Chicago Cubs vs. Miami Marlins MLB game highlights (May 19, 2025) l Marquee Sports Network
Start the week here from Lone Depot Park in beautiful Miami, Florida. Cubs players trickling on in. Fans are about to trickle on in. It’s a Chicago Cubs taking on the Miami Marlins here for Miami. Game one of three. Last start against the Marlins. 3 0 and that’s rocketed to right center. Tucker back at the wall. It’s one to nothing Marlins. Azerus Sanchez home run number two. The three fast ball will will get the headline falling behind in the C. Way above that. That’s it in the air. Left field. Suzuki at the wall and it’s back to back. [Music] Augustine Ramirez, a lob witch over the left field wall. Home run number six for him. Two at bats, two homers for the Marlins. It’s a two nothing game in the first. Yeah, again falling behind on the count. Feeling like he had to challenge with that 3-1 pitch. He knows he can hit. Goes the other way for a base hit. Wide turnaround verse and Moyes is buy second big league knock. Two out single here in the second. I love the approach. He took the big aggressive swing on 3-1. Didn’t get it. And then talk about the ball skills. That thing’s like a foot outside and he pokes it the other way. How about that plate coverage? One of those. Well, he probably should have hacked at it, but 22 to Norby. Swing and a miss. Strike three. First strike out for Ben Brown. That curveball hits plays like a slider. Throws at 86 87 88 mph. One, two, delivery. Got him. Backto back hays to start the second and Ben Brown starting to groove a little bit. Yeah, he can rack him up. I don’t know. Thought that was the third out if he was just going for a little long today. Swing and a miss. That was nasty. Another strike out. Ben Brown. So, we got one guy throwing 94 mph change ups and another guy throwing 88 mph curve balls. understand how difficult it is for the hitters in the modern game. That’s it. Well, deep center. Hill back. Can’t get it. One hops over the wall. It’s a double for Michael Bush to start the fourth. Oh, you could really hear that crack of the bat in this very quiet ballpark. A bushwack 110 mph for a leadoff double here in the top half of the fourth. And this double, this one right here, is brought to you by Elgen Hyundai, home of the 20-year and 200,000 mi warranty on every new car. Man, he blistered that ball. Ninth double of the year for Michael Bush. Nico left side. Senoha slides to first. He’s safe. Infield single, Nicoer. And now first and second for the Cubs. One out. Been a busy night out there already for the shorts stops for Noha. An illadvised throw here. He’s not going to get Nico. It’s a nice play. And if he throws that one away, it’s a cheap base for Bushy to get over to third. [Applause] Amaya out to left field. Sters at the track at the wall. Just did he catch it? He did not. It’s gone. Miguel Maya Bai fourth home run of the year. One swing of the bat. Cubs take their first lead. It’s a 3-2 game. [Applause] Two things we’ve talked about all season long. Production from the bottom of the order and production from the catcher position. Well beyond what they got from the catchers last year. Tandem of Carson Kelly and Miguela have been among the best in the business. This home run replay is brought to you by Toyota, the official vehicle of the Chicago Cubs. Sters climbs, gets a piece, but cannot hang on. And it’s a three-run home run for Miguela. Oh, so close. Takes a look at his glove. Is it [Music] there? He did asking, “You shall receive.” Another strike out for Ben Brown. Swing and a miss strike three. Ben Brown case strut backto back strikeouts to begin the fourth. I think he went with that change up again there. This is a very encouraging sign. Brought him to his knees at the pitch. Got him. Strike out the side in order. Ben Brown. 3-2 Cubs lead and he hits that one well right field. Tucker back at the wall jumps up and it’s off the wall. Norby rounds third. No throw home. Throw two3. It’s an RBI triple and a tie [Applause] game. Marlins rise up here in the home fifth. Ben Brown have been dominating this lineup, too. 3-2. Got him. Good work. Really good work. My bad. That’s up the middle into center field. RBI single. Javier Sinoa. pick scores and the Marlins retake the lead. It’s a 4-3 game. 22 years old. That is hit off of Ben Brown’s glove and into center field. So rounds third PCA no throw home RBI single. Jesus Sanchez. It’s 5 to3 Marlins in coming out of nowhere. Six in his last start. Seven so far tonight. make that eight. Picked up French. There’s that in left field. Base hit. Sea Suzuki comes up with it. He fires home. It’s not in time. It’s six to three Marlins. Good job trying to catch that ball. I’m not sure that was the right play. There’s the pickoff. Throw to second and it’s in time. Nicely done. Ends the inning. But the Cubs trail six to three. We’ll go to the six. Go to Livers. And it’s a leadoff walk. Suboptimal from the Marlins point of view. He just grabbed this three-run lead and he walked the lead off man in the top of the six. I would consider a pretty high leverage situation. Nico into left. There’s a base hit. Bush stops at third. Bush back to third. And the Cubs have the bases loaded with nobody out in the six. Yeah, nice response here after the Marlins have their big inning. Cubs 2-1. Tapper right side. Tanokco can’t pick it up. Everybody’s safe. Bush scores. It’s a 6-4 game and the Cubs have the bases loaded and nobody out. [Applause] Well, hardly the grand slam, but it’ll get the job done. Just a little slow roller up the right side. No fans on [Applause] it. And the only play he had was first base. The run was going to come home anyway. Already with a three-run home run. Amaya out to left center. Sour into the gap. Dies. He can’t get it all the way to the wall. One run scores. Here comes two more. It’s [Applause] late. Have a night. Base is clearing. Triple. Cubs back on top. It’s a 76 game. [Applause] Boy, what a good looking swing from Amaya. Two big swings here tonight. This is fun to [Applause] watch leaves his feet, comes up empty close to robbing Amaya twice, but Nat and watch the base runningest comes sprinting in behind Nico as if Nico were the lead [Applause] blocker. Danby cranking it up. Come on, fellas. Going to look at this replay here on the on the big board in the ballpark. And it looks like his foot was off the plate. They might overturn this. After review, the runner’s foot hit the ground and went above home plate and never touched it. The call on the field is overturned. The runner is [Applause] out. So, Baseros called out. It’ll go in the books as a two-run triple. Shaw out to right center field. Hill back at the track at the wall. It’s a double for Matt Shaw. He round second, heads for third. He’ll have to retreat. Back to second. RBI double. Matt Shaw. Welcome back. Seven of six [Applause] Cubs. Foot down in time. A little slider down but middleish. And he pumps it the other way. And Cub fans rejoice out there in right field. Good power the other way. Matt Shaw, who was smoking hot down at Iowa, comes through with a big clutch two base hit here. Two-1 offering. Pull right side down the right field line. Base hit. It ties the game. Here comes Derek Hill. Brown’s third home. Marlins win. Jesus Sanchez with a walk-off two-run double and the Marlins take the first game of this three-game [Music] set. Come scramble back after falling down three to take the lead and let it slip away late. Obviously, at least one, perhaps two guys not available in the bullpen here tonight. Valencia got off to a great start. Got the first two outs in the ninth, but could not finish it. [Applause]

2 best hitters could not hit today. Glad everyone else could get the bats going and not the best pitching today either. Daniel Palencia had 2 goood outs and then fell off for some reason, maybe not a deep inning pitcher. Couldn’t afford that walk. Overall this is a game we need to win. Could’ve been 10 games over 500. Please get this team straight. EXTRA COMMENT. GOOD JOB MATT SHAW. and way to show what u can do kid. 👍let’s go cubs!
I'm sorry, but Palancio needs to go. He can't handle pressure.
30 minutes later still really annoyed by this loss. Gotta pray division or wild card doesn’t come down to a single game but gut feeling it will
It would be nice if Cubs on 10 games on the 500. and now this loss 😢
palancia pitches great for 2 outs, gives up double and completely melts down. take a deep breath and get an out man wtf
My CUBS need a closer?! When Rosi was manager they needed a closer! It is so obvious especially with tonight's game!
They lost this game for a few reasons but for me Horner's at bat in the 9th frustrated me. 2 insurance runs on second and third, he takes ball one but then swings at ball 2 and makes the 3rd out. Make the pitcher throw you a strike before hacking away! Fundamentals!!
Tucker needs to be benched he has been very bad for the past MONTH
Well son of a bitch. When is Shota coming back?
😮😮😮😮
That terrible slide by the chubby guy cost the game, how don’t you know how to slide??????
Jesus what a horse shit ending
We need a closer bad, Palencia is not the answer to get us a save.
GO CUBS!
Really shitty to cut out the reason we lost the game, Tucker playing too shallow and not getting a good jump on the ball.
What a buncha Crapola. Win it dammit!!!!
We gotta win these easy games guys. Let’s hit em hard tomorrow and Wednesday and get the series W GO CUBS GO!!!
Love it when cubs pitching chokes, hopefully the cubs get sweeped. This is the perfect gift to the Ricketts and jed hoyer. Maybe this cubs team will loose the next 50 games. Which for the rickett family would be a awesome gift to this family which has gotten filthy rich off the backs of the fan base. Maybe this team will finish strong and finish at the bottom of the central division. Of course it doesn't matter because the fan base doesn't care if this organization wins or loses, with the ricketts family sitting on a gold min of $4.6 billion so for this organization losing has been profitable just look at the 3 years this team has won a world series 1907,1908 and 2016 what a great tradition for winning. The cub fans can at least count on this organization for sticking it to the fan base by getting filthy rich off the backs of hard working fans. A small price to pay for the fans is the cub organization will put profit over winning multiple world series
There are a lot of problems in this game on the Cubs side but it ended with Palencia starting strong getting two strikeouts and then he just lost control of his fastball roundabouts pitch 20. An 0 and 2 count on that guy that hit the first double and then he thought he'd try a slider and he put this one right in the middle of the Zone instead of outside like the other sliders he had thrown I can see why he might want to have thrown a slider after two fastballs but you've got two outs 0 and 2 count just f**** pitch a 102 mph ball and end it. And he followed that up with a 4-pitch walk. Palencia has improved quite a bit but Counsell getting greedy putting him in as closer, he's not mentally ready. Sure Hodge blew his last save attempt but you DO have to stick with guys sometimes and not pull them whenever they mess up. Now Brown has messed up several times now …
Fck me…no one the pen is reliable or consistent. Same BS different season
Why did Ballesteros get sent from 3rd for a bang bang play when there were 0 outs?
It's a long season and games like this are bound to happen. Let's get em tomorrow Cubbies
Offense has been unreal so far, and the starting pitching has been as good as any team in the league even with some injuries to key starters. And this joke of a bullpen is going to have them last in the division before long.
The pitching failed us today, and that is my concern going forward.
Man, Palencia just completely folded.
Blame it on Tucker if you want, but there were still 2 outs in the inning.
Cubs gonna win the next 2 games
Not real impressed with Ballesteros yet. One hit out of the infield so far. And the slide to home, missing home plate. 🙄
Gotta win these games guys. If we’re one of the top offenses in the league we need to get these easy wins
I never liked Daniel Palencia coming out the bullpen you can’t come in the game throwing fastballs SMH, that the pitch every MLB player love to hit.
The last two batters he threw 8 fastballs no secondary pitches SMH
Tucker not hitting and he's Defence is awful.
I know my boy missed home plate tonite but I cant help loving chubby players.
Hes so young too, he might be a John Kruk type in his 30s. 🤞
Counsell.
What are you doing?💢
Brown(32).
Do you want to win?
If you don't want to win, go to 3A.❗️❗️❗️

What a bum, send him back to A ball to learn how to slide home. Loser!!!!!
Counsell and the Cubs.🟦🟦🟦
If you really want to go to the World Series, get your pitchers up to the next level. 🌎️
Padres, Dodgers, Mets.
You're not letting them win the postseason easily.🟨🟦⬜
Strengthening your pitching is essential. 🤾🤾🤾🤾🤾🤾🤾
