Ovechkin to return for 21st NHL season with Capitals

Had a feeling. Gonna be interesting to see if he has another season of 30+, or if he finally shows his age and slows down a bit. I’m thinking he ends his career in the 920-940 goal range.
I wonder if there’s any possibility he goes for 1,000. He’d have scored 50 this year if he hadn’t missed 16 games due to injury. He plays for one of the best teams in the NHL. If he can manage one more season like that and have two where he’s just decent, but nothing spectacular, it would be within reach.
Crazy to think he would be aiming for 1,000 now if he didn’t lose over 150 games to lockouts and shutdowns during his career.

I think he said in an interview he’d finish his contract and then play one year in the KHL, then hang up the skates.
