Will Scheifele/Benn animosity carry over to Game 6?
After that big Jets four nothing win at home in game five. We have to speak with our Winnipeg bureau chief John Lou. What a gutsy win by this team. John, would you go so far as to say collectively this was Winnipeg’s best game of the Stanley Cup playoff so far? Yeah, I absolutely would, Jay, because given the circumstances, the situation they were in is that they absolutely had to win tonight. And yes, they shut out the Dallas Stars 4 nothing in game two. They had an incredibly dramatic uh moments or set of moments in game seven against St. Louis that will live in hockey lore in Winnipeg forever. But this was the most complete effort from the Winnipeg Jets from front to back, top to bottom in these playoffs. And Scott Arneil mentioned that too. From the goalie through the D through the forwards, everybody contributed on the roster. And we’ll start with Connor Hella. I mean, he didn’t face a whole lot this evening because his team was so good in front of him. But less than a minute into the second period, he makes a stop point blank on Thomas Harley that kept the score at zeros, opening the door for his teammates to score, to take the lead and not look back. And then look at the defense. Look at the forwards, their back check, their structure. They went eight and a half minutes in the second half of the second period without allowing a shot on goal of the Dallas Stars. And forwards Nikolai Eers kept rolling. Mark Shley scored for the first time since game one. The power play clicked twice. The penalty killing was perfect. Jay, this was about as airtight and perfect a win by the Winnipeg Jets as you could possibly imagine in these playoffs so far. And you mentioned Mark Shley got a goal which is terrific. He also had an assist. He was fighting hard against Jaime Ben, which is a tough thing to do because Jaime Ben’s a tough customer. Now, he took the worst of it and he was pretty upset about that on the bench as we saw. Do you think some of that animosity will carry over to game six on Saturday night? Yeah. Yeah, Jay, I think that was kind of what would we consider that sort of like a um a modified or a Gordy How hat-trick light. Uh but uh you know what Pete Dbor said that uh it’s an emotional series. We’re now five games into it. The stakes are incredibly high for the Winnipeg Jets. And uh so Pete Dbor said that hatred has settled into this uh into this series. Scott Arneil, as you can imagine, was absolutely not pleased with the fact that Mark Shiffley came away with the two-minute minor for roughing after he’d have been clocked with that left jab by Jamie Ben. And so yeah, I think that you can certainly imagine that because the emotions are running still high that the organic nature of this series will continue into game six that there were more scrums, more post- whistle uh animosity uh in this in this game than there was at any other point in the se in the series so far. And so it just makes it that much more interesting. But Jay, I will make one more note about Mark Shley because we’ve been talking music every hit in this series so far and I’m going to stick with that. During pregame, the Jets in-house band, they’re called Mach 10. They were playing AC/DC’s Shoot to Thrill. Well, that happened to be Mark Schiffley’s goal song. And so, hey, who should score in the second period with the eventual D GWG and the AC/DC Classic is on the PA. So, there’s a little connection. Little foreshadowing. Don’t know if they did that intentionally, but there’s your music note for my hit for this one here, J. I love this. This is practically turning into uh much music and I’m all for it. John Lou, you’re terrific. And the Jets going to try to even this series up Saturday night in Dallas for game number six.

Long time Red Wings fan, here, so no dog in the fight, but shutting out the Stars, with this kind of 100% focused, fiery, intelligent and patient team-wide performance, really augurs well for the Jets heading into Game 6 (and then hopefully, a liitle later, Game 7).
Very good effort in this one, overall, then, by the Jets — I'd certainly like to see Winnipeg win the series at this point and then go on to compete in the Conference Final.
JOHN LU, WHAT A SOULLESS SELL OUT REPORTER.
Eliminate the team before β hatred β sets in. Says this Oiler fan, after the fact of course. If the Jets can come back, this game and altercation will be recalled. Benn not doing any favours to his team or his reputation . Go Jets! π©οΈ π¨π¦
If Austin Matthewβs had scheifele intensity the series with the panthers would be very different
Benn assaulted Scheifele?
They need to win in North Star home wins
Two minutes to Scheifele for getting sucker punched by a washed up neanderthal
If Byfuglien was still on the team, there is no way Benn does anything like that.
Benn will screw things up for Dallas like he always does
Spaghetti schief has the worst balance which he needs to work on. That punch was hard but he needs to work in that center of balance
Winnipeg should have won this game. Don't sugarcoat it, folks. The big test is Game 6. The Jets have not won a game on the road in the playoffs and it's time for Connor Hellebuyck to show that he is a big-time playoff goalie by winning Game 6.
Luke is gonna truck that fool
Jamie Benn, No goals and 1 assist, minus 2 against the Jets. Weaker players always resort to cheap shots.
This team is built for the moment! Let's take game 6 and bring it home!
Great acting by scheif
Scheifele will exact revenge by scoring 2.
Can not let Benn get into your head. We need Schief to just focus on game 6 !
He kicked benn lol what do you expect!!
I think Ben shoulda been Suspended for a Few Games.. that was a Soccer punch..
Scheifele can't do anything to Benn. He is scared.
Scheifele's father just passed away during the night,I'm sure Jaime frickin Benn is the last thing on his mind. Do it for Dad Mark.
Rest in peace BRAD. On behalf of all Jets fans, our thoughts and prayers are with the Schiefele family. ππ
How Benn is not suspended is the real question. NHL DPS is a joke.
Pretty sure this question has been answered by this point
