🔴 LIVE 🔴 Tampa Bay Rays vs Miami Marlins | MLB The Show 25 | Jun 7 | MLB Full Game EN VIVO
and welcome into the ballpark happy to have you with us inner league baseball on MLB the show it’s the Miami Marlins taking on the Tampa Bay Rays and we’ll be back with the first pitch right after this just about set to go on the hill here today ryan Pepio well coming into this game hitters are batting under 250 against this starting pitcher so it just shows you how effective he’s been he’s been able to move his pitches around add and subtract change up the look so that hitters don’t get too comfortable and start squaring up the baseball we’ll see what he’s got in this one and the batter will be the shortstop Otto Lopez [Applause] ground ball left side tosses to first and an easy out to start the game and time now for the Marlins lineup and so far this year this has not been a very good offense well in this day and age if you can’t slug and get on base that OPS has to be at a certain level if you’re going to produce runs give your pitchers an opportunity as they’re facing tough offenses as well augustine Ramirez will hit next just off the outside edge ball one one out base is empty very high with that one and that’s ball two and another ball ball outside and it’s ball runner take your base he did not take the bat off his shoulder the entire at bat one down digging in connor Norby that misses that’s ball one ramirez stands at first with one out swing and a high-fly ball right field makes the catch for the out two down so now it’s the fourhole hitter Eric Wagam number 33 Eric Wagaman that one’s upstairs ball one and that’s in there for a strike and now it’s even one and one the one-1 is fouled off swings and miss has struck him out one left for Miami and now the Rays will get their first opportunity in a scoreless ball game you’re watching Major League Baseball exclusively on the show back now in Tampa Bay starting on the mound in this one Edward Cabrera well he’s been a very dependable starter for his club and what stands out for me is that left-handed hitters have really struggled batting below 200 against him and it just tells me they have a hard time tracking the baseball maybe it’s the release point maybe it’s the motion but just some way somehow they’ve got to figure out a way to pick it up and try to have some success from the left side bottom of the first and now the right fielder Josh Low fast ball for a strike going on and the pitch that’s in there that’s strike two and delivers outside see if he can go upstairs a little bit make sure you miss up and out of the zone since you’re heading to count one two don’t miss in the zone cuz that’s where you get hurt and that one handled one up one down kidding me all right let’s take a look at the Rays lineup someone who makes things happen for them in part with his legs cameron Meisner well Boo there aren’t many guys who have a flare for the big moment like he does i mean batting over 400 with runners in scoring position are you kidding me i I know it’s not guaranteed or an automatic but I hope we get to see him in a close late game situation with runners in scoring position and just see is he truly a machine or not brandon Laau in the box now as he leaves that one up high and it’s fouled away next offering is in for a strike this is a batter who clearly performs better in day games i don’t know why but his numbers generally back it up that one misses it’s two and two really good take especially with two strikes still two and two after the foul ball that wasn’t an easy pitch to hit it’s much easier to do damage against mistakes but that’s not what that pitch was honest it’s a strikeout batting third the designated Diazi Diaz and a strike it’s 0 and one and the slider just misses two outs base is empty lined into left center base hit batting fourth the first baseman Jonathan bad at first and next will be the cleanup hitter Jonathan he’s someone that really beats up on right-handed pitching the lefties however give him a little bit more trouble jonathan right through there for a strike and a bat like this is almost over as it begins in this situation you have no idea what the next pitch is going to be you just got to hope that you can make contact the 02 breaking ball misses down and away one and two and that just misses great job of laying off those pitches down in the zone to even the count up at two and two such a better feeling for the hitter outside corner got him looking one left for Tampa scoreless after one second inning set to go and now for the Marlins arberto Hernandez pepio back to work and that one misses up and in ball one just missed time to check on our umpires earl Hendrickx calling balls and strikes yeah well-liked umpire boo pretty consistent with his zone so if you’re familiar with him and how he works you won’t get too surprised by anything sometimes he’ll give a little bit off the corner but nothing too crazy at all slashed foul down the right side then a hook off into the seats but 2-1 just missed what about an umpire’s height how much of a role does that play in your experience and what the strike zone is like yeah I think it pushes the strike zone up a little bit which you know as a former hitter you like that you wanted the ball up you didn’t want to have to deal with stuff down in the zone consistently spoils a two strike pitch and he’ll see another as the game has moved along we see more and more information supplied by teams about the umpires i’ve been in clubouses where they have pictures of all four umpires nicknames hometowns and as well hobbies listed just so you can kind of small talk the umpire a little bit that’s great and at the plate for Miami Dane Meyers pitch misses inside and that is ball one second inning here no score swaying in a ball popped in the air and it stays fair runner on at first with one gone nick Forez the next up for the Marlins fought off [Music] foul brother takes off pitch in for a strike throw there safe well we all know this team is struggling right now and sometimes you just got to do something different to generate some offense a little more aggressive right there to put the pressure on the opponent we’ll see if it pays off on the scoreboard for this team swing and a chopper out to short slings it across and there are two down the designated and now here’s the Marlins DH javier Senoha has been such a good hitter with runners in scoring position some guys just take it to another level for him right now at the plate it’s like everyone else is in slow motion and he’s in full speed fouled off down the right side [Music] and there’s a foul [Applause] ball man at second just misses and it’s two and two close pitch there and he’s kind of wondering where it missed you know getting a feel for each umpire strike zone is something that pitchers and hitters really have to think about and work on from game to game and sometimes from at bat to at bat man on second two down in the air left side morell on the move nabs it and that’s the third out so one hit is all they get we go to the bottom of inning number two no score back here at Chopana Field we head to the bottom of the second and stepping in for the Rays Junior Camo [Applause] line drive caught from up here it looked like that liner might be splitting the gap in right center that’s one of those atom balls you just have to live with as a hitter cameron Meisner next to hit for the Rays he’s someone that you might not describe as having elite level speed but he can absolutely move and it is a factor in his game check swing and he held up boo this guy’s definitely a plus runner but what I love about him is that he goes all out every single time never takes a break it’s guys like that even though they don’t have the elite speed the fact that they’re consistent with it they make moves on the base pads yeah there’s two away batting seven the left fielder Christopher here’s the left fielder Christopher Morell and first offering is fouled off the other way that’s a hit joey gets on base and keeps it going [Applause] batting it the shortstop taylor Taylor Wall next to hit for the Rays come on [Applause] there’s the strike [Applause] ground ball right side he takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do it one hit one left we play two full we’re tied nothing nothing and we’re back onto the third inning and now number 12 looking for his first big league hit right here out in front and foul to the left side [Applause] right through there for a strike gets a piece there we’ll do it again i wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball try to go again with a fast ball slightly elevated he just having a hard time catching up on the ground right side throws to first lead off hitter gone in the third the batter number six shortstop Otto so the lineup flips over and now the shorts stop Otto Lopez grounded out his first time lopez measures 5′ 10 in 26 years old and he found his way onto the team after being claimed off Waver wow no fair right there i mean that slider didn’t move till the very last moment incredibly difficult oh nice stop on a slide and he gets him nicely done come back this is such a difficult play for third base Chris a sliding stop and worthy of another look the stack cast oh I’ll tell you man i’m frustrated if I’m the one hustling down the line the whole time thinking I’ve got a knock and going to beat the throw and then boom you hear the ball hit the mid and you’re out that’s just a great stop and great throw ramirez the next to hit takes outside next pitch in for a strike and it’s one and one top of the third no score uh-uh all 2-1 that one in 95 missed up top and that’s ball three [Music] inside corner and that’s called a strike count is full [Applause] fights it off he’ll see another cut on and missed and it’s a strikeout and that is the inning and the Marlins down quietly and we are still scoreless as we to the rest of the third now it’s Jansen to hit Jens at 96 that pitch is in for a strike highf fly ball out towards left center ramirez sizing this one up hooks it away for the out now batting right fielder Josh Low so next to the plate for Tampa Bay Josh Low rolled out to second in his first at bat that one pulled foul [Music] splits the plate no balls two strikes [Music] swag and a miss struck him out that K is his third of the game he came out of his mechanics there typically likes to shoot the ball the other way but that time little anxious lao at the plate went down on strikes his first time through close one doesn’t get the call one and0 there’s the strike and and the curve is down and in here’s a rip to short but he’s there for the third out rays go in order 1 2 3 and we’re still knotted at zero and welcome back to the ballpark as we go to the top of the fourth and now for the Marlins Connor Norby [Music] misses outside ball one he’s been pitching well but we’ll see what kind of adjustment the hitters make this second time through the order we’ll know if he’s got really good stuff in this one or not [Applause] up and in two and one that’s good pitch there really had some run and finished little up and in just on the edge yeah that’s one of those if you swing at it back as you jog back to the dugout hammers that one deep left field and forget it he sends it out of here his fourth home run of the season just like that they move in front it’s one- nothing that’s a fun way to take the lead just hit one out of the park looks like this guy was looking out over the plate but he was ready to turn on the inside fast ball so direct to the pitch absolutely blasted out of this ballpark now at the plate Eric Wagaban yeah that’s outside that’s ball one you know these Marlins showing great discipline at the plate and patience definitely seems to be the name of their game in this one he’s only given up one run but the starter pitch count is starting to get up there and that might be the best news yet for this offense next offering is down low and it’s 2 and 0 you know sometimes all it takes is getting to the next arm before an offense does any damage and that might be the case today misses with the two and he’s fired three straight outside the strike zone that one in there across the letters and he walked him take your base pretty easy walk right there last pitch wasn’t even much to think about the batter the left Hernandez the next to hit struck out looking his first time foul ball [Applause] there right through there for a strike slider misses outside [Applause] and that one just missed off the outside edge [Music] swings threw it and that’s a strike out just ran out of patience there he took a couple of pitches to even that count off at two balls and two strikes but that time chased outside the [Applause] zone now it’s the right fielder Dane Meyers one for one with a single so [Applause] far and that one sliced fouled and Alio one tapped at the plate but it’s a foul ball knocks that one away and we’ll do it again and he hits a ground ball right side and that’s just fouled strike three and that’s two in a row that’s tough you see it well i mean that was clearly up and out of the strike zone that’s one of the hardest things but when you see a pitch out of the hand at eye level that discipline to remember I can’t hit that pitch if I can see it really well at eye level I can’t catch up to that pitch when a pitcher’s got this kind of velocity [Applause] Tap foul at the plate wagaman off of first with two away next pitch is downstairs outside with a breaking ball [Applause] that one fouled off two and two one run across in the frame so far top half of inning number four popped up and that is [Applause] that one for the Marlins on the solo shot it’s now a one- nothing ball game back now in Tampa Bay bottom four at the plate now for the Rays is the DH Yandi Diaz line drive makes the grab one away it’s never fun going back to the dugout after hitting the line drive that finds a glove but you will get some high fives you know when you make great contact you feel like you’ve done everything right but in this game of baseball not everything is in your control and now Jonathan Aranda struck out looking at his first at bat [Applause] there’s the strike oh he’s looking great so far it helps when over 80% of your first pitches are strikes he might be able to go the distance if he keeps this up and that drops in for a strike generally second third time through the lineup you want to be able to lean on those secondary pitches and command them looks like he’s doing a nice job of it that’s outside going to count one and two [Music] and he couldn’t hold back he’s rung up on strikes really love the pitch sequence right there i’m telling you what pitcher and catcher on the same page right now number 13 Junior Camro next to hit for the Rays he’s over for one fast for a strike 0 and one pitch misses there and one and one raised down by a run next offering is in for a strike hit hard on the ground to the right side and it goes just fouled two outs swings through that and it’s a strikeout now five strikeouts for him on the mouth nothing do it for Tampa they trail here one- nothing we go to the top of the fifth and at the plate for Miami Javier Senoha senova Pepio back to work right through there for a strike he’s been very consistent with his command out there on the mound consistently throwing at the knees pretty impressive when a guy can repeat his delivery like this yeah that’s a little bit high check swing he went too far and it’s a strike one and two count swing and a ball hit out towards left center field and that’ll fall for a base hit and a good start to the inning well that certainly feels good when you can win the at bat after being down in the count up against it with two strikes right there hooked around that pitch on the outside but he was still able to square it up pretty nicely and that takes quick strong wrist to pull that off and now they’ve got some speed on first so we’ll see if they try to get him into motion he’s pitching well but not throwing a ton of first pitch strikes usually doesn’t work out for success but you can never predict baseball let’s get the easy now let’s go check swing no appeal and the count is one and one runner at first with no outs here outside and that’s ball two that’s foul off to the right side keeps the AB going first could be running on the pitch he’s got good enough speed to steal the bag to get in scoring position even if it’s a swing and miss at the plate good battle here about to be the eighth pitch of the atri fouled off again and it remains three and two punch him out stays alive five foul balls in this at bat so far and these two are going headto head you can see the crowd they’re starting to get into it a little bit more and more each pitch even though there hasn’t been a ball in play yet about to see the 11th pitch of the at here on the outside corner got him looking really good battle right there and that final pitch probably could have gone either way he was hoping he get ball four instead the umpire rings him up for the backwards K [Applause] here’s the shortstop at the plate otto Lopez checks over to first back safely pitch misses and that’s ball one and that’s a strike action in the pen down there taj Bradley warming up for manager Kevin Cash or also throwing ball to strike the pitch this one lifted in the air left field morell makes the grab two down good pitch he just kind of had him out in front on that pitch away and wasn’t able to stay closed the center fielder Augustine Ramirez augustine Ramirez the next up for the Marlins and first pitch fastball is in for a strike that one ripped but fouled senoha the runner at first with two gone to the right side he takes it himself to the bag and that’ll do it marlins leave one but they hold a one- nothing lead we head to the bottom of the fifth now here is Cameron Meer cameron Meer hard on the ground to first and he handles it himself for the out well he’s doing a nice job of keeping the ball out of the air lets the defense work behind him with another ground ball good execution morell christopher Morell next to hit for the Rays a single his first time just missed the Rays down by a run last half of inning number five and that one pulled foul there’s the strike up high and the count one and two gets a piece and stays [Music] alive the one two back to the mound he’s got it over to first half of the fifth inning moving along two quick outs now batting shortstop Taylor next to him Taylor Walls 0 for one he grounded out to first his last time and that one is inside ball one one and0 no that missed that’s a ball next offering in there for a strike strike one fast for a strike oh this offense has just been locked down almost five full innings of shut out baseball hard hit to third zips it to first rays retired in order still nothing on the scoreboard for him after five it’s the Marlins one the Rays nothing so they turn things over to one of their young arms Taj Bradley just trying to keep this one close here and this is where a bullpen can give their players a chance to fight back into the game bradley so digging in Connor Norby he’s already homerred in this game conor Norby Bradley a 6-2 righty he features a four seam fast a splitter a cutter and he occasionally uses a curve fouled off left side little early on that fast ball i’m sure the pitcher taking a note look for an off speed pitch on this next one headed towards the corner and that is a foul ball [Music] next pitch is outside two and [Music] two that’s the ball count is full that one misses so a lead off walk the first base number 33 now here’s the cleanup hitter for Miami Eric Wagaban he’s 0 for one off the mark there ball one run around to go that one fouled [Applause] off in the air right field low sizes this one up he’s got it and there’s one away that’s just a really nice catch on the run right there he saved extra bases for sure if the pitcher’s his friend he’ll give him a second to catch his breath before he’s ready to deal the next pitch and up next for Miami Hernandez for two in this one line drive makes the grab for the second out they couldn’t have asked for a better out makes a great play on the line drive and they keep the runner at first just like that they’re almost out of the inning and now for the Dane Meyers one for two right down the shoot strike one well if he’s going to steal second you want him to go early in the count that way he’s not a distraction to the hitter at the plate go ahead and get it out of the way so the hitter can focus on the pitch two outs runner on the go pitching for a strike throw save that was close but Stackcast shows us why he so often seems to be on the safe side of these steel attempts chris yeah you see that plus speed and he needed every last bit of it to swipe that bag such a threat on the bases next offering upstairs pretty standard high O2 fastball right there if you’re smart you’ll look for something down in the zone but not too far don’t want to chase that breaking ball in the dirt runner at second two down and we’re the top half of the sixth ball nick Forz waits on deck for Miami man at second and he grounds one back up the middle what a stop jumps throws they get the out and that will do it so it’s no runs no base hits no errors and one man left 91 and two scheduled to hit in the home half of the six it’s the Marlins one the Rays nothing [Applause] back here at Tropicana Field top of the six danny Jansen in here jensen and then skips in the dirt [Applause] swing and a miss strike one and it really looks like these hitters have been in between with their timing today good fast ball excellent slider but they’ve not been able to commit to one velocity and stay there that misses and it’s two and two and now a little barking back towards the umpire clearly thought he got that outside corner on what was a pretty big pitch sometimes that only makes it worse for you moving forward but it can also open up that location in the future if the umpire thinks there’s a chance that he missed it josh Low in the deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact [Applause] here high fly ball out towards left field that one’s back there [Music] he made him pay for that one home run number five on the season it’s [Applause] one well I’m sure there’s a big grin on his face right now boo he’s probably had some of those that didn’t stay fair but off the bat it looked like he was going to foul was able to keep it in there tucked it nicely and he gets the jog around the bases good for him low in the box again takes the strike that misses and the count even one and one well these Rays simply put are producing a lot of quality swings they’ve hit seven line drives already and even though some of them have been for outs there’s nothing wrong with delivering consistent hard contact that’s almost always going to lead to positive results swag and a miss the velocity blasted it right past him well pitchers have become so much better at commanding that high fast it used to be that a lot of pitchers didn’t like to throw it because it throw off their release point and their mechanics and they’re aimed at keeping everything at the knees get ground balls but because hitters get a swing path that can lift balls at the knees up in the air and over the fence this pitch has come back into play and they are doing some special things with it la at the plate now that’s ball one one out base is empty and a run in here in the bottom of the six late on that fast ball pretty frugal guy he is very efficient with the pitch count in this [Music] one one down base is empty fouled off the plate they’ll do it again no this is a good time to step out of the box take a deep breath reset couple of change ups probably won’t see another one here next pitch off the play the countdown two and two that one just misses he’s really tightening up his hitting zone with two strikes here i love it that’s a walk went with another change up and missed the spot the batter number two designated hitter so now here’s the DH Yand Diaz and fouled off loud at first one [Applause] [Music] [Applause] gone swaying and a ball popped in the air they fired in quickly so it’s first and second with only one away i was watching his rounds during batting practice today so impressed with his ability to let the ball travel go back up the middle and the other way sometimes when you step in the box during the game you get a little anxious and you get away from that but so far I’ve seen him stay consistent with his pregame preparation so here’s the cleanup hitter Jonathan [Applause] first pitch and he just misses well all eyes on the double play ball in this spot no better way to get out of this inning [Applause] strike one man he really sells the change up with that arm action there’s a swing and a miss one ball two strikes runners at first and second with one gone sw belted that one carrying can’t get there should be extra bases here comes Loud the throw is off and he’s in to score they take the lead it’s 2-1 well that may end up being an at bat we go back to later on when this game is over put a really beautiful swing on that pitch right there just didn’t quite have the combination of launch angle and exit velocity to drive it over the wall but when you can beat a center fielder like that you know you hit it well now the Marlins manager out of the dugout and he’ll make a move to the pen edward Cabrera will depart and the line not closed on him yet as he’s responsible for the runners on base back with a new pitcher after this now pitching for Cal Quantrol takes over on the mound coming on to face a righty here and he’s been fantastic against him this year his numbers in those matchups are very good so two in scoring position with one out now up for Tampa Bay Junior Camro breaking ball through there for a strike hitter’s got some good opposite field power what I like about something being hit to the right side into the outfield is that the base runner at second has a very good read and can determine whether or not he can score on that base hit check swing but it’s put in play wagaman makes the play and there’s two down oh that’s a frustrating at bat right there big opportunity and just missed it i know he wanted to do some damage next guy will have to pick him up cameron Meisner getting ready to hit yeah don’t need much damage here just a base hit likely will score two here’s a rip to short but he’s there for the third out but two runs for him and they jump ahead seventh inning coming up it’s the Rays two and the Marlins one and we’re back now here is Nick Forez as he turns on the rubber and with that good live arm delivers yeah that’s fouled off next offering in there for a stra and it’s 02 keeps the bat going with a foul ball [Applause] and that is a good eye on a pitch down low and the count is one and two swing and a miss struck him out and now one away a big first out here in the seventh be a punch out yeah it just does so much to change the outlook of an important inning like this when you got the leadoff hitter so critical in setting the table when you got a tight game like this so a strikeout really puts them on their heels and now here’s the Marlins DH Javier Senoha and that drops in for a strike and that one missing low in there for a strike at the top of the zone holding on to a one-run lead here in the top half of inning number seven next one in the dirt fouled off and they’ll do it again looking to get the tying run on base spoils that one and it remains two and two got him looking that’s a strike out i can’t argue with that one and clearly he was looking for something else anything but the breaking ball it’s a great pitch to hit right there if you’re looking for it and kind of a gift in a two- strike count but sometimes you just get fooled and you got to tip your cap and there’s one thing on his mind this at bat getting that first hit at the big league level in there and it’s 0 and one well as good as things can be it can be a tough day at the office even for the skippers seeing the offense just sputter not able to get anything going next pitch misses one ball one strike two down nobody on as the Rays try and punch back down a run swing and a miss as he was out front two and two hit on the ground to short walls throws to first marlins set down in order nothing doing for the Marlins they’re down two to one [Music] and welcome back to the ballpark bottom of the inning now the left fielder Christopher Morurell swinging a liner foul off to the right oh that hit him safe at first and now we’ll check on the right-hander hope he’s all right and now they’ll hustle out to check on him that was quite a shot he took as you see him down on the knee yeah clearly in some real pain but he will not want to come out of this game if he doesn’t have to it’s looking to me like he’s going to try to shake it off and continue so a man aboard and now Taylor Walls and a strike in there nobody out runner at first close but called a ball one and one good spot there but didn’t get the strike at the knees and doesn’t seem too convinced by the call out there on the mound as he tries to get a better sense of the umpire strike zone the kick and the pitch runner goes swing and a miss throw to second tag and they got him man I see him trying to be aggressive right there late in this ball game try to add on to that lead you know I really like the thought but it just didn’t work out that time nice job by the defense right there to keep things right where they are in terms of the score [Applause] base is empty one away here the bottom of the [Music] seventh in the air right side meyers on the move pulls it in and there’s two away now batting catcher Kenny gets it and first offering is fouled off quattro back to work yeah a foul ball quadrol back to work that’s off the mark yeah the count one and two man this has been a real important inning in relief i mean so far they’ve been doing a great job holding that deficit at one and a swing and a miss down on strikes and good work there as he gets a one two three rays held in check here but they still lead it two to one on the mound now Kevin Kelly these are the spots relievers really make a name for themselves late and close there’s not much margin for error but at the same time there’s a reason they’re put in these situations and the batter will be the short stop Otto Lopez 0 for three in this one that’s in there that’s strike one doublebarreled action in the bullpen pete Fairbanks warming up for manager Kevin Cash number 48 a lefty warming up as well [Applause] outside low one and two to count and there’s a ball two two that misses the zone and it’s a full count that’s a really good take augustine Ramirez in the ADC circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here [Applause] swanging a highf fly ball hit the air left center field this one’s got a chance gone home run number five on the season and we are tied it’s 22 that swing completely changes the momentum of this game boo anytime you have a pitch down the middle of the plate the percentages go up for the hitter to do damage even if it’s a pretty good sinker like that one nice piece of hitting there at the plate and at the plate for Miami Augugustine Ramirez and that’s in for a strike [Applause] that one finds a corner and it’s 0 and two with the big bats coming up and a home run already surrendered he’s really going to have to execute against these next couple of batters golden shoe now next offering is outside [Music] [Applause] hit in the air right field squeezes it and there’s one away the third base number one here’s the third baseman Connor Norby he’s already homered here in this one [Applause] and that is out of play field two that was the sweeper but it missed one out base is empty and a run in and we’re in the top of the eighth just misses there finish him and it remains two and two [Applause] base hit center field so they get a man aboard with a one out single a perfect example right there that play discipline it pays off the deeper he gets into account the more comfortable he becomes and he usually wins the battle go ahead run on base Eric Wagaban the next up for the Marlins lift it in the air left field pretty well struck meisner settles under it puts it away for the out the batter the left fielder Arberto Hernandez now Ariberto Hernandez with pretty good speed over there at first base i think the pitcher’s got to slow everything down hold the ball a little bit step off just try to break the rhythm and timing of a potential base dealer there’s a strike two gone the possible go ahead run at first here comes the pitch runner breaks for second swing and a miss tag oh we see Jansen too late with a throw and the go-ahead run is now in scoring position [Applause] and that one is lifted in the air low has it sized up and that’s the third out but this clutch home run gets us even again two- two game you’re watching Major League Baseball on the show back now new pitcher on the mound as we roll into the bottom of the eighth jansen jump he’s been so good against lefties and now the right fielder Josh Low for three with two strikeouts and a ground out on the corner for a strike it’s 0 and [Applause] one ball one in one [Applause] heading down the line nobody can get there and it’s a foul ball and a ball in two strikes and misses inside [Applause] ground ball up the middle that’s a base hit the lead off single and the go-ahead run is aboard always feels amazing getting a job team needs you to climb just bigger than your own individual stats tight end on the swing was good able to shoot the ball up the middle didn’t square it up as much as he probably would have liked but that’s a good approach paying off no outs runner at first here’s the second base Brandon no he’s safe that one finds the zone that’s strike one the go-ahead run aboard at first nobody out that pitch clips the outside corner and a count is 0 and two signs of activity in the pen for the Marlins ryan Weathers the young lefty looks to be getting himself ready foul ball left side he’ll see another [Applause] and now one and two just misses the mark outside the zone two balls two strikes [Applause] that one ripped and a base hit throw holds him at second but the go-ahead run now in scoring position and still nobody out couple of singles back to back anytime you rip a line drive the other way you feel really good about what you did at the plate you trusted your hands you let the ball travel and you took the ball straight to it that’s great work right there really important at bat coming up now to the plate now for the Rays is the DH Yandi Diaz he was late there strike one go ahead run at second here in the bottom half of the eighth inning oh he doesn’t get the call and that’s ball one one- one yeah big swing and a miss he’s been great in this one eye hand coordination just failed him a little bit right there that’s off the inside corner and the count is even two and two and that’s in the dirt going to lay off that push down low the lead runner at second loud at first with no outs on a line and there’s one down now batting first baseman Jonathan Aranda and now the first baseman Jonathan Aranda he’s been really clutch with runners in scoring position this season so they’ll have to be extra careful in this matchup and a first pitch fastball is in for a strike well in this situation with runners on you got to get ahead in the cow so that you can dictate the rest of the at bat nice job right there throw to second you know Boo if you’re that base runner at second base you want to be quiet out there not bouncing around not distracting your teammate the hitter make sure that he can clearly focus on that pitcher and that release point highfly ball and that one curling foul down the right side [Applause] two on one out and just misses with that one well clearly not too happy with the call there thought he caught the top of the zone and you could pretty much read his lips saying that’s not up [Applause] swings and sends a rocket to right and it’s off the top of the wall run comes in for second it’s an RBI single they lead it in the eighth such great concentration everybody on their feet knowing that you can come through with a good swing but there he doesn’t try to do too much runners at the corners here one away now the third baseman Junior Camro yeah there’s the [Applause] [Applause] strike fouled off he was late first and third one [Applause] down that just misses and that is ball one 02 curve right there hitter kind of expects that and good job of just showing that confidence and trying to get back into this count [Applause] up the middle lopez the underhand flip there’s one and that’s two so one run in the inning on this base hit last chance coming up here for the Marlins back now and on the mound the closer Pete Fairbanks should be a good first match up for him here he’s been doing a great job against right-handed bats so far this season they’ve had a lot of trouble squaring him up [Applause] meyers swings through it for strike one come and get me fast right there he didn’t look ready for the velocity i think it’d be a mistake to throw him anything off speed right here swing and a miss as he was out front that time ground ball right side throws the first in time and they get the lead off man in the ninth you want to be a great defense you have to deliver consistently it doesn’t matter how many highlight reel plays you make if you can’t execute the small stuff just like we saw he’s two outs away here’s the catcher Nick Forez fought off [Applause] foul one down base is empty and now the count is even outside with a breaking ball and there’s the strike one-run game here in the top of the ninth still two and two after the foul [Applause] ball and downstairs Javier Senoha in the deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here [Music] [Applause] ball four he walked in and that keeps things going what a battle it’s not always easy laying off a 3-2 pitch and I tell you what earned that walk now a move being made for a pinch hitter xavier Edwards big spot for him here there’s the strike [Applause] pulled hard but it’s a foul ball [Applause] breaking ball misses down and away one two just off the inside corner two balls two strikes boo he never moved cuz he never had time to but that kind of velocity you’d prefer that pitcher work away swing and a fly ball in the air out towards right center field he’s got it and there’s two away that’s a really nice play ranging back into the outfield for that catch we all know those can be a little tricky especially if the wind’s swirling around out there so they’re down to their final out number 12 the next up for the Marlins 0 for three with two ground outs and a strikeout and a first pitch fast ball is in for a strike just amazing to me how many closers and backend relievers just throw absolute gas these days i never would have had a chance they’re down to the final strike well you got the hitter already chasing that nasty slider if you’re on the mound you just want to expand the zone right now get a swing and miss and get through this at bat hit to right and that ought to do it and he’ll make the catch ball game and the Rays hold on to win a tight one as this one ends as a one-run ball game after four wins in a row you start to think a little bit that you’re on a roll and that’s the momentum that just takes on a life of its own players start hitting up and down the lineup never know who’s going to come up with the big hit who’s going to come out of the bullpen and get the big outs but it’s a good feeling and you want to extend it
