Cubs playing some good baseball and they’re looking to continue it here in the nation’s capital. One game here to start the road trip and one game here to start the series. Cubs taking on the Nationals here from Nationals Park. All right, time to look at the Cubs lineup. It’s brought to you by Benny’s Beverage Depot. Can’t find it at Benny’s. It’s probably not worth drinking. App Suzuki PCA 123 Kelly Bush Swanson 456 and then 789 Nico Justin Turner at Shaw the veteran right-hander Trevor Williams for the Nationals here tonight now 33 years old second round pick out of Arizona State back in 2013 you remember him in a Cub uniform in 2021 he made 12 starts so far this year 569 erra and a leadoff [Applause] walk through on that one. Ball online, two wave missed. Strike [Music] three. He strikes out the side. It’s time now for the Nationals lineup brought to you by Ford. Abrams Wood low 123. Garcia Jr. Bell Hassel Jr. 456. Ruiz Tana and Lyall 789. [Music] Kate Horton, three starts, four appearances in a 398 RA for the hardth throwing right-hander. So the walks have not been an issue here. Out to right center field and it’s a leadoff single for CJ Abrams. Runners off throw down to second. CJ Abrams his 11th stolen base. Three games with nine runs. The call strike here against James Wood. And for James Wood, he strikes out looking. It’s an 89 mph change up. Horton stuff will play well against lefties. Hit to third. Shaw to first. Two outs. The pitch line drive left field. That’s a base hit for Luis Garcia Jr. Abrams scores. It is one to nothing Washington here with the [Applause] first. Runners off. Kelly fires down to second. Better throw. And this time he got him. Luis Garcia Jr. caught stealing. Carson Kelly. Great throw. Perhaps How high up we are. Bush out to right field and Michael Bush puts one in fair territory. Michael Bush heads to second. Michael Bush rounds second. Michael Bush to third and Michael Bush with a leadoff triple. [Music] like uh had a little problem with it out in right field and BCH taking full advantage making it all the way to third base. I don’t know if they’re going to go triple or double on an error here. 02. Dansby hits it to center. Hassel Jr. back shy of the warning track. Makes the catch, but it’s well deep enough to score Michael Bush. He touches home. Sacrifice fly for Danby. And we’re tied up at one here in the second. And now a four pitch walk. Draft runners off. Tapper to first. And it’s off the glove of Bush. And down the right field line. Dana stops at third to second. Lyle. Now the Nationals in business here in the third. [Applause] Bob just eats Michael up into second. Nico to first out for a run. Tana scores and the Nationals regain the lead. It’s two to one. Horton fires. Air to left. App towards the line. Makes the catch. Runner tags up. throw home. It’s a good one, but it’s just a little bit [Applause] late. Zack Fly James Wood, RBI number 45 for him. It’s 3 to1 Nationals. L is a plus runner and he needed every bit of it. He had makes a real nice throw here. His momentum taking him towards the stands. He’s able to get square towards home and get off a pretty good throw with that head first slide in ahead of the tag. How close that ball come to hitting you, Taylor? Well, good thing there’s a net. Here comes PCA to second. The throw. It’s late. Wheels from PCA. Lead off double here in the fourth. [Applause] Let’s take another look at PCA. And this double is brought to you by Elgen Hyundai, home of the 20 year and 200,000 mi warranty on every new car. Ly earlier had a little problem in right field. This time gets off a very strong throw. Pete in ahead of the tag from Abrams. So they’re keeping an eye on him. And there he goes. No throw there. Stolen base number 20. D Crow Armstrong now the fourth fastest in Major League Baseball history with 15 homers and 20 solo bases. And here’s number 20 again. Really well timed by PCA. Williams didn’t make him stop and Ruiz had no shot at it. Just Kelly left side kicked by Tana. Oh [Applause] wow. Oh man, he changes the game. Really does. A little bit of a brain cramp there by Tana, but uh you know the PCA just causes so many issues, distractions out there in the field. I don’t know what he’s thinking though. I mean at some point you got to make that play to first base. BCH off to right field. Base hit. PCA scores on third. Carson Kelly RBI single. Michael Bush. Cubs cut their deficit in half. It’s a 3-2 [Applause] game. Bush looks like he’s about to go on a heater here. First time up triple and again a little hanging breaking ball. That sweeper is a really good pitch for Williams, but that one just didn’t do a whole lot. I from June to September. Ansby hits it out to right. Isle races back at the warning track and he makes the catch. It’ll be another sacrifice fly for Dansby Swanson. Second of the night. This one ties up the game. We’re kned up at [Applause] three. What happened? Suzuki Shaw right field. Ly back at the warning track. He can’t get it. Pelts off the wall. Shaw to second lead off double. Cubs are in business here in the fifth. leadoff double by PCA in the fourth. You’re able to take advantage of that and plate him. Let’s see what they do with this one from Matt Shaw. It’s way up above the belt and this ball just cars right into the glove of Lyall out there and right. Still no chance to make a play on Shaw. We’ve seen him do a lot of work to the right side. 1044 the opposite way. App to short. Tough play. Abrams. No throw. 3-1. Skies it to center. Hassel Jr. underneath it. Makes the catch. Shaw tags up. Throw home. It’s wide. Cubs take a 4-3 lead. Payoff. Another walk for [Applause] PCA. Carson Kelly out to right. There’s a single. Rest of the runners go station to station and the Cubs have the bases loaded. 3-2. [Applause] It is a bases loaded walk for Michael Bush. Second RBI today. Ian Hap scores. Cubs double up their lead. They’re up five to three. Nico right side base hit. Two-run score. Nico comes up again. Two-run, two out single. And the Cubs double up their lead. They’re now up seven to three. [Applause] It’s a 16game on base streak now for Nico who’s been so good with men in scoring position. And it’s exactly what I was talking about. This pitch is well off the plate and it’s ball four, but Nico would rather swing. Whacks it into right plates, too. I mean, you’re just playing to his strength with that one right there. Coupes. the 30 minutes that Kate Horton had last thrown a pitch with that lengthy top half of the inning. No ill effects there as he punches out Tana to get the bottom of the fist [Applause] on. Second strike out of the night. Second time called third strike looking. He got wood back in the first. Horton delivers. Browner to first. Bush underhands to Horton for a one two three inning. umpire. That’s another two-w walk game for P. Cro Armstrong and he’s off for 21. Throw down to second. He gets solar base number 21. Not even close. Swing and a miss. Strike three. Third strike out of the night for Kate Horton comes on the breaking pitch. Little pretty solid hitter as really Bell will turn around and bat right-handed against the lefty Kale of the field bar. Josh Bell has not had much success at all against left-handed pitching. Grounded to third. Shaw picks it to second for one to first. It’s a double play. Cubs have quite a new third baseman. Shaw to Nico to Bush. Look at this pick. Great throw. Great turn. Seven to three comes [Applause] lead. Bush out to right center field. Lyle back to the track at the wall. It’s gone. Michael Bush solo homer. Three for three with a homer, a triple, and a single. Ninth of the year. It’s 8 to3 Cubs. This home run replay is brought to you by Toyota, the official vehicle of the Chicago Cubs. A no doubter center cut fast ball at 94 miles an hour. Michael jumps all over it and he is heating up big time here in the bottom of the six. Swing and a miss. Strike [Applause] three. I think that’s where he intended to leave that breaking pitch. Get the result. He was hoping for the pitch. Flare out towards short. Swanson back. What a catch. Oh, Dansby. So [Applause] [Music] smooth. Henness on. Now the veteran left-hander. Spent most of the season at AAA in the Mets organization. down at Syracuse. A handful of appear, excuse me, of appearances with the Mets. This is number two in a Cub uniform. In the air, shallow center, long run PCA makes the catch. Good last year. Right back to short. Swanson to first. It’s a one-twoing for Hannes Cabrera. Help coming from Thebar Cabrera and now Presley to finish the ball game. Ground ball. There’s Presley underhands the first. Cubs win. Nice start to the road trip in the district. Sing the song at home. Go Cubs go. Cubs eight Nationals three.

  1. PCA is the 2nd player since 1906 to have 15 homeruns, 15 doubles, and 20 stolen bases in the 1st 60 games of the season. The other being barry Bond's father, Bobby in 1973.

  2. Heck of an every day lineup the Cubs have put together. PCA is making his mark on the league this season. A really strong infield, and winning a whole bunch of games.

  3. This is easily my favorite Cubs team I've watched & I've been watching since the late 90's there's something insanely special about this team & PCA playing like arguably the best player in baseball makes it so fun & we're doing all of this without a good Turner & missing Imanaga & Steele is insane.
