Chicago Cubs vs. Chicago White Sox MLB game highlights (May 17, 2025) l Marquee Sports Network

Hey, welcome to Cubs baseball here on Marquee Sports Network. Coming up here this afternoon from Wrigley Field, it’s the Cubs and the White Socks. Tomorrow, that sign says JD Booga. The Cubs are winners. Oh, they’re lined up. They’re ready. Game two of this threeame set as the Cubs look to continue their offensive role. The Cubs take the field. A great look at it. Mike Fox flying that plane and there is Matthew Boy Rosen and ready to roll. Yeah, he has been uh really dependable and really good so far this year. Five or more innings in all eight of his starts. 3-0 here in three starts at Wrigley Field with a 250 ERA. Last in the American League in runs per game, 28th of the majors. My drop Vargas and Caro Vargas had the big day yesterday. Four hits, a couple of homers. It’ll be Robert Vaughn and Sosa. And then Tim Elco, Josh Palasios, and Michael A. Taylor rounding out the light. I dropped a couple of hits yesterday. It’s that in left field. That one back Suzuki near the wall and it’s gone. And it’s a lead off homer for Chase N. This one with a similar start to yesterday. First big league homer for the kid from California. Yeah, it’s fast ball up in his eyes. Squared up. High five ball out towards left center and coha. Eight pitch of the bat and he got him to chase that time. Struck him out. Good battle and Boyd wins that duel. Two away. And indeed it was the change up that got the job done. Look at it there for the team next year. Boy carves him up, strikes him out. Take a look at the Cubs lineup. It’s brought to you by Vinnie’s Beverage Depot. If you can’t find it at Benny’s, probably not worth drinking. Cubs second in the NL to the Dodgers in runs per game, third in the majors. PCA tucker Suzuki pushed once in by Asteros. Corner Amaya and Bruha. PCA fresh off a six RBI game. The starting pitcher Shawn Burke delivers a strike. Burke strikes out Pete Crow Armstrong. The swing and miss. Awkward swing that time and Suzuki is gone. The kick to 22 inside corner and Bush is gone. Cubs can’t do anything with the walk in the steel. End of one. One nothing. Some guys just so talented it just clicks and they take off. drifting out. Eco makes a one-handed catch. Ball in there. Got him. The curve ball freezes Elco on a one, two, three inning for Matthew Boyd. Harding through the left side, the base hit and Swanson turns that sinker around. D’s been very aggressive with that heater. And we go around outside. That throw is high and stinky. And into second is Dansby Swanson. One is ball four. Maya in the on deck circle. Chew a board. Nobody out. Burke delivers. And that one is inside ball four. JD. Yeah, I’d love another look at that, but I think if Carol catches that cleanly, which he should have, I think it’s strike three. Line drive base hit left field. Swanson’s coming in. Here comes Bayeros around third. He’s in. And the Cubs catchers continue to deliver a Maya two-run single. The Cubs lead 2-1. White Sox jumped out to an early lead in yesterday’s ball game. The Cubs put a six spot on the board in the bottom half of the second inning. And here they go in the second this afternoon. Work here by Amaya staying back on that break. Delivering that solid single to left at plates two. Quinton Barry backpedaling down the line. Taking a long look at that one as he sends Bast drive center field. Pico Armstrong and he’s knocked in two more and it is 41. PCA stays hot. Eight runs batted in in the last two. I’m not sure Footsie Blair ever did that. A split change up there. Up being the operative word cuz it stayed up. PCA launches it to center field. There goes a run. pitches a string t and safe at the toe on the bag and PCA swipes another. Tucker was going to run and Swanson was going to run. You felt pretty confident that PCA was going to steal a base as well. There you see the break. Just a matter of hanging on, taking a 4-1 lead. Good pitch center field. PCA drifting back here. How did he make the catch? Wow. Holy cow. Great ball and Ivy. That’s south number one everybody. And he is special. Take a look. Not easy. He’s pursuing his ball. Finds the wall. Finds the ball again. And then at the last minute reaches out and snatches it. Long drive into left field and that is a base hit. Suzuki retrieves it and Taylor is aboard giving up a free base. Back up the middle and that one gets through. Mind drop the base hit. Here’s takeoff. Throw down to third. Tag by Bruhan and safe is Taylor. So they go double steel and it works. The one two fly ball left field. Suzuki lang over makes the catch tagging from third and coming in to score is Taylor and it’s 42 on the sack fly. Ultimately get him to swing out a pitcher’s pitch. There you go. Well done. Got him on the change up and there’s two away settled into a nice group. How many? Four. Counting counting out loud. 1 2 3 four strikeouts. Coming on that change up. Here comes the O2 to Sosa. Swang going to miss. Struck him out. Are you with what he’s delivered? I think he’ll get hot eventually. There you go. Out into the corner. Action run on his horse around second. PCA to third. It’s a triple. center field. Watch Elco will touch them all. His second of the year and the White Socks within one. Some Socks starting to show a little power here. A couple home runs yesterday, a couple more here today. Showed you the numbers for Elco down at TripleA. They were very robust. This is all about count leverage. 3-1 pitch. Fast ball outer third. Good guy. Two two in there. Got him. And Palasios is gone. It’s a half dozen strikeouts for Matthew Boyd. The 2-2 swing and a miss. Struck him out. That’s seven. That’s something Taylor has done a lot throughout his career. this year striking out 34% of his plate appearances. And the 94 mph heater for Matthew Boyd gets the job done. The national title 2014. He drills this one out towards left center field on his gone into the bleachers. Swanson with the home run, his 10th. And the Cubs make it a 53 game. That’s home run number 10 for Danby Swanson. What a turnaround he has enjoyed over the last few weeks. Home run replay is brought to you by Toyota, the official vehicle of the Chicago Cubs. Once again, it’s the fast ball and he’s all over it. Leaned on it. 5 41 line drive. Base hit left field. Nico her up the middle. Sosa on the back hand. Oh, high tag and it spills out of El’s glow. Hit the road jack. And it’s even better when a pitcher seems Jack like I remember with Jack Flity right field. Oh, and it takes a bounce and hops over Palasios into the basket. I don’t know if there’s been a better call in the history of the sport than Oh, watching Palasio pursue that fly ball. Oh my goodness. And the wind has picked up. It’s been blowing pretty hard all day, but pretty stiff out there towards the right field corner of Colossio. Drunk uncle got a hold of the joystick here. Yes, it’s going to be a double. It’s brought to you by Ozen Hyundai, home of the 20 year, and 200,000 mi warranty on every new car. And hey, get ready. They’re about to play YMCA. Cubs lead it six-3. The windb blown double to right. and Miguel Laya being attended to by Nick Frangella, a Cubs head athletic trainer, and Craig Council just to make sure he’s okay. Not sure what the nature of the injury is, but he just was doing some running. So, you got to assume something lower half, right? Back or leg. Outstanding season. Probably better on swaging a miss boy with strikeout number eight. Six solid innings from the left knee. We’re midway in the six and the Cubs lead. Dansby will take his walk. I would say that it gets to the thing that you bring up and that’s the big bang, right? Line drive, base hit, that’s out of left field. Swanson around third on his way to the plate. balls thrown too late and it’s an RBI single for Nicoer. He walks in the inning and the Cubs make the White Sox pay for those loss. That’s been a big part of the story line here this afternoon. Insurance runs are brought to you by Gallagher helping you face your future with confidence on for the fourth time. A couple of loss, a couple of knocks and this one scores Swanson. Kansas. Good secondary. Good aggressive eight. Good send by Clinton Barry to 2-1. Center field long. Here comes Robert and he makes the catch. That’s a pretty good play. Now he’s really good out there. Like a panther. There it is. He’s got it. And that’s the ball game. And the Cubs win. 73 your final. And guess what? We can sing the song. Baseball season’s underway. Get ready for a brand new day. Hey there. Heat.

  1. To say Busch is struggling is like saying the Sun is hot. Duh. He needs to be hitting like 8th. Or playing "left out." Have Swanson hit 4th. Did you hear the announcers today? What are guys hitting on a ball in play with the count 0-0? Your average is .344. What Busch does is take the meatball. 0-1. Swing at the next pitch in the dirt? 0-2. Take strike 3 down the middle. Or? Instead of taking a ball, he will strike out on a pitch that hits the plate. That's how bad he is. He HAS to get out of the 4 hole. Run Suzuki's numbers when he puts the ball in play on the first pitch. Then what does he do in all other cases? He's a .230 hitter. He's gotta get out of 3 hole too. Have PCA lead of and Happ hit 4th. Have Tucker hit 3rd. Have Nico hit 2nd.

  2. Have to get the sweep tomorrow afternoon! The Cubs let too many sweeps get away from them at home early in the season PLEASE don't let this series be one of them #gocubsgo

  3. They have to have pitching or they may get through one round of the playoffs, they can't score 10 runs a game, Amaya's got be bundled for the best pitcher they can get. That's their only move.
