linked to Kevin Durant and the Phoenix Suns all right here today Plus at the very end we’re going to be going through some frosty takes as well But first things first Stephen how you doing um I’m confused Whoa wait wait This is I want this on the record This is the first time that I’ve asked Stephen that and the response has not been I’m great I’m that too but I’m confused before that I’m confused Well it’s trade machine Thursday We usually do them on Tuesday so everything is thrown out of whack Obviously legitimate reasoning behind that with pressure on Tuesday but also there’s so much conflicting reporting going on There is a lot going on Yes All I ask for now I’m confused for others because I’m I’m I’m imagining being a consumer of sports news especially for the Suns and you’re hearing this one day and then this the next day and then this two hours after what you just heard They refuse everything that you heard prior to then And it’s like what do I trust and I say just trust patience There’s going to be a lot of back and forth going on Some of it will might be legitimate reporting Some of it might be false reporting to kind of shift the leverage Everybody has a role to play in this entire circus of NBA transactions to be Just be patient because you will do mental gymnastics and ultimately leave yourself tied up in ways that you can’t untangle yourself from mentally and just not know who to trust or who to believe So just be patient The dust is starting to settle on teams kicking their gears on making moves or at least initiating conversations It feels like it’s inevitable at this point Just be patient because you are going to run yourself tired and it’s barely June right now Yeah I will I will say this It is hard to tell what’s true what’s not There are some very reliable sources out there I I’ll put Gambo in the reliable source category I will put Shams in the reliable source category I will put Flex in the reliable source category Uh not trying to take away from a lot of people Obviously Gerald but Gerald doesn’t dip his toe into that too often Obviously but when Gerald says something I I obviously very much trust it Beyond that take what you see as a grain of salt And I’m not saying that these reporters or personalities can be incorrect I’m just saying that a majority of the time when there’s big news that happens it comes from sources like that So that being said we know that yesterday there was this big swelling of Minnesota and Houston talk and of course over the last couple of weeks it’s felt like the Spurs have been an inevitable destination We did get an update from Sham Serrania earlier today about the state of AD trade Nothing too specific but still worth passing along here today There is traction around trade scenarios for Kevin Durant and there are some teams that are motivated to get this deal done sooner rather than later And now this could be something that lingers closer to the NBA draft Could you get it done a day or two before that June 25th draft potentially but there is motivation on some sides And the focus of the Suns conversations as of the last 24 hours has been around the Houston Rockets San Antonio Spurs Minnesota Timber Wolves Miami Heat and the New York Knicks and Durant is on an expiring contract for upwards of $50 million So it’s going to be the riskreward of needing him and seeing his his buy into whatever team you you you are and you hope that he wants to be long term versus potentially just taking a swing and seeing can you keep him and then compete for a championship sooner rather than later Stephen I’m just so ready Honestly I’m ready for this to be over I know it’s kind of fun and and it gives us content and stuff to talk about but are you as ready for for a trade to happen as I am not necessarily a trade but naturally because it probably aligns with it There you go Eritton It’s the the um the clarity part that I’ve been speaking to since the start of well really since the downfall of the season going into the offseason and the ultimate decisions that have been made so far is clarity clarity clarity clarity um whether trade does or doesn’t happen what it’s going to do is going to give clarity to what it is they’re working towards next season how quickly this retool might take or if it’s going to drag and ultimately what the pieces within it all kind of look like for the roster that I needs to be his best self Carlos says “Same here Eric But with a bee trade I’m not I’m not waiting on edge as much for a bee trade because I don’t expect that really to happen to be honest with you If it happens I’ll be pleasantly surprised.” with the KD trade You know I in 99.9% chance expect that to happen Expect for for that to be going down somewhat soon I just want I want clarity on who the Suns are going to be next season of what they get back for Kevin Durant obviously is a really big part of that I want clarity on who they should be drafting because who they get back is also a really big part of that A huge reason why it it needs to be done before the 25th before the draft So we’ve set the scene Stephen is it time to to dive into some trades yep Let’s get it Let’s do it Let’s start it off with the Miami Heat and the Phoenix Suns Now I will tell everybody this All of my trades that I brought today are two team trades We have three team trades but I thought it would be an interesting thought experiment to go what about two teamers all right so let’s start with the Miami Heat One of the teams that uh that is interested in Kevin Durant reportedly B Entertainment is asking for a shout out Shout out to B Entertainment The Suns get Andrew Wiggins Duncan Robinson Kel Wear the 20th pick in this year’s draft and a 2027 firstround pick from Miami The Heat get Kevin Durant Now this to me Stephen walks the line of still being competitive soft retool soft rebuild Andrew Wiggins is a player that can currently compete in the NBA I I don’t love him as a player but he proved when he was on Golden State that he could fit in on a winning team Kell Wear is one of the more coveted young prospects that I could see in the Kevin Durant trademark Fills a position of need for the Suns Honestly would be their starting center uh next year but can also play the power forward if you do invest in in center a little bit more heavily And and then Duncan Robinson is a expiring 20some million dollars that you could cut and pay half of his salary or you could move as another piece And then there’s two picks a 20th pick and then a 2027 first round pick Too much too little or is it Goldilocks just right for KD um I mean again if this is the trade that ultimately happens it’s not going to be because the Suns want it to happen It’s going to be because that’s where Kevin Durant ultimately decided that he wanted to go next for his uh next chapter in his career So you really don’t have too much say so unless again you loop in a third team But if you keep it one for one in terms of teams involved This is as good as it gets from Miami in particular if it is Durant choosing to go to this destination I mean I think a lot of people would like to see more in terms of player talent Um especially young talent Khlo Wear is a piece but you would probably want to see another piece in addition to him that’s of that same age range So in a different position potentially Yeah It’s funny you say that cuz I was talking to uh one of our other producers Damon who he is a Miami Heat fan A resident Heat fan Resident Heat fan And And I’m going to put it in again but I do believe that this deal works if instead of Duncan Robinson you do Kyle Anderson Haywood Highmith Kel Wear and uh Ple Larson And so you take Ple Larson who is a young prospect for them Let me make sure that that works You might need to cut somebody Let’s see here Nope That trade’s successful So you can do instead of Duncan Robinson you could do Andrew Wiggins Kyle Anderson Haywood Highmith Khloe Wear Pelle Larson and and and the picks also attached That might be better than than Duncan I like that trade more The thing the thing with Duncan Robinson is you can again you can cut him and only pay half of his salary or you can use him as a trade piece as well because he makes a lot and it’s a one-year deal Uh I just want to confir Kyle Anderson I believe is on a a expiring deal as well but he’s making 9 million so not as big of a of a trade ship Heywood Heismith also expiring contract making 5.6 Both of those are players that could play on the Suns this year So maybe that’s a a better a better package Wild Factor says take the second one Uh so I you know I that was a after I submitted the graphic thing but there there’s some room to to maneuver in in the Miami Heat area That’s the that’s the move that I would air on If Durant chooses Miami I would much rather get the younger pieces as well as defensive minded pieces and not just um not just Keller but also Hayward Heismith and being able to pair them also with Larson and to be able to integrate them around Booker I think that makes a ton more sense for the Suns Also obviously getting the picks is very relevant too considering the pieces that we’ve talked about them trying to trade up for if they can get to that 20-ish range Yeah Miami not flush with first round capital Uh they have the 20th pick in this year’s draft They’re they’re trading the 2027 first round pick Now that’s just a lottery pick It’s if it’s beyond the lottery Miami retains and the pick will go to the Suns later So if Miami is in the lottery in 2027 which you’re not sure with with KD they do have a 2029 2030 and 2031 unprotected first round pick they could also throw in there as well So some some maneuvering in there Eritton did you did you like that deal because I I feel like I’m I’m kind of torn It doesn’t feel like it’s enough for KD Yeah that’s the biggest hold up for me is that I just don’t feel like it’s enough for KD Where in the 20th pick is good at least Yeah I don’t know That’s tough Probably You mean like 20 to 29 wise he It’s literally the 20th pick in this year’s draft This draft is pretty deep too I don’t I really don’t hate that pick honestly I don’t know I I feel like with Kel Wear if there was if there was a reddraft of of last year’s draft is is he top five khal let’s let me let me He’s getting close to there He was a very very late bloomer this season So I I mean I think Ree Sache still goes in the top five I think Alex Sar still goes in the top five Stfan Castle goes number one Okay Reed Shepard I don’t think still goes top five Ron Hall in the second I think Khal Wear goes above Ron Hall in the second Tedwan Salon from the Hornets is six Donovan Klingan is seven Klingan was good Rob Dillingham was eight Edy was nine Cody Williams was 10 Modus Bazllis was 11 Mhm Kawwear was 15 I I think you could argue that Kel Wear would be a borderline top five pick And I think he would be your starting center Ashley who asked in the chat I I do believe that that he would be the starting center Um I think I think Devin Carter goes a little bit higher I think Tristan Dilva goes a little bit higher Dilva didn’t have the best rookie year I I think I’d take wear over over Dilva What about over Maselis modus Modus is probably top three Correct Modus is top three Sar’s top three And um Rach is probably top three Oh no Well okay That’s interesting Stfan Castle Okay we’re going too far down that line That’s what I’m saying Yeah I don’t know if he’s top five He’s top 10 for sure He’s close for a top five So we’re talking about adding a sophomore that would be a top 10 pick and was a top 15 16 pick in in a reddraft Uh I want to read a chat from Soul Finton who dropped a super chat then dropped a regular chat following up saying “Can I interest you guys uh on Tai Tai Jerome in a signin trade with the Cavs where we send either Allen or O’Neal i would say and this is with great respect to Ty Jerome who was arguably the six man of the year this past season If Peyton Pritchard isn’t playing on a team that was an all-time great in the regular season Ty Jerome probably wins it in most seasons That being said you have to have a razor sharp roster built around to get the most out of Ty Jerome especially defensively specifically on the defensive end He is not a player that ever lacks heart nor does he ever lack energy He just simply lacks the stature to hold hold up against the types of guards that he’s going to typically be guarding in roster constructs He’s probably guarding twos and threes more often than not He doesn’t have the typical frame to stand up defending in contact situations against those types Now he can get under people’s skin with his activity He’s very smart He thinks the game through preemptively but sometimes it just doesn’t matter if you got someone that’s hunting you Sure And if the rest of the pieces around you can’t insulate you well enough to where you’re just playing one-on-one all the time Now if you dropped 20 but you gave up 25 and your individual matchups whether it be the direct matchup or via switches where’s the impact that’s what he was so impactful with the Cavaliers with their team defensive scheme was so good and he was so good defending within that It also led to offense and him scoring a lot too I like Ty Jerome I I think Ty Jerome fits so much better on like you said it insulated team with an identity like the Cavs I think he fits in with a team that that has a good defense behind him where he can come in as a spark plug Also not sure the type of contract that he’s going to demand and I don’t know if I want to tie that up in in Tyome at this point for the Suns but I’m happy for Tai I’m I’m glad that that he’s been able to to carve a career after obviously you know not starting off too great with with the Suns Sean says “If only we had drafted Ty Jerome.” Yeah if only Oh one more thing real quick and this is on me Okay I did not mention Isaiah Kier when we were talking about players that would have moved up in the draft Well he moved up He wouldn’t be a top five pick He wouldn’t be top five but he would be top 10 and that shuffle that shuffle top 10 I like them I like this season a lot I like I like this season too I don’t know if I’m ready to go like like for sure top 10 when we didn’t even get We didn’t get to see Jared McCain play a full season And we get we didn’t get to see Devin Carter play Bub was still good as well Eve Missy might go top 10 in a reddraft as well Uh where does Ryan Dunn go in a reddraft probably top 15 So uh there’s there there’s a lot of movement from last year and then you you think about it as well Uh and you think okay well you know where the Suns are picking this year they could also get one of those guys that that rises Uh 15 minutes into the show we’re one trade down We have so many going to the Timberwolves in exchange The Suns receive Julius Randall Dante Devincenzo Mike Connley the 17th pick in this year’s draft and the 31st pick in this year’s draft Too high too low or just right Stephen um it’s it’s solid You know what I love in the chat i see a gross No no 100% No no Not bad but feels gross Yeah I feel like it’s more so more so what Lucas is saying because why Mike Connie talk me talk me the money it’s to get so that and that’s the thing with these that these two team deals and that’s why like I I I wanted to kind of go into the two team deals and usually people accuse me of being like the pie in the sky like unrealistic guy right and so I kind of wanted to I wanted to tamper that a little bit and say like what if the Suns don’t get like their their biggest pro their biggest goal right so I for me it was money I’ll go back and I’ll look to see if there’s a way to involve Dillingham But you get 1731 Randall Devenenzo in combination And that’s my thing If you’re not getting if you’re not getting Goar you’re not getting Den or not Denzo you’re not getting um Dillingham Goar or McDaniels It feels like it’s leaving a little bit too much to be desired Sure That’s my thing Also the Sun’s adding a what 35 36 year old point guard Yeah I think he has one year left on his on his deal You’re basically Yeah you’re taking it’s one year $10.7 million Um he doesn’t have the same impact in value for the Suns especially in their current construct than he does with the Timberwolves And I was That’s why I asked why Mike Connley in particular Uh for for me I believe to specifically get it it’s the money So let me just try this trade straight up Yeah that failed uh because the Timberwolves are taking back too much money in that that trade It would have to be Connley if this is the specific framework where you get Randall and Dvenenzo Now I think if you swap out Randall for Gobear it could be Gobear Devincenzo and Connley I think that is close to working I’m not 100% sure Uh but but there is a chance there I I think I think the return is okay I don’t love it I I don’t think that’s like the best peak return that you could get for Kevin Durant But you get Julius Randall who you might be able to reroute for another team or would help you win some games now even if he’s not great You get Dante Danchenzo who’s a shooter and then you get the 27th pick and the 31st or was it the 27th pick what pick was it it was the 17th pick and the 31st pick that you could package all three of those and maybe move to to top 12 For for context Go Bear Denenzo and Dillingham works That might be a better package there Yeah definitely So you could do you could do Go Bear Denzo Dillingham and then the 17th and the 31st pick in the draft Now that’s that’s one that I would I would be much more inclined to being in on Okay now this next trade this is a wild card team This is the Clippers I love this trade I love this trade This is honestly this is maybe the biggest like son’s still trying to win now trade The Clippers receive Kevin Durant The Suns get Ivinga Zubac I always pronounce his name but it’s okay Derrick Jones Jr Bdon Bogdanovich the 30th pick in this year’s draft and the 51st pick in this year’s draft So not crazy draft capital but I think Derrick Jones Jr as a modern wing fits beautifully alongside Devin Booker I think he could play alongside Ryan Dunn and wreak some havoc defensively as well Can play that small ball four Zubots is like the best maybe the best individual player the Suns could get back for Kevin Durant minus if if Trey Young is possibly routed but certainly the best player to fit possible as well You do get another semi firstround pick It’s it’s the 31st pick It’s the 30th pick So it is the end of the first round pick and then you get the 51st pick So you get two picks right near your current pick that you can again package together trade those whatever uh and this year’s draft and get a better prospect I don’t love Bogdan Bogdanovich That is just for the the money to work But I I love the top two pieces in Zubat and Derrick Jones Jr Yeah Um I’ll start with Derek Jones Jr I feel like Zubot is a little bit more obvious from people that have been kind of watching the league past just the Suns Derrick Jones Jr do it all type of uh Swiss Army knife guy that helps teams simply win You need him to play point of attack he can do that You need him to switch and guard fives sure he can do that Especially in reserve units you need him to knock down corner threes knock down wing threes at a at a moderate to above average clip he can do that No problem Need him to play short roll screen for your for your best player to get a a more advantageous matchup on he can do that Play short roll he can do that He literally does everything And he’s healthy for the most part too So he’s a player you can rely on that has it with positional size and versatility that really just insulates everything you want to do for your team Yeah Montana with Zubots with Deon Booker Now you’re really working with something I mean that would be just such a I I think I think Zubots and and Book as a as a pick and roll combo and and Derrick Jones Jr on the wing even Ryan Dunn as well Uh somebody in the chat live from 765 says that Derrick Jones Jr brings nothing offensively Scored 10 points per game last season Shot 35% from three 70% from the line 52% overall field goal percentage He he can grab you some rebounds as well play small ball four I I I think he’s one of those players that Jones is ass Saul says Dererick Jones Jr is ass Uh Dererick Jones Jr is not ass Plus he has a great nickname Uh airplane mode Yeah And he would bring some much needed athleticism to a Suns team that severely lacked it Also hashtag dunks because the Suns just quite literally didn’t have much of any of it last season Yeah I think if I remember off the top of my head KD might have led the team in dunks last season No I I think that’s true which is who else would it have been nobody If Ryan Dunn played more maybe Yeah But yeah I Derek Derek Jones Jr is one of those players when you when you look at what the Suns want to be next season I think he can fit into all of that really well Um I don’t think that he’s asked He again scored 10 points per game on a playoff team this year He would actually I think be a pretty he’d be a pretty big reason why I would do this trade Having a wing of Derrick Jones Jr.’s archetype They can play with Ryan Dunn and not overlap with the ways that Dunn is used offensively but also be able to play off of Dunn defensively in certain in certain lineups And if they can both hit threes Yeah Yeah That’s what you that’s what you’re working with And again we still haven’t seen Ryan Dunn in relevant games If this is a move that puts you in relevant um standing amongst the West if Dunn doesn’t pan out early on because it’s his first goound in those type of scenarios you know that you can rely on Derrick Jones Jr Yeah Andre says “Might have to stagger with Dunn unless his three gets better.” Absolutely But then you’re looking at two good point of attack wing defenders Uh you know and Dererick Jones Jr might be a great mentor for him as somebody who had no offensive game That’s what I’ll give I I do want to say Ay Soldier says “Why not Powell and Zubots?” I avoided Norman Powell for a couple of reasons I I think he’s fun I think he’s a fun player Not a good fit for this team especially if they keep Bradley Beal You just It’s It’s not a good fit Mhm He’s not an incredible defensive player He needs the ball in his hand a lot to score He’s a microwave but he’s he’s just another shooting guard I don’t I would much rather have Derrick Jones Jr and Bogdanovich than just Pal Uh and Pal with the money it’s harder to line up as well Bogdanovich maybe you could reroute to another team but I mean a lineup potentially Stephen if I don’t want Bradley be able to be in the starting lineup but Book at the one Be the two Dunn at the three Derek Jones Jr at the four Zubots at the five Mhm It’s a lot of versatility that um Jordan it’s a lot that Jordan was speaking to wanting from his uh from his main rotation of players He has a lot of that lot of those inner dynamics and the way that those pieces fit together within that fiveman group alone Now would the Clippers do this i’m not as inclined to say no as I maybe would have at the start of the playoffs I just don’t Dude Zubat is so good Yes And you’re not like replacing him positionally as well Like you do you want to trade the youngest best player on your team for somebody who is on an older timeline than James Harden and Kawhi Leonard who are already the two old guys on your team relevant questions I’m just not sure if they say no as quickly as I maybe thought they would Maybe they have a back pocket plan to get something else potentially Another center another center in some in some maybe some two or three team trade that might be coming up soon Zubots is a borderline all NBA guy this year For sure He was a top five center by for my money this past I I I definitely think I think if you get a top five center for Kevin Durant plus a wing piece that can play and two picks in this year’s draft that you can either use or package and move on which is looked at as salary filler for the Clippers if they’re getting Kevin Durant Yeah Like you can do a whole lot worse than that if you’re Yeah I I like that Zubach is the best Zubach is the best center that the Suns could potentially get in the Kevin Durant trade and that’s that potential might be a whole lot lower than other names but he’s the best traditional center his main stay position where he gets a majority of his minutes from Zoo is that dude I don’t disagree I think if they were able to get Zoo that’s a massive win I I think that that makes Devin Booker’s prime or at least the next couple of years of it you you’ve got a core that you can now build around I mean it’s the best center he played with by And I’m not even trying to disrespect Aton I think that even a little bit And I was talking with Damon actually about this but you know Aton for what he was in that 2021 run and when he brought his strengths is clearly the best center that Deon Booker’s ever played with There not even a question about it This version of Zoo would be better Yeah he’s everything that Aiden was in the 2021 playoffs and that stretch in particular and in the 2022 first round against the Pelicans everything that Aiden was in those two stretches Zubach is at his average So and a player that’s gonna punch up because of the attention Devin Booker gets Oh could you imagine the You want to double team Deon Booker we’ll play four on three all game and not have a a not a snag in our process at all on offense No especially if you’ve got a shooter out there as well And and think about think about how Deon Booker could operate with Zoo’s screens Exactly Like Zoo would be the best screen setter he’s probably ever played with The top five screening big in the league Baby minus Aaron Baines Aaron Baines set some hell of a hell of a pick Baines did set some great screens God I I miss Aaron Baines fan club All right I have two more trades both from Texas teams Houston and San Antonio We’ve got trades from you can’t finish shooting 70% at the rim it can give you 11 points a game on five rebounds and four assists and not turn the ball over while also locking down while also locking down multiple of the best the best offensive talents in the league in isolation or switching on to a big and being able to shut his water off For a team that didn’t have defense last season I don’t know why Suns fans are acting like they don’t want someone that can be a almost all NBA caliber defender especially if he has the right coach that puts him in the system and has a center next to him that can protect the rim so he can do all of the versatile stuff that he does on the defensive end And then he’s also going to be a burst of energy for you in transition as well What are we talking about right now it can’t be so mesmerized by highlights dog because the defensive end of the floor is where each of the two teams that just got to the finals this past year against multiple odds got to that point OKC didn’t be wouldn’t in fact if I was San Antonio I would definitely be asking for that That puts San Antonio in a position to get Kevin Durant but also if they want to go and get another top level piece they could very much attach one of the picks that they get from Brooklyn in addition to a Stefon Castle and make some things happen They have they still have flexibility and they also have plenty of cap space because I think that this move puts them at like seven or six guys on their roster going into the offseason So that’s at the draft A lot of options on the table for them Teddy says with the 499 super chat thanks Teddy says “Would y’all be okay if they traded Dunn with KD if it meant you get better deal a better deal more picks or better players?” Uh it would take a lot It would take a lot for me to part with Dunn I’m not going to say he’s untouchable but it would take a lot Uh if you’re able to even make that trade that means that you did something with Bradley Bill prior to It’s true So in that situation I want to see what it is they’re working towards if that trade is the template that they’re using But I wouldn’t I wouldn’t be mad at it I I would be mad I’d rather them keep Dun but I wouldn’t be mad at it I would be mad if they traded Dunn for anything that doesn’t I don’t know I just think I just think he’s one of those guys that especially for the vibes you just you keep look at the Houston Rockets You see the template for what the Suns are getting in Claxton and Johnson We don’t need to rehash that They would be getting Tari Een in this who I think fits very well defensively in ways different from the ways that Sohan would fit with the Suns but would still provide a similar impact A little bit more perimeter oriented than front court oriented but do you think that those three would be a really good front court next to Book Tam and Claxton they could all play together too 1,000% Yep Gives you all the versatility you want on offense and defense In addition to that also gives you blue collar guys three through five All three of them Um Houston gets obviously Kevin Durant Noah Clowny Dariq Whitehead as well as the number 52 pick from the Suns So it’ll be a second round swap that the Suns are getting into with the Rockets here And then Brooklyn will be getting Jaylen Green Jabari Smith Jr Reed Shepard Jo Landel and the number 10 pick I mentioned them wanting to punch up to get into the number 10 That’s exactly what will be going on here You know I like it No nobody is is giving up a top five pick obviously because you you don’t have it Yeah Uh the the Nets have two top 10 picks then at at eight and at 10 The Rockets are are getting KD for Tari E I guess you’re giving up you know you’re giving up Jabari as well which I know they don’t they don’t love That might be a little too much value going out from from Houston’s end This is a caveat I wanted to get to I hope you brought it up So looming with the Rockets they pushed back the deadline for the extension talks with um Fred Van Vleet Obviously if you get Kevin Durant and you’re trading away Jaylen Green you want to keep Fred Van Vleet around you now have put yourself in a position capw-wise to where you can extend Fred Van Vleet still have a little bit of extra money left over to do what you need to as far as transactions to fill out the rest of your main rotation and it gives you a little bit more roster flexibility there So the Rockets clean their books They get the player that they’re targeting most in terms of the best player on the market that’s available that’s not a free agent And they also put themselves in a position to extend Fred Van Vleet who was the spearheader of the identity that you chose to go forward with I think it’s interesting I I don’t think that Houston would want to part with that much but you got to match the salaries at certain point though That’s the thing Yeah you got to match salaries but you still you keep And in addition to that so your starting lineup going into next season is Fred Vanble Amen Thompson Dylan Brooks Kevin Durant and you got big fella big Alp Yeah I I mean that’s still you’re looking for rotation people You still have Cam Whitmore who who will be your super that desperate to make the step now I’m not saying that they can’t in theory be maybe a better team if they they do that You are sacrificing a lot of your future A lot of it But I I do wonder if at the end of the day if the price gets too high Houston just looks at everything and just goes “We can wait a year and see who’s on the market next year right we can wait a year to see the next team Kevin Durant wants to go to It’s not going to hit the same when you ain’t got number 10 though It’s true No it’s it’s true 10 But you will have drafted 10 and so then you have that and maybe you hit on 10 and maybe that changes things as well for Houston I I think if if George says if we give up all that why not go for Giannis i just don’t I don’t think Amen to that You can clip that and make that ever evergreen I’m genuinely not sure what they have going on right now What direction they’re trying to go Are they trying to be a playin team are they trying to ascend to the playoffs are they trying to duck the playin and just be out of everything for a season and get their ducks in a row in some capacity i just genuinely don’t know And because of that I’m not even sure they they do this this deal if I’m being honest I think they’re the team most hesitant It seems like they’re willing to part ways with Lonzo because they were actually able to get him healthy on the court this past season when he was there he showed to be that same player if not a little bit better than he was before he exited the rotation I just don’t know I I think I think you’re going to have to find a way to convince the Bulls Maybe they get a protected future first Maybe a couple more future seconds I don’t think they’re going to part with Lonzo for for practically nothing Uh but if if you can get them that’d be great I am Josh Douglas says Bulls still have Dumu White and Giddy So they you’re right like they do have a a backcourt of the future about Kobe White for sure right now but I don’t think I don’t think they trade Kobe White I think I don’t think so I think you get a lot of value from him I think they keep Kobe White I mean they got to from Washington The Rockets are receiving obviously Kevin Durant And then the Wizards are getting Jaylen Green from the Rockets a 2025 second round pick number 52 from the Suns and then finally a second round pick from Houston Chat likes this one I I would say I’m going to go back on Houston’s end and say are they giving up too much draft value here from their perspective now you’re not giving up Tari E but you are giving up two extra first round picks in and 27 28 plus the 10 pick as well But George Young who’s a Rockets fan says this ain’t bad Uh what do you feel about this trade Stephen suns get P Smith Jr Landale a couple first round picks in a second Rockets get Katie Wizards take a shot on Jaylen Green in some seconds I think this is probably if I had to give it a title this is the we now have opportunity to get off of Bradley Bill in ways that we did not have prior to this trade happening while also getting a player like Jordan P who’s a combo guard for sure He’s not specifically a one but he’s also not specifically a two Um he’s probably in his best role as a six-man a super sub in some capacity Um you obviously get Jabari Smith Jr but I continue to go back to the picks The 27 first round pick 28 first round pick 26 second round pick You probably use two of those three to get off of Bill and put your books in a much better position I’m not using both of those I can’t That’s where I’m at I can’t do it I can’t do it I hear you I can’t I can’t do two I can’t do two first round picks to get rid of Bradley Beal I can’t I’m imagining one of those two in the second though Not both first to be I’m imagining one first and one second future in 27 and 28 as well as Beal You get the number 10 this season and you get to do whatever you want with that detriment of your team success going forward because you have the 10 as well as Jabari Smith Jr to go with Dooker Farra says at this point why not hold the picks eat contract for a couple years and reset that’s that’s my thing If you’re going to go full reset with a trade for KD are you just going to immediately then step on that reset to get rid of Beal and still not be competitive you got to get out of Capilloo Yeah Yeah You But you you trade and I listen I don’t like Bradley Beal on this team Like I’ve been very clear with that But what you trade Bradley Beal and now two future first round picks to get rid of him and then you have your core of Jordan Pool Devin Booker and no picks now cuz you sent them all with Beal and and and what yeah you’re out of Capell but you’re not doing crap with that roster You have you have the 10 for this season for one for two with me You’re because of Bill’s contract being as big as it is if someone’s willing to absorb it to get one of those picks that you’re using with him you have to get talent in return to match that contract Yeah So you’re building out your roster is what I’m getting at because something you’re getting a of value from Bill All right let’s keep it rolling here Another trade second to last one Arrington Second to last trade We got the Suns getting hashtag aligned with Draymond Green and then Dante Devincenzo They’re also getting Buddy Heield Rob Dillingham number 17 this year number 41 this year and a future 2026 first from Minnesota Timberwolves getting Kevin Durant And then the Warriors are getting Rudy Goar number 52 this year from the Suns and a future second from Minnesota Eric you’re getting a wide reaction from your trades And this one is is when people are saying gross Sun’s getting Draymond That is hashtag aligned uh Draymond some shooting and then some young guys Stephen Rob the 17th pick and the 41st pick in this year’s draft and then a future first round pick So some young some old for Katie Now my my thing for this one Stephen and and let me know if you agree is why would the Warriors do this i guess Go’s technically younger but I I don’t think they trade Draymond for Rudy Gobear Yeah dealing with Utah they better be getting one of those two bigs back One of those two starting bigs back Be Kesler or Lowry I don’t Yeah this one this one is not This one is I This is bad I think it’s not enough value for KD Yeah that’s my that’s my only reason why I brought that I don’t hate it But this is not a bad framework though Put it back up on the screen there for everybody to see there I Ston I think I think fits but I don’t think that he’s like really helping you a ton Uh Kellen Johnson fits same way I think Soan is maybe the best piece there Plus 14 Yeah I I don’t hate it I I would say I liked your I liked your Suns get the smorgesborg of players uh in Kel Wear Lonzo Wiggins I like that one the most Then I would do the Suns get Jordan Pool Jabari Smith and a bunch of picks second Then third I would do the Suns get Draymond in picks and I put this one fourth But I I don’t I just wonder I wonder like I think Utah does want to get off of Sexton to make room for their younger guards to give them more minutes give them more usage expedite their development I wonder if they want more in return though because they’re taking that Yeah Not for Sexton but for taking on Harrison Barnes Well yeah I mean you’re taking on Harrison Barnes but you’re not competing and you’re getting a first round pick which you know Danny A hasn’t hard on already just hearing about that And and a second round pick I I wonder if if you’re the Suns out of this if you can get some more future draft capital out of San Antonio I think you had some future first round picks in there and and George asks “Is Kell Johnson nice like that?” He’s a nice piece I would not say he’s nice like that not the type of guy that you expected when he was playing for Team USA when he was super young He final thoughts on a on a a spicy edition of Trade Machine Thursday here on PHX Suns i will continue to to say and this is not me speaking in source this is me listening to what’s being said seeing templates for what’s worked and seeing how that could potentially be brought into the Suns team context Versatility in the front court Probably the last four weeks when we’ve been doing trade machine Tuesdays or sometimes trade machine Thursdays There’s been a whole lot of versatile bigs that I’ve been looking at There’s like a laundry list of seven or eight names that have kind of floated through that rotation of pieces I’ve been speaking to If the Suns can get their hands on two to three of those guys in trades that involve a Durant or potentially a Bill in some capacity I think they’re set up for success going into next season that will result in a playoff um in a playoff finish in some capacity Take that for a retool Retool and you rebuild your defense from the ground up and you allow for that to spearhead your identity for offense led by Devin Booker That’s a template for success that we’ve seen before Yeah I I definitely think so Uh BS says you were whooping us in your trade proposals Quality over over quantity there Wow factor rephrase your question I’m not sure exactly what you’re asking So rephrase that I’ll ask I’ll answer that in a second The same Mike says you win And then when he gets back Stephen you you found yourself being somewhat wrong which I had a hard time doing last week I told you I I’m not above being wrong in any capacity Sometimes the merits on which I’m wrong might look a little different It might not be directly what I was speaking to but that’s exactly what we’re going to see in this clip that we’re looking at today So u as we let Arrington kind of get back resettled in uh let’s take a look at my um let’s go frosty cuz it’s not completely frosty but my frosty frosty call it frosty from prior to the season starting actually obviously adding a a point guard and basketball player in general but the acumen and IQ that Tus Jones has is going to just up the level of IQ of the the entire fiveman group that’s on the floor but also help organize them more consistently than they did last season And I think having those things is going to naturally unlock Bradley Bill who for last season um was 95th percentile in terms of points per shot when he was taking catch and shoot opportunities That’s not something the Suns generated to the extent that they desire to last season because the ball got sticky quite often I think having Ty Jones is going to solve a lot of that And if you can get Bradley Bill who shot 45% on catch and shoot threes last season to also get the layers of slashing in addition to mixing in blending in on ball reps what do you do with this team like that’s a genuine question And I would love this I’m going to love kind of bookmarking moments over the course of the season with this unit in this particular context Well what I what I came short on which I probably had just too high I was probably a little bit too high on the offensive process that Mike Benhoer would establish And it’s not necessarily plays it’s not necessarily the personnel it’s more so the principles Spacing was very static teams could could comfortably load up on Devin Booker could take away things from Tai Jones if they wanted to in pick and roll because players that they knew spacing wise around their pick and roll around their drives will all just be static So my frosty part of that comes from not the players assessments but from valuing Benho’s deemed offensive process approach more than anything else Listen we could go back and pull I mean last week we did a bootener preseason take Now we can’t pull a ton from our pre- preseason because neither Stephen and I were fully on the show during the summer So uh we can’t go pull those but uh we uh we have a lot of frosty takes The the funny thing is I went back to to some of our recent shows and it’s just very funny because it’s like we’ll we’ll pose this like question and I’ll be like do you think the Suns could you know they might have figured it out and then all of us are just like god no like there’s no chance and it’s like oh well there’s nothing frosty about that Um all right I think that about wraps it up Uh Lucas says come on give give me an
