that put the biscuit in his own basket.
Think they got that one right, but I get the controversy after looking at it in slo mo. Looks more like a deflection than I thought live
Great Dallas Officiating again. This series has been fixed for Dallas.
