But let’s get to this one between the Toronto Blue Jays in the Athletics. It’s the Toronto Blue Jays sending out Chris Basset for the start in this one while the Blue J excuse me while the Athletics will counter with Jeffrey Springs. Now Basset for the Blue Jays coming off of a rough start at Stein Brener Field. He gave up five runs on nine hits over four innings of work. But what tells me that it was a rough outing for Basset just in general and maybe not necessarily, you know, having to play at Stein Brener Field was that he only gave up one home run. He gave up nine hits. He only had two strikeouts. So, the ball was being put in play a lot against Basset in that game. And we’ve seen some inconsistent results from Basset. I mean, it’s the fourth start in his last seven where he’s given up at least four earned runs and he’s only made it past five into like six full innings in one of those four outings. So, really struggled in the last time he faced these these athletics last season at home gave up seven runs on eight hits, two home runs over just four innings of work in a loss. And you know, I worry that that could, you know, be a be a problem for Basset, but not right now. The Athletics are still, you know, they’re a good team. You know, they they have some decent numbers this season, but in the last two weeks against right-handed pitching, they’re only hitting 225. That’s bottom 10 in baseball. The team OPS numbers, yet they’re just outside the bottom 10. The isolated power numbers are below league average. The Bab, you know, hasn’t been anything to write home about. It’s hasn’t been anything special. It’s bottom 10 as well. So, I think that the uh the excuse me, the athletics here could struggle considering Basset could have a nice start at home. The Blue Jays have one of the better bullpen RAS in baseball over the last week at 2.25. So, I do think that the Blue Jays could have some success here from a defensive standpoint, but offensively, I I don’t know if I’m buying it. I at the last check, because I am filming this video while the game is still going on, the Blue Jays kicked the crap out of the Athletics in the opener. They I think they were scoring 12 runs last I checked. But do I trust the Blue Jays to do that consistently? Not necessarily. Especially because they’re up against a lefty here in Jeffrey Springs who has been rock solid for the better part of the last month. In the month of May, he’s been really, really good. You know, he’s gone six plus innings in four of his five starts in the month of May. Across the month of May, he’s got an erra of 2.05, a 171 opponent’s batting average. And the Toronto Blue Jays against left-handed pitching in the last two weeks. And while they were hitting lefties really well at one point earlier on, right now they’re only hitting 200 against lefties. And it’s only a sample size of 55 plate appearances over the last two weeks. You kind of got to take it with a grain of salt and keep it in the back of your mind that they’re not seeing lefties every day. So could be a bit of a shock to the system. They’re just outside the bottom five in baseball in the last two weeks against lefties in batting average. Team OPS there. Bottom five, isolated power. They’re dead last. The Babbip hasn’t been great either. That’s bottom 10. So to me, this sets up, I think, is just a low-scoring matchup, which is two, you know, ineffective lineups in, you know, against uh the Blue Jays against the lefty and the Athletics against Bass and a righty. So, give me the under in the first five and the full game between the Blue Jays and the Athletics. And that’s going to be my free pick.
