[Charania] BREAKING: The New York Knicks are relieving Tom Thibodeau of his duties as head coach, sources tell ESPN. Thibodeau led the Knicks to their first East Finals in 25 years, made playoffs in 4 of 5 years and led Knicks to consecutive 50+ win seasons for first time since the 1990s.

  1. Nah that’s wild.

    They better hire an ace of a coach to boot the guy that lifted them out of irrelevance.

  2. No idea if this is the right move or not, but I’m surprised they actually did it.

  3. See man, all of these COTY really ain’t shit and lose their job, usually sooner than later. Please ignore my flair

    ::looks around nervously::

  4. Good move imo, their whole offense revolved around iso ball and playing Josh Hart 40+ minutes a game.

  5. nahhhh i don’t like this at all, the Knicks achieved about as much as you can with that team

  6. Most Knicks thing ever, most successful seasons in my lifetime and they immediately fire the coach

  7. Scapegoated imo. Best Knicks team this century and he made it work with his 2 best players being defensive liabilities. They should’ve ran it back after adding one more bench piece.

  8. Hard to say it’s a correct move yet bc we don’t know who will take over but that team has outgrown Thibs. Did not expect it this soon. Expected them to give him part of next season but I’m sure Knicks fans will say it’s the correct move too.

  9. Honestly I knew this was gonna happen. Thibs style is ancient and he’s almost had 15 years of head coaching without reaching a finals.

  10. Surprised, but not totally unexpected. Thibs’ decision to overplay his starters and avoid his bench has been a problem throughout the whole season and has routinely been a topic of discussion amongst Knick fans.

    The non-New York fans who only watched them in the playoffs would think this move is ridiculous since they beat the Celtics and made the ECF. But Knicks fans know the deal.

    Honestly I love Thibs but I’m not sure he is the tactician needed to push the Knicks to the promised land.
