What happens if the A’s ballpark isn’t built? There’s a plan for that

  1. You know we’ve hit a moment when the Fisher honks over at the LVRJ start publicly wondering if there’s ever going to be a stadium.

  2. Hmm considering it would be a massive embarrassing failure, after years of massive embarrassing failures, FJF should be forced to sell. Clown show.

  3. I have written a lot of verbal checks that John MF Fisher cant get this done

We just need to wait a little longer

  4. This is kind of funny

    >The county began emphasizing decommissioning plans for major projects following the failed SkyVue observation wheel project that was planned for Las Vegas Boulevard near Mandalay Bay. After the project failed to reach completion, a pair of 247-foot-tall concrete towers have remained an eyesore on the site since 2012, because no decommissioning plan was in place.

  5. “The A’s and Clark County are still working to finalize the development agreement for the MLB ballpark project.”

So they really are just moving dirt around the Trop site right now huh? JFC I will be shocked if this is done by 2028 and a little less shocked if it ever even gets done.

  6. On the 180 day abandonment clause, what is defined as no work getting done?

Is it getting to certain thresholds such as needing the site graded, foundation laid etc? Or could Fisher send a dude in a hard hat to kick rocks to stall the project as he scrambles for funds?

  7. What happens if As reach the playoffs or even the World Series while playing in Sac? It would be hilarious for games to,be played in West Sac.

  8. My question is why is this even a thing? Fisher clearly said that Vegas is happening right (🤨)? Sure Clark County is potentially trying to save their butts but I just find it odd. But who knows, I’m no developer or construction guy. I’m simply an Oakland A’s fan thats rooting for Fishers failure

  9. It’s wild and a decent shot of hopium that Bootlick Akers’ bosses are telling him to write this expectations-lowering bullshit.

“The bond would be held by Clark County and would be used to decommission the stadium project should the team cease work on the $1.75 billion project.”

And the development agreement, which hasn’t been finalized yet, is contingent on the FJF putting up $3.7 million for the decomission fee. Doesn’t seem cost-prohibitive but he’s still spent 0 dollars so far.

Why would you possibly be talking like this if construction is supposed to start in June (fka April fka December 2024)??

  10. This article coming from the LVRJ of all publications is so fucking funny

  11. So Fisher either writes a $3.7 million check Wednesday, or he doesn’t…

But even if he does do it, I’m still betting that’s it’s to keep the illusion alive. Remember, he gets something like $70 million in revenue sharing from MLB as long as he has a plausible plan in place.

The problem with a $1.7 billion dome (or now 2 billion?!) is that the LV subsidies aren’t going enough to make it a break even deal for Fisher. He can only sell so many tickets in Vegas and there’s now virtually no chance at a significant local TV deal. He will lose money if he builds this stadium and he will lose hundreds of millions of dollars.

Consider that when the stadium was to cost $1.5 billion, there was no one willing to partner with him. Why would anyone want to go halfsies now that it’s MORE expensive with the same revenue potential?

    FJF

    Sell the team

How’s that GAP stock doing nepo-baby?

  12. Breaks my heart that we could have had 3 to 4 more seasons in Oakland.
