Joe Milton III: Blessed to be Here | Dallas Cowboys 2025

What do you think of this offense and what it can be like just stylistically what Shotti’s trying to get done? Um the offense can be explosive. Um I feel like you know we we taking a right step in the right direction every day. Um I feel like the the way that we approach the days and the way that we go about the days you know we just putting our best foot forward. Um and we we taking attention we paying attention to small details um and understanding what he asking for us to do. So that’s pretty much it. Were you looking for a fresh start somewhere? Like did the trade catch you by surprise? What? How do you What do you What sense do you make of it? Uh yes, it did catch me by surprise. Uh I mean um was I surprised? Yes. Um I kind of woke up around like 7:00, woke up to a call and I knew I was getting traded and you know only thing I could have done at that well only thing I did at that moment was thank God. um you know a bless. So um coming here was a was a blessing. Um I didn’t know it was going to be here. Um it was a my agent said it was multiple teams that called so I didn’t know where I was going to end up. Um I was just thankful to go somewhere. Why was it why are you blessed to be here? What what was it about? Um man back in the heat for one um they allowed me to play in the dome for two um for three. Um Miss America’s team and then um also it’s just great to learn from somebody like that. the last game that you started against Buffalo, what do you think you showed in that game that what of what can be for what you can be? Um, I don’t think I showed nothing for real. Um, I think I was just out there having fun. Um, you know, me me personally, I feel like it was just, you know, just doing what the play call wanted me to do. Um, and that was just executing plays. Um, there were some plays where I extended plays, but at the end of the day, you know, I was just doing what I knew how to do. Um, and what AP wanted. What’s the difference in the dynamic when you were behind a guy like Drake, who’s also a young guy versus now working with someone like Dak and, you know, being in the position you’re in. Um, I feel like I can learn something. Um, and when I say that, um, you know, Dak, he played more football than I have. Um, and he been in the NFL longer. So, I feel like I can learn something from the aspect of like just quarterback overall. Um because he’s seen a lot. He’s been through a lot. So just being able to figure out the whole quarterback position as a whole. Speaking of having fun earlier, the back flip. Yeah. Tell what’s the backtory there? I know you’ve done it in a game before, but is that a daily occurrence? What? Um yeah, I do a back flip. Uh once football start, I try to do a back flip every day. Um when did start? Uh kind of when I got to the NFL. I did it at Tennessee, but um since I was the starter, uh Hypo didn’t want me to do it too much. Uh but I told him like, “Man, I’m good.” Like like this is what I do, man. I’m I’m fine. Trust me. And he was like, “Okay.” So, I kept doing it. Obviously, you’re getting some mentorship from D. Shotty spoke also to get some mentorship from Red as well. Just talk about the chemistry in that quarterback room and just how you guys are playing off of each other, how it can make you better. Yeah, it’s great, man. you know, um we all us through have three different games. Um and you know, Dak brings the most experience to the room and Will’s he been around football, you know, throughout his whole life. So, and then you got me where I didn’t grow up with a quarterback coach. Um I just happen to be so athletic and I bring extra tools. I done learned am along the way and I’m able to do certain things. So, like putting it all together, we just shape one great Paul’s quarterback, uh, you know what I mean? So, it’s just great, you know, we feed off each other. We, um, they help me out a lot, man. I know. Shout out to those two, man. Like, respect for sure. Uh, just like no matter what it is, like they willing to help regardless. For someone who’s never played the position, what’s what’s the quickest way for a quarterback to get acclimated to it? Maybe a new playbook, new scheme? Uh it depends. Um I done been through several ways. Um I done started off learning by formations. I done started off learning by um concepts. I done started off learning about just all runs or all pass. Like it depends. But the best way to do it is learn by concepts. And then if you when you get time off, learn the u learn the um the formations. Learn the formations and then you’ll be fine. Cuz the more you learn the concepts, the better you’ll know where guys will be. But I feel like guys are different. Um, I feel like for me and what one of my quarterback trainers taught me is use poker chips. Uh, put some letter on poker chips and move those guys around. Get a slip of white tape, make that your line of scrimmage and move that around cuz it’s easier instead of drawing and erasing. So, Shotti was talking today about um when coordinators come in and they’re talking about adapting the language to the current, you know, the existing format. How different is the language here than Oh, it’s way different. Um this offense here bring me back to more of my college days. Um and my last offense was more everybody get tagged um on which routes. So this this offense here is more fast and um for sure explosive. When did you start doing that? Just kind of follow up on that. What is your process in terms of like that you talk about with the poker chips and kind of like seeing them protections in terms of the language? Is it something that you do out loud or how do you do that? Well, it depends. Um, so for me, um, my girl, she’ll have the script and she’ll literally call out a play and I have to repeat it back to her and then my poker chips will be lined up and then I’ll just draw the formation or line the poker up in the formation and then I’ll move them around based off which routes they have. Almost like running lines. Yeah, basically. Yes. How often you do that? Um, it depends. So like when I’m really like struggling and that’s hardly because I learn fast but I do it like when we get back off. So like when we go off on the month break I do that a lot. I do that every day. Um I haven’t done it since I’ve been here because I’m learning more of the concepts first um not formation. So I’ll do it when we get off. Mhm. How did you kind of was your girlfriend just down to do it like or did you say like hey you know can you help me or she’s like hey I will help you. Um, I Well, the first day it happened, she just grabbed the script and see what I was reading and then she said a play and then I said it back to her and then she just kept going ever since then. And we did it as uh my first before I got drafted. We was doing it um on the way home. So, we’ll drive like 2 hours and 30 minutes and we was just doing it in the car. Mhm. So, you kind of have like a target date, I guess, when you might start doing that kind of work again here after the Oh, yeah. Um, yeah, definitely. I got to buy some new walkie-talkies though for sure. And that after that Buffalo game, you didn’t think anything like there’s no feeling of like, man, you know, I can do this. The NFL isn’t that much, man. After the Buffalo game, I after the Buffalo game, I was like, man, it’s fun. Um, I feel like I can keep doing this. Um, I feel like there’s more that I need to let out. Um, far as that Buffalo game, but other than that, man, I was just having fun. It’s probably one of my best days of my life. If somebody had never seen you play and said said, “Let me see one play from that game that you like the most.” What What play would it have been? Sheesh. Probably my probably the the naked to the left when Buddy tried the linebacker tried to hit me and I stood over him uh and I still completed a crosser. I was talking a lot of trash for sure. Yeah, that one for sure. I guess I guess from afar the feeling is like when you see you have a game like that, you think that well that organization’s not going to let him go anywhere, you know? So, did you kind of have that kind of that feeling as well? Um, I really didn’t know to be honest. You know, everything was up for grabs. You know, I went in there, I did what the the play call and the head coach wanted me to do and that’s win the game. That’s all we preached that week and that’s what I did. So, I didn’t know what was going to happen. It was the last game of the season. I was just going off, you know, happy. Um, I went off with a win, my first game ever the NFL. So, that’s pretty much all I was thinking about and then until two months later and boom, I’m here. So, yeah. What was the draft process like? I mean on actual the draft day next day like waiting for your name to be called. What was that like? Um to be honest it was it was cool at first because it was like surreal. It was just like man like this actually happening and then it was like okay talking to my agent. I was supposed to go second round then it was like okay we don’t know what happened and then it was like people want to talk to me then it’s like oh such and such. And I’m like all right so what’s going to happen? Where am I going to go? And I got get in the car to go to the uh the cookout. And as I’m in the car on the third day, I get up. It’s a New England at the top. And I was just like, “Should I answer it?” And they was like, “Yeah.” I’m like, “I really don’t want to answer it.” And they was like, “Answer it.” So I picked it up and I was at New England. Were you just scared to answer it or I wouldn’t say more scared to answer. I was more mad that I had to go that late. Um so it just add a fuel to the fire for sure. Um, I feel like my chip on my shoulder got bigger.

  1. Ma tentative de sexto s'est terminée par un autocorrecteur qui a remplacé "vilain" par "hautain". Rien de tel que d'insulter accidentellement son partenaire pour casser l'ambiance🌺

  2. Is it possible he is the future.. is it possible, the Joneses lucked into a guy for the third time?🧐🧐 it will be interesting to find out. Romo… LUCK… Dak LUCK…. Let’s see what happens down the road.

  3. The media be asking dumb questions sometimes lol “so was your girl down to help or did you ask her to help” such a pointless waste of a question 🙄
