MLB LIVE🔴 Milwaukee Brewers vs St. Louis Cardinals – Jun 12, 2025 | Full Game MLB 2025 EN VIVO
just about ready to go getting the nod on the mound Aaron Savali and Singi we were talking earlier about how he’s doing a great job navigating through tough spots well it hasn’t been a great year so far in terms of erra but he’s had some decent games and there have been some flashes of greatness if you will we’ll see today if he’s able to get ahead of hitters and perhaps get some swings and misses put himself in a position to bring that erra down because you know in the back of his mind beyond the W he wants to have a better earned run average lars Nbar the leadoff batter as he looks at ball one that smash towards center chio makes the catch and there’s one down take a look at the lineup a guy who’s been huge for them over the last month plus brendan Donovan yeah Boog he’s hitting better than 300 just doing a great job of putting the bat on the baseball you know he’s seeing it well you know he’s trusting his hands just seems to be like he’s in a groove all the time and I know that’s a great feeling i had it at stretches in my career but a big lift for his teammates to have a guy like this in the lineup mason win now in the box comes up empty with a swing there right through there for a strike [Applause] swings and misses struck him out well that event seemed to be over as soon as it started three pitch strike out you’ve got to be better at the plate right there at least to foul something off extend that at bat brendan Donovan stands in now and watches strike one two out space is empty [Music] and that’s pushed foul off to the left and out of play this guy at the dish excels in two strike counts got to be careful with him out there on the mound and he couldn’t hold back he’s rung up on strikes redbirds down quietly and now the Bruins will get their first cuts no score it’s Major League Baseball on the show back here in Milwaukee and for the Cardinals here this afternoon Riley O’Brien what do you look for here well you know this guy wants to be better than that i mean the ERA is bloated he understands that he’s got to put his team in a better position to win ball games and at this point you have to forget about your own individual stats and you have to go out there and attack and try to get that W and if you do that you’ll look up and most likely that erra will have dropped over time jackson Torio the leadoff batter as he looks at ball one [Applause] and that’s outside and the count is 2 and 0 back to back breaking pitches away you get the feeling as a hitter that the pitcher is afraid of you that he doesn’t want to challenge you so I think the confidence level is raised right here and another ball [Music] [Applause] and that’s in for a strike well as a hitter you’re hoping that the command on that sinker doesn’t come until later in the ball game but if that’s how it’s going to be all day it’s going to be a tough one for the offense and that one lifted in the air center field no trouble here puts it away for the out what a way let’s take a look at the Brewers lineup the challenge for this lineup today Singy finding a way to have success against the sinker ball yeah it’s a tough pitch to hit Boo and even harder to elevate got to set your sights a little bit higher when you’re at the dish they’re struggling with it i’d expect them to make some type of adjustment it won’t take long to see how well that sinker is working today and a liner out into right center for a base hit so a man aboard now with one away [Applause] and now it’ll be Christian and there’s the strike just missed that’s Chopper right side here’s Win for one what a double play that was inning over first frame of the night behind us and it’s nothing nothing back here at American Family Field top of the second and up to hit is Wilson Contrarus contraras goes 6’1 240 lb and he was born in Venezuela savali back to work and that’s in there at the knees man i mean nice job just presenting it to be better than it actually was strike two this guy’s got such a good sinker as a hitter you’ve got to look up in the zone if you look down you’re going to be chasing stuff in the dirt fans another three straight strikeouts well that’s a curve ball that I’m sure he wants back at the plate two strikes the sort of pitch you’re hoping for a bit of a mistake and I’d say in a very hitable location but clearly the break was enough to get him to swing through it ivon Herrera in the box here lets that one go for a ball second inning here no score [Music] hammered down the right side but foul so a foul ball makes it one and two make it four strikeouts in a row just cruising along oh he’s really dialed in and this offense is going to have to do something to try to break that rhythm maybe it’s square around the bunt step out of the box agitate him a little bit do something that just changes what’s happening right now because at this pace it’s going to be a long game so you got to figure it out quickly two down and it’s fouled away way high there and the count is one and two [Music] and that’s in the dirt well he might have to look for a different putaway pitch right here too two he’s already seen the curve ball a couple of times in this at bat so might have it timed up and ready for it goes down swinging for the strike out and he strikes out the side for the second time today impeccable command in that one three batters three strikeouts that’s electric stuff out there on the mound and we’re back now here is Reese Hoskins the first baseman Reese Hoskins that’s inside looks like he was trying to get to the front door with that curve ball it’s definitely a finesse pitch but it backed up a little bit on him and stayed inside [Music] and that’s off the inside edge and that’s ball two had some cut action to it velocity pretty good on that slider so far moving the ball around nicely [Music] that one misses so a lead off walk that just came apart right there four pitch walk and got the plate it was not going to help him out by swinging at something out of his own d Cameron at the plate worm burner into the outfield for a knock throw back in quickly first and second now with nobody well that started and ended pretty quickly no messing around right there i really like that swing man he didn’t just push it the other way through the infield he drove it that way and it kind of makes me think he was thinking opposite field as he stepped into the box got a pitch he liked and he got it done runner in scoring position now and a good opportunity to push across the first run of the ball game selick in the box now takes strike one hoskins the lead runner out at second cameron at first with no outs [Applause] way to lay off that pitch down [Applause] that one ran inside almost got him good spot for the hitter definitely has the advantage in this count with runners on look for him to be aggressive on this next pitch [Applause] highfly ball on that one curling foul down the right side instead of letting the hitter get his arms extended tied him up a little bit slightly up slightly in drilled in the air out towards right center and that is a big first out batting seven the third baseman Caleb Durban here’s the rookie third baseman in the grand scheme of things this at bat might not feel important because it’s early but it could create a domino effect for things to come control what you can here and have a strong at bat slider misses outside the last thing he wants is to hit the ball on the ground but I wouldn’t expect many pitches up in the zone they’ll be pitching for a double play in this spot close one doesn’t get the call and now two and 0 runners at first and second with one gone bottom half of inning number two and a swing and a miss knowing that the pitcher wants a ground ball double play opportunity here you’ve got to lay off pitches down in the zone right there swinging at that pitch that’s a no no and downstairs Joseph Ortiz in the on deck circle hoping to get a chance to make a big impact here two on one out edge of the zone call the strike and the count’s full definitely got the hitter conscious of the pitch inside really think the outer half is open keeps the effect going with a foul ball over [Applause] in the air right field and it stays there water around third he will score and they take the lead it’s an RBI single one- nothing that’s a good jump right there got two strikes on you just got to battle joseph Ortiz up now for the Brewers good defender he’s been inconsistent offensively and that finds the mark on the outside corner that’s strike one [Applause] the pitch on the ground is second might be two there’s one their second double play already this one ends the second inning but the RBI single pushes across a run it’s now a one- nothing ball game you’re watching Major League Baseball on the show and welcome back to the ballpark new inning getting started and stepping in for the Cardinals Alec Burlson high in the air out to right and it’s caught for the batting the second base Nolan here’s Nolan Gorman inside just missed one ball go straight one out base is empty [Applause] foul ball still a one and two count that wasn’t an easy pitch to hit it’s much easier to do damage against mistakes but that’s not what that pitch was misses it’s a strike out really love the pitch sequence right there i’m telling you what pitcher and catcher on the same page right now and up next for St victor Scott and the first pitch misses for ball one two outs and that is out of play now one missed two balls one strike foul ball there two down to outside low and now it’s three and two two strikes center field chorio under it he’s got it and that’ll do it bottom of the inning now at the plate Bryce Terang he’s going to finish with a new careerhigh in stolen bases chris [Applause] in there at the knees for a strike no ball one strike laced in the left that’s a base hit so now back to the top of the order he was all over that one really good swing right there he got a pitch that he knew he could handle allowed himself to stay back just a tad bit longer and he hit the ball on the screws so the lineup flips over jackson Chorio up now for the Brewers down and away for ball one and another ball this is one of those situations the infielders have to pre-plan and understand that the ball’s got to be hit extremely hard right at them if they’re going to have a chance to go for a double play [Music] good hitters count the two terra aboard here at first with nobody out [Music] puts it in the air out towards left center scott on his way over he’s got it and there’s one away every day during batting practice these outfielders get about 10 minutes of balls in the gaps they practice this and when the game comes they make the play perfectly and now it’s William Contrarus one for one with a single so far check on the runner terra back on the dive liner base hit they get it in quickly so first and second down now one out a late jump and I think that was the difference on the play it’s not always easy seeing the ball off the back something to improve here’s Yelich at the dish he hit into a double play his first time off that’s in there strike one here we go hit on the ground might be two here’s Wind for one over to first that’s what a good sinker is designed to do get a guy to roll over a little bit hit the ball on the ground kill some worms while you’re at it and the batter now is Reese Hoskins he reached out a walk his first time [Applause] and that’s downstairs and outside he hasn’t wanted to challenge him both of those pitches off the plate away don’t expect anything down the heart of the plate you may just have to be patient and take your walk here two on two outs swanging a ball lifted in the air right field he just missed it burlson makes the play and the inning is over brewers strand a couple but they hold a one- nothing lead back here in Milwaukee and here is Lars Nar Newbar swing and a miss as he was late that time he’s pitching well but not throwing a ton of first pitch strikes usually doesn’t work out for success but you can never predict baseball you know these cards as this game goes on have to be more disciplined at the plate so many of their outs have come from weak contact on pitches they’re chasing outside of the strike zone you can’t do much of anything with those locations and that’s been true again today next offering is downstairs and as a pitcher when the hitters are swinging at everything you feel no need to challenge inside the zone you just keep working the corners and expanding that strike zone and beyond and they just keep eating right out of your hand fouled off again and it remains three and two catcher tosses the mask settles under it makes the grab one down mason Win next up for the Cardinals went down on strikes his first time through he’s someone that you might not describe as having elite level speed but he can absolutely move and it is a factor in his game in the dirt and that is ball one boo this guy’s definitely a plus runner but what I love about him is that he goes all out every single time never takes a break it’s guys like that even though they don’t have the elite speed the fact that they’re consistent with it they make moves on the base pads two down the batter the designated hitter Brendan Donovan next up for the Cardinals he struck out swinging at his first at bat that’s off the inside corner and that’s ball one that one pushed to the left and fouled the Cardinals still looking for their first hit in this one ripped to third but handled and that’ll end the inning and down in order go the Cardinals they still trail one- nothing bottom four now for Milwaukee daz Cameron daz Cameron [Applause] right through there for a strike and that skips in the dirt [Music] [Applause] the 1-1 is fouled off and the one two misses to even the count got him swinging oh we see it a lot more these days than we ever did when I played but a slider in the 90s still catches your attention even if you’re sitting on the pitch good luck recognizing that tight spin and adjusting to the late break and now here’s a speed threat outfielder S Freelick on the ground of first contrarus he’ll do it himself already two gone here in the home fourth good sinker in the zone right there and produced exactly what he was looking for ball on the ground nice ground out now the third baseman RBI single his last time up first pitch doesn’t find the zone pretty good job on the mound in this one sigy it feels like we’ve seen a lot of offbalance swings yeah just one free pass and uh obviously he’s not a big strikeout guy but he gets soft contact and he gets outs and that drops in for a strike all sliders so far in this at bat to get ahead in the count and clearly shows there was a game plan in mind for how to attack him in the box this to third sends it across to first and Milwaukee is set down in order nobody left for Milwaukee but they’re on top one- nothing we go to the top of the fifth here comes Wilson Contras cadras [Music] savali back to work pitch misses ball one you know these Cardinals they’re not going to be happy with the at bats they’ve been having so far we’re in the back half of the game and they’re still searching for a base runner he’s been great out there on the mound no doubt but it’s also been a disappointing performance at the plate to this point swinging a ground ball up the middle sends it to first and the lead off man set down in their half of the fifth and as we get deeper it’s not going to get any easier these at bats are going to feel more and more desperate with every out the rest of the way and now it’s Ivon Herrera struck out swinging his first time herrera in his second season 24 years old and he was born in Panama one down bases empty that one hooked foul [Music] [Applause] blows the high pass him that’s a strike out showing some pretty dominating stuff out there in this one not just in terms of swing and miss but also in terms of command know all the strikeouts they kind of speak for themselves but when you don’t walk anyone you’re demonstrating that you have the confidence in your abilities to truly go right after opposing batters aronado batting for the second time and that’s strike one two down nobody on and we’re in the top of the fifth the offense needs to start showing some fight against this starter he’s doing his thing out there they’re going to have to push back at some point and make him work a little bit harder st louis goes down in order redbirds down quietly still behind by a count of one to nothing we head to the bottom of the fifth now the short stop Joseph Ortiz Ortiz that one’s in there that’s strike one well these Brewers doing a good job of simply getting the bat on the ball in this game and the numbers back that up one thing that really stands out to me is how they’ve only struck out one time that’s good discipline right there and on top of it they’re producing more than a hit per inning that delivers outside all those numbers mean this offense is really making the defense work by just putting the ball into play anything can happen at that point the other way and foul ball out to short handles throws the first and that’s the first out in the bottom of the fifth good late bite on that slider got the hitter out in front hold over on it exactly what he was supposed to do this is Bryce Terra a single his first time that cliffs a corner all right Chris when you talk about great logos the Milwaukee Brewers the M and the B that form a glove not everyone even realizes that it’s an M and a B with that glove they started using it in 1978 and have been using it a lot more recently it’s a great logo Chris yeah Boo i remember as a kid my brother had that ball cap and I would just kind of borrow it some would say steal it but it was just such a cool looking logo i had no idea until years later that that’s what was hidden on the inside of it that M and that B but very very cool way outside and it’s 2 and 0 if you’re playing right now tweet out “I was this many days old when I found out the Brewers glove logo is an M and a B.” # MLB the show cuz I guarantee you there are people playing right now that had no idea there was an M and a B in that logo that’s a great point check swing called strike strike one i think it’s one of the best all time an art student at UW Oaklair created it it is super creative and I think one of the better logos we have in the sport swinging a foul ball at the plate they’ll do it again two outs fouled off the plate they’ll do it again good battle here about to be the eighth pitch of the at bat lifted in the air left field pretty well struck newbar hauls it in to end the inning and we’re back top of the sixth inning now for St louis alec Burlson [Applause] check swing and he went it’s 0 and one [Applause] and that one fouled off [Music] [Applause] [Music] hit on a line and that’s a base hit and that ends the perfect game bid and now the tying run is into scoring position and just like that the perfect game bid is no more just a cookie down the middle i mean those are the ones you dream about ones in the cage you’re just hoping you get in the ball game right down the middle not a whole lot of velocity right on top of it now a pretty big at bat coming up with a chance to even this ball game up runner in scoring position no outs now it’s the second baseman Nolan Gorman and immediately pumps in a strike to the left-handed hitter one strike [Applause] and he takes one right on the black and it’s nothing in two man at second swing and a miss struck him out and he’s up to eight strikeouts in this one oh there’s a three pitch strike out he can do whatever he wants with the baseball right now 11 Victor Scott victor Scott getting ready to hit fly to center his first time he’s 0 for one that one’s in there 0 and one [Applause] swang and a ball popped in the air out to shallow center and there are two outs and good defensive play prevents a run from scoring right there the left fielder Lars Nbar here’s the left fielder Lars Nbar for two in this one pitch misses inside and that’s ball one and there’s a ball no strike with the go ahead run at the plate and we’re the top half of the six [Applause] swings and hits one in the air out towards right field squeezes it and that’s the third out another frame in the books as the perfect game falls by the wayside it’s the Brewers one and the Cardinals nothing back here at American Family Field well we go bottom six and now here is William Contrarus in there for a strike at the top of the zone at bat can be a little bit of a dance strike one here but few more pitches we’ll see how it turns out and a foul ball struck him out swinging slider got him for strike three well that’s the money maker right there two strikes slider down and away from a same side thrower as the hitter i mean that’s just tough you’re looking to protect with two strikes and very difficult to lay off now it’s Christian Yelich right through there for a strike oh and one and that’s in there at the knees on the ground right side and that’s just foul oh missed inside with the curb base is empty one away here in the bottom of the six strike three and that’s two in a row chris third time through the order and a couple of quick outs for the starter yeah he’s been very frugal today economical with the pitch counter out of the dugout and he’s going to make a change riley O’Brien done for the night good effort out of him even though he exits on the hook for the loss new arm on the bump after a quick break now pitching righty reliever out of the pen sunny Gray pretty tight game so they’re looking for quality pitches out of him right here got to do his best to keep the score right where it is and it’s Reese Hoskins up to the dish he’s 0 for one just missed and that’s downstairs two and0 hard grounder into the outfield for a knock so a two out knock keeps the inning alive the left fielder number 20 Daz Cameron come down for the Brewers and a curve misses outside ball one milwaukee yeah a foul ball [Music] let’s go this one popped up foul ground first base side contras under it and he’s got it milwaukee leaves one they lead it one- nothing we go to the top of the seventh now it’s the shortstop mason win in the dirt one and0 meanwhile activity in the bullpen dl Hall up and loosening in the pen mirs the right-hander also getting loose looking to get the tying run on base late swing fouled off trying to keep good speed off the bases line drive that’s a base hit the batter the designated only two hits allowed so far tonight so I don’t think that one will disrupt his momentum all that much you know he’s really been on top of his game commanding his pitches all night long brendan Donovan next up for the Cardinals that one finds the zone 4 and one sliced hard but foul with two strikes may see some movement over there at first base trying to stay out of the double play right here [Applause] next pitch misses and it’s one and two great take right there showed some really good discipline breaking ball coming in you see it well but don’t trust that it’s going to hang on for a strike nice job he’s trying to stay down in the zone but the hitter just will not chase now back in a two- two count he’s going to have to go to something else to get him out two-2 now that’s smacked down a line to center and there’s a hit and a go ahead run is on base oh the throw is wild doesn’t get too far away so no one moves up couple of singles back to back everything was on time and fluid in that swing got a pitch he could get the barrel on and lined it into center for the knock those always feel good now we’ll see if they can pick up that tying run and start us over here in the late innings wilson Contras now up to the plate fast ball for a strike and it’s 0 and one [Applause] swag and a miss [Applause] i wouldn’t throw him another breaking ball try to go again with a fast ball slightly elevated he just having a hard time catching up and that one in the air center field hauls it in for the out [Applause] and here’s the catcher Ivon Herrera who’s 0 for two with a pair of strikeouts definitely wants to stay out of the double play here ball on the ground in the infield should be an inning ending double play first pitch and that’s in for a strike well I’m impressed with that challenge pitch right there even with this slim lead this guy’s not afraid to go right after these hitters misses off the plate at one and one definitely a frustrating day for the offense but when they look at it this guy’s had his best stuff painting the corners working on the edges and changing speeds just a difficult one you tip your cap one out the possible tying and go-ahehead runs on base [Applause] misses off the inside and it’s two and two man oh man i don’t know how you take that pitch that’s as close as it gets line drive base hit runner around third on his way to the plate throw is offline and he scores it’s 1-1 a perfect example right there that plate discipline it pays off the deeper he gets into account the more comfortable he becomes and he usually wins the battle and here comes the Brewers manager to the mound pitching change coming aaron Cavali departs and the line not closed on him yet as he’s responsible for the runners on base back with a new pitcher after this now pitching for DL gets handed the rock out of the pen this is his fifth appearance of the year oh so now it’s Dolan Aronado that one called a strike throwing one one out the go-ahead run is at second [Applause] swang and a ball lifted in the air two-way lay down now batting right fielder Alec Burlson and stepping in for the Cardinals Alec Burlson one for two [Applause] delivers a pitch in for a strike at 95 [Applause] swinging a foul out of play go ahead run at second here in the top half of inning number seven [Applause] and ball one [Applause] not close with that one two and two [Applause] next offering popped in the air right field freigh has a beat on it and that’s the third out so one run in the inning on this base hit all even at one a piece you’re watching Major League Baseball on the show and welcome back to the ballpark and now the right fielder S freelick swing and a miss strike one moving in the bullpen phil Mod appears to be getting loose king getting loose as well [Applause] that’s in there that’s strike two pretty rare location right there right down the middle this guy paints the edges i’m not sure if you’re going to see that pitch again as a hitter that’s a ball 02 count you got the opportunity to expand the zone could get the chase there let’s see what he comes back with next [Music] fouls that off to the left and will do it again fights that one away still one and two over swing and a miss struck him out now one away well that’s always the key to effective pitching is getting ahead the count and as a pitcher it really allows you to start expanding the zone hitters become defensive and all of a sudden that plate starts to get really wide and what happens is because of the pressure you end up committing to a pitch as a batter before you recognize what it is and that’s what leads to the strikeout digging in number 21 yeah that’s fouled off [Music] shortened a bun and missed it and the count is 0 and two fast ball is outside all tied up here in the bottom of the seventh fouls it off still one and two two and two on the ground fires over to first just got him on that one oh it’s a nice forehand stop kept the ball from getting to the outfield but he had a little trouble getting rid of it and had to take an extra step which cost you some time but he recovered made a good strong throw and he still got the out next for the Brewers Joseph Ortiz swing and a chopper out to short tosses across the first and it’s a one two three inning brewers go down quietly score remains deadlocked at one back here in Milwaukee we go to the eigh batter Nolan Gorman Hall back to work ball one there activity in the bullpen trevor McIll the hardthrowing righty is up and loosening mirs also throwing swings through that one out in front that time [Applause] and a count one and two really going after him here all fast balls to get ahead in the count that misses the zone two and two gets a piece there we’ll do it again [Applause] the 2-2 sets him down looking throws him with the heater at the kn oh tough night at the dish punching out for the third time right there he just hasn’t looked very comfortable at the plate a little unsure of his timing right now not picking up the spin and location of these pitches he’ll have some adjustments to make now a move being made for a pinch hitter Yelo and this is a big at bat in this ball game that misses and it’s one and0 one and0 [Applause] cut on and miss 96 with that fast base is empty one away and we’re in the top of the eighth fouled off down the right side [Applause] and it’s fouled off they’ll do it again one down base is empty foul ball still a one and two count spoils a two- strike pitch and he’ll see another got him swinging for the K pulled the string of the change up he’s really good hitting the baseball the other way so credit the pitcher for having him out in front of that pitch clearly he had him pulled lars Nbar the next to hit 0 for three in this one fast ball for a strike [Music] swinging a drive this one is crushed no doubt about it and here in the late stages they have the lead he circles the bases his ninth homer of the year just like that they move in front it’s 2-1 really impressive hitting a ball that far going into the wind nothing was going to stop it from getting over the wall looks like this guy was looking out over the plate but he was ready to turn on the inside fast ball so direct to the pitch absolutely blasted out of this ballpark mason Win now at the plate one for three [Applause] the shorts stop takes the ball on the M and this is a spot where he’s got to treat this as a clean inning forget about the home run forget about now being behind on the scoreboard start fresh and get those hitters back up to the plate as quickly as possible and another ball hall maybe a little less aggressive on the mound right now after that home run chris yeah it seems that way you know pitchers they can come out feel good but then all of a sudden get touched up a little bit and they start trying to throw instead of pitch they’re not trusting their stuff and that’s off the inside edge three and one well he’s been good for the most part is it going to take someone going out to the mound to maybe refocus him a bit no partner every pitcher is a little different i I liken it to you sometimes you come in and you’re not as focused and I kind of do what it takes to get you on track and then you have a great show uh so perhaps it’s the same that one drilled left field and that ball is out of here they do it again backto back homers and they add on it’s 3-1 he ran the count full and saved his best swing for last that was a battle and he won back-to-back homers always a special feeling at the ballpark especially if it’s your team that does it and those guys get to slap hands at home plate this is the kind of thing that can really fire up a ball club here comes a skipper out of the dugout and he’s ready to make the move dl Hall won’t go any further tonight two-run ball game as he heads for the dugout and we’ll be back with a new pitcher now pitching for now a right-handed arm out of the bullpen abner he’s got some of the best swing and miss stuff going right now striking out hitters at a very high rate this year so this should be fun to watch two outs nobody on brendan Donovan digs in now and there’s the strike [Applause] that one outside and the count is one and one can’t love it cleanly still manages a throw out number three but two round tripers in this inning the long ball was working and this is now a 31 ball game major League Baseball is on the show back now new pitcher on the mound as we roll into the bottom of the eighth Phil M and he’s done a great job keeping the ball in the park this year the numbers stack up with some of the best in the game m Jose Barrero into the game as a defensive sub now and he’ll take over in center number 27 Bryce Tang getting ready to hit [Applause] Mton measures 6’2 in 31 years old he joined the team as a free agent first pitch misses action in the St louis bullpen brian Helley the closer of the staff is throwing [Music] next offering is down low ball [Music] [Applause] down the left field line base hit and that turns the lineup over that was a thing of beauty may have been a little behind the pitch but by getting that barrel into the hitting zone early on in the swing he was able to beat it and still shoot a line drive down the line and left and now a chance to maybe get creative on offense with good speed on first next for Milwaukee Jackson Chorio 0 for three with three flyyous that pitch in for a strike one and one m checks on first and he’s back in safely and it’s just fouled that was close it’s so hard to slow yourself down when you see that juicy breaking ball but the most success happens when you try to take that right back up the middle approach and now one and two just missing off the plate there according to the umpire and out there on the mound maybe trying to get an explanation can’t say he’s convinced but it looks like he’s accepted it [Applause] and here’s a slow roller to second there’s one and that’s two oh man what a smooth double play that was a thing of beauty from start to finish brewer the catcher William Contreres now the catcher up to hit william Contrarus known for his late inning heroics that one finds the corner that’s strike one and there’s a foul ball one ball well as good as things can be it can be a tough day at the office even for the skippers seeing the offense just sputter not able to get anything going brewers swinging in a bouncer towards third aronado to first in time that’s the inning no runs one hit no errors and no one left ninth inning coming up it’s the Cardinals three and the Brewers won and we’re back we go to the ninth here’s Contraras now [Applause] the pitch swaying and a miss there’s the slider it’s 0 and one doublebarreled action in the bullpen grant Anderson the young right-hander up and throwing number 39 warming up as well [Applause] that missed by a lot and a count even one and one [Music] [Applause] and a breaking ball misses outside pretty easy to give up on that pitch right there started on the edge of the plate with the spin you know it’s going to finish well off the plate [Applause] next off is in for a strike drilled in the air high and deep right field ranging back towards the wall great catch foul ground up against the wall well I think the wind ended up being a factor right there it’s whipping in from right field right now so otherwise I think that ball’s out of here and up next for St louis Ivon Herrera first offering and it just misses nope false [Music] [Applause] that one missed [Applause] in there at the knees three balls in a strike it’s a tough pitch but in terms of the best pitch you’re going to get to hit in the at bat that fast ball was down enough where you’re going to catch up to one that’s the one when he elevates hitters aren’t touched one down base is empty and that’s ball four tried another slider but it missed the plate now batting here’s Nolan Aronado 0 for three a fly out a ground out and a strike out [Applause] swinging a foul pushed off to the right and that will get out of play [Applause] next pitch a slider that misses outside and that’s in the dirt one straight [Music] [Applause] down the middle for a strike and it’s two and two ground ball right side and it’s through for a hit and out to a board not much to this one other than just a willingness to go the other way and put the ball in play that’s a team at bat right there nice job of staying back and letting the ball get deep first and second one out burlson the next to hit [Applause] just missed and that one sliced fouled next pitch is outside nasty back door slider there’s really nothing you can do with that if you swing at it so it’s a good take by him [Applause] highfly ball and that one curling foul down the right side [Applause] here over at second aronado at first one gone he hasn’t gotten the result yet but he’s got to feel pretty confident three foul balls in a row he’s right on this pitcher got him looking that’s out number two here’s the second base Nolan Gorman 0 for three with three strikeouts [Applause] in there and it’s 0 and one [Applause] just missed 21 swing and a miss well this is a higher leverage spot and I love the way that he’s turned things around he’s got two outs now ahead in this count and he can pretty much dictate what’s going to happen next in terms of the pitch sequence first and second two down here in the top of the ninth pretty good pitch there to take a rip at he wants to get his arms extended he likes the ball away from him a little bit line to left can’t get there and it deflects off him run comes in from second and they take a threerun lead well a swing like that can help you come out of the struggle we saw the numbers coming into the ball game but all he’s trying to do at this point is help his team win first and second two outs now for St louis jose Barrero on the ground to third they get the force and that is that but they pick up one run on the RBI single it’s now 4-1 back after this on the show we’re back and on the mound is the closer Ryan Hley 25th appearance of the year for him number 56 Ryan Hley here comes Christian Yell 0 for three with two ground outs and a strike out [Applause] ball one and a pitch inside that was absolute gas triple digits on the gun it’s just a different experience as a hitter watching that go by whoa [Applause] that one finds the zone two and one now big and bad right here he did the team thing took until he got a strike now he’s got to go to work shorten up that swing a little bit do whatever it takes to get on base [Applause] fouled off left side [Applause] two- two now and they’ll do it again [Applause] swing and a popup foul territory for the catcher and out number one on the grab that hanging breaking ball looks so juicy to the hitter nothing more frustrating when you miss that pitch and you pop out he’s going to have to think about that till his next at bat and here is Hoskins [Applause] that one finds the zone strike one [Applause] just missed the Brewers trailing by three we’re in the last half of the ninth inning hoskins pushes a foul [Applause] swings and misses just one out remaining for the Brewers well we saw a solid effort out of their starter and the bullpen is following suit it’s just a good day as a manager or as a pitching coach when you can hand the ball off to multiple arms and get stability from all of their performances and first offering is fouled off [Applause] [Applause] fought off foul [Applause] one strike away got him and that’s the ball game sometimes road trips can be tough if you’re away from your family but when you can win silence that opposing crowd it makes things just a little bit better makes the road trip just a little bit shorter 4-1 the final here today for Chris Singleton and our entire outstanding crew here at MLB the show I’m John Shami we’ll see you soon
