‘It’s the hope that kills you’: Maple Leafs fans devastated by another Game 7 loss

  1. Don’t worry, the Habs will win the Stanley cup before the leafs and make Canada proud

  2. About halfway through game 3 I was feeling pretty good about the group. Every year it’s like Lucy pulling the football out from underneath Charlie Brown. After this many game 7 loss you think they’d come out hungry to win, instead they get dominated for the first 10 mins, seem to get their shit together to end the first and then come out with nothing in the second. Game over. How can we have a 69 goal scorer who is invisible in the playoffs. Worst captain in the league.

  3. All around me are familiar faces, worn out places, worn out faces.

Bright and early for the daily races, going nowhere, going nowhere.

Their tears are filling up their glasses, no expression, no expression.

Hide my head i want to drown in sorrow, no tomorrow, no tomorrow

  4. Leafs took the defending champs to 7 in the 2nd round, that’s a leap of improvement over the last few years, they need to get a little more ‘playoff grit’ they’ll be ok, have the faith guys!

  5. I have made this argument for teams a hundred times. Only one team can win, I would rather be a fan of a team who gives you fun to watch and meaningful games than a team that isn’t even in the conversation

  6. They gotta get rid of Berube too and make it painfully clear to the next coach that they don’t give two shits about the regular season they want playoff wins. Basically do what FLA did when they hired Paul Maurice.

I heard yesterday that Berubes whole strat was make sure they were first in the division and didn’t play either Florida team round 1. Terrible strategy. First off why would you push hard late in the regular season to the detriment of the playoffs squad especially if you have no chance at the presi’s so you get literally nothing in return?

Second, you quite literally have to play one of the Florida teams in either the first or second round since they both made it in. Why on earth would you want to set them up psychologically as the boogeyman in your closet waiting to eliminate your team, both teams have already had your number in recent years and probably already have that edge somewhat.

  7. While I agree he will likely play better elsewhere, it will be regular season only. No management team can give him heart and balls, and that is what he and Matthews lack.

  8. It’s more like the entitlement that kills you. No one is more entitled than the Leaf’s fanbase.

  9. Leafs just went 7 games with the cup champs everybody needs to chill the fuck out. The past is irrelevant. Only one team can win. Berubé is changing the culture of that locker room and marner and is worth every penny…. Signing off until October. Leafs media and 90% of the fans are absolutely bedarded

  10. I take it back. Best thing to happen to Leafs was losing game 3. If they won that game they would have been reverse swept.

  11. If we’ve learned anything from Ted Lasso, it’s emphasizing the importance of hope and belief. He believes it’s the lack of hope that can be more destructive, leading to a loss of motivation and despair.

Both hope and lack of hope can be harmful, with hope potentially leading to disappointment and lack of hope leading to apathy.

  12. Although they won game 6 with a shutout , as a Leafs fan you already knew not to have hope going into game 7 lol
