Reacting To Bleacher Report’s Trade Sending Derrick White To The Detroit Pistons?

so I don’t know if you saw so I was actually bored uh this past week and I I I read a lot of articles and I went down the Bleacher Report rabbit hole which it can always be dangerous and a lot of people were very up in arms with a trade proposal uh from Bleacher Report I’m going to put it on the screen for people that haven’t seen it Uh real quick give me a second Look at me technical direct and talk at the same time Man I don’t I don’t have a West I wish I I wish I had a Westman but this was kind of the trade that really got people like really up in arms So Jade Navy two first round picks for uh Derek uh White and Baylor Sherman So what was kind of like just your overall opinion with you know Pistons fans saying this was a good trade this was a bad trade or just kind of like valuing Jaden Ivy yeah I mean I understand the idea here right like Derek White is a really good basketball player right like right Dererick White is better than Jay Ivy right now Like Derrick White is really good My Here would be my immediate thought though for the Pistons specifically Anthony does Derek How does this solve the number two option for Detroit you know what I mean like is Derek White like maybe some people think Derrick White is the number two guy on a championship team um I mean in Boston he hasn’t been asked to be that guy right like it’s it’s it’s Tatum and Brown And so I guess my here’s where I would immediately go with this Okay if we’re going to do this if Detroit is going to do this Anthony then show me the plan to round out being a win next year team Because to me this move is we’re going to go title contend next year at the very worst 2627 This move would say to me Kade is ready right now which quite honestly Kade may be ready right now Like I think there’s a lot of data that says Kade is probably ready like figure out the turnovers a little bit the three-point shooting the conditioning and we’re ready to go on a title run um with him as your best player But I don’t think K Derek White Assar Duran Ron Holland is a championship contender even in a watered down Eastern Conference next year I I don’t know maybe I’m wrong but if you’re giving off of a Ivy and you’re going to give up those first round picks then what’s the other move to go get I don’t know Trey Murphy right like let’s let’s throw out Trey Murphy Okay Well what is the plan to go get Trey Murphy then so then you may actually be a title contender And some people may not like that I think Trey Murphy actually might be a number two option in this league Like now there’s health stuff which people threw at me the other day which is also very fair But you know what I mean he’s Derek White’s in his 30s already You know he just turned 30 but and so I’m not saying he’s on the downward spiral but to me this is a win right now move So then what’s the other move that actually makes Detroit a real title contender to win right now i I agree with everything you said I think from a Boston perspective this makes so much sense for them Sure Because you you don’t know what’s going to happen with Jason Tatum Jaylen Brown had a partial partial uh Torminiscus playing in the playoffs Uh I expect them to still be competitive and just kind of have like I don’t know a progression year Maybe they make the playoffs you know compete for the playin Maybe they win the lottery Who knows yeah Dallas did it Uh from a Boston perspective I know I I went on a whole podcast for I’m not even kidding you like two hours Like why hey we’ll all be okay with it if somehow we get PJ Washington for you know um you know for cheap because they can’t play Anthony Davis their two centers and Cooper Flag all they may try it like who knows maybe PJ will play point but um it it is kind of interesting real quick on this I think the Boston guys most likely to be traded are Drew Holiday and Chrisops for what it’s worth so yeah same here you look at their cap situation it’s terrible yes um but from a Boston perspective I would line to Jaden Ivy because it’s like I got my Drew Holiday replacement cuz that that’s the way I’m thinking because like he’s 35 he’s not a big deal They they probably want to move that Um for a Pistons perspective you’re absolutely right If you’re trading a guy that was a number five pick and two first that’s basically three three first round picks for a guy that is in my opinion I think he’s an elite role player that’s just a good glue guy for Boston Does he put up the same stats here in Detroit i’m not entirely sure I think the way Boston plays is like just tailored to what he does of just being a three-point shooter putting the ball on the floor and just a really good scrappy defender I don’t know if if I would do this and I and I would feel confident that you know you could put Detroit in the same conversation as the Indiana the Cleveland’s the Bostons I I I just don’t know I think they have talent I think Kate’s that guy but I think this is a little bit too much for my liking to get a a Derek White and a Baylor Sherman Yeah I mean and I think White would be a really nice fit Like he’s a great fit in the back court next to Cade because he takes all the defensive matchups He knocks down threes at a really high rate He can handle the Like I’m not trying to say he’s not a good fit in Detroit My only push back or or my biggest push back to this would be okay then what is the move forward now cuz now you’re selling out on potentially a number two option in Jaden Ivy Again you know emphasis on the word potentially right like he may not be that There’s a real world where he doesn’t become that We just talked about it If you are someone that just is saying I’m not saying you Anthony but just to people in general if you are sold if you have enough data to know right now who Jaden Ivy is and who he isn’t and you think he’s going to be a six-man off thebench guy well then this trade looks a little bit different right because now you’re trading him Even then though to go this kind of stuff especially the draft picks for Derek White or somebody else to me this is a we are ready to compete at the highest level So I want to know the other move that gets you there Like I want to know what what gets them the number two option that’s going to make them a real contender in the East I think my my my push back also is if I’m going to be giving up Jaden Ivy and two first I’d like it to be a guy that I know that can at least score me 20 points a game Sure If that’s the conversation we’re having like nothing against Derek White I I think he’s a a really good player I do Um but I I think it’s you know you have to look at Boston system too Having a Jason Tatum and a Jaylen Brown taking the ball pressure off you and you’re just kind of filling into that you know third option of you know just being a good like I I think of like when Denver had KCP and Bruce Brown like just those kinds of roles where like they had their stars and then they had a you know a third option as like a a role player to just like really be effective and be that defender be that glue guy to take the pressure off the stars That’s what I think Derek White is I I actually that’s a really good point I agree If you tell me Jay Nivey and two first round picks for a guy who I truly believe is going to go average 20 plus a game or has proven it I’m a much more palatable to that conversation right like cuz now you take the contract conversation off the table and you know you have your number two option Maybe a SAR becomes the number three offensive option Maybe Ron Holland grows into number three offensive option All of that To be clear I have said and my stance is that I wouldn’t make any of these type of moves until the deadline next year I would not I would not trade any of these young guys Jaylen Duran included okay at least until the deadline next year whenever we see some more things Keith Black Trudeau always brings it up to me and it’s a great point when I talk about it being a little bit nervous on running it back and just having all the same people and Keith always reminds me Bryce we never saw we barely saw Cade Ji Assar Harris Duran together I think it was like two games in seven minutes or something like that between Assar’s blood clots and Jay Nivey’s broken leg I’m willing to be more patient and waiting on some sort of big move because to me this is a big move right this is two future first round picks You you just got your draft capital back Here’s the here’s the other thing Anthony If you want to be a player for Devin Booker or player X whoever it is you’re going to need all of your first round picks most likely So by moving two of these for someone like Derek White who I think is awesome you are probably hindering your ability to go get Devin Booker or whoever unless you include Assar or Ron or andor Jaylen Duran or something like that [Music] Ooh [Music] Ooh Ah [Music]

  1. Derrick White is not better than Ivey. He's on a better team with 2 main options taking the attention away from him giving the illusion he's better than he is. White is a role player and that's where it ends

  2. Nope. And we need to come to terms with Beasley not being affordable unless he's willing to take less money on a short deal. And why would he do that?

  3. I guess these publications throw out this stuff to see what will stick, kinda like thowing playdough against a wall.. Also, I guess to see what sucker will fall for it.

  4. Derrick is not better than Jaden Ivey quite talking nonsense….Derrick white is a good player simple he also has the benefits of being on a great team while in a starting line up with 5 all stars he's the fourth scoring option they are two guys that commands lots of defensive attention in Jaylen and Jayson there's also Holiday playing with this type of talent will magnify your stats white is not worth Ivey and two picks…
That's the price for an allstar player that can be a number 1 scoring option entering his prime..white is 30 soon to be 31….the pistons should be looking to upgrade the Power forward spot and get a good backup big

  5. This trade is a big no for me. Why would you trade an up-and-coming player for an old, aging player who probably wouldn't last more than five years in the league? Bryce must be nuts if he thinks the Detroit Pistons will make that type of trade.

  6. That would be dumb! Ivey will be as good as Donovan Mitchell next season . Even though Duren is only 21 and his future bright. He is what he's going to be more than likely his entire career , Can't protect the rim outside of a spectacular block once every 10 games and can't score outside the
paint. Trade Duren , Harris , Fetechcio , Holland and 2 first rd picks to Milwaukee for Giannis Antetepouto. Sign Brooke Lopez , Chris Paul , THJ and Andre Drummond to a 1 , 1 , 2 and 3 year VM contract respectively. Beasley a 4 year MLE. Trade Sasser & #37 to move into the late first rd and pick Danny Wolf.
