2. I think keeping second overall is so much better goal scoring is the hardest thing to do in the league

3. cherbyshov, and either 28th or 33rd if sj really wants first pick. and no dickinson isn't going in deal. Last time first was dealt was on draft floor '03. pens gave fla. a second/prospect to move up to one. fla. threw in a third to drop down to three. And pens got a future hall of famer m a fleury in the deal. And don't forget hawks at three could try to get to one to grab misa to pair with bedard which would be lethal.
   sj outside of dickinson has no prospect d men to move but they do have good young fwds. like cherbyshov, halttunen, musty, and picks 28, 33, and 44 as well as 2. In deal isles get some good young fwd. help and there is the misa/cherbyshov ohl connection. sj gets their d man to go with dickinson. All hypothetical at this point yet makes sense. So not gonna happen especially if isles are honed in on schaefer.

   Fair = #2, #30, Haltunnen

   Also Fair = #2, Haltunnen, Ferraro

   Less Fair but fine = #2, #33 + Musty

   Max = #2, Cagnoni

   Anything more is too much.
   Honestly, I have a feeling the Isles are going to draft Misa #1. So the Sharks should just stand pat, and they’ll likely get Schaefer anyway (imo). And if they don’t, they’re not losing anything talent-value wise taking Misa #2.

8. my armchair gm mock trade idea – the hawks trade #3 overall, #25 overall, a future 2nd rd pick (maybe #62 overall), and l.brossoit to the islanders in exchange for #1 overall and a.lee.

9. Sharks don’t need to overpay for Schaefer or anybody else. They have the most cap space, $41.7M, and can sign UFAs or trade for good D with teams that need salary cap wiggle room. Example: Sammy Girard of the Avs at $5m. He is small (5’9”, 170) but he is a good puck mover and could be on the Sharks PP1.

20. Mathieu Darche has explicitly stated that unless a team absolutely knocks his socks off with an offer, we will be staying at 1. So you can put all these “oh, sharks moving up???” Rumors to bed because they wouldn’t be willing to give up the kind of offer that we would require.

    I would love to see the Sharks put a package together to move up. I think the two trades you mocked up are interesting options but, I think it might take a bit more to get the Islanders to pull the trigger? Perhaps a 2026 2nd on top?

    What I would love to hear your thoughts on is in addition to Schaefer I really would like the Sharks to trade up to get Viktor Eklund. I am thinking our 2nd 2025 1st and our 2nd 1st in 2026 might be enough with perhaps another pick as a sweetner? What do you think? I would love to have the Eklund brothers both in teal if possible. I am having visions of Graf and Viktor on the wings and whomever we can get to center that 3rd line. If Viktor is as responsible a 200' player as his big brother that would give us one hell of a great 3rd line with significant scoring punch.

24. I see a lot of people saying “complete overpay to move up one spot” everyone is missing the point. If you want something that I’m not willing to sell you have to overpay. Why would I take face value for something that I want to keep? In my opinion all these trade scenarios aren’t enough. The trade has to START with a solid prospect and an unprotected first round pick. If that’s too much, thank you for your interest, please go kick rocks.

25. From what Mathieu Darche has stated, the Isles are planning on using the 1st pick. If he were to trade out the deal would have to "knock his socks off" It sounds like to me the offer would be at least Dickinson and 2 OA. Maybe even an unprotected 2026 1st

26. Do you think the Sharks will be bad enough to be in a position to be able to draft Verhoff next year?

28. If the Isles want Misa so bad then just draft him 1st. Sharks better not do something stupid like trading up to 1st overall.

31. SJS will have to give up Dickinson along with the 2nd overall if they want to get Darche listing. Might need more from SJS. If the Sharks are willing to give up Dickinson, 2nd, +, Darche should seriously think about making that deal

33. As an Islanders fan I'd rather see them draft Misa regardless so if they can do that plus get other pieces I'm all in.

36. The mock trade is a pipe dream. If Dickinson and the #2 isn't part of the trade, it's no-go.
