How concerning was this Oilers loss in Game 3?
steuart Skinner has allowed 13 goals the first three games of the 2025 Stanley Cup final the numbers across the board not as good as last year’s cup final against the Panthers which as you know ended up going seven florida scored five plus goals in 11 of 20 games this postseason for more reaction to this game three loss by the Edmonton Oilers here is our Evson Oilers reporter Ryan Rashad and our hockey insider Pier Lebrun from Sunrise Florida where they covered the game for TSN guys first two games uh couldn’t have been much tighter overtime double overtime game three it’s a blowout pierre how did Florida dominate so uh so effectively uh because they brought their brand to the rink is what the Florida Panthers did they bullied the Oilers in every each way and you know they took ice away they frustrated the Oilers and eventually this is what happened with Carolina with Toronto with Tampa the blood boils over you get so frustrated when the Panthers find their agame that you come unglued and the Oilers and we’ve not seen this really from Edmonton perhaps not since the early days of the playoffs against LA absolutely came unglued but again credit the Florida Panthers this is what they want to do they don’t want to get into track meet they want to make every inch of vice difficult to earn they they want to they want to make it where you feel like lugging the puck out of your zone is the hardest thing you’ve done all year and that’s what we saw tonight this was Panthers hockey yeah i would say Jay that the job they did on McDavid and Dryidle was was a real solid job tonight like Leon Dryidle did not have a shot attempt in this game he spent six plus minutes on the power play tonight and he did not have a shot attempt in this game that’s Leon Dryidle there just weren’t the number of looks that they normally get in a game like this so the Panthers did a great job of gumming things up you see a huge hit there from Aaron Ecklad on Conor McDavid like this was classic Panthers hockey this was the best they’d played in the series probably the worst that the Oilers have played in this series conor McDavid said after he feels they haven’t really gotten to their game yet and so this is one they’re going to have to just clean from the memory banks jay that was ugly they were bad early they never found their game an awful first undisiplined a disastrous second period this wasn’t close for the Oilers tonight uh you said it Ryan uh probably the worst the Oilers have played how concerned should Oiler fans be about this game three lock well I mean it’s the playoffs and they say that you know one result doesn’t carry into the next and this is a mature team they’ll be able to flush this but I mean maybe concerning in that the Florida Panthers Pierre have really gotten to their formula and I would say the Oilers you know for small points in this series have gotten to their formula but really the Panthers have found their game and so you see stuff like this i mean at this point it’s just throwaway time the Oilers definitely got frustrated right chris Knobblock called this boys being boys making an investment in future games but you know concerning this is a mature group they’ll be able to rebound but the flow of play was not close for most of this game Pier so there’s concern there and imagine a team with Sam Bennett and Brad Marshaw uh and Matthew Kachchuck frustrating the heck of an opponent and this is the recipe it It’s unreal sam Bennett has been under the skin of the Oilers since the drop of the puck in game one but it all came to the surface tonight because the score became so lopsided that Edmonton wanted to settle some scores i mean Trent Federick’s decision to cross check Bennett in the back may come back to haunt him not a very good decision but it’s a night of bad decisions by the Oilers offensive zone penalties too many men on the ice a loss of composure that I’m surprised that we saw from the Oilers tonight only because they’re a veteran team that seems so focused throughout these playoffs on their eye in the prize the last thing I’ll add on that Jay is the discipline issues those penalties in the first period were no good there were multiple penalties tonight a secondary cross check that’s just not needed uh that’s the kind of stuff a mature team should not be doing in a Stanley Cup final the Oilers need to tidy that stuff up and then we haven’t even talked about the goalending situation guys ryan how do you think Chris Knobblock handles that for game four yeah he made it pretty clear in his postgame press conference like he he doesn’t think there was a big decision to be made steuart Skinner is going to go back in the net sounds like uh I was talking to Stu Skinner after the game in the scrum asked him a few questions about his own game he was really honest Pierre like he said there’s a couple I don’t like straight up getting beat so he took responsibility for a few of these then Conor McDavid said that might be a little noble of him but he didn’t necessarily agree so I don’t know what you thought Pierre this was not Skinner’s best night the other guy outplayed him flat out yeah I agree with you and listen I mean the Oilers need Stuart Skinner to basically saw off Broski in this series and obviously wasn’t even close on this night but Skinner’s not the headline here he’s not the reason they lost they I mean they got absolutely sunk before he was pulled but I will say timing is everything in this Stanley Cup final and what the Oilers needed is for Steuart Skinner to stop that shot from Sam Reinhardt when he made it 3-1 the Oilers had just scored in Cory Perry’s power play goal suddenly they’re feeling some momentum and the very next shift yeah great shot i get it but that goal can’t go in because that broke their back after and he flipped it up over the glass too and then ended up giving up the power play goal again so this wasn’t a banner night from Skinner but he owned it jay I mean Florida dominated throughout and even to add the cherry on top Paul Maurice gets his 1,000th win as an NHL head coach like it really was Florida’s night on Monday night guys you were terrific thanks for this we appreciate it

Those goals that hit top corner were not on skinner. Just good goals
What does a cause for concern look like😂hit rewind on game number 3🇨🇦🇺🇸
Oilers must be willing to risk it all 🇨🇦🇺🇸😁
Interesting what will follow in game 4. Florida strong but edmonton with a day to forget.but such days are not new to edmonton they usually reacted strong. Florida in 5 feels at the moment as realistic as oilers in 6 or 7. Hope it stays exiting.
Panthers in 5, 6 max. The Oilers aren't mature enough to show discipline. 11 penalties? Immature and not ready for the cup.
Let's go Panthers!!
I think Skinner needs a break…Good thing he will have one soon after Barkov lifts the trophy again
Will the Leafs be the only team to beat Florida 3 times? Stay tuned
Calling the Oilers a mature team after that debacle last night is hilarious. They are a bunch of toddlers following the lead of their temper tantrum throwing captain.
A good way to tell your goalie is DOG ASS is that your team needs to be ELITE defensively or else you'll get blown out
walman, kapanen, and frederick all likely to get suspended too. considering the thuggery they did, deserved and may better hope the oilers focus on H O C K E Y rather than being pestilent children
play picks and let him bring lord stanley home.
Skinner plug
Nurse a plug.
Kane. A woman beating cuck gambler
Perry. Plug. Can’t fight.
Another Florida victory coming in hot.
Talent in hockey has given way to viciousness. The Florida PANTHERS ARE THE MOST VICIOUSLY AGGRESSIVE TEAM I have ever seen. I refuse to watch further
nurse really useless
I didn't believe stu skinner at all I knew this was coming we loss the cup thanks to skinner
They got suckered into Florida play. Need to stop taking stupid penalties and skate skate skate. Bring the cup back to Canada.
The officials were being biased!! This led to the frustrations the oilers felt during that game. The game was simply unfair
Looks like the Oilers had playoff jitters in Florida.
Connor McDud
Oilers got schlonged
Absolutely is on Skinner. It's not entirely his fault, but his career .894 SV% in the playoffs is not gonna win a cup. No team has won the cup since a long time ago (pre-lockout) with a SV% under .900. Not gonna happen even with McJesus and Drai
Does everyone in here seem to forget when the oilers came back in game 4 last year to beat the cats 8-1? Blowouts happen, even in the finals, no team is perfect, and the oilers did not show up in this game mentally or physically. But this series is far from over. And for those who blame every oilers loss on stu, you know nothing about hockey, or the difficulties of being an NHL goaltender. If the tide was turned and oilers dominated the panthers as bad as they got dominated in that game they are losing just as badly, does not matter who is in net. No goalie is winning a game entirely themselves when the defence in front of them is basically a pylon. Again remember oilers walked all over the cats in game 4 last year and dominated them even worse than this game 3 loss. Oil will bounce back, mark my word!
America is just better. At everything.
Imagine thinking that career back ups like Skinner and Pickard are the answer in net.
They wouldn't make the playoffs in the east
If McDavid and Drai are so good , why do they desperately need each other 5 on 5? Crosby didn’t need Malkin sown to his hip to drive a line and vice verse
Down 3-0 ring any bells or do you smell wood buring
