But let’s get to this one between the Miami Marlins and the Chicago Cubs. The Miami Marlins sending out Max Meyer for the start in this one. While the Cubs will counter with Cade Horton and Meyer coming off of a a start where he got the win last time out. It was, you know, a five inning performance. Gave up four runs, three earned on six hits with seven strikeouts over five innings against the the Tampa Bay Rays and uh now has to pick it up and go up against the Chicago Cubs lineup that is starting to put it all together once again. I mean, you know, shame on me for trying to take a shot on the uh on the Marlins the last couple days and tell you, it kind of blew up in my face, especially on uh on Tuesday as the uh the uh the Marlins just got beat up in that game. And now, you know, um I I think, you know, with the rubber match on tap, Meyer in, you know, early on in the season maybe could have been a guy that I would have been willing to take a shot on, you know, for the uh for the series win for the Miami Marlins. But the problem here is that he has struggled, you know, in his last four starts. You have Meyer issuing a 7.97 ERA. This is going back to that 14 strikeout game that he had at home against the Cincinnati Reds. Since then, an ERA just under eight. And now you’re facing a Cubs lineup that in the last two weeks against right-handed pitching has not been anything special in terms of like the batting average against righties. Um, you know, the team OPS numbers are still below league average. The isolated power numbers are all all right, but the thing about the Cubs is that they’re not really striking out. They have a strikeout rate below 20%. Their walk rate at 10.8% is actually the highest in baseball. So, if Meyer doesn’t get the control underneath him, it could be a bit of a rough outing for him here. Now, the Marlins are hitting 260 against right-handed pitching, so I do have to give them that. Um, but Corton looked solid in his lone start this season. I mean, he gave up two home runs, gave up three runs on seven hits over se over five innings of work. And right now, I think he just has, you know, the more trustworthy lineup behind him. The the Marlins at times can be very very hit or miss um with their offense. Yes, there’s a lot of times where they provide value and they’re catching, you know, plus prices as a home dog kind of like they are here. But, you know, I I just think that the Cubs are more trustworthy. You look at some of their offensive performances. I mean, their last five games overall after uh Tuesday’s victory, they’ve scored six or more runs. So, the runs are there for uh for the Cubs. Not so much consistently for the Marlins. Yeah, they had the walk-off win on Monday, but before that they had scored five runs against the Rays, zero runs before that, nine runs to start the series, three runs against the Cubs, 422 32. So, you see the uh the production has just been all over the place. And I think that um I think that the Cubs can get the job done here. I think Horton can provide a solid enough outing. So, I’m going to roll with the Cubs in this one on the money line. And that’s going to be my free pick.
