But let’s get to this one between the Arizona Diamondbacks and the Washington Nationals. The Diamondbacks sending out Mel Kelly for the start in this one. While the Nationals will counter with Jake Irvin and you know Kelly has been, you know, a hard pitcher for me to figure out at times this season. And last time out against the uh the Cardinals, he wasn’t great. It was six innings, a four-run ball, gave up six hits, six strikeouts, and it was a game with the uh the Diamondbacks ended up losing six to five. And prior to that, I mean, Kelly was solid at home against the Colorado Rockies. But again, you wonder if that was because, you know, you’re playing the Colorado Rockies at home and uh, you know, the Colorado Rockies have not been a team that I’ve wanted to back much away from Kors this season, you know, but on on the road, he’s also had good starts against the Giants, the Phillies, the Cubs. He’s had solid career success against the Nationals as well. So, I can understand why the line may be where it is with the uh with, you know, the um the Diamondbacks being favorites here and, you know, Kelly sporting a 2.35 home erra, 156 opponent’s batting average. But you’re going against a Nationals team that has been able to do some damage as of late. You know, especially against right-handed pitching, hitting 283 in the last two weeks against righties. That’s top five in baseball with a low strikeout rate at 17.9%. The team OPS numbers are actually second best in baseball. The isolated power numbers are the best in baseball. So, you know, hitter friendly environment like Chase Field, I think Kelly could get hit for a couple runs here. And on top of that, that Diamondbacks bullpen is back to looking like the Diamondbacks bullpen of the last few seasons. A 7.80 ERA over the last week is just atrocious. And again, it’s kind of what I’ve come to expect from the Arizona Diamondbacks in relief the last couple years. So, think if you’re going to back the Diamondbacks, I think maybe you do it in the first five, but I’m I’m going to be solidly on the on the Nationals here. Jake Irvin is not my favorite pitcher in this rotation, don’t get me wrong, but he’s had back-to-back quality starts on the road. Three quality starts in his last four road starts against Baltimore, Atlanta, and Colorado. He did struggle against the Phillies, but realistically, the Phillies are are a lineup that I could see him strugg see see any pitcher struggling with. And in his starts this season, the uh the Nationals have a winning record on the road and a 4-1 record on the plus one and a half run line. They’ve been able to keep games close with Irvin on the bump. And I just think this is another spot where they could I mean the bullpen RA for the Nationals hasn’t been great. The bullpen for the Nationals this whole season has been shaky in the last week. Their RRA is just outside the bottom five at 4.73. But again, even though Kelly I think is the better starter, I think that, you know, this could be a bit of a tricky situation for the Diamondbacks, who granted still have decent numbers against righties in the last two weeks, but I’ll tell you, they’re not playing well enough to justify this kind of price tag in my opinion. So, I’m going to take a shot here with the Nationals plus one and a half and I might put something on the Nationals money line at plus 184 and that’s going to be my free pick.
