The Phoenix Suns Coaching Search Makes NO SENSE
The Phoenix Suns have been searching for Mike Budenholzer’s replacement for a while now, and the reported final round of names advancing to third round of interviews have brought up questions about the franchise’s process in whittling down their prospective candidates. Erik Ruby discussing how weird the late addition of David Fizdale has been, and what questions should be asked about what we know about the coaching search led by Brian Gregory and Mat Ishbia.

It's nice that the players still have faith in Fizdale but yeah, if they felt that way about Fiz they should have said something much sooner. It should have happened back when February when the player beefs with Bud were becoming louder and less forgivable compared to what went down with Nurk months prior, then you have 2 months to test him out and see if he's a keeper.
Forgot who it was that floated around that the SUns are considering hiring multiple guys in this coaching search to round out the staff, but after what happened with Vogel and KY there needs to not only be a clear pecking order but a united direction compared to the two headed monster that apparently bickered with one another on what was best for the team rather than collaborate and set the tone from the beginning.
TL;DR, whatever happens, I expect the real change to come from what Mat stated outright: more defense, more on-ball pressure, more rebounding, more second chance opportunities. Gregory reiterated that when he mentioned that most of the best teams today don't shoot the ball particularly well but win via superior rebounding and defense and transition offense. Whoever they hire as coach better have a clear idea on how to execute that and whoever's interviewing them also needs some kind of assurance the roster will have the tools to execute it or at least guys who can be transformed into system players if they don't already excel in those things.
fizdale big mistake
The search doesn't feel organized, competent, or professional. Seems totally indecisive–which is bad leadership.
What happens is, theyâre gonna hire coach that Booker wonât wanna play with and heâs gonna ask for a trade. Thatâs the process.
Hardly anything the Suns have done since Mat Ishbia purchased the team makes sense
Hey Dude, why are eyes glazed?
Your eyes big fella
Like I said the Suns organization is bipolar
I was not concerned until i heard the âfinalist listâ was 6 deep. It screams indecision. That scares me. Iâm not worried who the hire will be, all great candidates, it worries me that there will be a pattern of indecision.
