Dvarus won two series in seven years with the Leafs. That’s just an Isles fan digging the knife deep. Final 10 seconds. Leafs getting booed off the ice by the Toronto Faithful, losing 61 in game seven. Their season is over and I’m waving goodbye to Brendan Shanahan. who has successfully built the most frustrating team in the history of hockey. A team so good they’re incapable of missing the playoffs and so bad they’re incapable of doing anything in them. Is this Mitch Marner’s last game as a Leaf? Is this John Tvaris’s last game as a Leaf? Yeah, we, you know, ended up with one of the most miraculous comebacks in the history of the playoffs, scoring three goals in three minutes to force overtime and then we won it in overtime, but we got shut out in game five. But, you know, maybe maybe if that series went seven, we would have won it. Damn. 2021, you know, we win the division. Hooray for us. We blow a 3-1 series lead. I don’t know how you make that one positive, but they stuck with the team anyway. 2022, you had a chance to to finish the Lightning in six. You couldn’t do it. Went to overtime. Game seven is in your barn against the reigning Stanley Cup champs and you lose by one goal. Damn. 2023 you lose in five to Florida but in the second round and we fired our GM so it’ll be a different result. Damn. 2024 again 3-1 comeback against the Bruins. It’s game seven. You were leading. You lose but it was close. Damn. Fire the coach. Bring in a new guy. It’s game seven again, which you forced again. And you get your asses kicked, guys. They got their asses kicked. I don’t give a damn that it was in seven games. I don’t care. I do not care. You fought Oh, okay. Right. You won the division. You fought like hell for home ice advantage in these playoffs.   1. It seems impossible to play that poorly when it matters most. Especially at home. Any fan base deserves better than that effort, but it seems like some form of spite from the team. No effort.

  3. It's time for Leafs fans to take a step back and let the team impress them before they pretend to care again. That's what happened with the 2018 Capitals. By the time they got to the Cup Final, the fans were behind them, not in front of them.

  19. It's not that they lost, but how they lost. That is the most damning angle of all of this. They played well in game 6, and like ass in game 5 and 7. Pretty much agree on this core will result in nothing. Maybe it's that they really have no support. If you just look at Florida their 3rd line is preforming as well as their top and 2nd line. Leafs don't really have more than 4 people in their offense, while Florida has a stacked top 9. So when their top stars can't produce, Leafs are a not performing at all.

  25. Toronto faithful. THE BIGGEST JOKE in the series of the NHL. There is no faith. It's all $$$ for premium seats and the privilege of throwing your jersey on the ice.

    Not Shanahans fault. He never successfully built a team. He was forced to build a team around 4 players with 45 mill against the cap. Of 88 mil. With higher taxes. Unlike Florida/Nevada/Texas with 0% income tax. Guarantee he will build a better team without Tavares and Marner and 95 mil cap (or getting rid or A.Matthews who doesnt care about winning a cup for a canadian team as an american UNTIL a team like the Oilers win the cup and McDavid/Draisaitl and other players come for a hug for the game winning goal or something to be made into a statue, to be immortalized LIKE GRETZKY, and REALIZE while the MEDIA PRESSURE is HARDER, and the TAXES ARE HEAVIER, but the LIFETIME POTENTIAL as an immortalized CHAMPION, a TRAINER, a COACH OR GM OR OWNER… Talent recognizes talent. When players like Matthews, Marners, Tavares, and Nylander sell out for $$$ contracts (based on signing bonuses, not WINNING bonuses) they will never realize this dream.

    Austin Matthews is a better player than he lets on. He doesn't play a team effort because he doesn't care about Canada. He isn't going to play for Toronto, he is playing for profit. So trade him like he's SELLING. Like Rantanen. Given how played so poorly in the USA vs Can game (he had 2 posts? in two games? And was a decisive reason why the lost all the goals against?) However, it might be BETTER to trade him BECAUSE you are paying him like McDavid but he doesn't compare anywhere near to Draisaitl/Makar/MacKinnon/Kucherov/Barkov,Thachuk/ and Quinn Hughes in Vanc whom didnt even make the playoffs. Selling his contract for what it's worth, OR MORE THAN WHAT ITS WORTH, is beneficial to the Leafs. There is a reason Matthews hasn't taken a leadership role for the Leafs.

    An Edmonton vs Toronto cup run would have been great. For canada. Not the NHL. but these side reasons are why toronto hasn't won.

    If Teemu Selanne and Paul Kariya won a cup for the JETS before they got sold of would have been immortalized more than any Nashville, Phoenix, Atlanta (Flames, Predators…) than the Pittsburg/Washington teams cup wins OUTSIDE of canada. (Crosby being Canadian, and Ovechkin being a goal scoring leader contender when he won it.)

  28. Islander fan here. Even after a horrible season and not making the playoffs. At least Tavares isn't winning a cup either. It's my playoffs if the Isles r in I watch till they are out and then root against Tavares. At least I get comic relief from u Steve. I've been an Isles fan since before the cup run. So I've seen the top and the veerrryyy bad. I Do feel for u. The Zamboni rant is still the BEST !!!!!!!
