Rangers vs. Nationals Game Highlights (6/8/25) | MLB Highlights
The tarp is off the field at Nationals Park and we are getting ready for baseball in this rubber game between the Nationals and the Rangers. Trevor Williams, 33 year old right hander back to the bump at Nationals Park. Rangers loading up their lineup with left handed bats, smith, one of them, he will lead off for them another fastball from Trevor Williams and his first strikeout. It’s josh Smith on just four pitches. Sam Hagerty switch hitting outfielder. He’s in right field today right back out there with the four seamer for Trevor Williams back to back cases, both with a four seam fastball, the slumping Corey Seager here with two outs and nobody on swinging a line drive toward the middle. Nunez ranges to the right side of the infield. Has it almost stumbles straightens throws on the run and time for the out and it’s a 123 inning for Trevor Williams. Jacob Latz starts it off the 29 year old from making his second start of his career. Yes, he’s starting, but he’s pretty much taking this mindset as he’s a reliever just pitching the first inning change the top of the Nationals lineup. Alex Paul will be the leadoff man for Martinez to two pitch and he gets a strikeout of Alex call a good way to start the day for Jacob. So a man on with one out and Rosario, the batter, one strike pitch bouncer up the middle that has a chance to be two. Simeon gets one throws on to first for the double play and the inning is over. Well, Marcus Simeon turned that double play and he’ll leave things off here in the second and it’s nothing, nothing, a fair ground ball shortstop and that one took a weird hop on Nunez and it dies out in left field. Semien is aboard. We’ll see if they charge an error on Nunez or if they chalk that one up to a bad hop hop. It got off his palm of his hand and Then popped up and got him. But it did take a high was a bad hop and Then off his hand, got him in the face. So here comes Evan Carter and Evan Carter hits the ball well, deep out to right field call is back near the wall. Evan Carter’s second home run of the year and he gives the Rangers an early two nothing lead. A great start for the Texas Rangers yesterday. They got off to a two nothing lead in the first here in the second inning. Evan Carter gets a fastball and crushes it one and two. Now on the right handed hitting jake Berger and that’s in the air, left field wood on the run. He’s looking up that one’s off the base of the fence and heading to second base is Berger , third hit of the inning for the Rangers. Berger’s 11th double this year, eighth place hitter and he lifts one out to right field that will take call back a few steps. He’ll make the grab. Berger can tag and move up to third base. So another potential run is only 90 ft away. And here’s Jonah. He on slow ground ball right side fielded by Lowe, he’ll put to Williams covering in of time for out number three, Nathaniel Lowe leads off for the nationals strike three called Latz gets Lowe watching a fastball at the knees over the inner half of the plate switch inning, josh Bell stands in now and he gets him looking with the change up back to back strikeouts just changing the speeds gets the call. Jonah. He gets the credit for taking this change up just below the zone and pulling it up. Presented as a strike two out. Nobody on here’s Riley Adams tremendous power when he connects as he strikes out Adams and he strikes out the side of the second inning, Jacob Latts on fire. Here’s corey Seeger. The pitch, a fly ball off the end of his bat. Shallow center out Nunez in comes young young dives. He caught it a headlong diving backhanded catch in shallow left center field and Jacob Young sticks, the landing fine play coming in and over in shallow left center for the second out of the inning. Robbing Seeger of a blue pit. Here’s the pitch to Jacob Young. That one hit. Well, it scoots off the back of the mound and in center field. So one out single here in the third for Jacob Young. Let’s see if the nets try and put these wheels in motion here to see Nunez good speed in the box. Jacob Young, great speed down at first runner. Gun is swing and a miss for the strikeout to second. Won’t be in time. No, it is. He came off the bag and it’s a strike out double play to get Latz out of the inning and this is now the third time in this series that the nationals baserunner has slid into second base safely and Then come off the bag and been tagged out. Jacob La still out there. He just nine hitters and he’ll get the top of the order here in the fourth. Paul gonna send a high fly ball down the line and left. Will it stay fair? It will. And it’s out alex Cole, his second home run of this home stand and he gets the Nats on the board in the fourth. It’s 2 to 1. Alex Cole dropped the head on it number two of the season and this one gets the place going a little bit. We got some offense, one and two to wood swing and a miss struck him out on a changeup seventh strikeout of the game, this one on a breaking ball and that one misses Lowe ball for just the second walk that Latz has allowed today. Jonah Heim walks out there and here comes Mike Madox and you’re already at 60 pitches. This is more than I thought JT would have today. Jonah pointing into the dugout there. Yeah. Now here comes Matt Lucero and you wonder, I’m just watching Jacob fiddling with his fingers and that’s gonna do it for Jacob. So the walk to Rosario and whatever happened to that thumb enough to spell the end of his day. What a job though by Jacob Latz. So now Webb will begin by dealing with Nathaniel Lo Lowe gonna get one up. The middle. Rosario will think about turning for third and he will throw coming from Carter, not in time and the Nats have runners at the corners here in the fourth chance for the nationals to tie it or maybe do some more groundball right side. Bell are gonna have to book it down the line. They get the trail runner and Bell beats out the relay throw. So Rosario comes in to score on the fielder’s choice and we’ve got a tie ball game. Now, rangers need to come up with some offense here, this one out to right center field and gets down bangs up against the wall and smith cruises to second with a one out double that will do it for Trevor Williams. Maybe Martinez is going to come get his veteran right hander. It will be Brad Lord coming out of the pen to try and keep this 822 game in the fifth bouncer up the middle and boy was Nunez positioned well but could not get it over to first accurately in time. And so Haggard, he’s on and they’re on the corners 32 and that’s low ball four. They are loaded up. Semien coming up. Rangers hottest hitter bouncer shortstop Nunez will make the play to first and they get the out, but the Rangers pick up the run and that’s interesting. Yeah, the force at the plate, I probably not hit enough to think about a double play but he just took the out at first base. Rangers happy about that. It’s the eighth inning and the nationals go to the bullpen for right hander Cole Henry second time in his big league career. He will pitch consecutive days with Evan Carter coming to the plate. He is having a day. He has a homer, he has a double and he has a single looking for a triple swing and a miss down. He goes Carter through the fastball strikes out for the first out in the eighth inning. Rangers done the most damage with a two run homer, double and single is sent back to the dugout Berger two for three today, that ball slugged deep out to left wood is back, it is gone. Burger makes it a three hit day and he gives the Rangers their fourth run of the ball game that’s four to two. Rangers have taken a 42 lead at the top of the ninth. Andrew Chafin try and hold it there. He’ll face Josh Smith, Sam Haggerty and Coreys. This one hit on the ground between 1st and 2nd and smith has his second hit of the game. The Rangers piling up the hits today. Pop up back up short, Luis Garc-a Junior will get there. Haggerty retired brings up Corey Seager who walked in the fifth inning but still over chopped to first. Nathaniel Lowe will spin and throw right on the money that Abrams with andrew Chafin with the stretch at first base. That’s a big league athlete right there. Go 361 on the double play to get the Nats out of the top of the ninth. Robert Garcia on the mound here , feel like you don’t see this too often. Two guys who got traded for each other very recently go head to head and Logan align one to deep left. It is Ozuna goes off his glove. Nathaniel Lowe will cruise into second with a double potential tying run will come to the plate here in the ninth as Lowe gets the better of Robert Garcia. Now josh Bell pitch on the way and that is on the corner strike three called and Bell goes down looking for the second out of the inning. It’s a pitcher zone today. Give Jonah credit frames it up, gets the call on the change up to go. Riley Adams, the hitter on strike away from wrapping this one up and it’s on the way and there’s a swing and a Miss Adam strikes out Garcia locks down the win and the Rangers take this series from the Nats 4 to 2 the final score.

Compare simeons to evan carters initial steps to first. Carter takes three baby steps compared to one simeon step. That shows us who the runner is.
