MLB Picks and Predictions – Los Angeles Angels vs Oakland Athletics, 5/22/25 Free Best Bets & Odds

Hey, what’s up everybody? Scott Spitzer here, docsports.com and a welcome to the update for Thursday’s card, May 22nd, 2025. Got a comp play coming up in Major League Baseball afternoon action. We’ll get to that in just a second. Uh last night we ended up pushing the top play in baseball. Top play yesterday was a six unit in the first five innings on the Texas Rangers and they ended up tied with New York 1-1 after five innings. So, a push there. Uh, better than playing the full game, which they lost to New York. But, uh, we got the push and we’ll come right back with baseball on today’s card. Top play for me is actually a sevenstar in the WNBA. It’s my first sevenstar play in the WNBA so far this season. Uh, we’ve shown a profit through the first six days and these sevenstar plays in the WNBA going all the way back to midMay of 2022 have hit 60% against the spread. So, we’ll look to do it today with our first sevenstar play of the season. So, we got a sevenstar WNBA back in action with an NBA side. We didn’t have side or total last night. We do have a four-star side in tonight’s Western Conference game two clash in OKC. Uh last night we had Seakkum over 28 and a half points, assists, and rebounds. He got to 28 and that’s where it ended. Unfortunately, half point short, but a four-star play when it comes to the side in tonight’s NBA. also have an NHL prop tonight. So, we’ll look to cash that. Uh, no NHL signer total, but an NHL prop. So, star of the show again for me is the sevenstar, the WNBA. And if you want to jump on board, it’s over on my homepage at docsports.com. We’re going back to West Sacramento to that band box of a minor league park. Uh the match up between the Angels and the A’s. And right now it’s about 4:00 a.m. Eastern time on uh Thursday morning. And my line service about 20 books is uh showing a lot of 150s up to about 158 in favor of the A’s. Game goes, by the way, at 3:35 p.m. Eastern, 12:35 Pacific, if I didn’t mention that. Uh, but about a half hour into this game, they’re expecting the temp to be in the mid 80s and climbing. And I don’t know if I said this yesterday, but are you ready for Major League Baseball in this minor league band box of a park with temps on the rise? It’s going to carry the baseball off the bats like crazy. I mean, it’s going to be like the most we’ve seen since, you know, prehumidor Denver. And uh, I think it’s going to be one of those situations. Listen, the Oakland A’s are probably not going to land a wild card spot, but if they did, how could you have the playoffs in this band box of a park? I mean, this was bad planning by Major League Baseball. Having said that, back to the game. Tyler Anderson’s going for the Halos. They’re trying to pick up yet another win, trying to make it seven in a row, but man, his stuff plus and his pitching plus metrics are not good. Stuff plus basically includes like release point, velocity, vertical, horizontal movement, spin rate, and then pitching plus comes in on top of that and takes stuff plus metrics and combines it with things like command, including the location and the sequencing of the pitch. That’s basically the definition of pitching plus and stuff plus and Tyler Anderson’s. They’re not good. As far as Severino, his stuff plus, how about a 107? That’s very good. A pitching plus of 102 so far this season. He’s solid in those metrics. He’s got a solid fielding independent of pitching or FIP and a barrel rate of just 4% which is going to be important as the temps heat up in Sacramento at this ballpark. And then of course you got the A strong at the plate against South Paws. They’re seventh in weighted runs created plus uh against Southpaws at home. And the Angels who’ve been putting up some runs lately, no doubt about it over the last six games. kind of middle of the pack for the season and the situation they’re in on Thursday afternoon. I think the A’s are going to pick up the win, snap that Halo win streak. So, we’re going to back the A’s on Thursday. And again, the note on that start time, 3:35 Eastern, 12:35 Pacific time. Real quick reminder, top play for me happens to be a sevenstar in the WNBA. uh we’ll look to extend that 60% three-year run with sevenstar WNBA plays and put that top play run overall all sports up over 38,000.
