Nevertheless, a rumor disguised as a report is now sizzling hot and has been since Friday when ESPN did it again. rumors and speculation and your ideas and my ideas and then what I can hear and gather and what other people in the Dallas media hear and gather about Samuel Hilton Gilly all have value and my understanding is some of those ideas for the Cowboys are down the road ideas. Let’s see what we’ve got. Miami Dolphins are trying to deal their star quarterback Jaylen Ramsey. Remember him in the 2016 NFL draft. Ezekiel Elliott and Jaylen Ramsey tags touching. Remember the Cowboys valued them equally. Went with the running back. It worked out okay. Jaylen Ramsey though still going at age 30 pretty strong. So, here comes ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler on Friday reporting air quotes to the world that the Dolphins are engaged with multiple teams on a Ramsay trade. All right, that’s reasonable enough. They’ve been very open about wanting to dump him. I don’t have any doubt that the Dolphins are continuing to try to make phone calls. But then followers started naming suitors. And if you’ve watched this video of him, you can see I mean he’s Bambi on ice. You can see the trepidation that Jeremy Fowler has as he starts naming teams. You can smell it. Something in the milk ain’t clean. And then Fowler names the Cowboys in his group of three potential suitors. Quote from Fowler. The NFC East could be one to watch. Dallas Cowboys. They made three trades this off season. Could they make a fourth trade? H. Well, there there is a mountain of problems here. It starts with, and by the way, I’m fascinated by your feedback as always. We do this as a team. Get in, get on to good. Bring something of intellect to the table like I attempt to do. There’s all kinds of fun stuff going on here. One of them, and it’s really important, and it’s not like I haven’t made a typo in my day, it’s really important for your own credibility. Get your facts straight. The Cowboys haven’t made three trades for veteran players this offseason, as you know. They’ve made four. So, if you’re going to stand up on national TV and present yourself as an expert on the Cowboys, it would be it would be advisable to get that right. Pickings, Milton, Murray, Elim, that’s for ESPN. his quote his claim from ESPN quote I checked with somebody in Dallas who said look it’s possible we might not be done it’s slow right now in other words somebody told you no and you reported yes it’s slow right now oh it’s slow all right ESPN it’s so slow that your report is false. That’s how slow it is. First, a cowboy team source flatly told me, cowboyscountry.com, you can see the whole story there, flatly told me that there’s no truth to the ESPN report. And then I checked with two more people, a total of three people basic. And and then my second question was, who said this to ESPN? I can’t find anybody who thinks anybody said it. I’ve said this before and I don’t mean to be bashing the guy in the face except, you know, makes me have to work harder to take out a big mop and clean up this crap. I’ve written this before, a cautionary note. Every single time he reports something on the Cowboys, every single time it comes across as speculative with a kind of a anything could happen tone. But this one, Dallas has no plans for this to happen. Now, if you read cowboyscountry.com, you know a couple other tidbits here. One, which is fascinating. Our man Lando was the first, we broke the story at cowboyscountry.com. Jaylen Ramsey has, according to Lando’s sources, he has bought a homepropy in the Dallas area. What? Diddly dink. It’s in Fort Worth. So, it’s, you know, an hour away from here. But if Lando’s got his facts right, and I believe he does, and he’s been very careful about phrasing this, and I’ve been I’m trying to be very careful about phrasing this. Our belief is that Jaylen Ramsey has bought property in the DFW area, Fort Worth, but that’s not indicative of his plans to play for the Cowboys at all. It has nothing to do with the Cowboys. Uh he wouldn’t be the first guy, by the way, to buy property in Texas, uh Dallas area. Wouldn’t be the first NFL player who doesn’t have anything to do with the Cowboys to do that. Nice place to live here in North Texas. Also, interestingly, his agent is David M, the same agent who represents Micah, the same agent that Jerry has pretended he doesn’t know his name. I just thought we’d throw that in there. Dolphins general manager Chris Greer. He He is not hiding this. They They want you to take him. Jeff Lee, we’re not getting Jaylen Ramsey. Jeff, I think you’re catching on. Seabir Motton Ramseay is not coming here with that salary. I think you’re catching on. Ryan S. using Dallas’s name to garner interest with others or just to make a headline. And that’s the sidebar issue for me journalistically. Nobody told him this. So, you as a cowboy consumer are left assuming that what Ryan says is accurate, that Bristol just decided to create a Cowboy related story. Charles B, every rumor of every player in the NFL for some reason thrown out there involves Dallas. One of the reasons is because if you throw out Jacksonville, nobody reads that story. Hey, Jacksonville, nobody cares relative to Dallas. So, that’s certainly true and the agent gets to do that. And if you want to write a speculative story saying, “I wonder if the Cowboys or here’s why the Cowboys should or here’s why the Cowboys won’t.” I’ll do that all day. But ESPN is reporting that the Cowboys are connected to Jaylen Ramsey and they are not. He’s a little north of 30 years old. Just last year, Miami gave him a $72 million extension. Why? And then a year, I mean, listen, we we take some hard shots around here at Stephen and Jerry Jones. Mismanagement and asleep at the wheel and um football malpractice. They just gave this guy $72 million a year ago and now are saying get me out of here. He’s talented. You don’t want any part of the 72 million in Dallas. Uh it’s 24 for this year and they’ve already paid him the bonus. So now it’s left it now it’s 21 and there’s escapability. So in theory again in theory some team could rent him for $21 million and then work to escape the deal after this. And I’m not saying it’s a horrible idea. I’m just telling you it’s not the Cowboys idea. There’s nothing here. So, let’s keep focusing on a timetable for Gilly. Let’s keep looking at names. Asante, we did Asante Samuel the other day and told you he’s still hurt. Nobody’s signing him. So, put that on the back burner. Mike Hilton, that’s a slot. He does work in the slot. What are they going to do here in the slot? Well, a couple of you said, Kenny Simmons, let’s talk football. Fine, let’s talk football. You’re not going to see Diggs anytime soon. And you’re also not giving him away. That’s That story is bogus, too. Not giving him away so I can save a few million dollars. I need to see him play. And nobody No. Who’s trading for Trayvon Diggs today? They don’t know what they’re getting either. Brenda D, he’s under contract long-term. I know, but there’s escapability. I’m not I’m not endorsing it. I’m I’m just reporting on the facts. I’m not ripping it. I’m not endorsing it. I’m just telling you the facts. Don Bland is locked in. By the way, speaking of facts, there’s this story out there that suggests that if the Cowboys play him in the slot, he’ll make less money as a free agent. You want to bet the Cowboys might try to play pay him. I don’t know why they would. You put Don Bland in the slot, if you were good enough at quarterback, if you had Diggs and Elum to start at quarterback. By the way, Elum right now is a starting Cowboy quarterback. And we’ll have get another good look at him tomorrow at star. If you had a healthy digs and you had him at corner and Elim at corner and you put Bland in the slot, Bland is going to make plays. He’ll be a star in the slot. And then if the Cowboys say, “Well, you know, you were only a slot guy. We’re going to pay you left.” I’m fine and I’m a free agent and other teams won’t pay him only. There’ll be no such thing. I don’t know where that story came from, but it’s bogus as well. He can get paid. Deron Bland’s going to get paid. Right now, it’s Bland and Elum at corner and 6’4 Izzy in the slot. And then you still want to see what Carson can do. It’s not there yet. And you’d sure like to see what the rookie Siobhan Rell Jr. can do. It’s not there yet because he’s rehabbing. Steve, we are hurting at quarterback. Given the fact that two guys who might start if they were healthy are literally hurting in Diggs and Siobhan, you are hurting at quarterback. Lorenzo Bland is uh shown to be solid, not a top money player. I bet you the NFL disagrees with you. Tony Matle, yay. Who needs ESPN? We have FPN. Is that Fish Sports Programming [Laughter] Network? I do appreciate that we’ve come to an understanding around here. We’re going to give you the straight dope. No bullsh I I I I just don’t need it. Jerry said the other day it’s been four or five weeks since he’s talked to Micah and here’s why. By CBA rule, once the player, there’s nothing wrong with the player talking with the owner or the coach or the GM or a scout. Nothing wrong with nothing illegal about it. Nothing wrong with it. People that are accusing Jerry of being underhanded here don’t understand the rules. And furthermore, Jerry being underhanded to what it to what game? So he can end up paying Micah Moore because he always does. He likes to communicate straight with the player. He’s they they they’re he’s employer employee and and co-owner of this thing. Nothing wrong with that. But CBA rules once the player says, “Okay, that sounds really good, coach, general manager, owner. Now I want you to take it to my agent.” Then the team is obliged to take it to the agent.
