the starter here while the Nationals send out McKenzie Gore and uh you know both these starters having sub three eras this season and Mackenzie Gore has been a bit of a quality start magnet over the last month plus you know he’s had five quality excuse me four quality starts in his last seven one run shy of a uh a fifth quality start against the St louis Cardinals where he gave up four runs in six and two/3 innings of work but still you know he’s uh he’s been pitching very very well and what’s been different about McKenzie Gore this time around it’s felt like is that he’s actually been a solid option on the road for the better part of his Nationals tenure he has struggled away from Nationals Park and this year while the numbers are higher on the road still a respectable 3.580 RA but what you’d like to see improve is that 293 opponents batting average and that’s going to be tricky here against a Mets team that’s had a lot of success against McKenzie Gore even going back to last year you know the Mets won all three meetings that uh that Gore had against the Mets last season and while he took the loss in two of them and took ended up with a no decision in in another one is still the Mets just sort of had the Nationals number the Mets had the the Nationals number all of last season as well winning the season series 11 to2 now this season Griffin Canning got a start against the Nationals back on April 28th it was five innings of four hit shutout ball as part of a 19 to5 Mets route over the Nationals now I will say that I think Mackenzie Gore is obviously going to keep it a little bit closer than that and Griffin Canning has started to show some signs of regression having issues with control but on the roadie he was decent against the uh the Dodgers in his last start and maybe that was a sign that he’s getting things going in the right direction and the nationals in the last two weeks against righties you know they’re hitting just 238 the team OPS numbers are just below league average the isolated power numbers could be better but also could be worse um but just not enough where I feel comfortable backing them in this spot now the Mets you kind of have to take their recent one run with a grain of salt because their la because excuse me six of their last eight wins entering Monday’s action have come against the Colorado Rockies but they’ve been doing some decent damage against left-handed pitching as of late you know the Mets in the last two weeks against Lefties hitting 238 with a top 10 isolated power ranking top 10 team OPS ranking as well and when it gets down to the bullpens I still feel like I can trust the Mets bullpen more than I can trust the the Nationals the Nationals bullpen RRA sitting at 4.58 over the last week while the Mets around 2.6 so I I’m going to roll with the Mets here i don’t love the money line price around minus 160 but I do think this is a spot where the Mets are just in better form and I think they find a way to get it done here i’m going to take the Mets in this one on the money line and that’s going to be my free pick but just a reminder if you haven’t already make sure you subscribe to our channel and
