[EDM vs FLA] Bouchard is shaken up after this hit from Verhaeghe. There was no penalty on the play

  1. For anyone saying it’s not a penalty, watch his skates. They both left the ice as he jumped and checked into him.

  2. Of course it’s not a penalty. A Panther hit someone.

It’s only a penalty when a Panther player gets hit.

  3. Its a tough call. It’s a rough hit, but the point of contact was still Bouchards back not his head.

I’m a founding member of the refs are blind committee, but this call honestly could have gone either way

  4. It looked like a clean hit until I saw the replay where his feet leave the ice. I think the fact that there wasn’t a call on the ice was the deciding factor.

  5. Not a fan of either team but that should have been called boarding or charging! Amazing how Florida gets away with so much I guess bettman still thinks hockey in Florida is “good for the game”

  6. Just a classic by the book boarding call. Easy call gor them yo make. They made the call right… RIGHT.

  7. He jumped to get his shoulder to the neck, fo sho a penalty. But you can’t expect them to call everything, the officiating has been terrible this series, and these playoffs as a whole

  8. Hitting directly on the numbers is allowed when you’re a Florida player. That team is dirty as shit

  9. I’m not saying that Chris Rooney is a bad referee but Angel Hernandez would’ve called that a penalty

  10. If the play was reversed and they called a penalty…..I’d be pissed. Borderline boarding, but not enough to blow the whistle imo.

Just wish the zebras had a shred of consistency though. They’ve been trash

  11. The fact the commentary says his skates stay on the ice is really the cherry on top

  12. One you can’t jump into a player, that’s charging, two it’s borderline charging but again borderline and three, he changed his angle dramatically to hit him square in the back. Playoff hockey does not mean you throw the whistle away. It used to mean being the cleaner team, not taking penalties and making good plays. Not this year tho

  13. Quinn Hughes says this is a penalty and game misconduct based on the call against him.

  14. i think the nhl should just hire mario yamasaki to be a ref at this point lol

  15. I haven’t been watching much, but that’s the 2nd hit from Vergaeghe that should have been called…high sticking in the first, just before the 3rd goal, and now this…refs are bullshit.

  16. Hit from behind, left his feet…what’s not to call?

Hoping there’s supplemental discipline, but I highly doubt it’ll happen.

  17. Boarding / Roughing in my book, but things have been a lot more rough this series. I’d have called it personally but I also understand why they didn’t, it’s a tough one especially in a tied game like this.

  18. My buddy watched this and said, “watch, they’ll give edmonton a penalty in a minute.”
A minute later they call Drai for elbowing.

  19. Oh yeah, not a penalty but when Elias Petterson leaves his feet when getting hit, he gets a penalty for charging.

Yes, I’m still bitter about that penalty, why do you ask?

  20. Well it’s Florida. The league has a mandate to not call penalties against Florida. They want their sunbelt dynasty.

  21. The lack of protection the rules of hockey provide for players is criminal.

The amount of contact they allow to the back of the head is unfathomable in any other sport.

Even combat sports say you can’t do it because they don’t want people dying or being paralysed.

The nhl is going to get rightfully sued at some point and have to change the way the rules are enforced.

  22. If this was game 42 of the season. They would throw him in prison for that hit. The finals though. This is prison rules gents

  23. This is when you miss true enforcers. They almost no longer exist. Since the league isn’t doing anything about this shit maybe it’s time to bring back the GOONS.

  24. I don’t think it’s an egregious hit but it’s definitely boarding.

The path Verhaege took and the time it took him to deliver the hit make it intentional. He could have given a clean hit but chose to hit him in the numbers.

  25. Hasn’t it been the last year or two where players just park against the boards waiting to get boarded and draw a penalty? On every team, it seems like a strategy now that is beyond stupid… Otherwise… Why square up to the boards when you just saw someone skating hard at you?

Honest question… I may not like the Oilers but the Panthers and every other team do it too, just get in position and wait to go lights out and scream about it.

  26. I was astonished this wasn’t called. Then it hit me, I remember that florida can do whatever the fuck they want. Next play Leon gets called for something that’s happened to edm like 10 times lol

  27. Checking people perpendicular to the boards should be illegal. It’s wildly dangerous.

  28. TIL players get less and less repercussions for dangerous hit the deeper they get into SC playoff run

  29. Not to mention the 3 uncalled high sticks by Florida. Funny how they see every one that the Oilers commit

  30. Charging, boarding, and leaving the feet for roughing as well. Good clean hit though right?

  31. Typical BS NHL officiating. NHL refs are some of the worst in professional
    sports.

  32. Honestly if they just called the completely obvious penalties. Not even the questionable ones. Oilers win game 2 and this game wouldn’t have gone to overtime. It would be 3-1 oilers right now. And if that was the case, maybe the game 3 meltdown doesn’t happen either.
