Dak Prescott: Two Unselfish Guys | Dallas Cowboys 2025

And how much can you do? Uh, pretty much can do it all. Feel good. Um, uh, yeah, I think I’m just not cleared for contact, which we’ve got a while for that anyway. So, um, yeah, I’m out there in the team activities. Feel good. Just trying to obviously stay that way. Um, yeah, feeling great. You a big relationship guy. How you embrace what Shott has been trying to do now here? Yeah, he’s doing a hell of a job. Um, he’s doing a hell of a job. Uh, great job in building the culture. I mean, look at him right there, seeing it, dapping off guys, and that that’s him. You’re going to see him around wait room, the field, the locker room. Um, preaching about competing every day, but not only that, we’re doing them in team meetings, um, competing at practice. Um, and and that’s that’s the part about today’s practice, right? Is that fine line of competing, but but doing it smart and being disciplined about it. And, um, he’s just doing a hell of a job building the culture and, uh, in a sense starting it starting over and understanding that, yeah, we do have to do it from the ground up. And, uh, it’s been fun. How would you describe this Cowboys culture and what it’s going to become? It’s getting created. Um yeah, I don’t want to say that what it’s going to become. Um it’s something that’s got to define itself and um get created amongst all of us coming together, believing in it. Um believing in one another and understanding that this culture is going to be the reason that we win. D, what does it present for this offense when you have another weapon like George? Huge. Huge. Um yeah, very huge. I mean, then look at that guy’s tape. You see what he does, the kind of receiver that he is. He’s going to win the one-on- ones. He can win two versus one if he has to. Um, very very talented guy. When you can add him alongside of CD and the rest of the weapons that we have, I’m super excited. How did you find out about the trade and what was your initial reaction? Yeah. Um, pretty funny, I guess. I was actually away from my phone for a couple hours and go back to like six missed calls from Jerry’s assistant. So, um, had no idea, literally no idea what it could have been about. And actually a voicemail from Jerry, hey, I got some good news. I want to share it with you. So, uh, I called him back and, um, he was excited, uh, and he was just telling me that, uh, it happened, um, that it’d be released either later later that night or the next morning. And, uh, yeah, just a lot of excitement from the both of us. Can you do that Jerry voice again? No. No. One time. How big is energy? It seems like you guys are getting energy starting at the top with Shawn because a lot of fans, I think, they kind of roll their eyes. They’re like, you know, they’re trying to change the culture, but what are you feeling in the building? energy 100% a lot of it um as you said and starting from from Shotti and down to the coaches I mean did a hell of a job of of calling out the coaches uh in that instance yesterday and making sure that they’re accountable to that and just to hear their response and um not only their response the way that they approached practice and the way that they administered some energy and uh brought it themselves and made sure their players in each position group had it that collectively um you felt it out there uh in the practice yesterday and obviously today as well as the quarterback how do you kind of balance CD and George both wanting the ball and balancing distribution of passes and things like that as it gets going. Yeah, I mean I think um understand I mean having a conversation with them up front maybe hey there going to be some games and maybe one or the other. It’s tough, right? And that’s the beauty of having you two guys is I don’t know if it’ll ever be tough for both of you, but in that instance um those are two unselfish guys and truly they they want they want to win and uh when you’re not winning and you’re not getting the ball, trust me, I understand the frustration. So I’m never going to be mad at them for frustrating about wanting to win and wanting the ball. So uh it’s the communication. It’s the relationship that we’re building and we’ll continue to build whether it’s amongst me and GP or CD in the past where you were like in a normal offse all that. Am I behind? No. No. How did you catch up? Left the season early. I was hurt. Excuse me. Like my offseason started way earlier. So that’s Sorry. Sorry. Yeah. Sorry for the language, but yeah, my off seasonason started way earlier. So, that’s really essentially why I’m ahead on top of uh working with Brett, working with this training staff and and Luke. We didn’t think you’d do everything, but you’re doing everything like they said you’d be limited and stuff, right? I mean, people say a lot of things about me, man. I just show up and control what I can control and healthy, trying to stay healthy. Um, feels good. Um, and yeah, just trying to push the energy and and make sure I continue to get better. to be a not to be a devil’s advocate. Really, you’ve been around here a long time. You guys have had good culture, good brotherhood. Jason Garrett talked about the right kind of guy and having captains. Uh so this talk of chemistry and culture has been around here. You’ve you guys have said you’ve had good culture and you’ve had good brotherhood. Why would it be different this year? Why you said that’s going to help us win? Why would it be different this year than in past years? Yeah, I mean I think one um the approach of of how we’re building it. Um I think a lot of times may may in the past I’ve said it and I’ve I’ve maybe just been talking and not just talking or naive in a sense of talking about how great just the offenses was, right? Or and not necessarily the team and not necessarily offense connecting with defense, connecting with special teams. So, um, I I I believe that Shotti’s doing it the right way from the top down of of take the offense and defense away from it, take the positions away from it, take the coaching player aspect away from it, and let’s connect. And you’re talking to one of the most optimistic people I think you you’ll find. Um, I I’ve seen it the way that it’s going. I see the way that people are buying into it, and it’s hard for me to think anything different. before sometimes when coaching the younger generation requires a different approach too and I feel like Shotti and I’m just curious your thought. It feels like it’s almost like a college coach energy that he’s bringing to the NFL. Is there something to that with the way he’s coaching some of these younger guys? Yeah, I’m not sure. Um I’m not sure. I mean what it’s been 10 I guess now since I’ve been from college. So I do understand that you’ve got to get the best out of your guys. Um old, young, whatever. That’s the coach’s job is to get the best out of their guys. And so some guys you have to relate to them different um if you want to see their best or or talk about things away from football, their family if you want to get the best out of them. Um, and and yeah, sure, we’ve got some young college co or co college coaches in this year, but I think if more than anything, it’s about being hungry. And I think it’s easy to see that in youth at times. And maybe that’s what you’re asking and you’re feeling, but I would say more than anything, it’s about being hungry and and wanting to do everything the right way and particularly the hard the right way. The music at the practice is a little different, too, obviously. Is there was there any kind of a fight to try to see who’s control the music and and who is controlling That’s a shoddy question. Um, don’t pay attention to it. Don’t care. I love the vibe when when it’s on, but it’s just like crowd crowd noise. You hear it when you want to and you cut it off when you when you don’t. When did you realize you’re the nutrition or leaned out at all? Uh, no. I mean, I just think my fiance keeping me away from the sweets. Um, I asked for ice cream, she brings me protein, yogurt. Um, so I just think stuff like that honestly has helped. Um, the rehab, running as much as I’ve been doing for the hamstring. Um, but nothing major. D, when did it hit you that you’re the longest tenur player? Um, before during this offseason, I guess before the DLAW signed with Seattle, I knew if he did that, if Zach retired that that that would leave me in that position. And yeah, I mean, it’s it’s cool. It’s amazing how fast it happens. Um, yeah, and not taking anything for granted. And you mentioned how fast it goes. Like did you find yourself this off season going back thinking about 16 and the playoffs and every year that you made it and things like that? Have you reflected because of that on? Yeah, sure. I mean there’s reflection here and there especially I mean yeah when when you’re injured at the time that I was injured as long as I was injured different games. I love you too Sammy uh and Big Nate. Um that yeah there was time for that reflection. Um and yeah it just makes you that more humble that much more hungry and and blessed blessed to be here. blessed to be doing what I’m doing, walking through these doors every day. Um, playing the game that I love. He called you the old guy in the room. Fair. Yeah. Okay. I’m the uncle. The guys in there say that. Yeah. Yeah. That’ll be time last year CD wasn’t around because of a contract hold out. How different is it being able to have him from day one in the OTA? Yeah, that’s huge. Uh, that’s something that hard to even compare the the the two because they’re so different. Um, just having them here in OTAAS. Um, yeah, being able to work with him, getting that extra work in, um, and understanding, uh, yeah, that he’s going to be here. Uh, I think that’s huge. And then you bring in a guy like GP, we’re starting getting ready for game one now with the guys here. I mean, I don’t know if that’s fair in two days of being on the field. Um, I know I can go with the easy one, our first round pick, Tyler Bucker. and obviously it’s probably who I’ve spent the most time with getting in the huddle with them, him in the starting the huddle off with the ones and whether it’s um the responsibilities that he has to bring to the huddle um or whether it’s his communications on the line um he’s doing a hell of a job and you can tell this guy is a football player. Guy has a lot of pride standard in what he does and excited for him just to continue. Thank you. Perfect. Thank you all. Appreciate it.

Dak Prescott met with the media to discuss when he learned about the George Pickens acquisition, the energy that Coach Schottenheimer brings, why this culture will be different than past seasons, the unselfishness of George Pickens and CeeDee Lamb, and more.

  1. Its sucks for those of us that jerry jones has broken our Cowboys spirit into basically dust. Getting hard to be excited for the season with every single year being over hype for the "This our year" energy when every single year it seems we get more embarrassing and the mistakes and shxt that desperately needs to change continue to be incredibly blatantly obvious and we continue to do absolutely nothing about it. We all as fans get to watch and be heartbroken by the shxt show. I dont see what changes just because we got a new WR and some decent rookies. The issues in Dallas goes so much deeper than a few players.
Side note. "Unselfish guys" i highly doubt George Pickens has ever been called unselfish in his whole life 😂 were talking about the same drama queen that throws shxt and acts like a prepubescent teen girl because hes butt hurt he isnt getting the ball 😂😂 stop it

  2. if yall think he we choke again i feel difrent about him this season they are stacked of good players and everyone is saying super bowl i cant wait to see if this is true

  3. I'm ride or die with Dak Prescott, the man is such a great player and a much better human being. I will always have faith in you! Go out there and kick some ass!

  4. I love Dak Prescott. He's a criminally underrated quarterback and a tremendous leader. It makes me incredibly proud to say that he is the quarterback of the team that I root for, and he's a genuinely good and decent human being. The older I get, the more that stuff matters to me. I want him to succeed in the worst way.

  5. Now, they need to get the defense done it can't be all on Dak alone because if u looked at the team winning superbowls, it just not the QB alone it's the offensive line, the running backs, top-notch receiver's a really good TE 🙄 how about a really good defensive line stopping the run creating turnovers that's the recipe for winning #6 🤔 after seeing the great Patrik Mahomes against the Eagles defense 🙄 should let us all know u need more than one QB

  6. 😂😂😂😂all this Dak love early n the season from most of u n most of u fool's will turn on him like u do every season keep that same energy win or lose if it's on Dak that's one thing 🤷🏽 but if it's the whole team that falls then it is what it is 🤔#6

  7. I love my QB. I know he is going to ball out. I am very much hyped to see our team play together this season. SCHOTTY, to me, did an awesome job in creating this offense and defense coaches and players. DC4LIFE *️⃣ *️⃣ *️⃣ *️⃣ *️⃣ *️⃣

  8. League hates this guy for no reason most unselfish person on and off the field hope to see a healthy Dak making plays all 2025 szn

  9. Fake out dak I'm a say this #17 making 60 m's you have gotten alot of people fired players & coaches you play hurt this year Joe gone take your spot thats why we brought him in let's win this superbowl
