Winning is fun… meeting expectations is the challenge
They were they had the season last year that the Magic hat where winning was new. It was it was exciting. Like everyone was feeling good. Now comes the pressure. Now comes the okay, you did it once. Now you got to do it again. And and and not only do you got to do it again, you got to do more. You know, the the Magic went to seven games in their playoff series. I don’t know how Detroit talked and maybe this is the first place to start, but exit interviews the day after they lost to the Cavs last year. to a man. Every single player said, “Our goal next year is to get homec court advantage. We didn’t win a single road game in the playoffs. We’re we need homec court advantage to get out of the first round. We’re going to the second round.” Like that was that was the talk from day one. They set the bar for what success was. And obviously they didn’t hit it for a variety of reasons.
The Orlando Magic exited the 2024 season with big ambitions. They found meeting those ambitions is a bigger challenge:
