Simon Nemec And Seamus Casey Could Be Options For The San Jose Sharks To Target
neich of course we do know during the season there was rumors that he wasn’t happy with his current situation of just kind of being stuck and not there’s not really a path for him to move forward um and so he kind of makes the most logical sense but I did want to bring up Sheamus Casey as well because um as a former second round pick he’s done very very well um in the in his limited time at least when it comes to production um in the NHL
If Mike Grier wants to trade the 30th pick as part of a package for a young defenseman with upside, look no further than New Jersey, which has multiple options.

Tell me more. How are Casey’s advanced stats in the AHL and NHL? How protected were his minutes?
Minor, but important correction: Nemec was not annoyed because there wasn’t a path to the NHL, he was annoyed because the path was taking too long. This isn’t like with Askarov where, with Soros getting signed to the 8 year deal, felt the organization did not see him as the starter of the future. This is a second overall pick who has been good but not great in the AHL so the Devils never felt he earned a roster spot. On top of that the devils have a very young blueline for a playoff team and wanted to take their time with Nemec. Nemec understandably got impatient as its been 3 or 4 years (I cant remember) since he was drafted and has seem limited NHL time. However he never once stated that he felt unhappy in New Jersey, just that he is frustrated about the situation. So as of now, I do not see NJ trading him this offseason unless there is a substantial haul in it for them. Now if next offseason comes around and he is still in the AHL, then I can see him wanting out.
I don’t think Nemec has the mental to be great.
