The Los Angeles Angels sending out Use Kikuchi for the start in this one while the Marlins will counter with Sandy Alcantra. And Alcantra has been unsandylike for the better part of the season. Um a 7.99 ERA. We are past the point of saying, “Oh, well maybe it’s just an inflated sample size as Alcantry in his last seven starts has a 9.28 RA. He’s lost his last six decisions. He just doesn’t have it this season. But this could be a good spot for him to turn it around. Now, don’t get me wrong, the Angels are a team that’s coming off of a, you know, a sixth straight win entering Thursday’s action where they swept the Dodgers. They took three in a row against the Athletics as well, and the offense has been clicking all of a sudden. But let’s not forget, this is still the Los Angeles Angels we’re talking about here. You know, a Los Angeles Angels team has a banged up Mike Trout. And like I said, while they have been able to to, you know, find some some runs here and there, it’s still been a problem to to back up their starting pitching for much of the season. And that’s why you Kikuchi with a 3.50 erra still has an 0 and4 record this season because a lot of times he doesn’t get the run support even if he pitches well. Take that last start against the Dodgers for example. He went five and two/3. Gave up one run on three hits. Still didn’t get the win. It ended up as a 6-4 victory for the Angels. But again, the bullpen almost let it get away on him. And the problem for Kikuchi is control. He’s also given up four walks in three of his last six starts. But the thing is for me in this game, I don’t know if I can trust the Marlins, who have historically been a tough team to back when it comes to hitting against lefties. And I think the Kikuchi could have a solid start here. On the other side though, I said this still a Angels lineup that I don’t know if I can really trust them against righties. Yeah, they’re hitting .240 in the last two weeks against right-handed pitching, but they also have a skyhigh 28.2% strikeout rate. That’s the highest in baseball by about 2.3% over second place. And while the team OPS numbers are decent, the isolated power numbers are still decent as well, Sandy Contra, I still, like I said, even though I think he doesn’t have it, I still think he is a better pitcher than these numbers would indicate. And I think that this could be a good spot for him to try to write the ship. I’ve said that before with Sandy Contra and I’ve been wrong. So, it wouldn’t surprise me if, you know, maybe, like I said, he just doesn’t have it and can’t put it together this season. But I think that this could be a good spot for him to at least look like he can try to sort of put it back together and fix the pieces that are all broken. So, give me the under between the Angels and the Marlins. I just think this is going to end up being a lowscoring battle between two teams that just, like I said, really have not been all that trustworthy this season at the plate.
