Cameron Cruises | Strong Start and Timely Hitting Lead Royals Over Reds

right at 500. Trying to improve to a game over 500 with a win today in a series sweep over the Royals. And how about this on Noah Cameron? He is looking to become the second pitcher since 1893 to begin his Major League Baseball career with four straight starts. So, six and a third or more innings and zero or one run allowed. He has been nearly unhitable. So, two fly ball outs, one to left, one to center, and up comes Ellie Dela Cruz. up there right-handed. Didn’t mean to do it. Check swing. Slow roller. India to his left. Throws quickly out at first. And a very good start for Noah Cameron. One, two, three. Nothing across. A hard throwing Hunter Green. I would imagine we’ll be back at least closer to the Hunter Green that we’ve seen before. The groin issue that he had that forced him out. Jonathan India. India hitting 232. All right. Bass is lined into left field and India got on top of it and just drilled it into left field. So a good start and now Bobby Win Jr. the heater up, swung through strike three. So Witz down on strikes. That’s a big out. One away for Vinnie Pascantino. India is running and that is ball four and that’ll put two on with one out for Salvador Perez. And the Royals are starting to work on Green’s pitch count. Now to the plate with a one-two and a breaking ball sky in the air right center field. It’s freedle over, but it’s the right fielder that’ll call for it. Connor Joe makes the catch. Two men are out and now Mikel Garcia to right field. Joe barely punches. A single, a walk and two left for the Royals in the first and we’re scoreless. Austin Hayes leads off for the Cincinnati Reds and a swing and a miss. So his problems continue and four up, four down for Cameron. Connor Joe standing in, runner at first with two outs. And now Connor Joe after the first pitch hits a high drive to right. Back goes Ray to make the catch. And once again very efficiently Noah Cameron knocks the Reds down surrendering just that one soft single. Loftton gets his first start on the infield tonight playing at third. And a shot a line drive slicing and it’s going to drop in right center field. So Nick Loftton picking that fast ball into right center field and the Royals have their second hit. So, one-on-one out for John Raeve. There goes Loftton. The pitch is inside. Stevenson throws from his knees and Loftton has a stolen base. Royals trying to make something happen. Now three and two the count on John Rae in a perfect spot for his first big league hit. Foul tip strike three. This fast ball in this ballpark. If you have any kind of undercut to it or an upper swing, you better have some serious thunder in your barrel. Tyrone Blanco. Now Blanco swings and it’s a towering popup off first into foul ground. Spencer Steer by the Royals dugout next to the Camberwell. He’ll make the catch with room to spare. So the inning is over. Former Red Jonathan India faces one of his former teammates as he has all week in Hunter Green. Fast looped up the middle goes over Mlan positioned up the middle and down in his center. A base hit and Jonathan India is two for two. And there was one down for Vinnie. India goes. Pitch missed. Throw down. Got him. Great throw from Stevenson to Ellie. Right on the money to cut down India. Here’s the 3-2 swing. There’s a bouncing ball to the right side. Moving far to his left is the second baseman Mlan. He’ll glove it and flip it over to first in time for the outside retired. Stevenson is one of the two base hits the Reds have on the night. And Stevenson swings and lofts a little base hit into right field. almost an identical spot of where he got his first hit. That was in the second inning. A little blooper into right. It’ll drop in front of John Rave. And the Reds have a two-out single and Spencer Steer steps in. First pitch, line to center, base hit. Field picked up on one bounce by Drew Waters. He gets it back in. A bloop hit by Stevenson into right field. A line drive into center by Spencer Steer. The Reds now have a little something going with two outs. Check swing roller to third and Loftton will take it to the bag to end the inning. Now, Green only went four innings in his last start. A part of that was like Danny told you, he was coming off the injured list from his right groin strain. Off of Green and Garcia will be safe and the Red’s trainer is already on the grass running out from the third base dugout followed by Terry Frank Conan. Well, it caught him right in the back of the right calf. It probably is not as big of an issue, but once he goes and sits down, that’s when you have to start to think about it a little bit. Runner on first, one out for Drew Waters. Here’s the pitch. Garcia runs. Fast ball hit on the ground to the right side, goes under Mlan’s glove into right center. Garcia turns it second, heads to third. Wilson waves him around. Joe picks it up and right. Throw to the plate. Not in time. Garcia slides home safely. He touches the dish with his left hand. The Royals have the first run of the game. It’s one- nothing in the bottom of the fourth. Garcia was off with the pitch and never stopped running. And Vance Wilson at third read it all the way. As we go to the bottom of the fifth inning, a lot of folks anticipated a pitcher duel tonight and that’s exactly what we have had. John Rae struck out swinging at a fast ball his first time out. Line base hit right field and he’s going to try for two with his helmet flying off his head and diving into second base. John Rave has his first big league hit. Now that’s a first big league hit. Yes, it is. And you can see these fans, you hear the fans, they appreciate it. What a moment for the for John Raven and his family waiting patiently for it. That’ll bring up Blanco now the number nine hitter. Two pitch and he does square and he bunts it right side. A beauty. The first baseman steer has it. His only play will be back to first base to the second baseman Mlan. A sacrifice well done with two strikes. But Green still has to get past Bobby Jr. who is due. He is 0 for two tonight. Swing and a grounder. That’s fair up the first baseline and rolls into a foul territory down the right field line. In to score comes Rave. Bobby gets to second with an RBI double and the Royals double their lead. It’s two nothing. So Bobby shoots it the other way right up the first baseline just inside the bag and he breaks an 0 for12 for Bobby overall and 0 for nine in the series as he drives in his 29th run of the year. Okay. So if Noah Cameron goes at least six and a third and allows one run or less he would do so for a fourth consecutive start, there is only one pitcher that’s done that since 1893 in his first four major league starts and it’s high ball four. So the Reds have a two out base runner. Hayes is on and that’ll bring up Tyler Stevenson. The two and he lines this one into left field. A sinking line drive that’s down for a hit. Tyrone Blanco over to cut it off. Pays is into second base, hobbling on the base hit to left field by Tyler Stevenson. The Reds have runners at first and second with two outs. And now Spencer Steer comes to the plate. Line drive, base hit, left field off the bat of Spencer Steer. Here comes Hayes chugging around third. The throw to the plate’s not in time and the Reds are on the board. Two to one Kansas City. An RBI single for Spencer Steer. RBI number 16 for Spencer. Second time that Steer has really leveled up a baseball and hit a line drive today. hit one to center field his last time up. Two on, two out. Connor Joe grounds it to third. Loftton will go the short way and that ends the inning. So Cameron has got six innings. He’s given up one run. Brings up John Rave who’s got the first big league hit out of the way. A double down the right field line. And now he has a chance to drive in his first run. Runners go. Swinging a miss. Got him with a high breaking ball and down on strikes John Ra. And the inning is over. Noah Cameron is back on the mound for the top of the seventh inning. Cameron’s now thrown 84 pitches through six innings of one-run ball. Breaking ball hit high in the air deep left center field. Blanco sprints into the gap. Waters two and Waters is there to make the catch just shy of the warning track. He’s facing Garrett Hansen now to high ball four. Just the second walk issued by Cameron. Materero makes his way to the steps and Noah Cameron will go six and a third tonight. He is responsible for the runner at first base. Serpon for game 23 of his season. Off to a tougher start, but you’ve seen him pitch well of late. Not running the pitch. Fredel swings, bounces it to the left side. Glove by Wit. No throw. He will just eat it. Everybody safe. And the Reds have him at first and second with one out. Here’s the pitch. Hit on the ground toward third. Loftton snares it over to second for one. Reel into first in time for two. inning over on Hel Sera strands Noah Cameron’s runner. Six and a third innings of one-run ball officially for Noah Cameron tonight. Back-to- back walks for May to start the bottom of the seventh inning. Now, this is a tight ball game. The Royals lead the Reds two to one in the bottom of the seventh inning. And this is the kind of situation which the Royals would love to capitalize. Bounces in, skips past Stevenson all the way to the back stop. It’s 90 ft for Isbel and India. Two in scoring position for Bobby Wit Jr. Sliced in the air deep to right field. Joe drifts back onto the warning track, makes the catch. Plenty deep enough for Isbel to tag up and score from third. It’s a sacrifice fly and the Royals extend their lead. It’s three to one in the bottom of the seventh. Two down with Salvador Perez coming up. Grounded to short. Da Cruz. Nice comeback. Royals had a run. Red’s down two. De La Cruz leads off. He’s 0 for three. Has not left the infield and he drives it to right center. Rave going way back and that’s over his head and off the wall. De La Cruz up to second. A standing double. Nice at bat. Great start for the Reds here in the eighth. Fast ball middle and Ellie does a great job on the swing here. Stays inside of it and just blisters it off the right center field wall. De La Cruz cranked a leadoff double. He lingers at third with two down. Spencer Steer two hits. The last one drove in a run. Steer into left field. Base hit. Da Cruz could walk home. That’s a third hit and a second riby for Spencer Steer. The Reds are within a run. And once again, Matt Quataro going back to the mound. He will point to his bullpin. New pitcher coming in for the Royals. Benson goes after the first pitch and pops it up. That should end the inning. Loftton makes the play. One pitch, one out. And Steins with a grin on his face heading back toward the Royals dugout. Carlos got the final out of the eighth inning on one pitch against pinch hitter Will Benson. Matt Mlan who is 0 for three. The 8 n and one hitters are coming up. Called third strike and a delayed call by Carlos Torres. And now Carlos Torres just threw somebody out of the game. The argument now is who was ejected because Carlos Torres threw somebody out and then immediately said, “No, no, no, not him.” Well, I see Nick Martinez, it looks like, has his arms outstretched. Tito will probably follow him. Yes, he’ll follow him into the showers early. Carlos gives the quick point in the ejection. Keon now. The two- two pitch and a ground ball up the middle. Backhand. India spins, throws out at first. Excellent play by India who went way to his right. He was headed toward short center field when he turned and got the throw back to Benny Pasquantino. Fredo’s been on twice, a couple of singles. Struck him out. A rhino kame Kameh. The Royals win it and win the final game of the series.

Noah Cameron turned in another quality start and the Royals bats came up big in clutch moments to take the series finale vs. the Reds.
