NJ Devils News Tomas Tatar GONE & Brad Shaw Named Assistant Coach

Tomas Tatar will not be returning for the New Jersey Devils in the 2025-2026 season. Tatar signed a contract to play in Switzerland. The NJ Devils also announced that Brad Shaw has been hired as an Assistant Coach on Sheldon Keefe’s staff.

I discuss this all and more in this video.

  1. The Panthers are the model. Matthew has single handedly changed the league. We have NO dogs. Take a close look at our Euros at the world Championships bridesmaids again.

  2. Luckily 4th line doesnt need to be pricey its the 3rd line that needs to have some dogs. We need a more stable and consistent scoring dept for line 3. Also as much as its been said a top 6 winger is a must but fitz has to move palat or hamilton to do so.

  3. I’m actually really excited for Shaw, he’s really good. He’s also apparently GREAT for developing young D men . Fitz really has his work cut out for him: reconstruct the bottom six, which honestly tbh seems worse… definitely nervous

  4. The panthers retool this year was actually insane. Somehow they’re like even better. Fitz should take trade deadline notes……

  5. Always liked Tater but was hoping we got the 22/23 version this past season, was not so. Wish him the best but would doubt any UFA's are here in Sept. LGD!!

  6. Admittedly, I’m more than a bit confused by this coaching change. I believe we were TOP THREE in the league. So, is this an upgrade? Is this just about getting Keefe’s guy? Is that a solid, intelligent reason? Just add it to the pile of f*king confusion, that the Devils have become. Maybe this guy has the *secret to what secondary scoring is…

  7. We kinda knew this was bound to happen one way or another. Good luck in Switzerland Tuna. You'll be remembered for your heart and your contribution to that beautiful '22-'23 season where we set the franchise record in points before beating the Rangers in that beautiful 7 game series.

  8. in the exit interview, Tuna said Keefe had him play a role where he was not supposed to score/take shots. You cant blame the guy when he doesnt score if thats how the coach plays him. check the interview! also keefe didnt tried the famous mercer tuna hischier line once that i saw. that is where mercer and tuna shined

  9. Too many fans learned their hockey from video games where toughness is not a factor. I agree 100% with you. Need grit, sand paper, and a sledgehammer. Skill is great, but without size you get manhandled.

  10. Not surprised to see that Tuna is gone. Unfortunately he couldn’t play anywhere near the level he did in the 22-23 season. Best of luck to Tuna in Switzerland.

  11. Well then there’s soon a bit NJ Devils Hockey here in Switzerland. BTW I saw your 3 Swiss Devils yesterday live, standing on a thawed ice rink! Nico will be fine soon and man, Siegs is sooo back and in best shape.

  12. A disappointing season indeed for Tuna, but nevertheless, I wish him well.

Not exactly sure either what to make of the Brad Shaw hiring. I’m hoping that, like you, this means that Keefe has found his guy. Maybe the lagging power play will get a boost. Maybe a guy like Luke Hughes will become a stronger, 2 way hockey player and cut down on those awful plus minus numbers. Can’t remember what he was last season but I remember he was a minus 20 in 23-24.
