What are the Steelers doing? Those are the questions. Here come the answers. Let’s go. [Applause] I’m going to tell you right now, you can I’m going to tell you right now, you can see we got a jam-packed house today. I’m keeping Louiswis and RC in the basketball conversations. We will not have a more dramatic night in the NBA the rest of the way. No matter what happens, I’m not taking a break for 20 minutes. Put your feet up. I’m ready to go. Wendy is up with us early this morning as well with all of the insight. Let’s get this thing rolling at the Garden last night. Allen was there. Monica was there. Knicks and Pistons. Knicks a chance to wrap up a series at Knicks a chance to wrap up a series at home for the first time in this millennium. Three and a half minutes to go in the fourth. Knicks down three. Not anymore. Carl Anthony Towns were tied at 95. Now here’s the critical possession. Detroit’s got the ball. Kade Cunningham. I don’t mind. Going to dish for Jaylen Duran. But we got injuries galore for the Knicks. Allan, we got Josh Hart and we’ve got Jaylen Brunson both banged up. Hart has a hard fall. Jaylen Brunson on previous defensive possession tweaked that right ankle that had been bothering him. We see it right there. And on that him. We see it right there. And on that possession that you saw Hart go down, Brunson was limping. That’s not a good look for the Knicks. This is could be a look for the Knicks. This is could be a turning point of the series. They’re both off the floor until the next stoppage of play. I’ll say that again. Until the next stoppage of play. It’s a two-point game when Kate Cunningham gets denied, but Doran is there and the Pistons take a four-point lead. Next Pistons possession, there still hasn’t been a stoppage. It’s Cunningham. The Pistons a six-point lead. There still hasn’t been a stoppage. The Knicks with an offensive possession. They don’t call the timeout. Well, you got to hit this, right? Hit that. They take an incredibly quick shot. Foul somebody. They still don’t commit a foul. You’ve got the two guys standing at the scorers table. In all, about a minute and a half of game all, about a minute and a half of game time goes by. While they’re just standing there, finally with 30 seconds left after the layup, the Knicks are able to get their Stars back in with 27 able to get their Stars back in with 27 seconds remaining and the lead is now six. Tom Fibido can’t believe it. It ultimately stays that way and the Pistons get the win 106 103. They force a game six. To summarize, Brunson and Hart were not in the game for a 2 minute Hart were not in the game for a 2 minute and 30 second stretch late in the fourth quarter. When they left, it was a two-point game. When they returned, it was six points. It was a 6-2 run. Here was six points. It was a 6-2 run. Here was Tom Thibido afterwards on not getting his guys back in. when you had uh Jaylen and Josh there on the scores table waiting to check get in. Um what was the thought process of not calling a timeout or not getting them back in the game as that lead kind of went up? Just where we were with our timeouts. Coach’s decision. Coach’s decision are the clear most important words there. And obviously when you’re the coach, you’re going to get your decisions parsed like cra your words parsed and your decisions dissected and that’s what’s going to happen. Winman, let’s start with you. What is your reaction to the way the final two and a half minutes played out at the Garden last night? Well, first off, acknowledgement to Kate Cunningham. He had 13 fourth quarter points. He made this game go in the Pistons way. However, uh Jaylen Brunson is the clutch player of the year. This series is three was was 3-1 because of Jaylen Bun Brunson’s brilliant play offensively down the stretch and to not have him for three possessions. Three missed Nick shots basically decided the game. The reason Tibido did that he he had two timeouts left. He had to take one of them to get Josh Hart out of the one of them to get Josh Hart out of the game. Josh Hart is laying on the court. They’re playing five on four. So then he’s down to one timeout and he’s behind. You need the timeout to advance the ball. It was a strategic decision. It’s not a catastrophic coaching move, but it’s a strategic decision that he lost on. It’s kind of like what happened with JJ Reic playing all five starters in the second half. He he gambled and lost with the with the Lakers the other day. This was a gamble that that Tibs made. It went against him. Um he did have a foul. The Knicks had a foul to have a foul. The Knicks had a foul to give here. They could have gone that route. At one point, Deuce McBride looked like he tried to foul, but this choice ended up being unfortunately the difference in the game in my opinion. Monica, you do the Knicks radio. You’re with them every single day. You’re there last night. What did you see? What’s your reaction? Well, I think to question the foul in that 2:30 stretch is fair, but the bigger one to me was the one to but the bigger one to me was the one to get those guys off the floor because Tom Tibido is such an ex x’s and those guys Tibido is such an ex x’s and those guys and wants to be in the best position possible down the stretch in this series. F timeouts have been hugely important. Challenges have been hugely important. So, I understand why he didn’t call it in that moment. It also was a right right corner three, which is Muel Bridges’s muddy shot. And so I think you had a real hope that that was think you had a real hope that that was going to hit. You were going to get a going to hit. You were going to get a natural stoppage in play and you’d have a chance to get your guys in. It doesn’t a chance to get your guys in. It doesn’t play out that way. But Greeny, even despite that, they still gave themselves a chance once those guys got back on the a chance once those guys got back on the floor. And you could really feel missing that timeout when Jaylen Brunson nearly stole the ball on with 5.4 to go, I stole the ball on with 5.4 to go, I believe, versus the Pistons and had to just fling it up because there were no more timeouts. Alan, what’s fair is fair. Mariano Rivera was left in the bullpen. That’s what that’s what happened here. The best closer in the game was standing on the sideline helpless, not able to help his team. But as Monica said, they got good looks. They got good shots. You traded for male Bridges. You traded for Kyle Anthony Towns so that Jaylen Brunson doesn’t have to carry the offense all the time. They had opportunities. Three shot. No, he he would not have a good game. That’s he he would not have a good game. That’s another story. But we know though when it’s crunch time, he turns it on even when he’s having a bad game. He played only five minutes in the fourth quarter. He took four shots. He was one for four. He took four shots. He was one for four. But the one shot he took was an M1 that But the one shot he took was an M1 that that got they were right there. But the two Bridges shots that he missed and he had a great fourth quarter. Bridges did, but not there. Two open shots that he should have made missed. Towns has a bad miss against Tobias Harris down low. You traded for these guys so you wouldn’t have to rely on Brunson. But in this moment, you relied on them. They did not come through. And now they got to play a come through. And now they got to play a game six that they did not want to play. game six that they did not want to play. And as much as this is scrutinized, and rightfully so, to Wendy’s point, K Cunningham, that was a masterclass for him in the fourth quarter, but also Jaylen Duran had 14 rebounds and comes up with a huge rebound in that stretch to get a put back for the Pistons. Looks to get a put back for the Pistons. Looks crazy. In order for these things to go the way In order for these things to go the way they do, so many factors obviously are involved. But at the end of the day, if involved. But at the end of the day, if you want to be an NBA head coach, and I you want to be an NBA head coach, and I just said the exact same thing about JJ Reic yesterday, it’s not that what he did made no sense. There’s nothing that drives me crazier watching sports than when coaches do things that cannot be explained. What he did can be explained. There was a logical reason behind it. Wendy laid it all out. That’s the job of Wendy laid it all out. That’s the job of the coach. You make the decision in real time. But don’t we have to look at circumstance, too, though? This isn’t the same thing as JJ Reic, right? JJ JJ the same thing as JJ Reic, right? JJ JJ Reic made a decision to say, “I’m going to play everybody for the entire second half.” You can’t control Jaylen Brunson getting hurt. You can’t control Josh Hart getting hurt. And so now you’re trying to make these decisions in a reactionary place as a coach. And like Monica said, it was about trying to keep that time out. And so you want that timeout because we all know they play so big in playoff situations. And so to sort of like criticize him and say that this is the reason that you lost the game, I believe it’s unfair. You lose games when your best player, your best closer, one of the most clutch players in basketball gets injured in the fourth quarter. I think that’s as much a piece of this as not getting them back. He couldn’t play. He could have gotten him back in the game and he made the conscious decision again not to. There are two means by which he can do it. He are two means by which he can do it. He can commit a foul. They had a foul to can commit a foul. They had a foul to give. Or he can use the timeout. I understand the value of the timeout. Wendy is pointing it out. Again, I’m not saying there is no explanation for it. I’m saying as it turns out, if he had I’m saying as it turns out, if he had known it was going to go all the way to known it was going to go all the way to 27 seconds, obviously would have done it differently. You got to do something. I mean, look, I I understand the value of trying to keep a timeout, too. You’re talking about to advance the football, but Jaylen Brunson, I don’t care how many shots he missed. He is the dude, right? You got to have him on the field right? You got to have him on the field in that on the field on the court, right? Got to have him on the court. Just came out of the draft. You got to Just came out of the draft. You got to have him on the court in that situation. I don’t care if he had been 0 for 10 at I don’t care if he had been 0 for 10 at that point. He is your guy. Foul somebody. Knock somebody up into the stand so you can get him on the court. stand so you can get him on the court. And I’ll tell you what, you live and you And I’ll tell you what, you live and you die with him. I don’t, you know, Muel Bridges. I mean, I like him too. He’s a Bridges. I mean, I like him too. He’s a Villanova grad. My daughter graduated from Villanova just like the rest of these guys. So look, I’m with all of them, but Jaylen’s got to be on the court. Let’s get Whitney back in. Go win man. Yeah, I think it’s also important to point out that Tibs actually coached the way that all the Knicks fans want him to way that all the Knicks fans want him to coach in this game. He played nobody over 40 minutes. He used his bench. The crazy thing is this was Tib sort of bending to the pressure and now there’s a bunch of scrutiny on this choice which very well could have gone the Knicks way. As Monica said, Bridges has 13 points in the fourth quarter. He hits that right corner three. It changes the dynamic and then your timeout later on might be used to win the game. Well, that’s why you don’t listen to fans. This is why you do you coach it the way This is why you do you coach it the way you want to coach it. But all I’m saying you want to coach it. But all I’m saying is that that’s not why they lost. There’s a million other reasons why they lost. But you had an opportunity. I’m sorry. Say that again. They they didn’t lose because their two best players are standing are standing on the the scorers table for two minutes waiting to get back in the game. No, that’s not why they lost. They they lost because two players you traded for and gave up a lot players you traded for and gave up a lot for didn’t make shots when it mattered most. You did that. You made those trades for a reason. You lost because of that and some other reasons that happened throughout the game. However, if you can steal a game that you shouldn’t win or you were giving away or whatever it is, if you can steal it, you whatever it is, if you can steal it, you have to. And at some point as that clock have to. And at some point as that clock is ticking and you look up and you realize the ball’s not going out of bounds, we’re not getting a stoppage. I got to get these guys in. Somebody foul somebody. I want to keep my timeout. Foul somebody. Put them on the line. Something You got to do something. No, you’re absolutely right. But being there, how odd was it that this is now there, how odd was it that this is now the stretch you get with no whistles? Like based on the tenor of that game, I Like based on the tenor of that game, I kind of get it because like it’s whistles all over the place. So to not get a whistle

Did the pistons play in this game?
CADE CUNNINGHAM#2 IS A FUTURE PERENNIAL NBA MVP CANDIDATE/'FACE OF THE LEAGUE' CONTENDER ..
Or perhaps they lost cuz the pistons are good? All they talk and you barely mentioned how the pistons won. It's all about how the knicks lost.
Every time ESPN discusses this series it's always about what NY didn't do. Give the Pistons zero credit
No One Mentioned That Thompson Takes Brunson Backdoor For 20 Points……Thats The Reason The Pistons Won….
'Best part is that Cade will just get better and better and better. He can still shoot the ball at a higher percentage. He can still improve his assist to turnover ration, etc.
Detroit made a leap in the last year…wait until they do it again next season. Add that to the implosions in Philly and Milwaukee, and it should be a great 25/26 season.
Shout out to Troy Weaver for setting the table.
Let’s go Detroit pistons in 7 and when they do this playoffs finna be lit this year not go lie the knicks all banged up already I would not wanna see they playoffs next round anyway that coach need to just let Brunson and hart chill them boyz hurt and y’all see what happened to dame Brunson been favoring that leg every game he need to chill before he do something to make him not be able to play for the whole next year or the start💯💯💯 even thoo he going against my team he a good talent I dont wanna see boy mess up his career on some drose stuff ain’t no way he moving like that and nobody trying change his mins bad coaching 💯💯💯
We had a guy get his eyeball scratched, a guy fell hard asf but only the mighty flopping Knicks had injuries. Brunson is a brilliant flopper that’s for sure
The Pistons WANTED Brunson in at the end of game b/c he was such a liability on defense
Jalen Brunson is a fraud! There’s not a foul that gets called on him that if you look at the tape he’s not initiating the contact and if you really watch, he loses his footing because he’s injured and he has no base! The league has been carrying him in this series, for what, it doesn’t look good, he’s a shell of himself! Let the better team, the younger team win and stop carrying the big market Knicks!
I fell asleep waiting on a whistle.Seen like they were on the side line for eternity And when he got under a minute and they were steel was on the side line It was crazy How many times did detroit go to the free throw line Probably almost 40 We don't go playing about the Only team I know that still Find a way to come back While getting cheat it throughout the game and said I do agree. We will have stole the game If they were they came back in early enough
Why they Start playing with that clock again again But you see they start playing with that clock.
Pistons are clearly the better team and got jobbed in Game 4. Only reason they’re not is Adam Silver wants the big market to win. Sparks of ‘03-‘08 run by the DP.
Maybe the pistons kicked they ass.
I just want to know who this vietnamese kid is at the end of all these.
They were losing anyway
They spent the whole segment on what the Knicks didn't do instead of giving detroit credit and that's been the case all series win or lose by ny
Time for Thibbs to go I can look at them and tell they are tired thanks to Thibbs running them into the ground in the regular season
Oh yeah ESPN, By the way Detroit Pistons are down a starter in Jaden Ivey and oh I Forgot..and their best defensive player in Stewart, who missed the last 3 games.. let that sink in..and the Knicks have a complete Team..what about that!
Mannnnn every freaking play Brunson and Kat hooks, swipe the defender and is bailed out by a late whistle. Jalen is a very good guard but those flops take away from his creditability. Real Detroiter here… the league does the most to paint us(Detroit) like the worst and dirtest team in all the leagues.
We are here whether they like it or not…DETROIT VS ERRBODY! We taking it in 7 now what
Let's be very clear The Pistons and Knicks are fighting for the honor to get blown out by the Celtics.
Thompson⭐️Locked Brunson Down💥 Everyone Talking about The Wrong Thing Thompson⭐️Locked Brunson Down The Whole Game Shutdown That’s Why Coach Kept Brunson Out💥💯
another network that HATES ON THE PISTONS!!! Did you hear monica mcnutt whisper "I DONT LIKE CADE CUNNINGHAM" lets kick the KNICKS A@@ next 2 games DETROIT AGAINST EVERBOBY especially you Monica McNutt Go PISTONS!!!
Pistons in 7
Knicks will win game 6 go home Detroit
L😅?bridges do not show up for big shots …brunson was backdoored by Thomson the whole game
.deuce.couldnt.make.a.shot
.did.not.play.princw.achwwa..why? Dont know …and the biggest reason lousy coach
" I don't like Cade Cunningham" these clowns are pathetic
Jalen Brunson is the reason the Knickerfloppers are up 3-1 says this clown? NO the refs are the reason they were up 3-1
Making all these injury excuses for these bum ass Knickerfloppers the Pistons were without their #2 scorer Ivey and best defender Stewart
Its trumps tariffs
Knicks are a fraud, The Detroit Pistons have been the better team for the entirety of this series and should be up 3-2 right now. Doesn't matter, I've never felt more confident about Detroit winning this series, the Knicks are done. Stop talking about the Knicks, this is about the Pistons, they are the better team.
Someone on the Knicks should have fouled Thompson. They would have the chance to sub and he struggled at the free throw line.
So why are we comng from the knicks perspective when they lost the pistons won wtf
What is the point of talking about the time out. It doesn't make sense to me when they had a foul to give.
Deeeeeeeeetroit Basketballlllllll
The knick actually should've got swept by the piston they just played better.
Really nice that they have that lady from the Knicks to talk about the Knicks. I think Detroit has people too. Why didn’t they have somebody on the show like that lady except to talk about Detroit? Oh wait a minute it’s because everyone caters to New York, like anybody outside of New York even cares what’s happening in New York.
Is the league ever going to realize that most people around the country don’t care at all about anything going on in New York?
I don’t get it. There’s no way these channels get any more viewers just because they’re talking about the Knicks. Maybe just because people want to hate watch and wish all the worst things in the world on the Knicks.
Do they really think that there is a bunch of people sitting around in Alabama watching ESPN like, damn when are they going to talk about the New York Knicks?
It's a fucking joke guys. Let's go stones. Beat the Knicks. The garden. The refs. And ESPN is a joke.
Brunson might be the biggest flopper I've ever seen. Shit shit player
Surprised fools didn't say Laimbeer hit Brunson.
Diabetes gonna get windy before the Pistons get the Knicks in 7
