tonight they’ve outscored them 60-9 oh one pitch misses a little bit low so the Royals of course swept the White Sox when they were in Kansas City earlier this season and you know these White Sox players are well aware of how hard the Royals have been on them one-1 pitch and a breaking ball misses down and away it’s two and one that count well truthfully some of them might be but there’s also been a good amount of turnovers yeah some some not all have experienced it i’m sure the ones that have not experienced or have been made aware of it there’s a 2-1 breaking ball missing away and now go to the postseason they’re a better team they have better pitching and Chris gets in company they’re kind of building it from the ground up which we know can be painful and it takes time but they’ve course I say it’s hard to imagine them being worse than last year then you look west to Denver and you see a team there that maybe is worse than they were last year that’s ball four to Vargas so Seth men have reached that’s his second walk of the night and here’s Palasios fouling off the first pitch joshua Palasios was two for his last 22 coming into the game but a single up the middle and a run scored in the second tonight can you believe the Rockies are 12 and 50 and they swept what the Marlins this week that’s right and one go set now delivers and he misses outside with his change up that’s a full 25% of their season’s wins in one weekend seth had 62 pitches 37 strikes one and one in the pitch and a swing and a foul off of the plate so Seth’s strike percentage probably isn’t as high as he would like it to be or as his normal standard is benitendi at second vargas at first nobody down seth gets his share of double play balls that’s for sure he could use one right now and the White Socks and they will go home happy it’s a very unfortunate ending to a tight ball game for the Royals they lose 7-2 the Royals are now 33 and 31 the White Socks improved to 21 and 43 it’s the Royals first loss to the White Socks this season and the first time that the Royals have lost to the White Socks since midappril of last year and the Royals got their only two runs on back-to-back homers from Mikel Garcia and Vinnie Pasquantino in the top of the third inning the White Sox got a run in the bottom of the second on an RBI single from Luis Robert Jr he would appear later in the game as well and then the White Sox tied the game with a homer from Mike Tauman in the bottom of the fifth inning and really Stu this game hinged in the eighth inning top and bottom in the top of the eighth inning the Royals had a chance to take the lead a leadoff walk and then a single from Bobby Wit Jr foot runners on first and second with nobody out mikel Garcia attempted to sacrifice bunt but Jordan Leisure picked up the ball and got the force out at third base and then Vinnie Pasquantino hit a hot shot to the right side josh Rohos made a terrific play potentially a game-saving play that kept Bobby Wit Jr from scoring they were able to get the second out and then Salvador Perez popped out foul behind home plate to end the threat so the Royals wasted their golden opportunity meanwhile the White Socks both took advantage of the opportunity they created for themselves and of the opportunities the Royals created for them andrew Benendy led off with a double and the White Sox only had one other hit in the inning luis Roberts go-ahead two-run single but the White Sox do scored five runs on two hits the Royals committed two errors there was also a wild pitch and ultimately that was the difference in the game yeah very unroylike performance I guess if you’re going to do that kind of thing and make those kinds of mistakes get them all out of the way in one game right i mean and then try to turn the page and look toward tomorrow with the day game this is a team of course played a double header and traveled yesterday and they used the entire bullpen yesterday so the bullpen availability of guys was a little bit limited seth Lugo the on the brighter side Seth Lugo in his second start off the injured list took a step forward from his first start off the injured list he went three and a third last time didn’t have a rehab star on the miners three and a third that time five tonight but of course L the hallmark of Lugo and all these starters normally when everybody’s healthy and in a groove is going six seven innings and of course yesterday the Royals needed nine innings from their bullpen tonight they were asking as possibly of they only needed three as a turnout but possibly four innings from their bullpen and Lynch got it done bowling in his second inning work ran into some trouble and yeah that eighth inning was big for the Royals the leadoff walk to India you get that and yet you aren’t able to score and a good job by the by the White Sox in keeping the Royals off the board the White Sox of course energized by this crowd you mentioned the sellout here tonight good to see in the big picture although it didn’t help the Royals tonight but good for their franchise they have a big crowd for for the big promotion tonight and how about Kyle Teal the the rookie for them up from the minor leagues in his big league debut hitting on base right away with a walk single another walk and scored a a run in this game and uh there’s a lot of energy for him coming up uh there’s starter Davis Martin if you want to go back earlier in the ball game there’s even even though Lugo did a good job tonight and he was definitely better than his last time out martin went another inning then beyond what Luggo did as he in effect outpitched him they both gave up two runs but they they got good starting pitching they played they played solid defense and they got timely hitting and they took advantage of another team’s mistakes that’s usually how the Royals win tonight it’s how the White Sox win now for Davis Martin it’s his fourth quality start in his last five outnings six innings he allowed just two runs on five hits and really if you want to hone in on one stat or one set of numbers from this game you can look at the strikeout to walk ratio for both teams white Sox pitching eight strikeouts one walk royals pitching six strikeouts seven walks of those seven walks three of them came around to score including the the second of the five runs the White Sox scored in the bottom of the eighth inning and that really was the difference in the ball game tonight and so the Royals drop the series opener to the White Sox a final score of 7 to2 chance
