LIVE: Thunder vs Timberwolves Game 5 | 2025 NBA Western Conference Finals 🔥 May 28 2025 | 2K25
Formidable squads going at it here. You know, BA looking to prove who is the one to beat in their conference. You love this elite level of competition. This is a chance to show who is the best in the West. So, the opening lineup for the Timberwolves. Connley and Anne are the one of the two. Jaden McDaniels out there with Julius Randall. And it’s Go Bear in at the five. Well, that’s SGAA in a nutshell right there. Quickness, length, guile, finishing on the interior. Pass to Randall. They double Randall. Five to shoot. Go passes to Edwards. No good on the three. And so it’s Williams with it. He brings it up for Oklahoma City. I got here from deep three-point land. Anthony Edwards with a rebound. All right, let’s check in with Ally Leforce. A bit ago, Mark Dagnalt and I were able to chat. He was emphatic, saying that Edwards was their main concern, telling me Anthony poses problems on both sides of the ball and he is relentless. He doesn’t let up. He wants his guys to match Edward’s energy. Great work, Ally. Thanks. Well, the effectiveness of Julius Randall wherever he is on the floor, the mid-range, one of those tools in the toolbox. Pass to Homegrren. McDaniels against Dort. Williams with it. Here’s Caruso. It’s blocked by Goar. Wow. Insanely tough to get a shot off when Rudy Gobear is around. Wow. Here’s Williams. It’s rebounded by Rudy Goar. Well, you got to miss sometimes, but that one seemed like a gimme. The kick out to Connley. A chance there to take the lead, but a miss for Oklahoma City. They’ve called one of four to begin this one. Pass to Gilas Alexander to the inside. Oh, go Bear with a steal. Connley on the attack. Well, the speed and the creativity of Mike Connley off the dribble drive. Nicely done. Minnesota shooting their first free throws. First trip to the line in this one. And that one drops. So now they lead by one. Well, the Thunder will be building a new arena, Doris, right across the street from their current home. Well, how exciting that the Downtown Arena is set to open in the 2930 season with a 25-year lease. This secures the team’s long-term future in Oklahoma City. And honestly, BA, this fan base is so passionate. They deserve it. And Connley drops them both. And it really feels like the chemistry of this Timberwolves team has taken a step forward. NBA, you know, this winning always enhances that energy and chemistry. But beyond that, this is a roster full of players that have had individual success and now they’re hungry and thirsty for team success because that’s the true measure. And we’ve got a timeout called by Mark Dagnel. He wants to give him a breather and talk things over. Heat up here. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. First quarter of basketball, just over two and a half minutes played so far. Williams against Randall. The open shot by Gilas Alexander and the baseline jumper goes down. Well, that’s a quick strike from Shay Gildas Alexander. And catch and shoot situations, those scoring instincts are right on point. Caruso against Edwards. Go with a screen on Caruso. It’s tipped. Here’s Williams. That one’s good. And so Gilgus Alexander with the assist. And he is stronger than he looks. Trust me. I mean, Williams has the bulk to win those tough battles inside. Outside. McDaniels knocks down the long J. And that’s what they want to do. Get him open looks early. Caruso outside. Oh, got a piece of it. McDaniels against Caruso. Edwards. A pass to McDaniels. Shot clock at six. Here’s Edwards. Count it. And that shot gets him in the books. He’s one for three. Man, that strength and concentration from Anthony Edwards. Yes, there’s contact. Doesn’t bother him. Gilas Alexander. A screen on Edwards. Pass to Gilas Alexander. Fadeaway. And it’s Oklahoma City scoring again. Boy, nice shot. He didn’t need the fadeaway to create separation though. He was wide open. Gilgis Alexander against Connley. Right at the free throw line. Here’s Gobear. The Thunder pull it in. Williams on the wing. He’s guarded by Connley. pass to Homegrren and here’s Gilas Alexander and so he draws the foul headed to the line to shoot a pair. They’ll pin that one on Julius Randall and Doris. No doubt about it. Shay Gilis Alexander is an absolute monster on offense. Very quietly, one of the most dangerous offensive players in the game is Shay Gildas Alexander. He’s got size. He’s got speed. He’s got handle. He can score from three levels. This guy is a legit force. First one falls for him. What you love about Shay Gilchris Alexander is this young man’s work ethic. He is a gym rat who’s always looking for ways to improve. Let’s get it. And that one goes in. Two from the line that time. This past off season, OKC decided to move on from their former first round pick, Josh Giddy. Yeah, the sixth overall pick in 2021. Giddy is a talented player with good upside, but fit is so important in the NBA. And the Thunder knew his talents would be better suited elsewhere. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Minnesota has gone one for three from beyond the arc. Outside McDaniels pass to Randall. Go Bear with a green on Williams. Here’s Randall. Homegrren with the block. You can’t forget about Homegrren’s reach, especially when he’s nearby on defense. Three-pointer. Randle pulls down the board. He couldn’t believe how open he was. He just couldn’t convert it. Right side Edwards. Back to Randall. McDaniels against Dort. The rebound by Shay Gil just Alexander. Thunder with a lead. Dort outside. McDaniels with some nice D. Got to credit the defense. They found a way to stop him and that’s never an easy task. Here’s Edwards. And count that. Two points and a chance for one more at the line. How about the body control from Anthony Edwards? Just so good at using that frame to get through the teeth of the defense. Free throw. Good. Edwards. Doris. One of the most physical guards in the NBA. Anthony Edwards. If you want to talk about a prototypical NBA body, it’s Anthony Edwards. He’s got size, strength, athleticism, but beyond that, he’s so skilled. Three-level scorer, versatile on the defensive end. Fearless when it matters. Anthony Edwards may be the next face of the lead. And Minnesota with possession here after the basket by Oklahoma City. And Doris, you watch Anthony Edwards year to year. He just keeps reaching a new level. He wants great news badly. He’s putting in the time to get there. Anthony Edwards, the shooting, the confidence, the leadership, everything’s growing. He’s now producing like an MVP. Look out, everybody. Here he comes. And he makes a first. Well, we know Edwards has an impressive skill set, but what really separates him is the competitive edge that he plays with. So, for Oklahoma City, Joe comes in for Caruso and it’s Wallace in for Gilg Alexander. And both free throws good for Edwards. You want to contest this guy’s shot, but you absolutely don’t want to send him to the line. He will make you pay. Here’s Williams and he got the whistle on the way up. So, he’ll be headed to the line for a pair. Hey, if you can’t block it, sending him to the line can be the next best thing. Oklahoma City shooting their third and fourth free throw attempts of the game. Then he drops a first. and Williams drops them both. And so Connley will bring it up for the T- Wolves. A chance here to catch up with Ally from the sideline. Ted Homegrim makes up for his light frame with aggression. He said, quote, “You don’t have to take a second look at me now to know that I’m not the biggest dude widthwise, so I have to hit first. Otherwise, the game’s not going to go in my favor when things get physical.” Unquote. Brian, you agree? I do, and you can tell he just refuses to back down. Ally, now here’s Williams. He has six and Williams punches it home. and a solid pick to free him up for the dunk. Boy, the timing there couldn’t be any better. The execution was simply flawless. That, ladies and gentlemen, is how you run that play. And Chris Finch has called timeout. He wants a few moments to regroup with his players. Minnesota’s gone two for four from range to start things off. outside Edwards and the shot is good. Dropping in off the front of the rim. Edwards has got 12 points. I think his teammates understand that Anthony Edwards has every aspect of his offensive game working. So, let’s make sure he’s got the basketball. Now, here’s Randall. And he’s going for the oop here. Oh, and go Bear powers it home. Well, just great recognition from the athletic big man. Go bear finish off the nice pass. Back to Wallace. Williams. A screen on Conlin. Here’s Wallace. No good with the triple. He is too good a shooter, guys, to be left open like that. The defense just dodged a bullet there. Randle can’t hit. Thunder trail by five. Dort for three. Connects from downtown. Right into the rising fire off the dribble. You dork. That is nice. Randall outside. Now here’s Connley. Defense is right there. Dor against Connley. to the paint. Here’s Williams deflected. A how about Randall with the sended back block. Nicely done, Julius. Dor against. It’s McDaniels. Now here’s Randall. The D’s right on him. So, it’ll be two free throws. He was fouled in the act of shooting. Lou Dort picks one up. You know, part of what makes Julius Randall so effective is that spin move, Doris. He does like to use that on the interior against taller players to get enough separation, but the number of finishing moves that guy has off the spin, it is really an effective tool. The free throw drops for Randall Hardenstein. He’s checked in for Oklahoma City. Wiggins comes in for Dor. Alexander Walker, he’s checked in for Minnesota. Devinczo comes in for Connley. and Randall drops them both. Thunder trail by four. Wiggins outside inside. Soft touch off the glass. Good execution. They’re getting some short range looks here. Randall outside. Back to Devincenzo. Pass to Alexander Walker. And here’s Edwards. Covered by Joe. Five on the clock and he converts the layup. Edwards has got 14. Well, Anthony Edwards with that frame on the interior. Such a tough check. Williams with it. Randle’s in his pocket. Nails it from three. Love to see that kind of activity. He just makes things happen. Now here’s Alexander Walker. Pounded by Wiggins. Pass to Randall. Go Bear with a screen on Williams to the middle. Oh, and Gobear powers it home. How quickly does Rudy Goar move off the screen? His mobility makes him a tough cover in the pick and roll. Williams passes to Hartinstein. Williams against Randall up top. Wiggins outside Williams. It’s blocked by Goar. left side Edwards. The shots good. 16 points for him. Well, you can see Anthony Edwards trying to probe and create an opportunity to get off the dribble drive. Sees that window and exploits it. Williams, the shot from the low post is good. Good job attacking. Those restricted area shots are what every NBA team is looking for. Here’s Edwards. Oh, and makes it with the kiss. And the Timberwolves lead by five. And once more this half they find a way to get great position inside. Here’s Wallace. He shoots over Devincenzo. Anthony Edwards has been on display for Minnesota. An insane quarter. No one could stop him. And don’t go far. We’ll be right back. If you’re just joining us, we played through one quarter in this one. All right, let’s quickly break down the game. What we’ve seen so far from the Timberwolves, guys. It’s simple. When you can protect the rim the way they have, it’s a big advantage. Total intimidation that first period. That is what has helped power them to this early lead. The Timberwolves lead by five. Setting the floor for the Timberwolves. Nquille Alexander Walker out there with Anthony Edwards. Then there’s Nas Reed. Then it’s Joe Engles. And it’s Steven Chenzo in at the small forward position. Now here’s Wallace. No point so far. Pass to Hardenstein. Down low. Here’s Gilas Alexander. The shot no good. Minnesota shooting 52% from the floor so far. Alexander Walker. The pass to Edwards three. And they double up Edwards. Back to Engles. Fires for three. Can’t get it to go. Missed his first one. Yeah. And the defense has really got to tighten up on him. I mean, he’s just too dangerous from the three-point line. Here’s Alexander Walker. The Thunder with the rebound. Gilas Alexander looking it over. Hey yo yo, right here. Right here. Hardenstein passes to Joe. Now Gilis Alexander to the inside. Stolen by Reed. And here we go. Oh, the Timberwolves on the run. Gilous Alexander with a steal. Moving it up. Here’s Hardenstein and Hartinstein slams it in. Got to give him credit for jumping on the ball and making the most at the other end. Boy, inexcusable at this point of the game. They got to be more composed in these moments. Boy, in a tight game like this, that can change the whole tone. It helps your opponent get into a little bit of a rhythm. Now here’s Gilas Alexander. Give him eight. Grant, there’s a huge difference between talent on paper versus winning. You’re right, BA. And it comes down to coaching, chemistry, and sacrifice. But I think the biggest thing is effort. All things being equal. The team that plays the hardest is going to win with the fadeaway. Ooh, and once again off the mark by Minnesota to the paint. Here’s Hardenstein. Outside for Gilas Alexander. Second shot opportunity and off the left side of the rim. It swirls in for him. Gil Alexander’s gotten four this quarter. And Chris Finch calls timeout here. He’s going to gather the troops and talk it over. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Jones. He’s checked in for Wallace. McDaniels has checked in for the Timberwolves. Mike Connley comes in for Alexander Walker. And so it’s Connley who brings up the ball for the T-Wolves. No points yet here in the second quarter for him. Here’s Edwards getting it done inside. Edwards. Anthony Edwards just reading what the defense giving up. Gets to his mid-range game right there. Pass to Gilas Alexander. That’s basket number six in eight tries. Neither side willing to relent. That’s led to eight lead changes and a bunch of drama already. And here’s Edwards. Give him 20. Oklahoma City grabs a miss. Hardenstein’s got six rebounds in the game. with a nine-footer. A tad short, but it’s good off the front iron. Joe’s got five. He gets inside right when he sees the opening. Got to attack when you have that chance. Hardstein against Reed. Here’s Edwards. Oh, he pipes it. Nine for 14 and showing no let up. want to score in the NBA. Picks can really force the D to make tough choices and Nas Reed has proven to be a matchup nightmare for opposing big men. Doris has ba and the reason is he’s bigger and stronger than most four men. Traditional fives are too slow to stay with him. He can space you out to the three-point line or he can punish you on the inside. Nas has got big time gain. And a moment now to quickly take a look at the offensive approach for the Thunder. They’ve done a great job establishing an inside presence. Now, that’ll open up more options offensively throughout the remainder of the game. I think the other thing they’re doing is they’re wearing out the opponent in transition, exploding up the floor for easy chances. The first free throw is good. So, for Oklahoma City, Homegrren, he’s checked in for Jones. And it’s Caruso in for Wiggins. Gobear’s checked in for Minnesota. both good from the line that time. Timberwolves trail by three. Connelly passes to Edwards. Here’s Goar. Strong finish by Goar. All too easy for Mr. Go bear in the painted area. Nicely done from 6 feet away and down it goes. Two points. Homegr’s gotten his first points in this one. Great chemistry between two teammates. Love the passing. Pass to Edwards from 17. The bank shot no good. I’m sure he’s kicking himself. He hates to blow that kind of opportunity. Homegrid against Reed inside. Here’s Gil’s Alexander. I love when Shay does not just settle for a layup, finish with authority. What a pretty dunk. Timberwolves trail by five. Outside Reed, launches a three. Buries it from three. Reed’s gotten himself on the board with a three there. I’ll tell you, you are playing with fire anytime you leave this guy open and they just got burned. Gilas Alexander. A screen on Edwards. Joe pass to Gil Alexander up and over Connley and Gil just Alexander missing. Here’s Edwards. Oh, and he got fouled on his way up. He’ll head to the line to shoot two. Guys, you have to put a body on Anthony Edwards. This guy is too skilled and too strong. And this is his third trip to the line tonight. miss. And he can’t get the first one. A different look for Oklahoma City. Williams comes in for Hardenstein. And it’s Dort in for Joe. And he’s good on the second. And so it’s Gilas Alexander with it. He brings it up for the Oklahoma City Thunder. Dorne outside. Back to Caruso. Outside Gilg Alexander. Gilas Alexander. Double team. Four on the clock. The shot by Dord. No good. Minnesota has gotten three of their seven threes to find the net in this matchup. Edwards finds McDaniels. Pass to Connley. Jacks up a three. Caruso grabs the board. The Thunder have gotten seven of 12 shots to go here in the second outside for Gilis Alexander. SGA doing his thing in close. I tell you, he’s making everything he looks at tonight. He should be their number one option on every possession. Connley passes pot to go. There aren’t many more dominant defenders in the NBA than Goar. Well, that’s definitely fair to say, BA, because his defense has an outsized influence on a game. The inside presence changes an opponent’s game plan. The first one falls. What you love about Rudy Goar is he understands his strengths and where he can impact the game. That is primarily on the defensive end, but also as a screen setter offensively. Oklahoma City making a switch here. Hartinstein’s checked in. And the Timberwolves also making a change. Randall, he’s checked in for Reed. That one’s no good. Well, Doris Chad Homegrren was one of the more highly touted guys coming into the league in a long time. He was BA and he has lived up to the billing at that size to be able to shoot the ball, put it on the deck, be a force at the rim defensively, but maybe his best attribute, he is a tough competitor. Here’s Caruso. It’s rebounded by Anthony Edwards. Minnesota’s gone one of four from three-point land here in the second. Dort the pass to Williams. Hartinstein with a screen on McDaniels. Pass to Caruso. There’s the three. That’s good. His first made shot in three attempts. He is such a smart player. Jaylen Williams making people around him better. Randall outside now. Here’s Edwards outside. McDaniels and they come right back with their own three-pointer. McDaniels got six. That’s how you up the ante. Come right back at him. And you would expect nothing less from these two. taking pride and making plays. Now here’s Dort Williams with it. Now guarded by McDaniels. the shot. Here’s Randall and denied. He sends it right off the glass. Here’s Williams. It’s rebounded by Anthony Edwards. Edwards got seven rebounds in the game. Now McDaniels. Dort defending. Randall with it. The jump hook. No luck on that one. Great D that time from Homegrren. McDaniels against Williams. Homegrren with a screen on McDaniels. The Thunder with another miss. Yeah, and the defense really respects his shooting ability and they showed it with that tight coverage. Yeah, Julius Randle has a good feel on the offensive end. On time and on target with the pass. Now here’s Caruso. Tipped. Randall with it. Caruso covers. Pass to Connley. The three. Caruso grabs the board. I think he’s gone completely dry. Nothing is hitting. And this is where you hope that he can find something easy so he can see the ball go through the net. Oh, what ferocity on the throw down. I just love when he goes up with purpose. Where was the D right there? The effort lacking big time. Yeah, and give him credit for taking advantage in a close game. Those are the types of plays that can swing things in your direction. And it’s out of bounds. Last touch by Goar. A minute and a half left in the first half of this game. Caruso the pass to Homegrren. Dor against Edwards. Homegrren with a screen on Edwards. Down to five on the shot clock. Gord for three. Minnesota with a rebound. And he almost made them regret defending him so loosely. Knocked away and stolen by Homegrren. Caruso outside. Dort a screen on Connley. Pass to Homegrren. Here’s Dort. And here’s Caruso outside and Connley grabs the miss. 9 seconds separating the shot clock and game clock outside. Edwards. Randall outside. Shoots over Hardenstein. He hits the back iron and sinks it. Randle’s got six. Caruso outside over Connley. It’s a tie game in Oklahoma City and we’ll be right back after halftime for the start of the third quarter. See you in just a bit. And in that first half, we saw a pretty tight battle. We’ll soon find out what sort of adjustments were discussed during halftime. And you know, Anthony Edwards has been really making it happen, guys. Yeah, they’ve done an amazing job of creating room to operate for him and then, of course, executing. One of the things every player is after is efficiency at the offensive end. And boy, this young guy has done just that and we’re halfway through this one. Plenty of basketball left in a game that’s been a fairly even one. Shay and Caruso are the backcourt pair. In it forward, it’s Dordan Williams. And it’s Homegrren in at the five roaming the paint. That’s the lineup for Oklahoma City. Now here’s Goar Randall on the screen. Here’s McDaniels. Go. Oh, a nasty put back. What timing from Goar. We always know this has been a strength of Rudy Goar getting the offensive window. Nicely done. And that one’s good. Gilis Alexander. Gilis Alexander’s got 20. Yeah, he’s looking to get on a roll here to start the second half. And I’ve got to believe that was something they talked about during the break. Get him some good looks into the paint. Get into the heart of the defense. Beautiful. Count it. 25 points in the game. Doesn’t matter where on the floor Anthony Edwards is. That shot mechanic so pretty, so fluid. Homegrren finds Williams. Pass to Gildas Alexander. Up and over Connley. Gilous Alexander. No good. And so Randall will bring it up for the Minnesota Timberwolves. Two-point game. The kick out to Edwards. Anthony Edwards reigns one in. Well, the work that Anthony Edwards is putting in as a shooter is there. That range shot so important. Nice three-point look right there. Back to Gilgis Alexander. Well timed pass and he goes straight to the bucket for the layup. The defense couldn’t collapse quickly enough. Pass to Edwards. Go against Homegrren. It’s Edwards on the wing and he’s got 28 now. Pulls up and it’s Shay Gildis Alexander with the rebound. Gilis Alexander’s got four rebounds in the game. Oh, McDaniels with a steal. Randall with it now. Gilchas Alexander defending. Edwards no good. Thunder trail by three. Dorne outside. Caruso against Connley to the middle. Deflects the pass. Goal! Rejected by McDaniels, inside 16 ft out. Oh, and that one had the right spin on it. It’s good. Gilas Alexander’s got 24 points. Well, you just get to your spot and rise and fire. The confident pull up for Mr. Shay Gilas Alexander. And Chris Finch calls timeout here. A moment to rest and confer on the game plan. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat. Heat up here. Oklahoma City on D. Third quarter action and just under three and a half minutes have passed. Go with a screen on Caruso. Six to shoot. And here’s Edwards outside. Minnesota again missing for Oklahoma City. They’ve gone three of five from the field in this third quarter. Here’s Dort. Pass to Homegrren and he wills that one in. Sinking it right through the back of the iron and the Thunder lead by one. Minnesota has gone one of two shooting from the perimeter since halftime. And Dora is such an important guy on the defensive end. Lou Dorton, he is strong. He plays hard. He’s willing to mix it up physically. He’s a tremendous athlete. This guy is tough to score on. So in the drought, Edwards can’t hit. He’s got a great defensive mind. He gets good position and affects the release. And he did it without fouling. And that’s become an art. Changing shots without making contact. Gord finds Williams. The three-pointer off the mark. And the defense got away with one there. I mean, that’s a shot he typically makes. McDaniels passes to Connley. Six on the shot clock. Gomear with a screen on Gilis Alexander from deep. Connley sinks the tray. Connley’s got five points. You have got to be aware of where Mike Connley is. He’s so capable outside the ark. Connley against Gilis Alexander. Oh, the determination from Gilis Alexander. Well, let’s remember that at 6’6, Shay Gildas Alexander can more than handle himself near the cup. Connley against Gilis Alexander. Now here’s Gobear. He’s got nine. Edwards, no good. But I love the determination, guys. It’s simply not there for him right now. And here’s Caruso outside. Minnesota has gotten two of four threes to fall here in this third quarter. And Gil just Alexander missing. Minnesota has got six out of 15 threes so far in this game. Randle on the screen. He shoots. Minnesota again missing. And Gilis Alexander’s got the ball here for Oklahoma City. Caruso with the bucket. Well, pretty pass from Shay Gilis Alexander. This guy can score it, but make sure you’re lifting up the guys around you. Outside McDaniels. Williams against Randall. Gome with a screen on Williams for three. Randall. The Thunder have gotten six of 11 attempts to fall so far in the third. Pass to Williams from deep homeress. Oh, the long ball from Homegrren. Yeah, it’s just too easy for Homegr. Man, is he fun to watch operate off the catch. Timberwolves trail by five outside. Connley Gobear with a screen on Gilas Alexander. They grabbed their own miss. Goar working inside. Well, Gobear’s comfort zone, right? High percentage shots. Easy money for Rudy Caruso against Edwards. Pass to Homegrren. And here’s Gilis Alexander. Gil Alexander takes the contact. The Timberwolves shooting just about 33% since this second half started. outside. Edwards shoots over Caruso. Hits the rim on the way in and the bucket is good. Edwards has got seven points here in the quarter. My goodness. Anthony Edwards offensively, he just makes it look easy sometimes. Dor outside. Pass to Caruso. Shot clock at five. Unloads. Oh, the Thunder tack on two more. Since the break, it feels like an entirely new game. What energy we’re seeing. Something has lit a fire under both of these teams. Now, here’s Randall. He has six. You can see the defenders try to play with a level of physicality against Mike Connley, but this guy is such a tough competitor. He’ll get to the line. And let’s take a moment here to get your take, guys, on the scoring so far for the Thunder. Well, the coaching staff has to love what they’re seeing on offense. There’s so many assists because how this team is moving the ball. I also like how they’ve played in the painted area. They’ve made an effort to work on the inside and convert those chances. And the first one at the line is good. Hardenstein, he’s checked in for Oklahoma City. Joe comes in for Dor. Reeds checked in for the Timberwolves. Devinczo comes in for Edwards. And Connley drops them both. Now Caruso. He’s got five. Williams on the wing. Pass to Hardenstein to the inside. Here’s Caruso. Lays it up and banks it in. Caruso has got seven points in the game. Well, defensively to me, you’ve got to do a better job communicating once the screen comes. Denzo finds Randall. McDaniels with it. He’s guarded by Caruso. And there’s McDaniels. That one’s good on the assist by Randall. 11 points in the game. You simply must play better defense than that. This guy is too good from distance. Hardenstein passes to Joe to the paint. Now Hardenstein and the basket is good and the Thunder lead by four. Minnesota’s gone three of seven from deep so far in the third quarter. Pass to Devincenzo. Puts up a three. No good on the shot. Boy, a wide open shot from his favorite spot. That is one he’d like to have back. Randall against Williams down low. Here’s Gilg’s Alexander. SGA explodes to the rim. Excellent way to pad the lead. Yeah, especially when it’s your one throwing it down like that. That’s got to be a little bit deflating to the defense, guys. Getting kicked when you’re down. My goodness. Here’s Randall and the foul is called. He missed it. So, he’s got a couple of free throws coming his way. It’s going to be on Jaylen Williams. Well, Randall worked so hard down low. Earns him these fouls in the process on the night. He’s two for two at the stripe. and he knocks down the first one. Wiggins, he’s checked in for Oklahoma City. Alexander Walker, he’s checked in for the Timberwolves. Anthony Edwards comes in for Mike Connley. and Randall drops them both. Oklahoma City leading by four. Williams passes to Hardenstein. Back to Williams and Williams punches it home. Nice one-handed jam. Simple ineffective. PA. Hey, with the lead, I’m surprised he didn’t come up with something a little more creative. Now, here’s Edwards. 30 points in the game. Randall against Williams. Well, Julius Randle is never going to back away from a defensive player. He knows he’s got the strength to play through contact. Nice job drawing the foul. He’s had four chances at the line. He’s made them all. A free throw drops for Randall. Oklahoma City making a switch here. Wallace has checked in. That’s and he makes the first but misses the second. Thunder leading by five. Wiggins outside. Pass to Williams. Hardenstein a screen. Lets a three fly. Williams. That’s good. Williams has got five points now in the quarter. And the vision is far past his years. Williams with great decision making. Here’s Randall. He’s got nine. Williams grabs the board. Shot clock and game clock separated by less than six seconds. Wallace outside. Hardenstein a screen. Takes the three and they get it back. Williams passes to Wallace. Hardenstein a screen from deep. Wallace’s shot is good. Wallace has gotten himself going here. His first points of the game on the deep ball. Got to fight harder to get over those screens. You know, we see this all the time. You’re basically as a defender hoping the man misses rather than putting in the work to get over screens. And as we end the third quarter, a double-digit deficit will make it tough to come back. Oklahoma City ahead, up by 11. Don’t go anywhere. The final quarter is coming up next on 2K Sports. All right, let’s take a look at our assist of the game presented by State Farm. Talk about painting a magnificent picture with that, Don. Just a great decision and a perfect delivery. We call that putting it right in the pocket and he knew what to do with it once it was there. Well, there may not be a lot of drama down the stretch as we head into the fourth quarter, but stranger things have happened. And a look now at the five for the Timberwolves to start the fourth quarter. We’ve got Nquille Alexander Walker, Joe Engles is out there with Dante Devincenzo. Then there’s Anthony Edwards and it’s Reed in at center and Gilg Alexander missing. Timberwolves trail by 11. And here’s Alexander Walker. Pass to Reed. Man, he made sure to get his money’s worth on that foul. First free throw is good. And so Reed nails them both. Oklahoma City leading by nine. Gil just Alexander with a ball. Dvenenzo with a steal. Pass to Edwards. And we played through about a minute here in the fourth. First two points. I’ll tell you, you have to have some measure of composure close to the bucket. Mr. Engles doing work. Wiggins left side pass to Hardenstein. Hardenstein with a screen on Engles. Back to Hardenstein. Stolen by Reed. Pushing it up now. Oh, Edwards packs it home. Oh, guys, the agility, the hops, everything about Anthony Edwards so good athletically. Wiggins outside. Wallace outside inside. Hardenstein and Hardenstein slams it in. Oh, not the defensive effort they need to cut into the lead. Well, good call. You have to at least try to protect the rim. They’re just too slow to react. You can’t afford to sleepwalk through possessions. What’s going on out there? Here’s Engles. Following the bucket by Oklahoma City. Clock at six. Spread against Hartstein. Reed can’t hit. Probably not the shot they had in mind, but you can’t fault him. He had a clean look. Gilg Alexander. A screen on Edwards. Wallace. The pass to Gilgus Alexander and he’s going to the line for two. The officials saw contact while he was going up. Nikquille Alexander Walker picks one up. Let’s remember Sha Alexander is 6’6 so getting on the interior is not a problem. And that one misses Caruso. He’s checked in for Wallace. And the Timberwolves also making a change. Go Bear’s checked in for Engles. Got to get it. Big. Let’s get it. Get it. Get it. He hits the second from the line. A little over two and a half minutes have passed here in the fourth. Now here’s Edwards covered by Joe outside. Alexander Walker parked it down low that time. Got hit with the 3second call. He pushed a little too hard there trying to close the gap. And yes, he paid the price. That’s a big miscue. And you hate to see that happen at this point in the game. Now here’s Caruso from 13. Rebound Minnesota. Edwards got his eighth rebound here tonight. and he was fouled while in the act of shooting. So, he’ll take two free throws. Let’s remember Anthony Edwards is 6’5 with a 69 wingspan. Those long arms very difficult to deal with defensively. Draws the contact there. Free throw good. Edwards. He’s off on the second. Thunder leading by seven. A bit under three and a half minutes have passed here in the fourth. Pass to Joe. Here’s Hardenstein defended by Goar. Now here’s Gilas Alexander. Hartinstein with a screen on Devincenzo. Here’s Gilis Alexander from the high post. He drills it. Gilas Alexander’s got 17 now just in the second half. Denzo against Gilg Alexander outside Devenenzo Reed to screen on Gilis Alexander. Nice shot by Debenzo. Such an effective shooter. If you lose track of him defensively, he’s going to make you pay. Pass to Hardenstein. Here’s Caruso. Gilgis Alexander on the wing and a foul called on the way up. So he’ll take two from the free throw line. It’s on Dante Danchenzo. Well, there’s a level of aggressiveness that you must contend with with Ilis Alexander on the offensive end. You love to see him force the issue. And the first one at the line is good. And Minnesota with some changes. Randall, he’s checked in for Reed. McDaniels comes in for Alexander Walker. And Connley subbed in for Devenzo. Big. Both free throws good from Gilis Alexander. Timberwolves trail by eight. Outside McDaniels to the inside. Here’s Randall. The shot off that time. Excellent D there from Wiggins. Outside Joe to the paint. Here’s Gil’s Alexander. Bartinstein a screen. Here’s Caruso. Oklahoma City’s got to hurry. They got to get up a shot. Basket’s good. And the Thunder lead by 10 and just totally relentless. Only increasing the intensity level. One thing I enjoy is watching players who don’t pay attention to the score. You lock in on the moment and play the right way. Now, here’s Edwards. Here’s Randall. She got a piece of it. Go passes to McDaniels. Money on the 19-footer. And here’s Gilis Alexander. He’ll bring it up for OKC. They’ve led by as many as 11. Pass to Joe. Now Gilas Alexander. He’s guarded by Connley. the fadeaway and he can’t bank that one in. Timberwolves trail by eight. Oh, the teardrop falls in. Well, this guy could have powered on the interior, but goes to the floater game. This is one of his specialties. Pass to Wiggins. Wiggins with a screen on Edwards. Connley against Gildas Alexander and he gets it to go. Well, Shay Gildris Alexander shows you he’s not afraid to draw contact now. Gets to the free throw line. So for Oklahoma City, Chad Holgren, he’s checked in for Hartinstein. Williams comes in for Wiggins and it’s Lou Dort in for Joe. on the miss. That free throw good from Gilg Alexander. Timberwolves trail by nine. Pass to go now. Edwards rejected by Homegrren to the middle. Ooh, McDaniels with a steal. Connley against Caruso. Connley passes to McDaniels. Go bear rejected by Homegrren. Williams finds Homegrren and some very quick points for him on that possession. And the Thunder lead by 11. I love the efficiency he’s playing with tonight. Not scoring as much as usual, but he’s been effective and they’re winning. Gobear with a screen on Gilis Alexander and Go Bear with the stuff. Sometimes a player is born with a passer’s mindset. He deals it with conviction. Outside Williams. Dort. The pass to Williams. Six on the shot clock. Here’s Gilas Alexander and it’s Goar with a rebound. Go’s got rebound number 11. And that’s out of bounds. Minnesota will retain possession. And you got to be in awe of incredible defensive efforts like this. Yeah, obviously he had the shot well anticipated, able to shut it down with authority. Up top, Randle. Williams defending again with the block. A defensive stalward so far. That’s six blocks. Protecting the rim well. Love the hustle. And that’s how you defend. Glad we had a chance to see a replay of that block again. You know, you can’t ask for any better defense than that. He responded so fast to the shooter and it stifled him. coming. Shot clock at six. Caruso against Edwards. Shoots over Caruso. The offensive rebound. McDaniels can’t hit. Thunder leading by nine outside. Gilis Alexander. Pass to Homegrren. The rebound by the Timberwolves. Edwards looking it over. Solid shot from a distance of about 14 ft. Edwards has got five points now in the quarter. He is too good a mid-range shooter to leave him that open. Gord against McDaniels. Shot is up. Williams misses. Timberwolves trail by seven. Down low. Oh, and a beautiful feed leads to a monster jam. I love the throwback basketball. Work it down low and set up your teammate. Outside, Williams to stop the drought. And Williams punches it home. And we see the speed and power. I mean, Williams shows off on that one. The free throw drops for Williams. And Chris Finch has called timeout. He wants to make sure everyone is aligned given the situation right now. And from the sideline, let’s catch up with Hie. I was able to listen in on what Chris Finch was going over with his team. Coach told them to adjust on defense, saying they’re calling it tight right now. We can keep the same effort, but less reaching in and all that. Don’t let them beat us at the line. Send it back to you, Brian and Ally. Thank you for that. Timberwolves trail by eight with the step back. Edwards against Caruso. Rejected by Homegrren and he’s able to get it back. Ober no good for Oklahoma City. They’ve gotten six of 12 shots to go here in this fourth quarter. Connley against Gilis Alexander. The first one falls. Both free throws good from Gilis Alexander. Here’s Edwards. Oh, and there’s the whistle on the shot. So, two free throws for him coming up. Good whistle there. Good on the first and that brings him within single digits. He’s off on the free throw. Unable to get the second one to drop. Listen, it’s only one miss, but it hurts all the same as they try to cut into this lead. Here’s Williams from down in the low post it goes. Williams has got 10 points here in the second half. We talk about Williams versatility as a scorer. He can get his points from just about any spot on the floor. It’s Edwards on the wing. He’s guarded by Caruso. Three on the clock with a tear drop. Edwards can’t hit. He’s playing bigger than his listed height. He’s doing work on that glass. Back to Gilas Alexander. goes up and lays it in nice and easy. Gilg Alexander’s got 44 and there’s no way this margin gets closed down. Great execution of a game plan and a nice win here for the Thunder. I was really impressed with their attitude today, Graham. Competitive game. They battled through every step of the way. NBA, can you say big time effort and energy? I mean just a tremendous performance. They were welld deserving of this win. And what a huge performance it was for Shay Gilis Alexander. The scoring effort from him. Unreal. Carrying this team. I mean he was amazing tonight. Showing us that killer instinct right now. No letting the foot off the gas for them. And you want to save your best for last. Tonight they’ve done that and then some. Now here’s Edwards. and resting for it there. But no one has possession. We’ll have a jump ball. Dort the pass to Gilis Alexander. And so Oklahoma City takes this one. And by a big margin, a competitive game, you have to feel like this crowd gave him a little extra edge. Yeah, they really fed off the energy. You saw their activity level go up. Just a tremendous performance. Thank you for joining us. That’ll do it for now for Doris Burke, Alli Leforce, and Grant Hill and all of our crew. This is Brian Anderson thanking you for watching this 2K Sports presentation of the NBA. And let’s reveal our player of the game, Shay Gilis Alexander.
