Giants in their city connects out in the field. Bird song is warmed up. He’s ready early. I guess he’s channeling his time as a reliever. He’s ready to pitch tonight. And for tonight’s first pitch, as soon as the clock hits 6:45, which it hasn’t yet, as soon as it does that, ready for the playbyplay, standing by. Here is my friend and partner, John Miller. Two and two the count. Here’s here. Here’s a uh first pitch fast ball for a called strike on the inner third just above the belt. I was trying to build it up a little bit. That would Man, you you’re a builder. Now the pitch and that’s in there. Strike two call. That was a 98 mph fast ball. What time do you think first pitch was thrown, Dave? 6:45. No, I mean, make an estimate. The two pitch is a highf fly ball to right. Drifting back and under it, Ystreky. And he’s got it. One away. That is the time sponsored by Planet. What What temperature do you think it was? Uh, let me lick my finger. Hold it up. Uh 63Β°. Wow. Yeah. Almost within 10Β° of Planet Fitness. We’re all strong on this planet. One down here is Bobby Wit Jr. And he takes just off the inside. That ball just kind of bounced off the glove like a like it was shot out of a cannon and ricocheted halfway down the left field line. Here’s a the one pitch. How old back to the screen? One ball, one strike. When did you get everything that you wanted to set the game up, Dave? I know you got the lineups in the umpire. Did it get the umpires? Got the umpires. Got the disclaimer. A lot of sponsored elements in. Beautiful. So well done. Here’s the 1-1 pitch in the dirt and the count is two and one. Change up there at 91 miles per hour. I was ready to go if we had any more uh time to kill. I was ready to go to the uh out of town scores, but I didn’t I didn’t go there. The Toyota out of town scoreboard. Pretty good night for the Cubs in Miami. Here’s the twoon-one pitch. Swing and a miss. Hard slider that broke sharply off the outside corner and the count is 2 and2. 91 miles an hour. By the way, the shadows and sun an issue if you’re a hitter right now. Looking out past the pitcher into the bright sunshine. And there’s a swinging strike three and a high 98 mph fast ball. Bobby Whit Jr. is down. Two down in the first. That gave you a chill, didn’t it? That that got me going a little, I have to say. I mean, Bobby Whit Jr. Not not many guys can do that to Bobby Wit Jr. Here is Vinnie Pascantino, last night’s ultimate hero for the Royals. He had a two-run homer for the first runs of the game. That was in the eighth inning. And he takes one right at the knees for a called strike at 97 miles per hour. Puscino is the Royals home run and RBI leader so far this year. Eight homers, 28 batted in. Now he swings and misses. That was a change up. He followed up the 97 mph change up at the knees and then threw the 91 mph change up that came in at the knees and then plunged downward. Nasty. The O2 pitch swing and line drive base hit to left field. That was another change up. That ball was up after all of the superlatives and all of the perfect perfect execution of pitches. That one he left up and it was slugged into left field. That’s That’s not where he wanted that one. So, Pascarino, although Pascortino is the the kind of a guy, he’s not a base dealer. If you can hold him to a single, keep him in the ballpark. Okay. Now, here is Salvi Perez. That’s the other thing, though. Salvi Perez can launch a ball out of any ballpark. Now, he takes just off the outside corner with a slider. Good eye by Perez. And he’s not known for that. He’s known for going up to render a to swing. Big, strong, powerful right-handed hitter. Two down, runner at first. And there’s a swinging strike. And that was a slider at the knees. One ball and one strike. The Giants with Birdong pitching. Bailey catching an infield of Wade Fitzgerald, Adamus, and Schmidt from first over to third. Ramos in left, Lee in center, Ystrekyky in right. One-1 pitch, swing, and a miss. And that was another slider. And that was up. That was right out over the heart of the plate, but it was apparently the last thing in the world that Salvi Perez was expecting. He swung at it like it was a fast ball and he was way out in front. A one-two pitch. Fast ball. Oo, just a bit low. And when I say low, it was low according to the Statcast strike zone. Low by half an inch. Two and two the count. Here’s the set. The pitch little soft bouncer towards short and it’s picked up by Adamus and the throw to first in time. I think Adamus thought that Schmid was going to go over and take that one and because I thought that and everything everybody in the ballpark. Your day in baseball starts with MLB Central. This is Giants baseball on KNBR 1045 and 680. Coming to you live from the Hawaiian Airlines broadcast booth. The Giants retire the Royals scorelessly in the top of the first. And now they come up in the bottom of the first with Mike Gstreky, Wilmer Flores, Jung Hu Lee set to bat against the right-hander veteran. He’s been around a long time and he’s still pitching well. Michael Lorenzan. Here’s Lorenzan. Tall right-hander into his wind up. He throws. Yeah. Shows Bunt and takes a called strike. 95 mph fast right on the outside edge. On one. Ymsky with a 376 on base average. Five homers, 17 batteratted in. Now he takes a fast ball up and away. ball and at one strike the engine throws iron outside again. Two and one the count. Wilmer Flores on deck again. The visibility not the best if you’re a hitter. Here’s the two-1 pitch. Swing and a drive foul off the left field side and up into the sweet level. Two and two the count. The sun still shining brightly out in deep center off the center field fence and off the hitter’s backdrop and the scoreboard complex reflecting back into the eyes of the hitter. The hitter and the pitcher in entire infield and all of left field in the dark shadows. Two and two pitch and outside three and two. Lorenzan has been in nine games bought as a starter. Three wins, four losses. 3.76 earned run average. 50 two and two/3 innings, 50 hits a lot and nine home runs. 3-2 pitch. He has swing and he hits a high drive into center field going back to the edge of the track. Now squaring up to make the catch is Isbel. Isbel in center with Vio in left and Waters in right. The infield is the same as played in last night’s game. Now Wilmer swings and hits a high foul off the first base side. coming over as Pascantino comes over to the far end of the dugout and the ball is over the net and hits off the roof of the dugout bouncing up into the crowd on one to Wilmer Flores. Wilmer still leading the major leagues in runs batted in. 42 RBI’s, 10 home runs. Now the pitch that is down and away with a slider. Yankees are playing at home tonight and they have a 5-2 lead on the Toyota out of town scoreboard. Game is in the ninth inning. Here’s the pitch now. Wilmer hits a soft liner over the head of Posantino down the right field line. And it’s juggled out there by the right fielder Waters after after a long run. who got to the ball along the line and still hadn’t even was hit so softly and had not reached that sidewall, that angled wall and then he juggled the ball. If Wilmer was a fast guy, he might have just kept on going. And hey, stop me if you’ve heard this. He’s not a fast guy. Wilmer with the first hit of the game. And here is Jung Hu Lee. By the way, Aaron Judge had a couple of RBI’s in that Yankee game tonight. Here’s the pitch to Lee and a fast ball right down the middle for a called strike. Judge in the eighth inning with a two-run homer, 16th homer. So that gives him 43 runs better. And he leads the majors now. Now the pitch Lee takes very high. One ball, one strike. First baseman Posantino on the bag with Wilmer Flores. Massie at second. Whit the short stop and Wit is pulled way over almost up the middle playing Lee to pull and Garcia the third base. Florenzen at the belt. Throws swinging a miss. And he changed up on him. He fooled him. One ball, two strikes. That game’s over in New York. By the way, the Yankees beat the Texas Rangers 5-2. Here’s the pitch now. And that is up and away. A fast ball missing. 96 mph. Lorenzan, who has been around a while. He’s 33 years old now. Still throws really hard. He was a trade deadline acquisition by the Royals last summer. Two-2 pitch. Swinging a foul. Bouncing back to the screen. That was a cutter that came way off the inside corner right in in the hands of Jung Hu Lee Lee who knocked in the only run the Giants scored last night with a double 276 average. Six homers, 13 doubles, two triples, 30 batted in. One out, runner at first. The pitch swing and a foul lifted to the left and back into the lower deck. Two and two the count. Little bit of a breeze. Although the forecast was calling for gusts up to 28 mph and we’re not having that right now. Here’s the two and two pitch swing and there’s a fly ball into right field along the line. On the move to his left is Waters and makes the catch near the foul line. He was running laterally and was parallel to the warning track as he went all the way to the foul line to catch that one. For Lee, he kind of right off the end of the bat. Didn’t have a whole lot behind it. And that gave Waters the time he needed to catch up to it. Two down, Wilmer Flores still at first. And here is Elliot Ramos, powerful right-handed hitter. and he takes high for ball one. Ramos had one hit last night and it was in the eighth inning with a man aboard and one of the hardest hit balls of his career. Now the one pitch swinging the miss. That was a slider and that fooled him. One ball, one strike. What was it, David? 116 miles an hour off his bat in that eighth inning. 116 Nothing nothing here in the first inning. Two down, runner at first. And there is a called strike. A fast ball right on the inside corner. And Elliot turns and looks at the plate umpire Charlie Ramos. Almost as if say that was a little too perfect, wasn’t it? Here’s the sat. Here’s the pitch with Wilmer running and a foul back to the screen. They were not holding against Wilmer so he just took off. One and two the cattle Wilmer who has a steel not like he doesn’t have any steals and truly Lorenzo was paying no attention to him whatsoever. Now the pitch very high for a ball. Two and two the count fast ball missing after he took off in that previous pitch. Possentino came in. He had been playing behind him and he’s now playing in front of him, closer to the bag. Laorenzan delivers and a foul right off the fists and into the Royals dugout. That was right over toward Royals manager Matt Cotero. Catrero. Say that name for me, will you, Dave? Matt. Matt Quattro. Two and two. The count again. The pitch swing wide into right center field. That’s going to get down. A base hit. Wilmer around second digging for third. The ball is retrieved by Isbel the center fielder in the alleyway. And he throws back into second. And the Giants have runners at first and third. Pretty gritty at bat there by Elliot Ramos. And finally he got a spinning slider that didn’t do a whole lot of sliding. But now with two down, Willie Adamus will come up. Adamus, whose average for the year is only 219, but here’s the pitch to him and it’s high and tight. for ball one. Pitch number 24 thrown in this first inning. It’s become a stressful inning for Lorenzan. When I say but he is hitting over 300 with runners in scoring position for the year. Now there it is. And that’s a called strike on the outside with a slider. One ball, one strike. Nothing nothing score. The Giants with a threat here. Flores got a one out single and with two down. Ramos got a base hit. Flores over to third. The 1-1 pitch high and tight with a fast ball. Two and one. And I think as the play part goes out to do a little landscape work, the the c I don’t know, something happened with the catcher. Salvi Perez, the umpire went out and gave him a few moments to uh fix whatever the problem was. Now we’re ready to play. Two and one the count. The pitch on the way. Swing and there’s a popup. Shallow right field. Coming in is Waters makes the catch. Two hits two left for the Giants. Nothing nothing after one on the K&BR Northern California Honda dealers radio network. Exclusive access. Wow. Here’s a first pitch strike to Michael Garcia. A fast ball from Hayden Birdong. Nothing. Nothing as we start the second. Now a curveball and that’s over the inside corner. Right. Two calls. Kevin Bio is on deck. And then Michael Massie two strike pitch and another curve and it’s foul tip and that got the played umpire. And we’ll pause here for station identification on the KN&BR Northern California Honda dealers radio network. This is the flagship of Giants baseball and KMBBR San Francisco the sports leader. Two strike count to Mike El Garcia who’s having a An excellent season so far. 02 pitch. Lie drive down the right field line and it’s just fair. Hits off the angled sidewall. The car comes to Yas and he throws over to first behind him. Back to the bag after his turn. Garcia and he’s safely back with a single. Well, that’s what he’s been doing so far this year. Ikel Garcia came into this game with a 306 batting average and a 374 on base percentage. Five homers, 20 batted in, 13 doubles. That would have been a double in Kansas City in a lot of ballparks, but not Hebrew. Now, here’s a fast ball just off the outside to the left-handed batting Kevin Beio, the son of the Hall of Famer Craig Beio. out to the stretch. Bird song throws and he’s down and in with a slider bouncing in the dirt. So the count is two and0. That was backhanded out of the dirt by Patrick Bailey. And then he took the ball out of the glove and leaned around the left-handed batting Beio as if to make a pickoff throw to first, but Garcia was not tempting him, so he did not throw it. Here’s the pitch in there for a P strike. A fast ball knee high on the inside. Two and one the count. Bio. 62 at bats for the year. A 177 batting average. He gets a lot of walks though. Left-handed hitter. Middle infield double play depth. There’s a sharply hit grounder foul to the far end of the first base dugout. The Royals dugout. Two and two. The count. Nothing nothing here in the second. Bio with Massie on deck. Starting with Bio. The last four hitters in the lineup. All will bat left-handed against Birdsong. Two and two pitch in the dirt with a change up. Knocked down by Patrick Bailey. And it ricochets off his glove and rolls out in front of the plate onto the infield. Kel Garcia holding on at first base. So now it’s a three and two count to Beio and he’s starting to build up his pitch count a little bit. That’s 25 pitches. He might be somewhere between 70 and 80 pitches for the game. They’d like him to maybe get in five. There goes the runner. The pitch is swung on and missed. Strike three. They’ll throw down a second in the dirt. They bring up on a hop and the tag by Adamus. Not in time. And that hop is what cost him. He had to reach the glove up to field the bounce and then bring it back down. And Garcia, the umpire thought, slid in under it. But the Giants, after checking at the video room, they’re going to challenge this call. And the umpires in New York will weigh in. There was Jordan Baker making the announcement to the crowd. And very, very close at second base. And the first view I had of it. Well, I I think maybe they got him. What do you think, Dave? He might have touched him right before the the spike hit the bag. I mean, barely, but I think he might have gotten him. It was a great tag by Adam Thomas, as you described it well. That was that was a tricky hop. A a perfect throw, and he’s out by plenty. Oh, we There’s one angle that makes it appear, but you can’t say with a high degree of certainty that that his foot was not on the bag yet, although it seemed to me that it wasn’t on the bag from that angle. They have other angles that they can check with. Back in the replay review war room in New York City, this replay challenge is sponsored by Putnham Family Dealerships. Car shopping driven by you. Well, they’re giving it a lot of looks. I think he’s I think he’s out. But again, I’m I’m not getting the the other look. I think he’s out. I do. We we we just saw another view from the outfield that gave you a better idea as to whether his foot was on the bag yet. And I think from that angle, he didn’t really look like his foot was on the bound. Now remember, the call was safe. So they have to have something that proves without question that that was the wrong call if they’re going to change it. There’s the rub. One way or another, they need to make a call. Where are they? They’re stuck in the Lincoln [Music] Tunnel, but we have a, you know, they give us a shot of that replay room. There are three umpires all looking at the monitors [Music] simultaneously. They’re grinding this one out. All right, let’s get the call. Well, and from what we saw on the in-house monitor here, I think we would definitely agree with that. Vic Carapata and James Hoy are the replay review crew chiefs back in Manhattan. So, two out of nobody on. Here is Michael Massie, another left-handed hitter. Two down, nobody on. And he takes high and tight for ball one. Now, that is a difficulty cuz that that was a long long interlude there. Now, here is a curveball in for a called strike. One and one for the pitcher just standing out there and not pitching for a long period of time. One-1 pitch. swing the miss. That was a change up and it completely flumxed Massie. He ended up swinging in a a change up that plummeted down into the dirt. So, it was the quick throw by Bailey to second base, but it was really the tag by Willie Adamus that was the key to it. Two down, base is empty. the one-two pit as a pop fly along the right field line how it hits up on the netting above the angled wall down there. A check of who’s on deck sponsored by Timbertech. Timber decking and railing. Everything wood should be. Visit timbert.com. Drew Waters on deck. There’s a bouncer foul off to the right toward the Kansas City dugout. Giants nothing, Royals nothing. That’s the seventh time that Garcia has been thrown out trying to steal this year. One-two pitch swing and a pop up foul back toward Dave Fleming. Heads up, Dave. That drops down below into the seats. One, two, pitch and a curve. Had him way out front and it kind of squibbed it right off the end of the bat. Fouled to the left. That was a guy who caught that foul ball that landed in front of us. in a Jerry Garcia psychedelic Giants jersey. I’ve never really seen one of those. Here’s the one-two pitch. And that bounces way out in front of the plate. A curveball. It was You couldn’t call it a strike cuz it bounced about 8 ft in front of the plate. Although on the bounce, I think it did go right across the plate at the knees. Two and two. The count. He throws. Swing a miss. He struck it out with a change. long at bat there. He’s thrown 35 pitches in these first two innings scorelessly. However, take a hack at guessing which baseball player or maners said the following. I really don’t know what to say. He’s been swinging the bat well this week. Now the one strike offering and that is in there for strike two called a curveball on the inside corner. Lamont’s overall number is still ugly. 172 batting average 271 on base percentage 02 pitch and low with a change up. But Lamont, remember last Monday, a week ago, Monday, they gave the night off with a right-handered pitching just to try and clear his head, take a little of the pressure off. Here’s the one-two pitch up and away. And then Lamont had a very good game the next night. And the Giants then faced a left-handed the next day. They had that day off. Here’s a two and two pitch. Swing and a soft ground ball toward the middle. Ranging over to his right to glove that ball. Second baseman Massie spins and throws him out at first. One away. Wade got that one right in the hand. This got no wood on it to speak of. He’s gone. And here is Casey Schmidt. Schmidt. that last night and the Jazz had a terrible time squaring the ball up up and down the lineup against Boubage except for Casey Schmidt. Now he takes a called strike slider right on the outside corner. Bob Melvin said that’s one of the reason why they they’ve missed Schmidt while he was injured. He has shown a a great ability to hit lefties and hit them hard. There’s a swing and a foul tip and he went out of the strike zone. A fast ball that had a lot of movement on it, a two seamer that ran way off the inside corner and he swung at it and foul tipped it. Suit up this season at mlbshop.com. Nothing. Nothing to score. And he swings here and tips that one. That got a piece of Salvi Perez as he does not look happy. He came up out of the crouch and kind of looking very sirly. It was like he scored a touchdown in a Super Bowl and his catcher’s mask was the football. who spiked it as hard as he possibly could and he said a bad word when he did crying out Pete’s sake or something like that. The Spanish equivalent of that paraphrase that got him inside just above the left knee on the inside of the leg thigh. Ouch. Oh, and to the count to Casey Schmidt. Nothing, nothing. Score. Last of the second. One out, nobody on. Now the wind up. Lorenzan pitches in the dirt and and skips right on through the left-handed batters box to the back stop. Beautiful night here in the city by the Bay. Day game tomorrow. Baseball in the sunshine tomorrow. Logan Webb for the Giants. We haven’t heard about Kansas City’s pitcher yet. One-two pitch. Swing to the miss. And that ball was way off the inside corner again. He swung in a couple of pitches that that was like a foot off the inside. Almost hit him. First strike out for Lorenzan. And Patrick Bailey will come up. Here’s the leaderboard update sponsored by Bank of America, proud sponsor of the Junior Giants, helping inspire tomorrow’s leaders on and off the field. The pitch now to Bailey swinging the miss. That was a change up and just fooled him big time. He was way out front. One-1 Bailey switch hitter batting left-handed, 185 average. He drops a bunt up the third base side and it goes fouled. They were giving him the bunt and he decided, hey, let’s let’s take it out. If Fitzgerald is on deck and I think, you know, generally speaking with two down and nobody on the the timehonored strategy, the the guy who’s at the plate is needs to try to get an extra base hit. But if you can get the ninth place hitter up in the inning, whether nothing happens after that or not, well, I think that’s that’s a worthy cause. He’s behind 0 and2 now. Here’s the pitch swing and a hard ground ball foul up the first base side. At the very worst, if you get on base here, at the very worst, even if Fitzgerald does nothing at all, then you get the chop of the order in the next inning. On to the count to Patrick Bailey. Short stop. Bobby Whit Jr. way over toward the middle. There is strike three called a fast ball down the middle right around the knees. Three up, three down. We head to the third. It is nothing nothing on the KNBR Northern California Honda. Let’s see if we can figure out the following baseball slang term. Today’s phrase is oppo taco. Do you know what it means? Oppo taco. MLB Network Strike Zone Wednesday and Friday nights all season all state dates or situations. to John and Dave on KNBR 1045 and 680. Third inning, nothing. Nothing. The Royals coming up against Hayden Birdong. And with great pleasure, I give you David B. Fleming. Thank you, John. A first pitch slider to Drew Waters, the switchhitting right fielder tonight for Kansas City. missed high. So, it’s ball one. Bird song throws. And this one right over the outside corner. A slider for strike one. They had a little game show like in ballpark between inning entertainment. They uh like a Levis’s themed hide the ball guessing game. Here’s a fast ball that goes to the back stop. And it took the the woman who was the contestant. She was just trying to grind out the right answer. and Hayden Birdong and all the players were on the field ready to go and she was still playing the the game. They had they had to get her answer out so we could actually get back to the ball game. Here’s a ball chopped foul. It’s two and two. And she got the right answer as well. She did. She did. She won. So, congratulations. And now Hayden Bzong back to work. Is it one, two, or three? Uh uh uh. Birds on bounces a change up in front of home plate. Full count. Three and two. That was three us. Is that your guess? Uh uh. And the the John’s telling you the condensed version of the actual of the actual game. 3-2 pick is line to center field. Here comes Jung Hulie. He will slide and he couldn’t catch it. And a good effort by Jung Huli. Tumbled over and just could not catch the ball cleanly. Ended up knocking it down and keeping it around him. So Waters will stop at first. It’s a base hit for Drew Waters to start the third inning. Not very hard hit. I watching Lee. I I think he got a good jump. Went down to try to catch it. He got the glove on the ball, but as he was tumbling over, he he could not quite squeeze it. So now a fast runner and a pickoff throw goes down the first baseline. Fitzgerald sprinting, hustling to go get it. Then he bobbles the ball, picks it up and throws back into the infield. Waters goes to second on the E1. And that was almost an even bigger mistake as is. Royals have a runner in scoring position with nobody out after birds. There’s nothing Lamont Wade Jr. could do there. He bounced the pickoff throw well in front of him. So now you got speed. The power of speed it forced the error from BSong. At second, nobody out. Isbell take very high. Ball one. Well, BSong extremely sharp the first two innings, even given up a couple hits. His fastball command in this inning is a little erratic. The 10. Now a show of a bun, and a ball bounced in the dirt again. a curveball this time and it kicks away from Bailey and Waters goes to third. Well, a little sinking looping liner into center field essentially is turned into a triple. Error on a pickoff throw and a very wild pitch. Waters is at third with nobody out. And I Bailey just did everything that he could do now. a strike, a high slider. Two and one. Infield has come in for the Giants, which is interesting. And maybe just a nod to how good the Royals pitching is. A scoreless game, third inning. Two-1 pitch is in the dirt again. The slider, this time blocked successfully by Bailey. Three and one. Man, bird song for as sharp as he’s been in this game is all over the place. This is It’s one of the questions for Hayden. He’s been a reliever. This is his first start of the year. 3-1 pitch. Here it comes. And a fly ball to center field. That’s going to be deep enough. Lee over now. Comes in. Makes a catch. Tagging from third. Waters. Here comes the throw. And it’ll be cut off. Waters is just too fast. Jungu had no chance there. The Royals get the sacrifice fly and score. The first run of the game. It’s one- nothing. Well, they take advantage of just a soft base hit, throwing error on a bad pickoff throw. Wild pitch and a fly ball out. And for Birds on maybe a chance to just reset here now. Base is empty. One away. Top of the order for the second time through. Jonathan India first pitch swing. It’s a popup. Shallow left center. Adama’s backpedaling. Still backpedaling and we’ll make the catch. And there was nobody. There was no safety net. He was on the high wire with with no net cuz there was nobody there to help him. I think he called so early for that ball that Jung Hulie kind of pulled up and I I do believe the wind helped push that one farther and farther away from Adamus. He stayed with it and he made the catch for out number two. Here’s Bobby Whit Jr. and a first pitch curveball is in for a strike. It’s on one man. And BSaw in the first inning just blew Bobby Wit away. Now a swing and a chopper to third. Big high hop. Schmidt has it. The long throw just in time to get the fastest runner in the game. Literally Bobby Whit Jr. the number one sprint. Let’s see if we can figure out the following baseball slang term. Today’s phrase is oppo. Do you know what it means? Tyler Fitzgerald for the Giants. Bottom of the third. He swings and drives one to deep left field going back on the ball. Beio. He will leap and he caught it and he collides with the wall. His sunglasses come flying off. They shattered and he holds on to the ball. Man, Cav Beio put his body on the line and just robbed Tyler Fitzgerald of extra bases. The shards of his sunglasses which were perched up on the rim of his hat. He and his teammate Kyle Isbel are picking up pieces of those sunglasses and thankfully Beio gets up and he’s okay. And what a play that was. Wow. was Tyler Fitzgerald. That was not just some lazy fly ball. He hit that 104 off the bat toward the gap. That was that that ball’s got to be a hit like 90% of the time. Cavio just made a tremendous play. Good swing by Fitzgerald. Nothing to show for it. Out number one. One- nothing Kansas City. Bottom of the third. Mike Ystreky up for the second time. takes in the dirt. A curve for ball one. Coming to you live from the Hawaiian Airlines broadcast booth. Giants and Royals game two of this threeame series. There’s a wind up from Lorenza in the pitch up and away for ball two. Giants have Logan Webb lined up to pitch tomorrow. So it feels like the kind of game if the Giants can get this game tonight, they love their chances in the series finale. Then traveling on a long road trip, two pitch is a strike to a cutter right about knee high. Two and one. Stressky fly out his first time up. Bulmer Flores on deck, one out, nobody on. Giants trail one- nothing. They’ve scored one run in the series so far. Here’s the pitch. That one is right in there. Strike two. Royals are a very good pitching team coming into the series. Second best team earned run average in baseball. But even accounting for that, the Giants just haven’t put much pressure at all on the Royals. They did they did build an opportunity in the first. Couldn’t cash it in. 2-2 is fouled away off to the left. maybe six mph fast ball. Long road trip when the Giants come back home. The Padres’s are coming to town. That’ll be a big series, four game set. June 2nd, 3rd, fourth, and fifth. And there are tickets available sfgiants.com/tick. Those are very important games. 2-2. And Ystrepky lines one into right field. That’s a base hit. Playing it on a bounce is Waters, the right fielder. That’s two good swings to start this inning. One and out, one a hit. Fans have a base runner for Wilmer. Padres’s lost tonight on the Toyota out of town scoreboard there in Toronto this week taking on the Blue Jays and they got shut down. Chris Basset’s having a great year for the Blue Jays. He was the starter. Three nothing Blue Jays final. Andre as the pitch is low to Wilmer. Kind of a bluff start from Yustreky over at first and took a couple of hard jabs and then stopped. Andre began the night a half game ahead of the Giants. Giants one game behind the Dodgers in the National League West. Now a pitch and it’s in the dirt with a slider. Two and0 again. Yremsky just dancing around at first base. Whether he’s got real ideas about trying to steal a bag or just trying to take some of the attention away from Michael Lorenzan, we’ll see. Two and0 now. Lorenzan’s going to throw over. Yeah. Dies back safely. The threat of a steal helped get the Royals the only run of the game in the top of this third inning. Aiden Bzon made a bad pickoff throw and That put Waters in scoring position. One- nothing Kansas City. Two-0 pitch. D Flores is in the dirt again and picked out by Salvi Perez. Nice play by him. It’s 3 and 0. Let’s see. Wilmer. I I think most of the time Wilmer, he’s not one of those hitters who’s just dying to swing three 0. We’ll see if Lorenzan grooves him one. If Wilmer has a different plan now. on a fast ball on the inside corner. Ball to strike. That was not grooved. That was a good pitch. Jung Lee on deck. Still a very good hitter count. Big opening on the right side of the infield with Pasquantino holding hisky on the center fielder. Isbell shaded towards right center. Here’s the pitch. Wilmer hits a ground ball to short. Could be two width to second. One. A little bobble but still time to throw to first. It’s a double play. The inning is over. So not this time for Wilmer Flores. The Royals turn the double. Let’s see if we can figure out the following baseball slang term. Today’s phrase is oppo taco. Do you know what it means? Oppo taco. A home run hit to the opposite field. Austin with an oppo taco. So, he wasn’t quite ready to go. Birdong standing on top of the mound. Hayden Birdong, first start of the year for him. Back in the rotation, the wind up and the pitch and it’s a strike. And I I say wind up, it’s a very abbreviated motion from Hayden. Basically pitches from a modified stretch at all times. Here’s a ball just inside. Pass ball. Nice. Good pitch. One and one pass with Tino. the big hit of the series so far. Two-run homer last night against Tyler Rogers. Here’s a swing, miss. Curve ball. One and two. It was It was some big time power. He hit it out to right center field up over that 20 foot high wall. He’s big dude. Takes this one in the dirt. A curve. Two balls, two strikes to count. Plus pitch number 53. Birdong. If he could make this an efficient inning, I think he’d have at least a a shot to pitch another inning. We’ll see. Two and two. He throws. Pasputino takes high. This ball misses by a lot. Three and two. Probably not going to see Birdong go much past 65 maybe maybe 70 pitches. 3-2 and a ground ball over to short. That’s where Casey Schmidt is playing. And the Giants had Pascantino really shifted about as much as the rules will allow. Casey looked like a shortstop backhanded and threw across to first to get Pascantino. Schmid in the third inning made a nice play with the fastest player in the game running to first. Bobby Whit Jr. Salvi Perez the pitch. He hits a little bloop out into shallow left. Ramos running and he’ll dive and make the catch. Elliot Ramos some big time closing speed cuz off the bat that looked like he did not have much of a chance. What a play. Hung up just enough. And Elliot, he was eating up some ground, two down. Good defensive plays from the Giants in this game to support Bird Song. Here’s Mel Garcia. He takes a little bit inside for ball one. One- nothing Royals. Top four. Royals have three hits. All singles. Giants have three hits. Now that ball bouncing in front of home plate. Manaw, he’s bounced six or seven pitches of his 58. And I’m not talking about bouncing it around the feet of the hitter any like four or five feet in front of home. 20 is hit up the middle and past the reach of Adamus. It’s kind of a lowline drive. Garcia snuck it on through. Adamus if the swing fooled him a little. It was almost like he took a step in the opposite direction then broke to his left. Garcia with a two out hit. Kel Garcia is two for two. And here’s Kevin Beio. Speaking of great defense, Bio just totally robbed Tyler Fitzgerald in the bottom of the third of what would have been extra bases. Maybe a triple. He’s been a reliever exclusively this year until tonight. Here’s his one-two deio. He swings and misses. Strike three. That was a beautiful change up. Can’t throw it better than that. Goes down swinging. The bird song’s got four strike. take a hack at guessing which baseball player or manager said the following. I really don’t know what to say. Matt Chapman not in the lineup tonight. Just a day off. Has had a quiet home stand and plays relentlessly every day. 02 pitch in the dirt. Velvage has decided that he give Matt at least the the first part of the game off. He was definitely available off the bench, you can imagine, in a number of different capacities. The one-two Lee hits a ground ball to second. Backing up on it, Massie fields and throws out Lee who’s retired one away. Jung Hu and we saw some of this last year. His at bats with nobody on base have gotten significantly worse results this year than when he hits with somebody on and especially with somebody in scoring position. Think another step in the evolution of Jung Hu Lee is to make an improvement in that regard. Ramos waits for the first pitch. Elliott swings and misses. Fast ball. Strike one. One- nothing Royals. Bottom four. Open quiet for the Giants. Bird Song’s going to go back out there for the fifth. The 01 pitch just off the outside. A slider. One and one. Ramos had a nice at bat in the first inning and lined a base hit into right center field. The pitch in tight and it hit him. That got a piece of Ramos. Ricocheted off Elliot. The home plate umpire Charlie Ramos pointed him to first base and Elliot. Elliot didn’t want to go. Elliott was standing there. The Royals are asking their video room. The Royals are not going to challenge. That was funny because Ramos the ball just skimmed barely off the the protective mitt that Elliott wears to cover his left hand. And usually a hitter will just take the base, but Elliot Elliot was stayed in the batters box. I guess we’re near as hot as he is. You don’t you don’t want that. You want to swing. The Giants will take the base runner. Here’s Willie Adamus. the pitch. Adamus swings and misses. Giants need to get Adamus going. Talked about how traditionally he’s been a slow starter. Early May looked like, okay, here comes the real Adamus. He’s been taking some more walks, having some better at bats, but still hitting just 218 the pitch. He wildly swings and misses there. Man, that slider was way outside. Down his own two. Ramos at first, one out. One- nothing Royals. The pitch. Ramos runs and Adamus hits a high drive right center field and deep. Isbell chasing and he will not get there. It bounces and stays in play. Ramos coming around third. He’s going to score. Adamus two3 and he’s in there. Sliding with a triple. Giants have tied the game at one. Willie Adamus, man, he blasted that one way out towards the deepest part of the park and it just kept going. And give Ramos some credit for a pretty good read on the bases. Elliot at first had to hesitate because Isbel was chasing after it like he had a real chance to catch it. But then Elliot, he turned around second and got a good read and chugged home without a play, allowing Adam to go to third. Tie game. Still only one out. And the infield comes in. Lamont Wayade Jr. takes a high strike, a high curveball. Low and one. Willie Adamos with a triple. Wade grounded out his first time out. Let’s see if the Giants can get that second run home. Wade takes very high. Cutter. It’s one and one. That’s Adamus’s first triple since coming to the Giants before this year. Figure this a park where with his speed, he he can get a lot of those. A one-1 pitch high. Two and one. These are the kind of at bats where overall the Ji’s been really good this year. Had some frustrating ones though lately this kind of spot. Infield in runner at third, one out. Two and one. The count to Wade. The pitch is in the dirt. He threw a change up and Wade took it. Three and one. They got Casey Schmid on deck. And Casey, he was in I mean big time swing mode his first time up. It it could be that Michael Lorenzan is not real eager to challenge Lamont Wade based on that first at bat against Schmid. The 3-1 on the way. Lamont takes ball four in the dirt. Another change up and bounce that one. You just watch that sequence and I think there’s really not much question at all that Lorenzan was doing that on purpose. And if if Wade was going to chase, well, so be it. Also very trusting of his catcher, which why not? Perez many times a gold glove winner in the American League with that runner at third. He was bouncing pitches all over the place. Speaking of parents, he comes out to the mound for a Habis Law mound visit going by everybody on the infield. Royals going to set up some defense here with Casey Schmidt coming up. First and third, one out. They’ll move the infield back at double play depth and really even deeper than that with the shortstop width. The first pitch Casey takes right in there called strike one. Fast ball. It’s almost like Casey told himself, I can’t just come up hacking after what happened at his first at that one. He swings and hits a base hit in the left field. A low liner pass Garcia. Adam scores. Schmidt drives in the go-ahad run. It’s two to one Giants here in the bottom of the fourth. Wade to second and he stops there. And when Vigio gets the ball in, but Casey Schmidt comes through and beats the strategy of Lorenzan who seemed to be clearly pitching around Lamont Wade Jr. Casey didn’t hit it all that hard, but good at bat nonetheless. Gets the job done. Here’s Patrick Bailey. Still only one out. Two runs in for the Giants. Bailey hits a ground ball softly to first. Pascino is going to run, scoop it up, and step on the bag to get Bailey. And that’s all they’ll get. Smith, who does have pretty good speed, got a good jump on that slowly hit ground ball pastino. He scooped the ball and was looking at second and trying to decide did he have time to get Casey Schmidt at second base and opted just to take the safe out. I think it was the right decision. So now Tyler Fitzgerald who was robbed his first time up. This is a big moment in this game. Second and third, two outs. And now Lorenzan’s going to spin around and look toward first. There was nobody there to cover. just I don’t know whether he was trying to buy some extra time or what. Now the Royals are saying the pitchcom’s not working. Lorenzan may have made that little spin move and and stepped off just to because the he wasn’t getting the the pitchcom correctly. They’ll swap in a new one. Bailey retired. However, Fitzgerald in a spot here where a base hit with Schmidt’s above average speed at second. A base hit to the outfield and the Giants could double their run total. It’s two to one now. They could make it four to one with a hit from Fitzgerald. Fitzgerald’s gapper that was caught was out in left center field his first time up. Running catch at the wall by Beio. All right, ready to go again. Lorenzan throws. Fitzgerald takes strike on pass right at the top of the strike zone above the belt. 0 and one pitch number 72 from Lorenzan two Royals one. Here’s the pitch. Fitzgerald swings and misses. Well, he helped him. That was another one of those sliders. Jacks have had a hard time reading that pitch. Fitzgerald jumps back in the batters box. But down to the count 02. Here’s the set. A long hold. The pitch off the outside. He threw it again. It was almost like he was trying to freeze Fitzgerald. Lorenzan was going to take that clock all the way down. Two runs in for the Giants. They’ve taken their first lead of the series. The one-two Fitzgerald strikes out swinging. Change out. That’s a big out. It’s still a nice inning for the Giants. They get two and jump ahead, but Lorenzan limits. Moments in baseball have been broadcast on the radio since 1921. Smith corks one into right down the line it may go. Go crazy folks. Go crazy. It’s a home run and the Cardinals have won the game by the start of three to two and a home run by the Wizards. One and two. Lead off man Jonathan India is on deck. Royals got a run in the third. An unearned run. Guys got two in the fourth. They lead two to one. And there is a swing and a fellow and that got a piece of Patrick Bailey and he’s on his hands and knees in apparent pain after getting hit by that foul ball. looking at a replay of it now. Giants trainer Dave Gner, he’s going to come out along with manager Bob Melvin. A ball and two strikes to count to Isbel. On the Toyota out of town scoreboard, you mentioned the Yankees beat Texas 5-2 and Aaron Judge hit a two-run homer. That gives him 43 RBI’s. He leads the American League in that category. And in the National League, the Cubs beat Miami 14-1. Seiya Suzuki knocked in four runs. He began the day second in the National League in RBI’s behind Wilmer Flores. And now Seiya Suzuki leads the National League is tied with Judge for the major league lead with 43 runs battered in. Wilmer tonight has a single and a double play ball. He has not knocked in a run. Here’s the pitch now to Isbel. He lines one down the right field line. That’s going to be a base hit and it’s going to roll into the second archway. The carum played by Yas. He wheels around and throws in towards second but offline and late anyway. And Isbel has a double. Isbel after that long delay after the foul ball that shook up Patrick Bailey. And the next pitch was a hanging curveball right down the middle and he ripped it. And now here comes JP Martinez. The Giants pitching coach with bird song right at 76 pitches. Manager Bob Melvin said before the game he expected around 75 pitches. should be about right for Birdsaw. I’m sure BS would love to finish this inning. He’s got the lead. So, they’re having a big conference out there. A Habis Law mound visit. And I would think that uh the message is go get him, buddy. This is your last guy. Well, Bobby Whit Jr.’s on deck. Well, his 76th pitch was a hanging curveball and Isbel clobbered it. That was Isbel’s fourth double of the year. Now, here is India who fly out to right, popped out to shore, right-handed hitter. Birdsaw on the right-hander throws and a curveball low into the dirt. Ball one. Oh, Randy Rodriguez, a righthander, has started throwing in the Giants bullpen. Marvin Austin, the bullpen coach, right alongside the lead at second by Isbell. The pitch swing with a miss. Good slider that broke just off the outside at the knee. So maybe part of that visit was also just to stall for a little time, buy some time to give Rodriguez a chance to get ready. He is warming up in a hurry. The one-1 pitch, swing, and a miss. And he powered a 96 mph fast ball right by him. Right down the middle, held high. Came after a couple of off speed pitches. Looked even harder than that. If you’re Jonathan India, it’ll be pitch number 80. Bird song is ready. He throws. Hey, there’s a papa way up there. Shallow left center field and it is Ramos the left fielder. Kung huli was in the vicinity as well and Adamus but it was Ramos who took charge and made the great. Great moments in baseball have been broadcast on the radio since 1921. There’s a curveball from Michael Laorenzan, the right-hander to the left-handed batting Mike Ystreky. Called strike one. He has flight out deep to center and singled. One for two. Two to one Giants. Last of the fifth inning. That hard ground ball that hits off the glove of Lorenzo. Rolls out towards second. He chases after it, picks it up and has no play. An infield hit for Yusky. He hit it sharply back at the Remson and he tried to react quickly to it and shot the glove down but it hit off the fingertips of the glove and all he did was slow it up and he not touched it at all. It could be that Bobby Whit Jr. who was playing Yaz right up the middle might have been able to get to it and make a play. Yas is aboard infield hit. Here is Wilmer Floren. Wilmer has punched a single in right and grounded into a double play. Throw to first. Yas is back to the bag. Screky has five steals this year. Now Lorenzan pitches and that’s a slider right in there for a cold strike. Giants two, Royals one. Last half of the fifth inning. The pitch on the way. Swing and a ball yanked foul. Look how into the far corner of the Giants dugout. I have got one of the Giants coaches. How? Look out. Right in the midsection. 0 and two now to Wilmer. Here’s the pitch. The ground ball to first over to his right past it away into left field rounding second heading for third. Yusky and he’ll go there standing up. The ball retrieved by the left fieldielder Vio and thrown back into second. That was a ground ball to the right of Pasquantino and he gloved it. And then when he tried to get the lead runner at second base, his throw went behind Bobby Wit Jr. who was breaking to his left and went back to his right and he never got a glove on. What a break for the Giants. And here comes Jung Hu Lee. E3. Royals do not make many errors. Jung Hulie, left-handed batter, the Giants second leading RBI producer. He swings right out of his shoes on a change up. He didn’t get it. And one has did a fly ball to right and grounded out to second. This is a big spot now to do something to at least get Yaz home from third. The Giants ahead two to one. First and third, nobody out. Now Lee takes too high. Fast ball at 92 miles an hour. Pits number 82 thrown by Lorenzan. 33-year-old right-hander again. The shorts stop with the left-handed hitter up there. Whit playing almost up the middle. Here’s the pitch. high and tight that bends him back for a fast ball and it’s three and one. Randy Rodriguez up and throwing in the Giants bullpen once again. Three and one the count. Two on, nobody out. He delivers. Swing and a foul out of play off to the left. He got a change up. Was not a fat one either according to the stat pass strike zone. would have been called a strike right on the outside corner. Three and two to Jung Huli. Elliot Ramos on deck. 3-2 pitch. Swing of the line drive up the middle into center field. Lulu Lee gets it done on a curveball. hit kind of a soft liner over the head of Bobby Wit Jr. He had no chance to get to it and well out into shallow center in to score. Flores over to second and the Giants make it a three to one game. 31st RBI of the year for Jung Hulie. It was a curveball and it was up kind of a hanger and even with the mistake still really good two strike approach from Jung Hu Leia. The Royals are going to have a a Habislaw mound visit and finally get the bullpen going. Nobody’s warming up and I think for Kansas City they’re staring at a potential bullpen game tomorrow. We don’t know what they’re going to do, but as it stands right now, they might have a bullpen game tomorrow. They’ve used their high leverage relievers, three of their most important guys two days in a row coming into tonight. So, there’s pressure on Lorenzan and he’s made it to the fifth, but we’ll see. Here’s Ramos now. Two men on, nobody out, a run in. Here’s the pitch. Look at him. It almost hit him again. He did hit him with a pitch well to the inside. It skimmed off the top of his left hand and that started a two-run rally for the Giants. Nobody out. The pitch swing and a foul off to the right. Back out of play. Zerpa the left-hander and Cruz the right-hander warming up in the Kansas City bullpen. Now we’re in the fifth inning. This will already be the 89th pitch of the night for Lorenzan. He throws. Check swing. Did he go? An appeal. Yes. Jordan Baker, the first base umpire, said that was a swing. And we see the replay. It was it was the right call. One and two pitch swing and a ground ball fouled right between third base coach Matt Williams and the Royals third baseman Mikel Garcia. And on down the left field line with the ball dude. Giants three Royals one. A run in. Flores at second. Lee at first. Now the pit swing in the miss. He struck it out and he came in with that more of a sweeping slider. That’s the first out of the inning. Now Willie Adams, he knocked in the Giants first run of the game with a triple out into the deepest part of the yard way out by the 415 marker. One hop to the wall. He takes low and outside ball one on a slider. Away Jr. on deck. Thomas knocked in Ramos with that triple and then a little bit later Schmidt singled him home. That gave the Giants a lead. They lead now three to one. Here it comes. Swinging a Yanks a foul right at the Giants dugout on a hop. Hit the screen in front of the dugout. One ball, one strike. The Giants who had a chance after they got those two runs in the fourth inning, they had a chance to get more, but they did not. They’ve got one home here and a chance to do more as well. One-1 pitch in the dirt and that one bounces away from Salvi Perez. He runs back and to his left, grabs the ball out of the air and it ricocheted off his glove and it popped high in the air and over near the Giants on deck circle to the left of the plate is where he caught that one and the runners advance. And now Flores at third base at second. Two runners in scoring position here for Willie Adams. The infield comes in the pitch high on the inside with a fast ball. Three and one. Adamus with his 23rd RBI of the year with that triple in the fourth inning. Now he’s got two runners in scoring position here and he’s got the count well in his favor. 3-1 pitch and a popup foul out of play off to the right. He got a fast right down the middle of the plate and he didn’t get it. 92 mph. A sinker though with had some movement but it ended up right dead center of the plate. Ran two. Lorenzan again. Ready. Here it comes. Struck him out swinging. Broke off a great slider. Now Lamonte Jr. coming up. They’ve got a left-hander Zerpa ready in the bullpen and manager Quarro is going to make the move. But that’ll be it for Lorenzan who gets two straight strikeouts. Two for the Giants. Big hitters. First Ramos then Adamos. The Giants unable to add on so far. Wade up. Ramos over to cut it off and Refro is going to test him to throw. Came to the cut off man, Adamos, who then dropped it as he went to throw to second and Hunter Renfro wasting no time as a pinch hitter against Kyle Harrison. He’s got himself a leadoff double. It’s the eighth inning. The Giants have a 3-1 lead. It’s kind of a rude start to the inning for Kyle Harrison who was just dominant in the seventh. But now the Royals with the big hitters coming up will put some pressure on Kyle and JP Martinez Giants pitching coach is going to come out a law mount visit which might in part be to give the Giants some time to get somebody else up in the bullpen. Not that they don’t have faith in Kyle Harrison, but Kyle’s been used in a different role. He’s not usually sort of the the leverage late inning reliever with traffic all over the place. That’s one of Camilo Dval’s jobs and he’s the guy who’s going to start to warm up in the pen. So, Kyle will now stay out there. JP Martinez turns around and heads back to the dugout as Dval gets ready. You got the superstar on deck, Bobby Whit Jr., but also a dangerous hitter at the plate, Jonathan Indian. It’s only the eighth. It’s not the ninth inning. If the Royals get that run home, then they at least guarantee themselves a chance in the ninth inning where one swing could tie the game. But it’s not going to be against Harrison. Bon Melvin’s coming out. Doval didn’t look to me like Camlo was warming up for very long at all. I guess it’s one of the strengths of Dval is that he doesn’t need a whole lot of time, but Camo is going to be coming in to face Bobby Wit Jr. And I think for Bob Melvin, it’s all about the matchup. Harrison gets a nice It’s a great night for baseball. This matchup features some of the best talent in the game. A lot of power, a lot of marquee names. Here we go. Buckle up, folks. Just that one unearned run in his five innings. So good job. And I think you’re exactly right. There’s no doubt Birdong’s going to get the ball again, next time that spot comes around in the Giants rotation and maybe a chance to build him up even more next time as BSON got to 80 pitches tonight, his first start of the year. Well, Camilo Dval has been great, but this is a supreme test. Runner at third, one out. Bobby Whit Jr., the hitter against Camo. First pitch is fouled off to the right. Well, I guess that answers the question. And did Camilo have enough time to get loose? His first pitch was 100 miles an hour. 100 mph cutter, man. Hello. And and Bobby Whit, give him credit. He had pretty good swing. The 01 pitch is swung on and missed. Man, that is a perfect slider right on the outside corner. 90 miles an hour and it’s 0 and two. throw that pitch again and dare him to hit it. He can command it like that. Whit uses his timeout, steps out. Now he’s back in the box. Runner at third, one away. 0 and two. Doval comes set. Here’s his bet and a slider. He threw it again, but he did not put it right on the corner. And Whit didn’t chase. Outside ball one. Still not a bad two- strike pitch. He got Pasquantino with his power on deck. Left-handed hitter. Here’s the one-two. Whit hits a little topper and this is going to be a tough play. Wade will field dishes to Doval. He doesn’t get there in time. The run is scored and Bobby Whit Junior’s just too fast. He hit it so poorly. And Dval, who at first broke to field the ball and then had to change direction and try to get to the bag and take that feed. And Camlo, I mean, he hustled over there. That wasn’t a lack of awareness. That just was a difficult play. So, the run scores. It’s three to two. And now the tying run is the fastest guy in the game. Bobby Whit Jr. at first base with only one out. And puts huge pressure on the Giants, Dval and Bailey, to try to keep whip over at first. That’s just bad fortune. Here’s a ball up and away with a cutter. One and0 to Pascantino and it looked like a slide step from Dval which Camila has been doing a much better job this year of containing the running game. One and0 the pitch. Whit runs taken for a strike. Here’s the throw. The tag he is Oh, that’s second. Adamus with a great tag. Bailey with a great throw. I’m sure the Royals are looking at it, but they’re not going to challenge. Wow, what a huge, huge play. That is the fastest player in the game. Tying run, eighth inning. And just a terrific play all around. Dval to give Bailey a chance. Bailey to make the throw. Adamus with the catch. An athletic tag right on the helmet of Bobby Wit. Here is a called strike two. It’s one and two. I mean, that’s that’s as exciting as it gets in a huge pressure moment. The one two Pascino fouls it back. He had a pretty good swing. 100 mph cutter. Camilo Nval is just he’s made a massive improvement in terms of his ability to give Bailey a chance one and two. The pitch low two and two a hard slider. Bobby Whit Junior’s in that Royals dug out. We get a camera shot of him. He looks stunned. Can’t believe it. Two and two for a guy with big power. One-run game. The pitch. He hits it on the ground. Fowl first base side. That’s the second runner that Patrick Baileyy’s thrown out trying to steal in this game. It’s big part of the Royals game and the Giants are controlling the running game tonight. Bombie Whit Jr. 16 steals caught four times before that one. Now he’s been caught five times. Three to2 Giants. Two down. The 2-2 Pasquentino tops this one. foul. Only Luis Robert of the White Sox has stolen more bases than Bobby Wit Jr. in the American League and nobody in the National League has stolen more often than that either. So that I mean truly the ultimate test for a defense, a pitcher, a catcher. Two two Pascino. Another ball dribbled. Foul on the first base side. All right, let’s pause quickly for station identification on the KMBBR Northern California Honda dealers radio network. This is the flagship of Giants baseball and KMBBR San Francisco elite sports leader. This will be the ninth pitch of the advant of Vinnie Pasquantino. Big time power two pitch. He takes straight three called 101 the knees. Camilo Dval. This is Giants baseball on KNBR 1045 and 680. Giants three, Royals two. Kansas City gets a run closer. And now Willie Adamus will lead off for the Giants in the bottom of the eighth. Back for the playbyplay. Here’s John. Right, Dave? Very exciting. Here’s Adamus and Bolan pitches and a little bouncer past them out toward the middle. Ranging fire to his left is Rick who juggles the ball, grabs it out of the air, then throws to first. It’s too late. Hit softly and Adamus is shaking his right hand. He might have broken his bat on that, but with the grab over almost behind second by Wit as he tried to make the exchange, the ball flew out of his glove into the air. Then he grabbed it a second time and his throw to first was too late. It’ll be scored as a hit for Willie Adams. And now Lamont Wayade Jr. and he takes ball one. Taylor Clark, a right-hander, has started a warm-up in the Kansas City bullpen. Bolan, the fifth Royals pitcher of the game. Right-hander ready, delivers. And Wade takes a called strike right down the middle with a slider. One ball, one strike. Wade tonight has grounded out to second. Was grounded out to Short. The short stop wit way over toward the middle once again. Here it comes. Swinging in a miss. powered a fast ball by him on the outside corner. Belled high at 96 milesPH in the Giants bullpen. Ryan Walker is getting ready now for the ninth inning. There goes the runner. The pitch is swung on and fouled back to the screen. That was a 97 mph fast ball. Thomas off and running with the pitch. Of course, you never know. It’s he’s not in his prime any longer, but Salvi Perez has long had one of the the great throwing arms of any catcher in the game. The set, the pitch, check swing. Did he go and appeal? Yes. Dan Moriselle, the third base umpire, says that was a swing. The weight is over for three now. But here is Casey Schmidt. I’m with you. Camino Dval. What a job he did. The ball that Bobby Wit hit, he hit 66 miles an hour. And Wit’s the fastest runner in the game. Now Pascantino first baseman. The catcher south Perez out to the mound to visit with Bolan at Habis Law mound visit. It’s just hard to overstate how much better Camlo has gotten in containing the running game even after the play that you’re talking about. Now here’s the stretch by Bolan and the pitch and that is off the inside. You got a great weapon in the strong arm and the quick release of Patrick Bailey, but you got to give him a shot to use all of that ability and Camino did the one pitch and a slider is low. Two and0 has struck out and he lined a single into left field. It knocked in the go-ahead run for the Giants back in the fourth inning. gave him a two to one lead. And on a check swing, he hit a comeback for his last time. He’s one for three with an RBI. Now he takes and it’s a crawled strike. A fast ball right in the outside corner. Two and one. Giants three, Royals two. Two and one pitch that is low with a slider. 88 mph slider. Oscantino on the bag at first with Willie Adamos. Adamus has only two steals with the Giants this year. Been caught twice. Second baseman Massie shaded toward the middle. There’s a throw to first and diving safely back is Adamos. The Royals have really contained the running game. Royals have only allowed eight steals the whole year and thrown out six. Now the pitch too high for the fast ball and it’s ball four. So Adamus moves over to second free of charge and a walk by Schmidt. And here comes Patrick Baylor. Giants ahead three to two. They had two runs in the fourth and another run in the fifth. The Royals got an unearned run in the third and then they got that run in the eighth inning. And here’s a called strike on the outside corner belt high. Not a good pitch to hit. And it’s 0 and one. Bailey batting left-handed. He has struck out looking. grounded out to first and then had a soft line drive that was turned into a great catch by Bobby Wit. Now he swings. It’s a one hopper right back to the mound. Poland turns, throws the second one, back to first and for the second inning in a row, it’s a double play to end the inning. That’s with two men on. But the inning is over and Walker will come in with Peril Garcia. The big hits, all the great brats. You got to be kidding me. And all the swagger. Right-hander against right-hander and a slider is off the outside for ball one. Bailey doing the catching. Perez has grounded a short fly out to shallow left center. A diving catch was made by Ramos and he struck out his last time. Now he takes a fast ball on the outer third at the knees. 97 m an hour with that sinker. Strike one. Infield swung around toward the third base line against the big right-handed hitter. Here it is. And a broken back roller to short. Softly hit. Thomasson to get it. The throw to in time. One away. The most of the B with a lethal looking jagged edge ended up out at shortstop, but Adamus had to range in and to his left and he seemed to be able to focus on that baseball and the the shattered barrel into the bat. Ended up well away from where he fielded that ball. Thank goodness. So one out here is Mel Garcia who’s had two singles and then he struck out his last time. He also got thrown out trying to steal by Patrick Bailey after his first hit in the second inning. Three to2 Giants. One out, nobody on. He’s got five home runs for the year and the pitch and it’s down and in for the sinker. Ball one. Giants around the infield have Wade at first, Fitzgerald at second, Adamus the shortstop, Schmidt at third, Ramos in left, Lee in center, Yas in right. The pitch and the fast ball down in the way. Two and0. Ramos is deep in left field and straight up. Lee is deep and shaded a bit toward right in center, the pit. And that’s in there for a called strike. That’s right in the outer third at 97 miles at Ottawa. Just that across the body crossfire to a right-handed hitter. And Walker sets, kicks, throws, slider high in the air to center. In a little bit comes Lee. He’s under it. He’s got it. Two down. And now Mark Cannon. Hannah, who struck out as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning against Randy Rodriguez.
