The future of the Sharks is definitely bright π¦π.
YES!!!!! JD is the man. Hes really the lifeblood of us sharks fans. Drip feeding us hope.
Exciting young team
i think they can be the 08–09 chicago blackhawks.
Love seeing my boy JD Locked on Sharks with Brodie talking everything Sharks π¦ itβs a different feel this upcoming season, definitely fun & frisky π looking forward to the draft!
Just give Toffoli the C and leave the A's on Ferraro, Wennberg, and Goodrow for now. I know some people aren't crazy about what Goodrow brings to the table but there's nothing to gain by stripping letters from anyone, Wennberg and Ferraro are probably both gone at the deadline anyway so that would be a good time to move Celebrini and Eklund up into leadership roles.
Hey Brodie and JD, I feel like a junky getting my fix every time I see a new video Brodie! hahaha I prefer to think of improvement for the Sharks in terms of wins. We won 19 the year before last. We won 20 last year and I don't blame the guys on either of those teams or the coaches. I don't think Scotty Bowman in his prime could have done more with the roster the Sharks featured the last two seasons.
Rebuilding is tough and that's no error. I think Mike Grier has done an exceptional job of straightening out our affairs which were complicated to say the least when he arrived. This is not really talked about but, I have a speculative theory about how GM's treat veteran players. Treat them roughly and word will spread around the league. Treat veterans hard but, fair and that too spreads around the league. I think Grier has done the later and done as best he can to maximize veteran value for the team in trades while at the same time doing what he can to send veteran players to a good team that has a shot in the play offs. More than that is not realistic to ask of a GM.
I think Grier remembers very well what it's like to be a journeyman player in the league who is well regarded by his peers and how it is to be traded which Grier experienced. If you want free agents to seriously consider your team when you are in the middle of a rebuild every little bit helps to make the case for veteran players to choose your team over others.
There is only so much that can be done about the competitive state of the team at any given point but, everything else around the player experience organizations can absolutely get that bit right and that spreads around the league amongst the players. So if a veteran player calls say Tyler Tafoli and asks him about how the Sharks have treated him Tyler can answer truthfully that he has been well treated. I don't think that is the end all and be all in attracting veteran players but, it is something an organization can do something about and it helps.
As far as next season is concerned I think if the Sharks can win 10 more games that would be a dramatic and realistic improvement. It's not sexy and others will talk about being a bubble team or a 500 team but, I think that is a lot to expect out of a team that just barely won 20 games last season and is still very young and rebuilding.
In the pipe dream world I would say win 15 more games which without knowing the shape of the roster for next season yet and the state of the injured players (Shakir, Askarov, etc) it is hard to be more optimistic realistically. If Grier pulls off a miracle this off season and completely transforms the roster by adding more dynamic players to lead the way then perhaps pushing the ceiling a little might be in order but, given that so many of the players we are counting on right now are likely not ready for the NHL yet I think the 2027 season is where we ought to think about 500 hockey or possibly even a bubble team depending on the roster and how things are.
All my best Brodie to you and your family man.
Cheers,
