Broaddus’ Cowboys OTA Thoughts: Mingo, Guyton, Booker & More | GBAG Nation
All right. What if I told you that Jonathan Mingo was catching passes yesterday in the uh in your practice and how and looking good doing it? Sounds like a good candidate for 2025 Mr. Oxnard. Well, I’d say I know you definitely weren’t in practice then if that was the case. Oh, that’s that’s I mean that’s the Who told you that? I got the verb. No, I actually heard this about three of eight. I heard this. I heard this. Mingo and Paris Campbell were catching passes in this. Uh, yeah. Were they forget about Paris Campbell? I forget about them, too. Craropper, Mingo, Campbell. I had heard Craropper had had Nick Harris was uh was letting me know about Craropper. How So, was Mingo doing this with Dak or was he working with Milton? That’s good news. Yeah. So to me, yeah, I was because I was expecting, you know, the old George Pickins talk, you know, Tolbert, let’s see what’s going on with, you know, Lamb and but the the the the most productive receivers that I heard at practice were were Mingo. Well, actually Craropper, Mingo, and Campbell were the three most productive during the practice. So, well, I mean, you don’t need somebody to emerge big time, but if you could get good production and upgrade at spots three and four, that would be tremendous. Paris Campbell, he had like a 700 yardd season. What happened to this dude? Last two years, he just fell off a cliff last year. Six catches. Yeah. Wow. But yeah, but the Colts, he had 63 for 623 in 2022. It’s a big play for the Ohio State, man. Big threat there. the actually are you guys surprised that they immediately plugged in Gton at left tackle? You know, I’m not Brian and I almost mentioned this to you at the break, but Fred interrupted me. Okay, so last night I watched all of the Dak picks several times, right? I’m like, what happened in 2024 with these picks cuz you were talking about if you don’t have a left tackle, there’s problem. The picks are going to go up. Okay. And I still do believe that. Um, you know, when Tyron Smith played, Dak had some great years when he was out. Inconsistencies rained. But what I saw is in six of the picks, it was all clog and cover caused. There was very little pressure on Dak. One of them was clearly a Genon pressure, and one of them was kind of like a half pressure. And in all the other plays, I mean, he’s doing well. I I think if you could get Gayton’s athleticism involved in the run game and the penalties cleaned up, maybe a sufficient starter. Yeah. I remember, you know, going back when the old 22 would get posted and thinking to myself like, “Okay, Giden had a terrible game.” And then you watched him. I was like, “Not as bad as I thought it was.” Like, there’s definitely a lot to work with there. Not surprised cuz you just don’t have like another option 100% that you’re going to like what is it going to be awesome Richards? Is that who you’re going to start there? So, not surprised. I think he’s going to have to play himself out of the starting role. I think the starting spot is his. And I I hope for the best for that kid. I don’t think he’ll ever be strong. I don’t think he’ll ever be a powerful player. I think Dawson, I think you got him right. I think he’s going to be a guy that’s always going to be a pretty good athlete and that’s how he’s going to have to win. He’s going to have to win with length, athletic ability, staying in position, you know, give not not not, you know, getting penalties, you know, getting experience that way. I just don’t ever see him being a powerful guy. I think if we’re asking him to go get stronger and all that, he’s going to have to be one of those guys, WCH, that I always get wrong in the draft. Sure. You know the guy always the Colton Miller. Yeah. The guy I always get wrong. I always say, “Oh, this guy’s got to get stronger if he wants to.” And then that guy plays 10. But it is with his size. It is amazing just how like his upper body lean doesn’t look strong. Yeah. Not surprised at all with uh Tyler Booker. I I’m I was worried about that one going in, but immediately plugged in there at right. Yeah. Initially like when you and like uh when you and Vod were even talking about that, I’m thinking like what do you why like why is this a conversation? But it is like the last two like they weren’t given starting reps. Even Tyler Smith first OTAAS was not given number one reps. He had to eventually That drives me effing nuts when that happens. But then but I guess maybe like those were guys taken lower in the back half of the first round. You’re saying the guy 12th overall. He better be the plug-and-play guy. You don’t have to worry with Booker that he’s going to get entitled if you hand him the job. I think that’s why you could feel confident giving it to Booker. Yeah. He’s going to work hard with great enthusiasm. You also want him to emerge as a leader. Uh, which so you need to give him status. Let me ask you guys this. I think they’re going to carry three running backs. Just my thoughts looking at the roster the way it is. I think they’re going to carry the three running backs, but if they try and carry if they want to carry could Hunter Lipky’s spot be taken by a fourth tight end? Yeah, it could be. Especially if John Stevens ends up being healthy this time around. And that’s Lipkkey spot, not Mafas. Well, what I what I’m looking at is I think I got to carry three running backs and then Hunter Lipkkey is kind of my fullback and my H. I think Hunter Lipkkey spot and I don’t think Hunter Lipkkey has a sponsor here anymore. Yeah. McCarthy loved him. Yeah. And so my thought is if all of a sudden say that Williams blue and Sanders do look good and you want to keep Mafa. I think Hunter Lipkkey might be it might be out it that way but I think that Lipkkey Mafa might be in competition or Sanders one of the spot four whoever the fourth if they want to keep four tight ends. So your four tight ends would be Ferguson, Skoon Maker, and we’ll see what happens with with Farweather who they really like from Auburn. John Stevens, can he stay healthy? You know, they really liked Fant. Fant was kind of one of these guys that was kind of like the and Fant can be a fullback. They lined him up there. M I just wonder if that position as I’m looking at I think that if they want to carry extra tight end I think the position they’ll poach from is running back is where I’m at right there. I was hearing a bit about uh about with Joe Milton a little bit just a little scout report on him just a little bit indecisive at times throwing the football. Okay. Yeah. And it just was happening a little faster for him. Mhm. than maybe what he was dealing with probably in New England. When he sees it, can he throw it where he wants it to go? He could he he is he’s his arm talent is there’s no question about the arm talent. Yeah. The questions are going to be though and like I say, is he making the right decision? But I think of a lot of it has to do with maybe having to catch up here. Okay. Scheme related. I think I think this is more scheme related than anything right there. I mean, it would make sense that a guy with that build, with that arm, the limiting factor is the decision-m and you basically have to be a savant to ace the test in the NFL. There’s only a few guys in the entire world that are genetically capable of doing this. Mentioned Elim playing well, a rookie that showed up on defense here. My final thought here is Shamar James showed up and Zach, we were talking about him as maybe being a guy that’s going to be more of a blitzer and not a cover guy, but for him to get the INT, it’s great news. Yesterday, I thought that was a good sign that if if right off the jump, if he’s starting to put himself in position where he’s making plays, not, you know, because I was worried about Yeah. I was worried about him being a cover guy. But if he’s already showing that like maybe maybe he can actually do some cover things, I thought the best was to play him at will linebacker and let him run, let him run to the football. But if he’s showing the ability to play in coverage and, you know, he got an interception off Joe Milton just by positioning and where he needed to be, I think that’s a really really good start for a guy that I like I said, will linebacker, let him rush, keep him free, let him run to the football. Didn’t he play on the basketball team, too? He probably got some pretty good feet for staying in front of guys. He’s He’s a really He’s a very quick guy. You could see like But Zach’s right. He’s more of a downhill player. But I just worried about his awareness, the instincts. Yeah, that was a big problem. But if he But if he’s already just, you know, in day one showing his ability to be in the lane and maybe get an interception or two, that’s actually a good sign for a kid that he’s going to need this wide, excuse me, this linebacker room. They’re going to need somebody. They’re going to need some. So much better than it was a year ago, though. There’s no question about that. No question about that. [Music]

What if I told you that Mingo's best trait is blocking?
What wrong Amis Richards? Heโs been gone when in
Brevn looked slow and lumbering n Dak would lead hos throws . Sorry I . ๐ couldve picked off those passes to him .
Leuptke can also be a lead blocker if you go bk to 90s Iformation football like we did once or twice when kellen was here
People give Broadus way too much credit. People can't think for themselves. It's so obvious why he got fired in Dallas. Three straight 5-11 Seasons and was living off Green Bay Super Bowl Win year's before that. Overrated
Booker should talk Guyton and tell and show him how to lift weights and get stronger hell all of the offensive lineman should be in the weight room pumping so by training camp they all are stronger we need bullies on the o-line give me the pancakes and drive your guy downfield lineman
We have too many people that are decent on offense as far as Wr Rb and Te
Luepke is a better TE than all but Ferguson
Broadus hates Guyton. He does this all the time. He just trashes our guys when he doesnโt like him. Just like Diggs. Broadus acts like Guyton has no chance to be a Pro Bowler. Broadus is almost always wrong. And Iโm sure heโs wrong about Guyton.
Hunter Lupke not making the team? Lolololol
Mafa Luepke Blue Duece…
Guyton has toothpick arms…๐๐๐๐๐๐๐๐
They keep forgetting about Leuptke and his versatility. Shotty has said over and over, he likes the same look with lots of options. Hereโs a guy defenses canโt really account for since he does so much. Heโs an ultimate secret weapon. Is he going to block, catch, run? This is also why blue and Williams will be out there a lot. They catch and they run. Yโall need to think more sneaky. ๐
So if Tyler Guyton is always going to be weak, this falls directly on Will McCkay. No more free passes for mediocre Will McCkay. Call that McClay dude out. He isnโt special.
Bryan old fart Broaddus negging Joe Milton. Get serious. Milton is an elite athlete. One Dak injury and Dak never gets his job back, just like Romo.
Crown!!
Mingo WR1 incoming ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ
Really hope Mingo can step up and be a great wr3
Johnathon Mingo 3rd WR !!
Dang Guyton looks twice as big in his upper body he just looks bigger
I think Guyton is gonna show more power… than last yr he's just bigger and stronger looking
Lympkee better not go any where!
Mingo a second round pick. Im not suprised. I liked him coming out College. He's about to be he suppose to be
Iโm glad Mingo is doing good since he is the 4th round pick they gave up
Asim actually was solid at LT late season but when blocking he looked more like a guard lol
Ferguson is the guy that will have a really good year
