Orioles vs. Brewers Game Recap (5/21/25) | MLB Highlights | Baltimore Orioles

as the Brewers go for the sweep here against the Orioles. And look at making a better home stand. They’re sending another young pitcher to the mound here, their rookie Chad Patrick. And he has been great. He’s been very steady for them. This will be his 10th start. He’s given the team three quality starts, including his last one against the Minnesota Twins. All set to go on the first pitch of the game. Ground ball softly hit to first. PFP right out of the shoot. Patrick covers first base. One pitch and one out on a ground up. Adley Rutman is the hitter. Ground ball softly to second base. Two up and two down. Primo count for Henderson who takes off the plate, chucks the bat. He’s the Orioles first base runner. Orioles 15 and 32. Barely ahead of the White Socks for the worst record in the American League. It is shocking how much they have struggled this year after the seasons they’ve had each of the last two years. swing and a miss and Patrick strikes out Ryan Mount Castle in the inning and Bryce Dang leads off and lines the first pitch right to Ryan O’Harn. So Tomyuki Sagano gets it out on a first pitch cutter. The 35-year-old rookie Sagano making his 10th appearance, his 10th start of the year. Four and three has been by far the Orio’s best starting pitcher. You see the numbers just a shade over three. Throws a sweeper here right to the edge of the zone and Cheurio flies out meekly to Kurtstad. And there’s two away now for Christian Yelich. And the 3-1 cutter fought off to first by Yelich. A one, two, three first inning on nine pitches. Back at the dugout. Quicker than you can fill a glass of water. O’s middle. The lineup coming up next. We go to the third inning here at American Family Field. No score. Swinging a miss. Cut fast ball struck him out. That thing broke right down the middle, but still Dylan Carlson could not touch it. Rutman swings and misses. 96 at time from Patrick. Two more KS and a flawless third. No score through three. Gunner Henderson will lead off the Orioles fourth inning. Slow series for the most part. One for seven a couple of walks, but Gunner has homered in each of his last three series. Oh, how about that? Looked like Cheurio had that ball squared up and Chad Patrick’s surprised as anybody. A base hit that plops in front of the Brewers center fielder. I mean, you wonder, did he not pick it up? I felt like if he if he took two more steps, he catches this ball. Patrick’s like, “Wow, I thought that was an out.” There goes Henderson. It’s a perfect hit and run as Mount Castle sprays an 02 pits to the right side and the Orioles put runners at the corners from the fourth inning get. I love that. Henderson off and moving and well done by Mount Castle. Hit run, you’re going to get a ball to the right side. So a huge opportunity here as Ryan O’Harn bats. O’Harn jams one right center field that’s going to fall for a base hit. Mount Castle reads it well. He’ll go corner to corner and Gunner Henderson scores. Ryan O’Harn brings in the first run here in Milwaukee and the Orioles strike in the finale. And that fast ball average just went up 338 coming in and the Orioles have the lead in this one. It just feels like a mustse second run at least for the Orioles in this eightgame losing streak where they’ve struggled to convert runs in these situations. Patrick delivers. Swing and a miss. He got him with a beautifully placed fast ball on the outer half. Swing and a miss. Another strike out for Patrick. Yeah, that’s good. And first and third, nobody out after a run already in and back to back punch out. Fly ball hit to right field. Can of corn for Sal Felic. He is there and waiting. makes the catch. What great work by Chad Patrick. Jake Bowers with a single back in the second inning. One of two hits. Brewers have scored a ton of two out runs on this home stand. High fly ball to center. Mullins just a couple of short steps in makes the play and Sagano’s now stranded a runner at second. Three straight innings. One- nothing O’s. Seven foul balls in this sequence before a swing and a miss. He got him. Seventh strikeout for Chad Patrick. Patrick trying to get through this fifth inning and Rutman pokes one down the line in left. That ball lands fair. Kicks away from Jake Bowers. And Rutch is up to second with a two strike double. There you go. Four and two/3 for Chad Patrick. He leaves after allowing the double. The first extra base hit of the game. So Strznney will try and get Gunnar Henderson and a swing and a foul tip into the mid of Eric Hos and the inning is over. So the Brewers able to get out of it despite the two out double by Rutman’s as Frisney comes in and gets the strike out. Great speed at second and Durban. Yeah, Brewers have had an atbat with a man in scoring position in every inning today except the first. Good opportunity for Terraang. Derban goes swing and a slow roller up the first base side. Sugano’s got it. Throws it first. Durban coming home. The throw. It’s late. Speed kills. Tie game. Oh man, how about that? He never did slow down and really wasn’t even close at home plate. How about the slide? Check it out. This is going to be a great slide. You can see Jason Lane tell him to stay at third, but Durban has other ideas. Head first slide. Able to get in there safely. What a play by Durban. Anderson trying to get the Brewers to the plate in the bottom half. Try to keep this game tied. O’Harn is at third. Mullins with good speed is at second base. Time for Kirstan to come through with a big hit here. He is a ground ball right side. Big hop out to Terra. Fields it. Tosses to Hoskins and the Brewers get out of it in the sixth. It is a 1-1 ball game here at American Family Field. What away for Reese Hoskins who homered in last night’s game, his sixth of the season. And a fly ball into the deep left center. It is back and the Brewers have the lead. Number seven for Ree. And he comes up big again for the Brew Crew. Time in timeout. When the Brewers have needed a big hit, he’s delivered. Yeah, since the middle of April, he has been money. Home run yesterday. Give the Brewers a little insurance and a home run today to give them a lead. The heart of the oral order. This is the combination. Henderson, Mount Castle, and O’Harn, whose three singles in the fourth led to the only runs. Mirs gives up a fast ball down the middle for a base hit. Henderson got one he could jump on and jump he did. He’s been on base three times. Oh to the backside. That’s a fair ball inside the line. Ryan O’Harn down to the corner. Henderson to a big stop sign at third. O’Harn with a three hit game here in front of friends and family. He’s put the Orioles in great position in the eighth while he continues to just burn up fast balls. Turn and burn O’Harn on this one with a tying run. Henderson at third. O’Harn behind him at second. By far the Orioles best run producer. He’s delivered in these spots all year long. And a fly ball to left center. Churio gets to it. Henderson tags and scores. And Mullins delivers another RBI. This sacrifice fly ties the game in the eighth. So time for H Kurtstad here with a chance to take the lead. Kerstad has ended three innings today and left five. He’s trying to come through here and erase that all. Kirstad to left field. That ball is sizzled down in front of Bowers. His throw to the plate will be not caught. It kicks away and Kerstad takes second. The big hit Kerstan has been waiting for. He delivers it with two strikes and two outs in the eighth and the O’s are back on time. And I mean a bullet too to left field. Time to turn them clocks back to mountain time. Felix Bautista is in. Ball four in the tying run is walked into scoring position for Caleb Durban who was 0 for six with runners in scoring position. Looking for a big hit from Durban. Freelick at second. Cameed at first. Two outs bottom nine. The line driving a shallow right. It’s down. Freley coming around third. The throw home. Not in time. We’re tied 3-3. There you go. Caleb Durban able to dump one into right field. He knew South Freeland was going to have no problem scoring with his speed. Big hit for Caleb Durban. Good for him. Collins slow roller second base. Holiday throws in time and we are headed to extra innings. Now to Ryan O’Harn O’Harn who has had a big day. Double, a couple singles, an RBI. Got a first pitch fast ball sed off into left field and the Orioles retake the lead. Ryan O’Harn delivers his fourth consecutive hit, his second RBI today. A happy homecoming for O’Harn as the O’s are back on top. And Mullins rips one to right field. That’s a corner ball up against the wall. O’Harn will be held at third and Mullins gets to second powering a double down the line and the Orioles are in business here against Trevor McIll. One run in, second and third and only one out. Broken bat back to McIll. They’ve got the runner caught between home and third. Hos runs back O’Harn to make the play for the second hour. And a fly ball into center for Cheurio. He’s there. makes the catch and McIll allows just the one run. Now Jackson Turio now one for four today. Base hit to right back in the third inning. Liner to left a base hit. They’re going to send Collins. Here’s the throw home. Cut off. Turio is out at second base, but we’re tied 4-4. Scoring is Collins and we are knotted up at four in the bottom of the tenth as Jackson Churio comes through. Oh, he thought Jackson’s hit streak might have been over in the ninth. He’s got another chance to extend it to eight. More importantly, got a chance to give the Orioles the lead. Jackson up the middle. There’s a base hit left on left. Matteo’s going to go to third. Curio’s throw is dropped and Holiday takes second behind it. Boy, was that aggressive base running. The Orioles lead and they have two more in scoring position. Runners on second and third and nobody out for Rutman. Get up ball deep to left. Adley Rutman toward the wall. It’s gone. An icebreaking threerun shot. Adley Rutman goes right on left. Goes out to left and the Orioles have opened it up here in the 11th. There’s your big blow. A three-run homer by Rutman. His fifth long ball of the year. His 14th RBI. And the Orioles have busted it wide open here in the top of the 11. Adley Rutman’s first home run in a month and a day. Well, the Orioles had to wait a while to try to snap this losing streak. Had to wait a little longer tonight. Tony Manscelino looking for his first win as a big league manager. He’s one out away from getting it. 99 up and in. And the Orioles snap the losing streak. They win in Milwaukee. And Tony Manscelino has his first win as a big league manager. Thanks in large part to a big swing from Adley Rutman. [Music]

  1. Sugano was the best addition of the off season – how refreshing. Down side – bullpen could not hold a lead again; upside – that gave Adley an at bat that went deep.

Can the O's now do something not yet done; win 3 in a row? Can they win their 3rd series or even sweep the Red Sox for 4 straight wins? Sounds like a challenge against a good BoSox team.

Remember when they had that stretch of not having been swept in a series. Seems like forever ago now that they have been swept 4 times in the first 48 games.

  2. Tomo has went from our #4 to our #1. As much a credit to him as the failure of the staff. Hoping today gets us back on a decent track. .500 would be a good season at this point. Let's go O's!!
