here we got an Eagles situation to monitor here at least a player with the Eagles to potentially monitor can we hear this story this morning the news this morning the Packers have released quarterback Jaier Alexander here’s Ian Rapport on the situation with Alexander we have some significant news for the Green Bay Packers sources say they have informed Provo quarterback Jaier Alexander of his release that is expected to take place today so after an off season of wondering and discussions and some trade talks the Packers are in fact moving on from Jire Alexander remember this has been one that has been up and down back and forth for the last several months actually the last several years alexander a Pro Bowler one of the more talented quarterbacks in the NFL has battled some injury issues over the last couple years last year a particularly frustrating one this offseason the two sides agreed to explore a potential trade that trade did not happen uh before the draft uh so at that point they discussed a potential pay cut a restructured contract could not agree to terms on that either in the end the Green Bay Packers opt for a clean break they are moving on and now one of the more talented corners in the NFL expect you to be available today are you in uh see what what what is the what is the criteria for the offseason cuz I know if you get cut during the season you have to go like you have you get picked up by the worst oh no he’s a free agent free agent okay yeah yeah that’s I was trying to figure out it’s not a waiver situation yeah that’s what I Yeah I was trying to figure that out in the offseason uh off injured is probably the reason why he got cut yeah so he’s only played in the last two years combined 14 games he has missed uh you know what is that that’s of 34 games so he’s missed 20 out of 34 games last two years that that’s a little bit of a concern issue for me you know the fact that he’s been been injured often so now you’re talking about bringing them here with a bunch of young cats i understand what we’re talking about because we have some positions that are that are up in the air right now especially second yes the second corner spot but how healthy is he going to be it’s almost like a Darius Slay situation remember last year we would we were laughing and giggling about the fact that uh Darius had his Hulk Hogan moments at times where he would he would go off the field for a little while and he come back but in this situation doesn’t sound like he’s coming back a whole lot when he gets hurt so I mean I hear what you’re saying but I’m willing to let the young guys play so it reminds me a little bit of when they got James Bradberry like we remember Bradberry at the end and it wasn’t good but his first year here James Bradberry was awesome he was an allp pro he helped him get to the Super Bowl in 2022 and he got here after the Giants released him uh I think it was around May June it was it was around this time of the year the Giants released Bradberry they had salary cap issues whatever and there was still some there was still some juice left in him he could play and he got to a defense with a lot of good players and for a year Bradbury was awesome i think there’s still be some juice left with J.R alexander now I don’t know if I don’t think he’s currently injured he’s just been injured i think he’s healthy now they just didn’t want to pay him what he was owed this season so they moved on they couldn’t fight a trade partner i absolutely want Jayier Alexander here i don’t love that other quarterback spot at all adori Jackson is a journeyman and Keely Ringo I know his mom’s fine Hugh but I’m trying to win a Super Bowl again okay like I I I can’t count on that i I I think it’d be an awesome signing for the Eagles and if it doesn’t work out they still have Ringo right it’s not like Ringo goes anywhere well I look at it like this Joe and and thanks for pointing out the fact that his mom is fine cuz that that is the truth every time he comes up you say it yeah but I think as the Philadelphia Eagles go you have to give the guys that have been here and that are accustomed to the way you run things an opportunity to have a shot to at least get the job now if it doesn’t work out or they see things in guys that doesn’t really fit what they’re trying to do then you go out and do that so I understand your point he won’t be around in August though like Jay he might not be and that that’s the chance that you take so you miss the shot on you missed the shot on him but there are going to be other opportunities that present themselves because I look at it like this what do we know about Zack Bond when he got here and how much potential he would have sure you know so it’s it’s one of those things where I feel that if the Eagle if the Eagles make a move on them then it tells me that they are not there where you are they’re not comfortable with the corners that they have but it doesn’t feel like they’re there yet yeah but sometimes opportunity knocks and you just got to go no I get that but he’s a offended injured guy you’re talking about a pro bowler who’s been only played 14 games in the last two seasons juice to me is not worth the squeeze at this point kyle you want Alexander yeah of course i mean this whole do nothing Douglas approach it’s starting to bother me frankly if this is the final product that the Eagles put out there on defense going into the season I’m going to be disappointed i will too i think they need one more solid move whether it’s in the secondary jarro Alexander’s only 28 well especially to your point when we had Reed on on on Friday we were joking with him that he’s the veteran of the group reed blanket chips now not really even a vet and I’m sorry I’m I’m dropping the Killy Ringo thing like I Why did he do that no he he’s been on the roster for years and he’s not able to break through even when Darius Sllay was injured last year they put Isaiah Rogers in like maybe that was part Maybe I don’t know what it is i just don’t think he’s ready maybe part of that was because of he didn’t pick up what they were putting down right away well how do we know he’s putting up down picking it up but he h he has the athletic ability there could be a number of different reasons why he’s not out there it doesn’t have to be athleticism all I know is if Alexander’s a free agent right now and and we don’t get him week one if if they’re throwing the ball over you know Key Ringo’s head and Dory Jackson’s head you’re going to have some explain i can tell you Alexander is a better player right now than Key Ringo is when he’s healthy yeah but Key Ringo is a better player cuz he’s healthy but right now Alexander is healthy right now want I don’t want a better player by default like if Alexander’s healthy which he is right now he’s a he’s one of the I mean he’s second best corner on the team young Kyle what have I taught you since I’ve been here nothing i don’t listen to him your biggest your biggest asset is your availability and if he’s not available then what what are we doing he is available he’s available now but I’m talking about I’m talking about for 17 17 games okay but like I look they’re not they’re thin at safety i feel like this is a by I feel like this is a by byproduct of what’s going on with the Phillies right now right but sometimes players get hurt then they get then they then they get healthy no you’re right just with Saquon too nico was always injured and then he had a full healthy year you’re totally right but we have some young guys that I feel like the Eagles want to see if they they work out i’m out alexander’s 28 i think it would fit perfectly like at if they were if they were strong at safety I might say “Okay you know they they can deal with having one hole in the secondary.” I want them to fix at least one of those two things i I need to be more confident at either safety or cornerback before you hear what you’re saying cuz the safe especially with safety position were kind of thin there well I think you go back to last week when Vic was talking about moving Cooper around based on what they have that made me think safety and corner feel a little up in the air yeah yeah I get you i get you uh so with that being said you’re talking about the depth thing the depth of the team okay you you’ve sold me on this one also I I you know when we talk about Trey Hendrickson who we often do on this show I always mention that if he doesn’t end up here you know where could he go right could he end up on the Lions or the Commanders the Rams have been a team that has been looking for a corner the whole offseason they were rumored to trade for Jaylen Ramsay the Rams were the team that gave us the most trouble in the postseason last year i don’t want to see Alexander land on the Rams and give them a potential shutdown corner then we got to deal with him in the postseason again I I think this is an opportunity for the Eagles they feel like they need one more one more piece on defense we’ll see where they go but Alexander released this morning by the Green Bay Packers

Green Bay Packers Star Cornerback Jaire Alexander was cut from the team after 7 seasons with the team! The Philadelphia Eagles who currently have a hole at CB following the departures of guys like Darius Slay and Isaiah Rodgers could use the services of a former All Pro like Alexander!
