Minnesota Frost celebrate PWHL title repeat [RAW]

All right. I can’t quite hear you, Tim, but we are here with Taylor Heisy. You’re a PWHL champion again. Back to back. Back to back, baby. Um, I’m just happy to be here. Obviously, this team has pushed so hard and I think the biggest thing is that our fourth line scored almost all of our goals in the second part of playoffs and that says everything about our team. So, from top to bottom, I’m happy for everyone and we’re excited to be here. How has this happened? You guys get in all these pressure packed situations, but you never f. No, I mean it’s not never done until the fat lady sings. So until that buzzer goes off, we’re going to play through the whole thing. So I think for Ottawa, they had played like seven overtime games in a row. Um for us it had been like five. So I think just digging in and realizing like this is why you play the game. Like throwing confetti and throwing your hats like that’s exactly why you do what you do and it’s very exciting. How about doing this in your home state on your home eyes? I mean, Boston was special last year in its own remark, but I think doing it here with my entire family and everyone here, including everyone in the stands, it made it even more special. And I know when we threw our we threw our gloves, we threw our helmets, everyone was so excited. And doing it in front of that many people just proves, you know, we’re the state of hockey for a reason. Seven motans, including yourself, are champions. What does it say about this state and the type of players that you produce? Oh, Minnesota breeds champions. I I mean that’s probably a bold quote, but um I think time and time again, whether that be on the national level and now the PWHL level, um it just proves day in and day out, you know, we got some of the best motans on our team, but we also have some of the best players from other places, countries, and everything, too. So, just proud to be on this on this team with this group and we’re really excited to get going and bring it on the tour to Minnesota yet again. All right, Taylor, congratulations again. This is pretty impressive what you guys have pulled off. I appreciate that. Thank you so much. All right. So, they are PWHL champions, the Minnesota Frost. They have done it here again. Uh I don’t know. Do we have any more time? Can we see what you guys want to roam around here? Let’s see what we can 30 seconds. Well, we’re going uh we’re just going to let you enjoy the party. We won’t have enough time, I guess, for another quick interview, but uh we’ll have much more coming up for you at night. Can you even put into words how this team believes in themselves? No. I mean, it’s similar to last season going through that roller coaster of losing streak and barely getting into the playoffs. And then the fact that we were able to come together and uh very tight series, but the fact we were able to come out on top at home is super special. Two to one every single game of the series, every game overtime. How did you keep your focus throughout all of this? Yeah, my mindset was just stay in the present, you know, don’t think in the past, don’t think in the future. Just have that next shot, next period, whatever it might be mentality. So, you look at what this group has done and like you said, you struggled to get in, but there is such a belief that this team can do so much in the playoffs. Why is that? I think it’s just the culture that we’ve created on this team. Uh, everyone was all in all season despite, you know, some of the bumps in the road. And like I said, it was from the staff down. We have great team leadership and everyone was botted and believed and worked out. So, and last thing doing it here on home ice, goosebumps thinking about the crowd in this building. Um, the fact that we put them through stress going through all the overtimes and but we were able to come out on top today is awesome and we’re really grateful for their support all season long. Congratulations. Thank you. Thanks so much. [Music] Y is this hurting the golf game. I haven’t been able to golf yet. So, all right. I got to Where’d my camera guy go? [Music] What the heck is this like? Yeah, it’s so so surreal. It’s finally nice to win at home. I think last year we got a glimpse of it and then to finally be able to do it in our home crowd has awesome. How does this team continue to put things together and not let the pressure get to you? Yeah, I think you look at our season and our back was up against the wall the entire time and I think at the end of the day, the belief is in our locker room and I think that’s all that matters at the end of the day. When you get to all these over times, how do you keep pushing through it? I think you just take it one shift at a time. It’s so cliche to say, but I think you know like just going through years and years of experience of it, it’s like you know that sometimes you’re going to come out on the short end of it and sometimes you’re not. And I think it’s just continuing to focus on the things that have made us successful all along. And lastly, all the championships you’ve won coming up, how much does that help you in these pressure situations? Yeah, I think it’s pre pressure is a privilege and I think it’s like I said, cliche, but I think it’s all those years of experience that help you into moments like these. Awesome. just how does this team continue to believe? Um I think it’s it is hard to believe sometimes but I think this group we’ve been through so much together when you look through last year um and this year and we did believe and we knew that that’s what you needed at the end of the day. We look down our lineup um and we have so many players with incredible experience, incredible skill um and we know everyone’s going to go out there and do their job. And if that makes it easy to believe when you know it’s it’s not doesn’t have to be you. You go out there, do what you need to do, and the next group’s going out and taking care of their business. Um and it it was really fun to roll as we were rolling and playing some really good hockey, I think, here in these last two games and luckily got rewarded with it. There’s so many winners on your roster. How much does that help this team when you say you look down the bench, you go, “She’s won that, she’s won that, this one’s won this, this one’s did this.” How much does that kind of settle the team down knowing that everybody has that on their resume? I think it’s huge. Like having experience winning big championships, being being on in those moments, it’s it’s not easy. And so to have any experience like you said, wherever that was, whether it was last year, college, other pro leagues, um, we are so lucky to have that and I think it really helped us. Overtime, four straight overtime. How do you handle that pressure when you get into these situations? It’s like you had to walk down that tunnel. It’s like we had a one- nothing lead. We could have got out of here. Now we got to do this, you know? Not surprised. Obviously was a great team. um would have loved to do it in regulation, but if we need more minutes, we need more minutes. Um and I think I was proud of our group. We weren’t phased. There wasn’t any oh, you know, there wasn’t any, oh shoot, we almost had it. You just have to reset and go out there and do the job in front of you, and that was get another goal. Um so I’m really proud of how we battled through that. How about your play? How meaningful was this to end a season like this, two straight titles? I I it’s so fun winning that that last game of the season. Um it’s incredible. You’ve put in so much throughout the year, throughout the summer leading into it. Um and so to be rewarded like that, it’s it’s not you don’t always get to do that. And so to be able to do that with this group, it really means a lot. I I think we have a special group here who really finds a way to come together when we need it most. Last thing for you. What was it like when you saw the sticks go up and knew you had it? I un I was in shock. Like I said, I I don’t I didn’t see a bit of the goal at first. I was just saw us leaving the bench. Um and I I really couldn’t believe it. Like the way we had battled and stuck through. Um it just really didn’t hit me for a minute and I needed to make sure throw the gloves and everything. U make sure it was a good goal. And uh once once I saw it and again to see that it was Liz Shepard who just had an unreal series, she’s had an unreal two seasons. She’s just a phenomenal player. So, it was just really happy. Congratulations. All right. First off, who are all these people behind you? Yeah, I’ve got my aunt, my cousins, and their kids. You know, they they don’t miss a game. So, it was a ton of fun to do this with them in the stands today. All right. What is it about this team? How have you guys held this together? Yeah, I mean, we felt like our playoff started, you know, the last week of the regular season. So, we’ve been in that go mode since then and just says so much about the character of our team, about our leadership, the way we were able to to stay calm and cool when we were going through all the highs and lows of this run. Um, yeah. When you got to the intermission going into overtime, was there a conversation? Did anybody say anything or because you’ve been through these so many times, you were just like, well, we know a hockey game is no longer three periods, right? Right. Like we were like, could it go any other way? Of course, it’s going overtime. But, you know, we knew obviously we wanted to hold on to that lead in the third, but we came in the locker room and everything we wanted to accomplish was still right in front of us and we believed in our group that, you know, there was no other way than us walking out of here as champions. All right. When you saw that puck and you saw the net, Yeah. what was going through your head? Yeah, I think it took me took me two tries to to put it in. It was a great play um from behind the net and then I think I was down and I was up and I was down again and and the party was on. So, not a ton coming to the memory right now, but um yeah, just super excited that we were able to finish this off. And to do this in your home state, there’s seven of you from here and to do it on your home turf. How special will that memory be for you? Yeah, it’s unbelievable. Like, we obviously had a little taste of it last year and and then it was taken away. So, we came in knowing that we really wanted to get this done for our fans, for our family, for ourselves so we didn’t have to get back on a plane. Um, but to have 11,000 people, you know, cheering us on and going crazy just just adds to it. Congratulations. Thank you. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] So excited. [Applause] [Music] Get up there. [Music] Take this. It’s great.
