Dak Prescott: Grateful for the Opportunity | Dallas Cowboys 2025

just talk about the importance of CD being here not being here last year and also your relationship with Pickicket it seemed like you guys have gotten a fast chemistry there yeah I mean um it’s valuable CD being here i mean it’s hard to even put in comparison him being here the work we’re able to get versus last year versus uh him under the you know the contract negotiations um but just to have him here having these practices um getting off to a good start understanding each other what we’re trying to accomplish uh has been monumental and then obviously adding GP um something that’s been monumental and I’ve said it before uh when you bring in guys like that talented guys guys I’ve played with over the years that you look at their resume and they’re winning there that I mean that’s credit to them they make that process of me getting to know them that much easier they know how to make get separation uh they know how to win at the ball u for me it’s just about learning their bodies and um just making sure communicating a few things for him so much was said about GP and his reputation come out of Pittsburgh what have you noticed about him just not on the field but off the field the type of person he is and how you guys interact in this locker room yeah I don’t think that’s why you should ever really listen to what somebody else says about somebody i think you should judge everyone from not judge but find out for yourself who they are and allow them to um reveal them their character to you um the guy’s been great he’s been phenomenal it’s a guy that loves football loves his teammates he’s been excited every day um that he’s been there he’s been early um so no concerns on on the personal um matters of GP and and anything about it just super excited that he’s on our team he’s uh he’s one of us and he’s a brother and just about continuing to grow and making sure that we’re putting the best out there and uh that’s his approach when you take your trip here I assume you do with the skill guys who doesn’t a lot of times now is there more importance on that because you know you’re you’re still getting to know pickings you got CD back here what with that and what is what do you try to get out of that weekend that you guys are together yeah I mean it’s just after we break here for a couple of weeks and then um before we get back for back together for a couple of weeks just want one check in on guys right just get them all there make sure that they’re in shape doing the things that they need to do uh they’re seeing the ball that’s one big part of it i mean you can catch a lot of jugs you can catch passes but you want to catch them from you catching them from the quarterbacks and then last lastly there’s that camaraderie um getting those guys together like you said getting George here just in the last couple of months know him right we’re growing but just getting to know him uh better deeper getting to know all the guys uh especially with a new receivers’s coach right these guys are coming in trying to change little things and little nuances that that just gives them another time to work together um so super excited about the trip you’ve had a handful of play callers here now that this offseason program is wrapping up what do you kind of see shaping for the Shotimer offense what are some things you’re excited for about it yeah just I mean his approach um yeah I mean he’s he spoke on it I believe a good bit on the team that we’re we’re going to be the way that we’re going to uh go in and attack attack defenses be aggressive run first um open up the actions and things like that so um for me it’s just about right going back and um looking at the the past games and seasons that he’s called and I mean they’ve been very they’ve been successful so so um I’m super excited about it just ready uh to get to it how much opening up the action is the emphasis for your your game off this game huge um something I’ve always um loved doing i think you can go back and numbers are usually pretty good and run action play action so um but that’s probably any quarterback right you got to establish the run first and when you do that just you get the one-on- ones we’re allowing GP to be 101 CD to be 101 Ferg and when you can do that um we’re going to have the upper hand you told us in the past about liking pre- snap motion just because sometimes it can give you some tells on the defense shotti’s said that’s kind of what you guys are employing a bit more what is your standpoint on it now that you guys are putting it into camp and into OTAAS and all that yeah I mean um it’s not something that we haven’t done before um it’s just about being the matter of when we utilize it how we utilize it it always depends on the defense it depends on whether they’re they’re changing up whether they uh change their calls on the motion and things like that so um it’s just about us doing it the right time tagging the right time but more important than me the receivers and you can see how dialed in they are to it given communications of what they’re seeing as they’re in motion um it’s just uh it’s great for all of us seeing pre- snap open some things up you talk about establishing the run what are your thoughts on Javante Williams Miles Sanders Jaden Blue through the offseason yeah great group i mean starts with their coach uh FSY’s done a great job with those guys um Deuce as well Hunter right all of those guys making sure they’re prepared um and they’ve they’ve come in and and attacked honestly I don’t think we’ve ever It’s not like we’re redoing things or because of the backs or you know these guys aren’t getting it right they’re professionals right you’re talking about guys who who have had pretty good careers and looking here to take it to the next level um so those are two guys just excited for their opportunity and some young guys who are going to make some noise has it been a fast 10 years for you or super fast super fast is it hard to be reflective on that because you said super fast no it’s not hard to be reflective um I think you have to um especially with how they’ve been some right being injured uh some getting getting to knocking on the door and not and not not finishing it um yeah you have to and I think what what it does really is um just makes you grateful for the opportunity every every day you get to walk into this building you’re healthy every day you get to approach your teammates you get to approach this game that you love um so for me it’s about not taking anything for granted living in the moment soaking up everything and just making sure I’m the best version of myself to push these other guys to do that and I know we’ll feel good about the results along those same lines going into the training camp break again how does this feel different if at all from some of the previous years going into the break as a team as myself yeah I mean just experience i mean you get older otaas just the way that I’ve been seeing in mini camp um the communication with Shotti with the quarterbacks uh our quarterback room um just a lot of good things a lot of really good things that um have me in a in a in a great place uh I’m healthy um excited as hell the question asked of Tyler Smith and obviously Sean Himer but as the quarterback what are you seeing from Tyler Giden as he attacks here too and Tyler Brook incoming at Rock very very excited and pleased with their approach and the way that they’ve taken this off seasonason um I spoke about Book before but then guidance made a huge step and it’s it’s in the mentals it’s in his approach it’s in his preparation it’s in the way that he’s taking care of his body working out um and practicing so um not going to be surprised with the jump that he makes this year um because I’ve watched every step in the process that he’s put into this and excited for him the health the health aspect feel pretty good after all the offseason program yeah definitely do um as I said all right got to start it early so that that’s a big part of it um and yeah where I’m at now feeling great going into this uh I don’t want to say break but ramp up I guess you can say with some with some family time before we get into camp d we’ve seen you kind of have that connection with Jake Ferguson on the scene ball he was talking yesterday about how he’s never really gone a full year without a touchdown before last year how much has that trust been building and what’s the relationship like between you and him right now yeah our relationship’s great um I think if I probably finish that season out he’s going to get a touchdown um so yeah it sucks though i can’t I mean that’s a guy’s competitor he wants to win has a high standard so yeah I know a year like that um is only pushing them and and I’ve seen in the way that he approaches he’s approaching this off seasonason and attacking everything the details the question he’s asking our relationship is only growing um he’s a he’s a talented guy he’s an enforcer on this offense and um we need him as you get older in this sport Jojo as you get older brother be safe as you get older in this sport how much do you think about the legacy I’m leaving with this franchise because obviously this franchise is judged on championships yeah I want to win a championship um the legacy the things whatever comes after I finish playing will will take care of itself uh I want to win a championship be damned if it’s just for my legacy or for it’s for this team for my personal being uh for my sanity um yeah the legacy will take care of itself i I have to stay where my feet are in terms of personnel and scheme how much better do you think this offense will be this season yeah I mean starts with personnel uh the changes we’ve made and not just offense but defense as well bringing in people i mean obviously with George adds um really opens up all those other receivers right some of the guys we’re looking for who’s gonna be the two i mean I think it just gives them a a little safety net in the sense to to go earn and just to go play free and um go make a huge jump guy guys like like Mingo and Tolbert and um yeah the way the backs have approached this thing uh I’m super excited i mean I know we’ve made some some some changes i said as you said personnel and then the scheme that’ll just come with it uh I think Shotti’s done a good job with this mini camp of putting guys in the right places putting guys in space and seeing allowing guys to see how he’s going to use them does he seem like a first time NFL head coach to you no and I think when you’ve been an assistant for for 30 years it’s a it’s a that’s the reason he he he doesn’t seem that way and uh he’s doing a hell of a job what are you going to take from this off seasonason that it started earlier from you into this coming season uh I mean just that that I’m healthy i mean it’s been a it’s been a great offseason it’s going to continue to be a great offseason until we get into camp so um honestly just the momentum just staying healthy in the momentum of this mini camp these OTAAS and making sure that that I’m not the only one who keeps that momentum but but the rest of the guys and making sure some of these young guys are doing the things necessary and taking care of their bodies uh to hit the ground running when we get together in July this point of this point of the off season is probably most time you get to be away even if it is just for a little bit between now and start training camp how much has this changed for you obviously children now compared to maybe your first few years yeah I mean um I mean main thing is the main thing and um the family knows and makes sure that that I work out take care of my body do the things necessary so that that’s not going to change and so I mean after my training after I do uh what I have to do um yeah be a lot of family time a lot of time with the girls some traveling and um month here I’m looking very very excited about and looking forward to has fatherhood changed your perspective on what all of this means i mean you talk about legacy but weekend yeah um I’m blessed i mean I’m blessed i’m blessed to to have the opportunity to to raise two girls alongside my fiance to have a beautiful family um healthy family uh for me it’s just about being grateful and and and not taking a moment uh for for granted when I’m with them um but I’ve been through things in my life that that that I don’t necessarily think fatherhood just showed me something new um I understand the love my mom had for me right in a different way now that I have kids um but I think when you’ve had some of the adversity that I’ve had you’re so thankful you’re so thankful for everything that you’re given good and the bad anything in between that um fatherhood’s no different now and just makes me even more focused on the small moments on that you feel like you found your dad groove going to door to number two oh yeah yeah i’m uh Yeah I’m I’m rolling i feel good some of the premier edge rushers in football who aren’t signed or not participating in their camps how much do you appreciate the approach that Mike has taken yeah um yeah a lot of approaching not that’s not to knock any of those other guys those situations are all independent and different and I’m sure Mike would feel the same way don’t compare him and you know um Trey or whoever else it is that we are all very confident that Mike is going to get this deal done um it starts with Micah and Jerry and I think they’ve both alluded to that obviously it’s a situation and position that I’ve been in a couple times so um he understands the weight and just doing the everything in between there uh the right way okay thank you D awesome thank you take care

Dak Prescott spoke to the media following minicamp to share his thoughts on the first month with George Pickens, why he takes the skills players on a yearly offseason trip, his thoughts on the running back room, his mindset on the legacy of his career, and more.

  4. Ahhhhh yes PUKESCOTT, TOP 6 QB from September- christmas…. then hes as Kyler Murry would say or shady McCoy
    Asssssssssssssss
And im a die hard boys fan, just NOT ONE that drinks the Kool-Aid

  5. I love how people constantly go to his playoff success. Like and?! Bruh Lamar Jackson and Josh Allen haven’t even made it to a Super Bowl, SYBAU🤣 it takes a damn team to get it done and last I saw Mike McCarthy was a terrible play caller. We don’t want to talk about that though do we

  6. Idk how this overrated pos has the nerve to show his face around this organization after the trash he put on film last year … And he always takes that maximum contract possible so I know he doesn't give a shit about this team's ability to field a capable roster.

  7. Last 2 minutes got me choked up. Anyone can dislike Dak the football player, that's fine, but to dislike Dak the human….. I can't get behind that. GO COWBOYS & GO D4K!!

  8. I’ve been asking for like a week or two for us to get some interviews with these running backs we already know with George Pickens is CeeDee Lamb are gonna do we need to get a idea of the mentality that these running backs can come with because that’s gonna be the determining factor if we make it far or not.

  9. Blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah

  10. Cowboy Nation, I know he can take us to be Super Bowl Champs. Of course he’s not gonna do it alone. He needs the team behind him to bring that trophy home. He’s got about four more shots in his contract. He just needs to do it‼️🔥 It’s been 10 years with D4K at the helm.!! until then all the nice talk. The wind blows it away. I’m optimistic. I know we’re way better than last year.
