Grading the Last 5 Miami Heat 1st Round Picks #nba #heat #nbadraft

Let’s grade the last five first round picks of the Miami Heat. So, they had the 15th overall pick in the 2024 draft and they took Kel Wear out of Indiana. Based on his rookie season, I got to give it an A. He showed great flashes on both ends of the floor. Looks like a very athletic big that can also space the floor as well next to Bam out of Bayou in that front court. They had the 18th overall pick in the 2023 draft. Jame Hz, I’m going to give this a B minus. I think for a fine rotational piece at number 18, that is good value. But I think it’s just a reoccurring trend where you do see these upper classmen make an impact right away in the league and we’re basically at their ceiling on what they’re going to be in their careers. So I don’t really know if Tommy Hawkins is going to be much better than what he currently is in Miami because a player that I think has a little bit more potential long-term is Nicole Yoic, the 27th overall pick in the 2022 draft. I’m going to give this a B+. I know he spent one more year in the league so far, but he’s still younger than Jame Hz and he could still be a good stretch for in this league. They didn’t have a first round pick in the 2021 draft from a trade they made back in 2015 for Goran Dragage. So, we’re going to talk about their 2020 first round pick at number 20, Precious Achua. And unfortunately, I got to give this a D. Precious immediately got traded one year into his heat career for Kyle Lowry in the 2021 offseason. And you know who went one pick after Precious? Tyrese Maxi would have been a nice big three with Bam. Maxi, Jimmy Bummer, and Tyler Hero over there in Miami. Would have been pretty sweet. And then yeah, to wrap things out, Tyler Hero was the 13th overall pick back in that 2019 draft. It is an A+. Somebody that has won a six-man, has been an all-star at the end of the lottery. That’s a fantastic pick there by the Miami Heat. Probably their best over the last five first round picks.

  1. Kelel Ware is better than Castle, so is Edey, so is McCain, and even Clingan at the end of the year was better.

Worst ROTY ever when he's the 5th best player in an already weak class.

  2. Wild thing is when they were close to getting kyle and oladipo, people thought we had to give up tyler and Duncan to get both individually. Funny enough it wouldve been better to give up tyler in that deal and have kept the pick if you drafted maxey instead. In that short time it wouldve been enough to see maxey ceiling over tyler
