to say I’m Batman Anyway you look at it those two guys a really big night You cannot talk about this game without talking about Denzel Clark though The catch that he made uh off of Nolan Shan Well Nolles missed a home run because of this catch by Denzel Clark and it might go down as one of it’s definitely the probably the best catch I’ve ever seen Uh and that was just unbelievable when he robbed Nolan Shanil of that home run So uh a really unbelievable defensive play but this was all set up by Use Kikuchi This is a just a fantastic start for him and a good uh really good way again start this series Yeah how Clark caught it and how he was able to prevent himself from flying over the wall in center field That that was just something uh it was just mindboggling to see that happen live in person Yeah you see a lot of guys will get most of their upper body over his whole weight from his waist up was over that fence and with that being said he extended to the backhand side to grab this baseball and as you mentioned was holding on for dear life to not flip over the fence He does and comes down with one of the better catches you will ever ever see Uh a really impressive night and you can tip your cap to him here but the Angels can tip their caps as far as they picked up the win All right so a good night for the Angels and the club remains unbeaten against the A’s one win on the season coming into this game and all of a sudden after Brogden gave up the two-run shot to Beday and Seth Brown walks if it’s not for just an incredible stop by Scott Kingy at second base on the Lawrence Butler Fielder’s choice we might be having a very different conversation about Usay Kikuchi now pitching to a sub3RA but gets his second win of the season He went seven and a third It’s the third longest outing an Angels pitcher’s gone this year He gave up one hit One hit one walk no runs and ends up getting the victory his second but man oh man it was little probably a little too close for comfort for us but man the Angels picking him up and giving this Angels bullpen a little bit of support did so in a big way with uh the Joe Adele two-run hit in the eighth inning as the Angels end up creating some separation down the stretch tonight with those three runs in the eighth Again our number 714283830 Highlight of the game I don’t think there’s any doubt about it The play that was made out in center field by Denzel Clark I mean that was as spectacular of a catch as you’ll see Tory Hunter has weighed in on social media he has said So I bumped into Garrett Anderson in the press box He was making some of the same sentiments for what an amazing catch that was I had friends texting me from all over the country sending me stuff about different catches that what could compare to that Obviously you remember some of the catches Mike Troutz made He had the one in center field here He had another in Baltimore Mike Cameron’s had some unbelievable catches Obviously you talked about Tory but you know Kenny Loftton had a catch in Cleveland that was just out of this world good There have been some amazing catches Jimmy Edmonds obviously um if you’re going to stick with Angel Lore but I think that catch we saw tonight was about as good as any that we’ve ever seen If it’s not number one it’s in the top five to 10 of greatest catches ever that we saw at the ballpark tonight And that was one I I give credit to Angel fans for being the pure baseball fans that you are It was an amazing play It was for the opponent but tip of the cap to Angel fans who said “You know what I tip my cap to the center fielder Made a heck of a play.” And Angel fans applauding a a really great effort out there by Clark Ironically it was a really good swing from Nolan Showell it it’s not going to qualify for our Halo highlights in this game because well Halo didn’t make the play That being said it was a spectacular effort in center in the first inning with Nolan Showell at tonight by the opener Grant Holman the 25-year-old left-hander who did a good job against the top of the Angel Order Certainly helps when uh you have the second coming of Willie Mays out in center field Just an amazing play by Denzel Clark to rob Nolan Showell of a home run but no score after one no score after two But in the third inning the Angels wasted little time in breaking it open
