Chicago Cubs vs. Colorado Rockies MLB game highlights (May 28, 2025) l Marquee Sports Network

[Music] Hey, welcome to Cubs baseball here on Marquee Sports Network. Tonight, the Cubs go for this sweep as they take on the Colorado Rockies. And it’s the Rockies and the Cubs coming up here tonight as the Cubs go for the sweep. Let’s check out the Rockies lineup. It is brought to you by Ford. It’ll go back, Freeman, and Tovar. Goodman, Farmer, McMahon. Arcia just signed and he will DH. It’ll be Tolia and then Mickey Moniac and that group will go up against Matthew Boyd. He has been so consistent. Yeah, especially here at Wrigley. He has a three erra 4 and0. He hasn’t walked anyone here since April 23rd. A tough season for Colorado. Swing and a miss. 95 on the edge and Beck swings through it. Well, Beck being aggressive, swinging. We saw this is reminiscent of Cincinnati. difference today. Boy, putting him away. Just going with the heat. The fast ball outer half and back swings right through it. Utilizes the pitch comb. He wears it on his hip. Uses it sometimes. That’s right through there. See you later. He has struck out the first two here tonight. The NL shortstop. Two-2. Popped up Swanson and her Nico gives way and Pansby makes the catch. Let’s check out the Cubs lineup. It’s brought to you by Vinnie’s Beverage Depot. If you can’t find it at Vinny’s, it’s probably not worth drinking. They’re the major league leaders in runs per game. It goes half, Tucker, Suzuki, PCA, Kelly, and Bush, Swanson, Horner, and Shaw. He does it so quietly, especially in this lineup. That is drilled out towards left center field. That’s back and it hits the wall. Tucker towards third. Quickberry’s going to send him on his way to the plate and Kyle is in. It’s Sea Suzuki is major league leading 51st RBI. The Cubs leading one- nothing. I mean, he absolutely smoked it. This double brought to you by Elgen Hyundai. Home of the 20ear and 200,000 mi warranty on every new car. I mean, there was really nothing quiet about that one. 111.7 off the bat. Just rips it a slider left over the plate. And so Suzuki see a couple earlier in the at bat. Takes advantage. Aggressive in the base running. Kyle Tucker coming [Applause] around. Two swing and a miss. That was the change up and a good one. So against the righties, he’ll use that change up. He does it effectively, I think, especially with the way his four seamer is looking right now. Just keeping the hitters off balance. So he throws in the change up. Doesn’t even need to be completely off the plate today. Yes, he is. Wait, me? Big Crow Armstrong there and he makes the catch swing and a miss and Tia is down on strikes. He chased the change up and there’s one away. So Vid has been working the fast ball and then the change up against the righty. Notice how it just goes away from him. Left hey fires swing and a miss. 1901 is like 350 in the air. Swanson get a good jump on it into foul ground. Makes the catch cuz there aren’t a lot. Popped in the air. Nico her out and pulls it down on it and it’s it’s worked pretty well. I think there’s a confidence as you have the swing and miss there on the change up from Boyd. So he throws the four seamer then goes back with the change up. Just keep mixing it up. I mean that’s a good look. Just working the outer edge. Tovar chases. Here’s a two- two. Popped up into the fog. Dansby Swanson on the dirt. Shuffle step. He’s got uh Oh. Oh. Did he get it? PCA down the line and it’s gone. Number 15 raise the roof and it’s two nothing. How do you feel about MVP J Mo? He’s fun to watch. He’s uh obviously electric on the base pass, electric on defense. He’s swinging the heck out of it this year. He’s been a lot of fun to sit back and watch. ahead throwing strikes. Good pitch sling and a miss as he got him chasing a change up. Strike out number seven. Boyd the 1-1 and a base hit the other way for McMahon. Swinging a fly ball out towards left center field. That one falling. Oh man, Swanson. almost came up with a spectacular [Applause] catch. Watch the range where Dan’s going. Everyone’s converging and they’re all just kind of in no man’s land. That’s where the ball ends up at least. So Dansy’s got the best effort. reaches out the glove nearly makes what would be an incredible grab on the ground to short Swanson. They get one there into the first two. Great work by Matthew Boyd. The Gold Glovers up the middle. Turn it 643 [Music] at the left leg. The one that’s up right now. He puts it out. [Applause] He was talking about the buffer zone that umpires we’re used to dealing with. Left field half back near the wall and he makes the catch right up against the bricks and the ivy. [Applause] Three times he’s won the gold glove each of the last three years. Our T-Mobile coverage cam. Let’s check it out. And how about Ian Half going to the limit and left. We haven’t seen a lot of balls hit this far in this series because of the weather, but Ian Half tracks this one to the Ivy. Makes a great catch. Oh, the ball move. He threw it away. And around second and on his way to third is Moniac. He had him dead to rights. I don’t know if they were going to call the B there. He’s got that good Jimmy Key B move, but here’s the pitch. Fly ball out towards left center. Pete Cro Armstrong is back. Back some more and he makes the catch. Tagging from third and coming in to score is Mickey Moniac. And it’s a two-1 game. Program. [Applause] Check swing. Did he go? Yes, he did. Struck him out. Rockies get on the board. It’s 2-1. Swalks. That’s a great combination for a bullpen and why they’ve been really successful as of late. On the ground is short. Let’s see if they can turn it. They get one. And they do turn it. 643. They’ve been active up the middle. Swanson and her turn it again. So, you give up a hit, but you got a guy on first. And what could it lead to? Nice double play. Dansby. So smooth, Nico. The turn making it look easy. 2-2 swing and a miss and Moniac is [Applause] gone. This is part of who Brad Keller is. I mean, he can throw the fast ball. He can also just get you with the good stuff. Fly ball right field. Kyle Tucker makes the grab. Brad Keller looking sharp. Beautiful shots from our Megalodon camera powered by Nissan. Nissan makes cars that thrill. Experience the thrill yourself today. Shop nissanusa.com. A one, two, and a swing and a miss. Struck him out. Oh, he certainly got the stuff for it. So Palencia I mean just bearing the breaking ball there. You get the chase. So you go from a 100 to that. The one tap softly towards third. Shaw charges. Unloads. Got two balls, two strikes. Two outs. Base is empty. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. Ball game comes win. And they sweep the Rockies and stay red hot. Hey, let’s sing that song. [Applause] [Music] [Applause] today. What do you say? What do you say? [Applause]

  1. The Rockies are now 9-47.. Starting from now how long will it take them to win 100 games. The over/under is six years.. I have the over.

  2. You can't find a bigger Cub fan than me at 70 years old and thrilled with the sweep. I just have to say that Elise Menaker made watching the game a challenge. She talks too much and her voice is annoying. Let us just watch the game without hearing you babble about a game you never played. Bring back JD fast. Don't let me endure her again. I'll turn on the radio and listen to Pat Hughes next time.

  3. 8:38 "I mean he can throw the fastball. He can also (pause……try to think of something basebally to say….) just get you with the good stuff."
    Such deeeep insight there.

  4. Cubs offense…5 outs on first pitch swings, 3 outs on second pitch swings, and hit into 3 double plays against the worst team in baseball. Gotta be better than that.

  5. I can't even get through this highlight video, can't handle the woman announcer, stay in you're lane, can't stand woman announcer

  6. Winning ugly but winning the ones they have to early in the year… I know its early but seems like there is magic in the air this year!!! GO CUBS GO

  7. 5:18 The shortstop did NOT almost make a spectacular catch.
He interfered with the outfielders in the play.
The shortstop had no business going that far backwards for that fly ball.
The player going backwards yields to the player coming forward.
I learned that in Little League.
Where I did not get paid millions of $ to play baseball.

The left fielder was far more likely to catch the ball BUT had to hesitate in order to not plow into the shortstop.

The shortstop interfered and there is a runner on base.
Therefore the shortstop should be charged with a fielding error.

  8. Barely beating the Rockies I don’t know y’all offense always cool off and we don’t have pitching this not gone end well if they don’t fix the pitching situation
