Nationals vs. Mets Game Highlights (6/11/25) | MLB Highlights
david Peterson will be on the mound for the Mets he has been nothing short of spectacular 33 starts since last year erra under three he’s become one of the most intelligent pitchers out there one of the toughest pitchers for the Mets every 5 days and he pops one up on the infield pete Alonzo waits for it to come down right near the bag and that’s the first out of the night and Rosario first pitch swinging grounds one out to shortstop and throws him out three pitches two outs for David Peterson swing and a miss strike three got him with a slider side retired terrific start for Peterson needs only nine pitches to cut through the Nationals in order jake Irvin 28 years of age facing the Mets for the sixth time in his career three and two to NMO and he takes the walk now the Mets have a one out base runner irvin does not walk many two and a half walks per nine innings but he issues a free pass ahead of Sodto who all of a sudden is in a Sodtoesque streak swinging a miss and he got him with a sinker foul tipped into the mid of Adams he’s down on strikes two men away and Pete Alonzo coming up he’s had trouble against Urban he’s just one for 13 against this right-hander who has pitched some of his best games against the Mets breaking ball hit to center field hit well young racing back he won’t get there hops up against the wall bubble digging for third he will score as Young has trouble picking it up alonzo stops at second with an RBI double the Mets are leading by a score of 1 to nothing rbi number 63 on the year for Pete Alonzo the major leagues leader second inning at City Field it’s the Mets one the Nationals nothing japarro bounces one toward third mauricio on the charge on the offbalance throw low but scooped out by Alonzo stayed on the bag unusual watch how he backhands it no third baseman plays it like that they play with the glove flat and open he backhands it and then the throw just beautifully picked by Pete who gets hit there by Shaparro who’s like a he heavyweight coming down the line swung on hit high in the air to shallow center jeff McNeel lining it up waiting and makes the one hand catch two men away five up and five down for David Peterson and it’s bounced to third another chance for Mauricio and he grabs it on the back end this time a perfect throw six up and six down for David Peterson with three ground ball outs one away here in the top of the third the Nationals looking for their first base runner and Luis Garcia Jr batting eighth in the order will stand in and he hits one up the middle for a base hit so Garcia who is hitting a 100 against lefties this year jumps on the first pitch slider and bangs it right up the middle for the first Nationals hit double play ball if they hurry the turn by Batty and they double up the speed of Jacob Young that’s tough to do 643 peterson’s faced the minimum through three one- nothing Mets bottom of the third inning working their way through the order second time against Jake Irvin and the curveball thrilled down the right field line toward the corner that’s going to short hop up against the wall lindor on his way to second and he dives in safely with a one out double salad’s trying to add on here for Lindor’s 12th double of the year still working on that broken pinky toe a very valuable appendage but running well so he’s at second with one out for Nemo walked scored in the first inning that’s drilled to right field back goes Call at the wall he makes the catch nice play by Alex Call on the dead run into the mesh and pulls that ball down to retire NMO for the second out two out now sodto remember Sodto’s night last night began with a strike out next time around he had hit a home run the curve ball hit in the air to deep right field paul going back to the wall and it’s out of hand jon Stor for the second straight night a two-run shot and it’s three nothing New York now the Mets are pummeling the baseball in this third inning against Jake Urban sodto gets the payoff with his 13th home run of the year to give the Mets a three nothing lead and did you see the catch by the kid in the stands i did i mean what a great grab look at that going over the railing outstanding play so things have moved along nicely for Peterson mets three Nationals nothing top of the fourth two outs and he chased the change up for strike three so Peterson’s got his second strike out he’s going four scoreless innings mets have a three nothing lead here’s Lindor switch hitter batting left two on two out three nothing New York bottom four hit high in the air to left center field pretty deep young on the run toward the track and left center makes the catch or somebody made the catch so Young got his glove there and so did Wood but Young made the catch to end the inning no runs a walk ahead batsman in two laps brandon NMO leads off last of the fifth but this part of the order has done damage nmo skies one to left center young moving back on the rewarding track back at the out of hand brandon NMO goes the other way for his 11th home run of the season and it’s four nothing New York so Sodto and now NMO have gone deep against Jake Irvin who’s now given up 13 home runs peterson’s been doing his thing you have the line drive by Rosario wood hits one off the end of the bat first and second and Chaparo swings and misses at another slider and that’s the third strike out for Peterson second time he’s got Chaparo struck him out got him with the slider back-to- back strikeouts for Peterson after giving up two hits to start the inning call shoots one down to first blocked by Alonzo he’ll take it himself side retired third time of the last four starts peterson has gotten through seven last of the seventh inning still the Mets four in the Nationals nothing nmo has walked lined out to the track and right and homered as NMO flies this one deep to right back goes back through the wall it’s out of here david NMO with his second home run of the night nmo had a nine RBI game against the Nats in DC in April now he’s got a two home run game against the Nets tonight to make it 5 nothing New York in flushing we go to the top of the eighth inning city Field 5 nothing Met lead over Washington david Peterson tries to become the first Met pitcher this year to go eight innings and this is laced into center field a base hit for Young they’re going to wave Garcia around the throw of the play by Taylor and he’s out oh wow dropped the ball and he’s he’s still out they’re going to say he lost it on the transfer and the Nats down five runs running to an out at the plate they’ll challenge the call well they’re not going to change that the sweep of the tag looked like it caught the top of the hand of Garcia after view the call on the field stands the runner is out so Tyrone Taylor keeps the shut out intact and it stays 5 nothing so now Peterson trying to finish off the eighth inning no Met pitcher has done that this year fly ball right field sodto right there waiting for it david Peterson becomes the first Met pitcher this year to throw eight innings eight scoreless innings for Peterson and a five nothing Met lead peterson starts the ninth inning for the first time in his career he has one complete game in his career that was a rangeen game and Rosario lines one right to Katy at third and that’s the first out uncharted territory for David in his big league career he struck him out two men down six strikeouts for Peterson and now has one more out to get and Chaparo hits it hard batty’s got it makes the running throw and the ball game is over david Peterson with a masterful six hit shut out the first complete game of the season for the Mets and Peterson throws nine scoreless innings and the Mets defeat the Nats five to nothing

It's really amazing what the Mets have done with the pitching staff. Don't tell other teams what you are doing!
At 3:30,Nimmo almost had 3 HR's today!
There have been a lot of complete games recently. We need more!
I love you Juan Soto #22 …. Let's Go New York Mets Baseball 🧡💙⚾🇺🇲✝️
I was at the game tonight. Everyone took notice of that kids catch on Sotos hr. It was the catch of the night.
Great NIGHT FOR PETERSON!!!I though he will not chase the complete game but HE DID IT!!!!
LFGM 💙🧡🗽😤💯
LFGM
Soto Onfire 🔥
i was worried peterson was gonna get taken out after giving up that double late, so happy he got the CG. was at this game, crazy packed on a wednesday!
Guys..guys… do you feel it? This feels good
Soto the goat
that kid made the highlight reel! amazing catch.
Let’s goooo Petersooooooon!!
Wednesday night and Citi was packed and rocking! Love to see it!
OMG! LGM!
The Kid's Soto catch and reaction from fans and announcers was the wholesome cherry on top of this excellent game. 🧡💙 New York or Nowhere!
David Peterson Pitcha Juego Completo Sin Carreras Permitidas
Great performance by Peterson, defense and 3 homeruns, Mets now twenty games over 500!
Soto haters are 🤐 🤐 😂😂😂
This felt like the most complete games of the season so far from this team, definitely one of the best wins so far as-well in my opinion!
I haven't seen a pitcher throw a complete game in two decades
Complete game. Nice to see. I'm a very happy Mets fan. I remember pitchers throwing 15 CG's a year sometimes losing efforts. A different time. I know. What's the next ingredient to add to the sauce in the pitching lab. Simply an amazing job. Lets Go Mets ❤
Seeing Pete Crow-Armstrong in the top of nearly every statistical category makes me want to cry … but the trade was probably as much for a struggling Lindor , signing his best friend . Baez stayed it maybe isn’t a massive F@<k U?
Very impressed with Peterson. He’s come a long way and he is pitching like an ace. I love pitchers going the distance and finishing their games.
Was at the game- typical MLB cutting out the most exciting part when Peterson sprinted out to the mound for the 9th and the crowd erupted.
Despertó la fiera 💪🏽
Soto is back in the house!
Vamos por ese campeonato
You know what Pete's Flexibility reminds me of Keith Hernandez , Pete is the Most Flexible first Baseman . LGM!
Whatever Wheaties the Met are eating I would love a bowl please, LGM!
It’s good to be a winner🎉
What a performance by Peterson! Well done. Good game all round by the team.
Great throw from center to gun down the runner keeping the shutout in order. Masterful pitching.
Peterson has one more year left of arbitration. After 2026, he's a free agent. Steve Cohen needs to think about locking him up early after the season before 2027
Amazing performance. Before the start of the season, every one thought Mets pitching was going to be their weakness, yet so far it’s been their greatest asset. It’s carried them even when the offense is quiet.
