Paul Maurice Stays out of Handshake Line:” It’s for the Players”

Real classy, would expect nothing less from Florida’s HC
Maybe he should inform the rest of the coaches then
Dude is really embracing his villian arc.
“It’s for the players and apparently every other coach in the league, but I didn’t feel like it”
That’s weird
This guy is quite a clown.
Total BS! 😕
Pretty disrespectful. It’s for the players and coaches to congratulate each other on great seasons. I’m sure it’s tough as the losing team but for the winning coach to say that is pretty bad. Best thing in sports in my opinion
Stop it Paul. The handshake line is for everyone. Cut it out man. 🤦♂️
It’s always been for the players and coaches. If you are a young goalie that got beat, the best thing you can hear is the other team’s coach say “keep your head up,you were great out there!”
In minor hockey it’s been expanded to include the refs as well. Pretty soon, it’ll include the parents and fans.
Maurice is just a POS.
You nimrods that have Panther Derangement Syndrome could use some context before calling it “disrespectful”. Paul Maurice was asked about handshake lines 2 weeks ago during the Lightning series. Link below.
Although I fully expect the hive mind of idiocy here in r/nhl to bury this post with downvotes, ignore the reality and drone on about how disrespectful Paul Maurice is. Which is laughable.
Didn’t the broadcast show the staff and coaches for both teams shaking hands at the bench instead?
I agree it should only be for the players, there are too many suits in the handshake lines. Wouldn’t be surprised to see ushers and ticket takers next. And, to those that think it’s tradition, it’s not. Coaches didn’t join the line until the past 5-ish seasons or so.
I don’t think this is that controversial of a take. Paul Maurice is old school and coaches didn’t start being involved in the handshake line until relatively recently, probably late 90s or early 2000s.
Coaches used to just shake hands with the opposing coach and staff and that was it.
People need to take a breath, I know the Panthers are easy to hate, but Maurice is a solid coach that respects the game. Let him be.
*Edit: grammar*
He’s right. Y’all are just too blinded by envy and hate to realize it.
You mean a team of complete douchebag players is led by a douchebag coach? #Shocked.
He didn’t want to get the Leafs stink on him for the next round
Just get out there and shake hands. Maurice has won a ton of playoff series. Are we saying he never participates in them? If that was the case, fine but IMO it shits on one of the most sacred traditions in a sport that trumpets it’s tradition. Just do it. It looks good and won’t kill you
Since when, Paul?
For the record: I support what he’s saying. It’s very clear who actually read the article and who didn’t. The hive mind just thinks Florida bad, but Berube didn’t shake hands with anyone either.
They both agreed, it’s for the players who sacrificed their body’s and their passion, not for coaches who “drink coffee and swear.”
Let’s be real, the guy just wanted it to be over 10 mins left in the third cause they pummeled the leafs. They didn’t need any extra stuff just let them get away from the crazy fans
Lead fans need to go take a shower. Not everything is a deliberate attack on your fragile egos
