MLB LIVE🔴 Texas Rangers vs St. Louis Cardinals – Jun 1, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO
Hello baseball fans and welcome. MLB the show has inner league action for you this afternoon. It’s the St. Louis Cardinals and the Texas Rangers. All right, we’ll be back to get this one started after this. So, just about set now and pitching here today, Tyler Mi. What should we keep an eye on here? Well, he’s been a real quality starter for his club. And coming into this one, what stands out for me is that right-handed hitters have really struggled batting below 200 on the year. It seems They have a hard time picking up his release point and tracking the ball into the zone. So, we’ll see how right-handers do against him in this one. Swing and a miss and a count. One and two. Two strikes. Swanging a ball lined out towards center. And there’s one away. Here’s a Cardinal lineup now. And perhaps part of the game plan is to get into the bullpen as early as possible. They’re facing a staff that’s blown a lot of games in the later innings. Bug and his hitters, you’re aware of that, but you don’t want to become too relaxed in way too late in the ball game because you never know what could happen on any given day. But with that said, even if you fall behind early, you’ve got a lot of confidence that this game will not be over until that final out. Pitch misses inside. Ball two. Two ball. One out. Space is empty. Fought off foul. [Music] And there’s a ball. He’s great hitting the ball the other way. And that pitch did a good job to straighten him up a bit. Mission accomplished. And he hits a ground ball right side. Throws to first. Two up, two down. Batting third, the second baseman, Brendan Donovan. Two down, base is empty. Now it’s the second baseman, Brendan Donovan. Ground ball right side. Simeon toss over to first. St. Louis goes down in order. Redbirds down quietly. And now the Rangers will get their shot in a scoreless ball game. It’s Major League Baseball on the [Applause] show back at Globe Life Field. And for the Cardinals here this afternoon, it’s Miles Michael. Well, coming into this game, hitters are batting under 250 against this starting pitcher. So, it just shows you how effective he’s been. He’s been able to move his pitches around, add and subtract, change up the look so that hitters don’t get too comfortable and start squaring up the baseball. We’ll see what he’s got this one. We go to the bottom of the first now. It’s the DH Josh Smith. [Applause] Swing and a ball popped up. win up one down batting second. And now we take a look at the Rangers lineup. Singing. This righty heavy lineup is a bit unusual against a right-handed pitcher. Yeah, Boo. Certainly bucks the old conventional wisdom, and I’m not sure I see the vision from the manager on this one. You’re not exactly putting your players in the best situation to succeed when you roll out a lineup like this. Maybe they’ve seen something on video that tells them there’s a weakness to exploit. Perhaps that’s it. He was a little out front, but did a good job keeping the hands back long enough to foul that pitch off. Got him swinging. Slider got him for a strike three. Well, when you throw the same pitch back to back, that’s how you want to do it. Set him up in the strike zone, then extend a little bit from there and see if you can get him to chase. Nicely done with the slider right there. Here’s Cory Seager. all sliders so far in this at bat to get ahead in the count and clearly shows there was a game plan in mind for how to attack him in the box and now it’s filled up. Caught a break right there. Pretty good pitch on the outside corner. Fouled off again and it remains three and two. Two out. Bases empty. [Music] That’s out to center field. Makes the grab on the run. And that is that. One, two, three. Go the Rangers. We played an inning. No score. New inning getting started now. Up for St. Louis. Wilson Contrus. Contras. on the outside corner. Got him looking. That is it. And now it’s Ivon Herrera. Herrera. One down. Base is empty. Just missed. on the ground and he takes it himself for the out. Batting six, the third baseman Nolan Aronado. Two outs. Space is empty. And now Nolan Aronado late with the swing there. So far all we’ve seen in this at bat are fast balls. Look for him to slow it down right here ahead in the count. Outside and the count is two and two. The only adjustment he needs to make is his target. If you aim at the outside corner, that slider’s going to end up way off the plate. Perhaps look a little more down the middle and you get it right where you want it. This one in the air center field. Langford brings it in for the third out. We’ll go to the bottom of the second. No score. ready to go for the last half of the game. Here’s Josh Young, third baseman, taking high in the draft. He’s had that top prospect label over him since he put on a professional uniform. But at some point that starts to go away and you’ve got to produce at the big league level. Swings through that and it’s a strike out. One away. Well, he didn’t get the call on the mound the pitch before. Felt like he should have had it looking, I think. But, you know, that’s good composure right there. He found a way to come back with another good pitch to get him to swing and miss. Alejandro Ozuna the next to hit. Line drive and foul ball. And it’s fouled off. They’ll do it again. Second inning here. No score. [Music] And Kenny Jansen punches him out. That’s a strike out. Off to a strong start, Singy, as he’s punched out three of the first five he’s faced. Well, he’s definitely minimizing contact. He can get the swing and miss when he needs it, but he’ll also keep the defense fresh behind him, allowing some balls in play as well. Nukebar puts it away and that is that. No runs, no hits, no errors. We play two full, no score. Onto the third inning. And now the right fielder, Jordan Walker. Number 18, Jordan Walker. Good played appearance there. Able to take the walk and that’s how they get their first base runner of the game. Man, that’s a tough one to take on the full count, but I guess he saw it really well. It’s a really nice plate appearance. Checks over to first back safely. At the plate, Pedro Pah. This one in the air. Simeon carous and there’s one down. Bad enough. The center fielder number 11, Victor Scott. Victor Scott digs in now. Singing. You got to appreciate a guy who’s this good defensively. I mean, watching him track balls in the outfield, it is beautiful. And a pitch. Ground ball right side. Could be two. Spin throw. That’s one to first. Not in time. Great effort there. Now batting leftielder Lars Nbar. So the batting order turns over and stepping in for the Cardinals, Lars Nbar. Two and one now. Runner takes off. Strike in there. Save at second. And that was not close. Top of the third, no score. And that one misses up and in. And the count’s full. [Music] Twins and misses. It’s a strike out. Couldn’t catch up to the heater. No runs, no base hits, no errors, and a runner left. We move on to the bottom of inning number three. We’re tied nothing. Nothing. [Applause] Set for the bottom of the third. Now here is Garcia. Garcia. Next offering in the dirt. Two balls in a strike. Highf fly ball near the pole. That one is foul. Good solid contact right there. Just a bit out in front of that fast ball. Got to try to stay on that backside just a little bit longer and see if you can do some damage. Swings and misses. He’s notched four strikeouts. Really love sequence right there. I’m telling you what, pitcher and catch are on the same page right now. Here is Marcus Simeon. One down, base is empty. That one fouled off. [Music] swing and a ground ball the middle. That’s a base hit. So they get a man aboard with a one out single. Well, they found himself behind in the count right there, but he didn’t give in. Timing on the swing was good. Able to shoot the ball up the middle. Didn’t square it up as much as he probably would have liked, but that’s a good approach paying off. Next up for Texas, Kyle Hagashioa. Simeon runs. The one-1 is fouled off. Fights that one away. Still one and two. [Music] Got it. He picks up his fifth strike out on the hill. Oh, nothing too fancy on the strikeout pitch right there. Just a low 90s fast ball. And I’m not sure he was trying to challenge him, but that’s pretty much what happened. Very hitable location, but he found a way to just get it by him. Josh Smith stepping in for the Rangers and a foul ball. Simeon the runner at first with two gone. Got him. And that’s six Ks for him in this one. One hit, one left. Three innings complete. No score. as we go to the top of the fourth now for St. Louis. Mason Win gets a piece there. We’ll do it again. And that skips in the dirt. He should get a pretty good pitch to hit here with the three-hole hitter coming up if he’s walked. Now fly ball to right center. Garcia sizes this one up and there’s one away. Now batting second base Brendan Donovan next up for the Cardinals. Chris baseball today so many strikeouts and they are available to pitchers but this is a guy that puts the bat on the ball. There’s a swing and a drive. Did one hops off the wall. Should be extra bases. Relay throw to second. Not going to get him. He’s in there. Couldn’t have timed it up any better than that. Nice line drive to the pull side. met it out front but just stayed through it nice enough and ripped it into the outfield. Now let’s see if they can put up the first run of the game. So the go-ahead run in scoring position. Here’s Contrarus now. [Applause] [Applause] [Music] strikes him out for the second time today. Definitely made him chase a little bit out of his own right there. I don’t think that’s a strike if he takes it. Pretty textbook pitching. Get ahead in the count. Get the guy in the box on his heels and then force him to chase your pitch where he doesn’t have much of a chance to do any damage. And now here is Ivonne Herrera. [Music] Next offering upstairs, two outs. So now two on and two outs. Well, a breaking ball in that 3-2 count kind of tells you that that’s the pitch he has the most confidence in right now. Just couldn’t find the strike zone. Here’s Nolan Aronado. He’s been such a good hitter with runners in scoring position. Some guys just take it to another level. For him right now at the plate, it’s like everyone else is in slow motion and he’s in full speed. The one is cut on and missed to the pitch upstairs. swing it a ground ball, tosses to first and they get Aronado for the out and he has thrown four shut out innings. So, the Cards strand a couple, still no score. And welcome back to the ballpark. Here’s the center fielder, Wyatt Langford. Langford, the 1-1. They had a foul ball. [Music] Next one in the dirt two [Applause] fans. Another and that’s three straight strikeouts. Just absolutely rolling on the mound. He’s looking very much on his game in the early parts of this. Fully on the attack with these hitters. That’s seven strikeouts already. So, he’s got a good pace going, no doubt. One down. Base is empty. Ball. Two balls. One strike. That misses the zone. Three and one. Base is empty. One away. We’re here in the bottom of the fourth. That’s ball four. Tried another fast ball but missed the spot. I don’t think he really wanted to pitch to him right there anyhow. Basement number six. And next will be the cleanup hitter, Josh Young. Turned on, but that’s foul down the third baseline. Man at first, one [Music] away. Cuts and misses. It’s a strikeout. He had him out in front, which isn’t easy to do against a hitter like this known for using the entire field. Just couldn’t sit back long enough on that one. And the batter now, Alejandro Ozuna. Ground ball up the middle. And that one handled. Got him on the offbalance throw. And the inning is over. Rangers leave one and we are still scoreless. Back in Arlington. Ready now for the fifth inning. The batter now Jordan Walker. Jordan Walker. swing and a tapper that rolls foul [Music] and that misses. Now two and two. That’s good pitch there. Really had some run and finished little up and end just on the edge and that’s one of those if you swing at it. He had a broken bat as you jog back to the dugout. pitches in the dirt. Three and two now. Cut on and lifted in the air. Garcia really on his horse for this one. Won’t get to this one. It drops foul. It’s a leadoff walk and that’s the go-ahead run. Second walk of the game for him and he’s been really patient at the play. A game plan that he’s sticking to. He’s just not going outside of what he’s looking for up there. And up next for St. Louis, Pedro Pahes. [Applause] Next pitch, a slider that misses outside. [Applause] Here goes the runner. And that is out of play. [Applause] Next offering miss is down and away. So here we go. Base runner at first could be running on the pitch. He’s got good enough speed to steal the bag to get in scoring position. Even if it’s a swing and miss at the plate. [Applause] Got him. Make it four strikeouts for him on the bump today. Victor Scott next up for the [Applause] Cardinals. One-1 now late on that fast ball. This guy absolutely flies. The defense wants to turn two, but they’ve got to get a ball they can do it with. Make sure you get the first out before you try to rush and get two and end up with nothing. Just off the inside corner. The countdown two and two. Bullpen action for the Rangers. Jack Lighter preparing to come on if needed. Web also getting ready. Walker the base runner at first with one out. That wasn’t an easy pitch to hit. It’s much easier to do damage against mistakes, but that’s not what that pitch was. Full count. Strike three and that’s two in a row. Boo. If you can set up a good two strike splitter with a fast ball on the previous pitch, that’s going to be so tough to recognize and adjust your swing to get a piece of it. Clearly Adam had him reaching for it right there. Here’s the left fielder. Lars Newbar. The 3-1. Rudder takes off. Pitch in for a strike. Go to second. Ow. And that’ll end the inning. Well, trying to get in the scoring position, but a great catch and throw to end the inning. That’s the way to pick up the pitcher. And we’re back. We get to the bottom of the fifth. Digging in, Jake Burger. Burger. Hard grounder into the outfield for a knock. man aboard on the leadoff single. Dominant performance for him today. Boo. Just two hits allowed so far. No runs across either. And he’s had an answer for just about every hitter he’s faced. So I don’t think this hit is going to knock him off his stride too much. Now batting Adole Garcia stepping in for the Rangers. Garcia. and one and two with two strikes. May see some movement over there at first base. Trying to stay out of the double play right here. Two two runner at first with no outs here. [Applause] That one misses three and two. They tried to get him to go chase the pitch down and away, but he wouldn’t bite and ball forward to a board. about a great back and forth and that at bat and play off some really close pitches and somehow he found a way to keep the bat on his shoulder right there. I’ll tell you right now I couldn’t have done it. Now it’s Marcus Simeon. [Applause] Hot shot to third. Aronado to second and two. What a play. They made that double play look so easy but it was far from routine. That’s the one thing about big leagers. They make tough plays. Look simple. Yoka. So the go-ahead run in scoring position. Kashioka getting ready to hit. There’s the strike. [Applause] fights it off. You’ll see another. Burger on third with two out. [Applause] Swings and misses. Struck him out. Well, this guy competes hard. We see the emotion there. I love it. Great job getting out of the jam. We’re back and they make a change to start the sixth. The new pitcher, Jack Lighter. Well, he’s been hit pretty hard at times this season as you see with the big RA. So, this is an important outing for him to get on the right track. Late swing fouled to the left. That one way inside. Straighten him up a little bit. Two strikes. [Music] That’s to third. Young tosses to first. Leadoff man retired in the six. Now batting shortstop Mason win. And the batter will be the shortstop. Mason win. All tied up. And we’re the top half of the sixth. Hit in the air center field. Langford under it and he makes the catch and there are two outs. Hey man, four pitches, two outs. That is an excellent base. Brendan Donovan. Next up for the Cardinals. Two down to that one outside. Two and one. Just missed. That one lifted to left. Ozuna drops into the glove and that’ll do it. Offense held in check there. Top of the order. D up in the home half of the six. And we still have no score. Back at Globe Life Field. John Shampi with Chris Singleton in the booth. And leading off the bottom of the sixth, Josh Smith. swings through that one out in front that time. Action in the pen down there. Kyle Ley getting loose out there. King warming up as well. Swing and a ball lifted in the air. Shallow left field. Makes the catch for the out. Now batting the center fielder Wyatt Langford. Up next for the Rangers. Wyatt Langford. Base is empty. One away here in the bottom of the sixth. out there to center. Scott tracks it down for the out. They trust him in center field because he’s capable of making plays on the run. And we saw it right there. That’s a player you want patrolling center field. Someone who can attack the ball off the bat. Swing and a miss. It really looks like these hitters have been in between with their timing today. Good fast ball, excellent slider, but they’ve not been able to commit to one velocity and stay there. Handles, throws to first out number three. And the Rangers set down in order. And we’re still knotted at zero. And welcome back to the ballpark. And up to hit is Wilson Contraras. One ball. The one two comes up empty as he chases that one in the dirt. Higashi collects, fires to first, gets him one away on a drop third strike. Well, obviously that was nowhere near the strike zone by the time it got to the plate. And people at home watching are thinking, “What’s he swinging at?” But I’ll tell you, some of the break guys snap off these days is just devastating. It can be so tough to recognize where a pitch like that’s going to end up. Ivon Herrera will hit next. One down. Base is empty. Strike on the inside corner. [Applause] goes down looking. Frustrating end to the at bat for the hitter and I’m sure that’s going to sit on her for a little while. You want to be ready to hit the fast ball. Sometimes you can overthink things and I think that was the case right there. Two down, nobody on here in the top half of inning number seven. So, a foul ball makes it one and two. And that’s in the dirt. And that’s off the inside edge. And now three and two. Swing and a miss. Struck him out. And he strikes out the side in the seventh. Now pitching. We’re back in a new pitcher here to start the bottom of the seventh, Kyle Ley. And compared to a lot of other relievers, strikeouts have not been a big weapon for him this year. So, the defense should be active. Now, the third base, the third baseman, Josh Young. Well, these Rangers just lacking discipline at the plate in this ball game. They’ve been chasing pitches outside the zone all game and it’s led to some frustrating moments. They’ve been fooled quite a bit today. Still two and two after the foul ball. That one missed. line drive caught. That’ll drive you crazy as a hitter if you let it. I mean, he could have hit that ball more in the screws than he did and yet he’s got nothing to show for it. Hang with him. I know the feeling. Next to hit, Alejandro Ozuna. Let’s go. got him swinging. Well, we see it a lot more these days than we ever did when I played, but a slider in the 90s still catches your attention even if you’re sitting on the pitch. Good luck recognizing that tight spin and adjusting to the late break. And now it’s Jake Burgerer to [Music] hit that one fouled off. Two and two. Two outs. Spoils a two- strike pitch. And he’ll see another. [Music] 3-2. Now, Adoleis Garcia in the deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here. swing at a high-fly ball that’s out to center. Scott makes the grab and that’s the inning. Back in Arlington. Now it’s the right fielder Jordan Walker. Leading off for St. Louis, the right fielder Jordan [Applause] Walker. Swinging a drive deep right field on the move. Racing back and caught on the warning track. Well, those can be pretty fun as an outfielder. got to put it into his highest gear and go a long way to track that one down. Nothing better than that. You feel like a wide receiver playing football. All tied up and we’re in the top of the eighth. Swing and a high-fly ball left field. Langford sizing this one up. Snags it for the second half. Now that the center fielder, Victor Victor Scott next up for the [Applause] Cardinals on a line base hit. Everything came together for him. Really good swing right there. He got a pitch that he knew he could handle. allowed himself to stay back just a tad bit longer and he hit the ball on the screws. And now a chance to maybe get creative on offense with good speed on first. And stepping in for the Cardinals, Lars Nuke and that one fouled off. Throw to first. Scott back in on a dive. [Applause] The kick and the pitch. Runner goes in the air to left center. Langford on the move. Makes the grab and that’s the third out. [Applause] Now pitching back now. New pitcher on the mound as we roll into the bottom of the eighth. John King. This softball has been really good against left-handed hitters. Adoleis Garcia now at the plate. The right fielder. until Josh hit slowly on the ground. Quinn and that’s one away as the leadoff man is out in the eighth. Good late bite on that slider. Got the hitter out front. Rolled over on it. Exactly what he was supposed to do. So digging in Marcus Simeon. One down. Base is empty. Line drive. Base hit. [Applause] Well, they call that an advantage count for a reason. So much more likely to get something you can handle. You often hear the phrase short to it, long through it. And that’s a great example of it right there. They got the barrel in the hitting zone early, squared it up with a welltimed swing and came away with a beautiful line drive into center field. Stepping in Kyle Higashio Simeon runs swing and a miss. Throw a second tag and they got him. Well, I think that was a hit and run right there. When you look at how far that pitch was out of the zone and the hitter still trying to put wood on it, put it in play, that tells you that they had something going. But unfortunately, it was a good job of execution by the pitcher and the catcher to get that out of the zone and then throw out the runner at second base. Really nice job behind the ditch. That one almost got him. Up the middle and that chance handled on the run. Throw to first and that’s a nice play to end the inning. No runs, one hit, no errors, and no one left. Through eight full and we still have no score. Now pitching. Welcome back. And here comes the closer Jackson coming on to face a righty here. And he’s been fantastic against him this year. His numbers in those matchups are very good. Now up for St. Louis. Mason win. Looks like Mason win and a swing and a miss and a strike out for the first out here in the ninth. Just a great slider right there. And I think the key for pitchers and what hitters don’t want to see is if a pitcher misses with that pitch that he misses off the edge of the strike zone rather than in the middle of the strike zone. And right there, excellent execution and it finished up in a perfect spot. just missed. Liner count at second. It’s never fun going back to the dugout after hitting the line drive that finds a glove. But you will get some high fives. You know, when you make great contact, you feel like you’ve done everything right. But in this game of baseball, not everything is in your control. Here’s a two-1. Ball three. Meanwhile, activity in the bullpen. Cole Wind getting ready to go. Bosley getting loose as well. Two down, nobody on here in the top of the ninth. [Applause] And that’s ball four. One of the things about that two out walk, the base runner over at first base is going to have a very aggressive secondary lead. So a ball down the line or into the gap will produce a two out RBI and those are the best. That is if you are the offensive side of it. The 2-1 and fouled off. [Applause] on the ground to third. They get the force and that is that. So no runs, no hits, no errors and one left on. To the bottom of the ninth we go. Top of the order, do up, no score. And we’re back. And now the DH Josh Smith. [Applause] Bounding ball here. Rolls. Foul. Two. Two down. And that skips into the movement in the bullpen. Sunny Gray up and throwing. in the air, left field, down the line, hops over the wall, and that’s an automatic double. The automatic double kind of feels like enjoying cruise control in your car, Dave. You don’t need to keep the pedal down as you cruise into second base. Just no worries in the world. You know what? He put a really good swing on that one. So, next to hit for Texas, Wyatt Langford. The winning run on second base. Two-1 in the dirt, but kept close. And an excellent job keeping it right there. Winning run out second. No one out. Tap foul at the plate. Two two on the way on the ground right side and it’s just fouled. That was close. [Applause] [Applause] winning run stands at second. [Applause] Swing and a miss. Struck him out. And Chris, that’s a way to neutralize his speed by keeping him off balance. And the defense brings a sigh of relief because he puts pressure on everyone if he can put the ball in play. But that’s how you do it. Keep him off balance. Get him out of there and deal with the next guy. And here’s Cory Seeker to hit. This guy’s got good power with one swing. You can win it for him. The shorts stop takes the ball. [Applause] Yeah, that’s fouled off. [Applause] Man at second. Keeps the bat going with a foul ball. Definitely got the hitter conscious of the pitch inside. Really think the outer half is open just outside. Three balls, two shots. Good spot there, but didn’t get the strike at the knees and doesn’t seem too convinced by the call out there on the mound as he tries to get a better sense of the umpire strike [Applause] zone. Foul. We’ll see another payoff pitch. [Music] [Applause] Ball four. He walked in and that keeps things going. He’s making things difficult for himself right now. But, you know, his confidence should still be high enough to get out of this, but he’s going to have to buckle down right here. Here comes the manager out of the dugout and he’ll make a move for the bullpen. John King departs and it’s a tie ball game as he heads for the dugout. Back with a new arm after a quick break. Now pitching. New pitcher for the Cardinals, Sunny Gray. And he’s been racking up strikeouts at a high rate this year. Typically at least one in innings, so he’ll be tough to get to. [Applause] Josh Young stepping in for the Rangers. Oh, how he’d love to walk it off right [Applause] here. Two on, one out. Lined and that’s a base hit. Throw comes in quickly and a winning run at third now with only one gone. The first move felt like a bit of a guess. You have to be right in those spots or things can get away from you awfully quickly. [Applause] So bases all loaded up. Next up for Texas, Alejandro Ozuna. The 1-1 tapped at the plate, but it’s a foul ball. So they’re all loaded up. And a ball evens a count. Homeplayed umpires try to tighten things up a little bit. [Applause] waves at the bender for the strike out. Got to give him a huge amount of credit on the mound right there. Got squeezed a little bit on the pitch right before that one. You know, it should have been a strike. Everyone in the building knew that it should have been a strike, but he didn’t let it get to him and throw him off his game. came back with another good pitch for the punch out with the bases loaded. That’s good pitching right there. Up next for the Rangers, Jake Burgerer trying to send this extra innings. That one back up the middle and it gets through. Acrosses the winning run. A walk-off win in the bottom of the ninth. [Applause] Well, you’re coming to the ninth inning. It’s a tie ball game. No one really wants to play extras. So, everyone’s looking at how we can get this game over with in regulation. Well, they got the run they needed. Put one up and they put one in the win column. [Applause] [Applause] [Applause] And a one- nothing final score here in this one for Chris Singleton and our entire crew. I’m John Shambi saying so long. What the move?
