Now that we have an Edmonton-Florida rematch, here’s a fun fact: No team has lost back-to-back cup finals since the Boston Bruins in 77 and 78.

  1. Huh, but then again given that was the dynasty era in the NHL so it makes sense.

  2. Nice stat🤙.
I have to root for the Oilers on this one. The state of Florida shouldn’t be allowed to win one Cup, let alone a fourth.

  3. However, of the 10 times there has been a back to back matchup in the cup final, 7 of those 10 have featured the same team winning twice. The only ones that featured both winning were the rangers/leafs in the 20s, the oilers/islanders in 83-84, and of course, pitt and Detroit in 08 and 09

  4. In the Bruins defense that dynasty Canadiens team could actually win the Cup today – with expansion and the draft you’ll never have a team with that much talent (or the 80s Oilers) ever again.

  5. I’m pulling for the Oil. They’re the only team worthy to bring the cup back to Canada.

  6. Here’s another stat that I found

Since 1989, 26 out of 35 Cup champs have had home ice advantage

You’re more likely to win the Cup if you have home ice advantage

  7. Tbh it will be close, prob Florida slight favorites, but would be cool for a Canadian Team to win, last time was 1994 if I remember correctly.

  8. These were the magical seasons when I became a Habs fan for life, swimming upstream like a beleaguered salmon trying to pass the rapids at Yonge and Carlton… as Harold Ballard proved himself to be the worst pro sports owner until Sir Daniel Snyder came along.

  9. Im having nightmares of that monster.. that brick wall… that… that.. beast… Bobrovsky..

  10. Why in the world are they waiting to Wednesday to start the series. What a vibe killer. Should be starting Sunday the absolute latest.
