Nikola Jokic on whether the Nuggets can win another championship as currently constructed: “We didn’t, so obviously we can’t. If we could, we would win it. I don’t believe in those ifs stuff. We had opportunities. We didn’t win it, so I think we can’t.”

  1. They have no tradable assets and no cap room. Tough spot. Murray and MPJ won’t get anything decent in return

  2. jokic really looks like an uncle with that polo shirt lol.

i’ll never forget that bs catapult 3. still haunts me today

  3. Hes probably right. Giannis had the same thing happen to him. Those Bucks didn’t age gracefully, Nuggets don’t seem likely to either.

  4. I don’t know what people think would be a good answer.  This seems like an honest comment that doesn’t really put the blame on anyone undeservedly, but some people manage to have a problem with it.

  5. Realistically I think they could’ve won the ring this year but I don’t know if they get past minny. I don’t know if we will either.

  6. As a casual, it seems the cba makes it exceedingly expensive and difficult to keep championship rosters intact, much less reload. I wonder if we will head into an era of superstar leaving their teams even after winning the championship due to an hyper inflated disease of more.

  7. The league is so good now, everybody stands out almost. Denver will do something I’m sure, especially with a once in a generation player. I know he just has 1, but that’s more than most can say, and he absolutely will get more. Anything less than another one is organization failure, which we have seen time and time again unfortunately.

  8. I agree with him their lack of depth really reared its head and MPJ doesn’t seem like a reliable 3rd scorer

  9. Shows you how hard it is to have a dynasty like the lakers did back in the 2000s

  10. He’s right. I respect his candor. Onus is on the team ownership and management to make the right moves.

  11. He’s right – they have the pedigree but not the depth. You can’t keep playing your guys as many minutes as they did before the wheels come off eventually.

  12. Am I regarded or he basically said they cannot win another championship lol

  13. This is good, put some pressure on their front office. They sacked their GM for a reason, he couldnt get stuff done

  14. Jamal Murray with some absolute stinkers. His good games he shot like shit too

  15. Refreshing to have an actual mvp and superstar tell the truth NO LEBRON ROUTE AND BLAMING FAKE INJURY AND TEAMATES

  16. Looks like keeping the core championship team does not seem to work the following year. I thought Boston, Denver or Milwaukee would’ve at least gone with back-to-backs.

  17. i wanted russ to win one. his best chance maybe his last time , his time is sad to say is gone

  18. Lol that’s the most results based mentality I’ve heard. I don’t share the same sentiment as the rest of the people in this thread that the Nuggets can’t make any trades. Booth was making all sorts of trade packages during the season but the Kroenkes denied all of them. I think a competent GM will be able to find a way to trade MPJ and some of the bench into 2 or 3 playable players.

  19. They have basically no bench and half the team is held together with duct tape and good thoughts. If it wasn’t against OKC it would have been against the wolves and we don’t need another spanking by the wolves. That was Jokic sugar coating the situation. Team needs a serious shake up when the cheap ass owners hire a new GM

  20. Understand he’s making a point specifically about this team but I don’t agree with the general argument. Buy that logic the 73-9 warriors roster couldn’t have won a championship because they didn’t

  21. Man speaks the truth, if it wasn’t for AG heroics the series would’ve never gone to game 7.

  22. We have two big things in our favor next year assuming the FO doesn’t make big moves, in theory

    1) MPJ not having a fucked shoulder next year would help a great deal

    2) Getting our first round pick who missed the entire season with an injury but spent the year learning how to be an NBA player.

Is that enough? I do not fault anyone who thinks no, but depending on how development is going with Holmes those aren’t nothing.

  23. I respect the honesty. I wish Bron would have called out the Cavs publicly like this during his first Cleveland stint.

  24. When’s the media going to do the whole “Jokic has to leave Denver” that Gianni’s gets?
